It shows the gold in goldbars and the numbers behind are the nuggets (cents if you will). This is a perfect example about the widely used term "griefing" and hence many discussions that are on this and many other forums by a lot of people. A player assassination mission is not by any means griefing. It is a game element intended by Rockstar to have a hunt and shootout. It gives fair warning to the hunted and you can easily survive this 90% of the time. The issue lies after the mission and the emotions of players to keep engaging for revenge. Yet this is also in the game and has limits (parley and worst case switching servers). To some griefing would be considered riding past a player without shooting and then boom your dead by a headshot. I do not consider this griefing, it's just a weak move. To me griefing is more related to getting killed without a single chance to fight back, getting out of cutscenes or animations etcetera. Also being hunted by a group of players over and over after making it obvious by actions or chat that enough is enough or constant verbal abuse along with it. Most of the above issues would disappear with the auto aim removed for everyone and some tweaks by Rockstar (like not losing your loot when you or your horse get killed). In short : Griefing is defined differently by everyone and therefore diffcult to balance.4 points

There's so many nooks and crannies in some of these towns or areas where you can park yourself in a tight spot and wait for them to pile up at the door or come up a ladder. It's fantastic. There's a train car in St. Denis, the top of the roof at Heartlands Oil, the hayloft at the livestock auction in Valentine.... and many, many more. I'ts not just you. I'm only level 11. I'd be at 50+ but I reset my character about four or five times. And I roll solo a lot. That slows me down.2 points

Well they could just add pve lobbies.. Maybe with less players but more NPCS that spawn. To reduce the strain on servers. And add pve friendly events. Like fishing or hunting challenges.. and other random events that have nothing to do with player vs player combat.2 points
-
I don't really see it as griefing. Now it would be if the person kept killing even after finishing the mission. I mean all missions invite other players to mess with it, it gives anyone nearby a notification about it and what they have to do to take it. Would that be griefing as well? It's not griefing if it's a core mechanic of the game. As for your question about gold, it's gold bars and it shows up next your cash automatically.2 points

What you got is them playing the numbers. If they feel that a percent of their player base unable to play the game is acceptable loss. They going on the they can't make everyone happy, why try. Most corporations have a acceptable loss rate. For arguments sake let's say that magic number is 10%, so if 90% + is happy then they have done well and no concerns. If it gets to be 11%, then they will put down their cup of coffee and hit the fix button, which takes time and resources. Sad to say you fall into the happy casualty category. Now if you really wanted it fixed and this is just my personal experience over the years. When you contact them about a complaint, make it sound as if you are benefiting from it. They will code red that crap and have a hot fix in minutes. They here complaints all day long, call up being happy and they have no clue how to deal with it. Their little how to suggestion handbook, it doesn't cover happy customer and you will send their heads a spinning. Just saying.2 points

“Zombied out”, a new sentence that I will use often. I have personally felt like that for many years and I am tired beyond belief when it comes ro zombies as they are the main antagonists in more or less anything and everything these days. I purchased the new version of “Resident evil 2” because I am old and used to be scared like hell playing the original on PSX. It is not a bad game but since I am “zombied out”, it takes away some of the joy playing it.2 points

Exactly. HARDCORE LOBBIES (free aim only) and perhaps just red shadowed areas on the map to show players would totally balance griefing. In fact if someone has to actually aim for that headshot to kill me im fine with them trying to hunt me down, toxic or not. Bring it on! If we can figure this out great minds at R* should be able to! RD1 had hardcore lobbies as well. Additionally Radar should still show the red glow in direction of enemies, but Only show actual unit blips when sprinting/ firing. Thats all they need! This would make me and others 10x more patient for R* to take their time adding more content or until Full Release2 points

Thousands gathered in the Saint Denis cemetery this weekend past to pay respects to the fallen Police Officers of Saint Denis. After putting together witness recounts and evidence recovered at the scene we’ve learned that the notorious outlaw Arthur Morgan arrived in Saint Denis early Saturday morning. He conducted business with the Trapper and Fence, then went into the Saint Denis gunsmith where an 18 hour standoff ensued and a staggering number of officers were killed. Eye witnesses near the Trapper and Fence recount “he looked sick, pale and unsteady on his feet”, another stated “he was coughing a bit, and somewhat irritable at a feller that asked if he was okay”. An eye witness at the gunsmith told one reporter “He wasn’t happy looking when he went into the gunsmith. He ran from his horse into the shop, throwing the doors open. I ducked my head down below the window, I didn’t want to be seen. I could hear him talking to the gunsmith. The gunsmith said something about keeping his weapon clean. It escalated from there. More shouting, I covered my ears, and then through my hands I heard a shotgun blast. We all screamed and ran.” The last witness recounting of the incident is thus; “I was walking along, heading past the gunsmith on the opposite side of the street and heard a gunshot. I ran to the opening in the fence beside me and hid there behind the stone base of the fence. After that first gunshot I heard police whistles and thought to myself ‘oh good, they’ll handle it’. But I stayed hidden, i was too scared to move so as i didn't get shot too. The police were yelling at someone in the gunsmith, then more shots rang out, then it got quiet, really quiet. A minute or so later I hear running footsteps going into the gunsmith and more shooting. Then it got really quiet again. That scary quiet like when there’s a bear near you in the woods. So I peaked over the stone base of the fence and saw all these dead policemen. I panicked and ran, I’ve never been so scared in my life!” Our evidence collaborates their stories. On that tragic morning Arthur Morgan argued with the gunsmith, then shot the gunsmith in the head with his shotgun. Police were notified and in their haste they rushed into the gunsmith only to be shot dead in the doorway. It is believed Mr. Morgan hid in the back of the gunsmith, using the wall as cover, shooting anyone that ran in or in front of the doors. It’s believed he was waiting for more police to arrive. This stand off lasted about 18 hours. At approximately 2am Mr. Morgan gunned down the officers at the doorway, then ran off down an alley. He had a horse waiting and fled through the streets and alleys. Officers chased him, and killed his horse we believe was named Buell, as that name was stamped on the bridle's nose strap. Mr. Morgan then shot an innocent rider in the head, stole his horse and fled through the fields into the swamp, escaping the pursuing officers. A 3 day manhunt in the swamp turned up nothing, but 2 squads of dead officers. Mr. Morgan must have heard them, and then hid in cover and picked them off. All officers in both squads were shot in the head. Evidence collected counts the dead as follows – 208 Saint Denis police officers, Ms. Pergot, an innocent who must have ran passed the opened gunsmith and was shot, Mr. Samuels, the unfortunate victim riding his horse in the wrong place and time, and Mr. Morgan's horse Buell. Investigators have recovered 240 spent shotgun shells in the back of the gunsmith, and 30 revolver casings.2 points

Trolling seems to be the suit this guy wears best. lol There are a lot of people who play stupid to screw around people and to screw them over. My friend does it all the time. Me and my other buddies are always kicking up out the posse and the party.1 point

This is a problem everyone is having. It is actually part of a feature in the game but many hate it, including myself. Just have to ride it out till they figure out a better way to implement it in the game.1 point

I like the idea of having a general hardcore server. One that requires you to be good at aiming as well as surviving. Make the animals smarter and have them do more damage. Allow players to easily get sick if they don't treat wounds. Stuff like that.1 point

{Dinosaur bone spoiler but not exact location} Far north of Strawberry is a cave and within this cave is a phantom bear. As I came across this cave I could hear a bear growling intensely over and over. I left my horse Laureli far away from the cave and pulled out my trusty semi-auto shotgun. When I entered the dark cave I could hear the bear but could not see it. Out of know where he appeared right in front of me. I shot one slug into his chest right before it took me down! The giant grizzly chewed and through me around for minutes! With Arthur Morgan having TB and getting torn to shreds he managed to draw his hunting knife, stab the bear in the shoulder then the throat. Reaching for my semi-auto shotgun , I aimed, and blasted the great grizzly three times in the chest! I stood up, cloths and skin tore with blood all around, barely hanging on. I skinned and harvested the Phantom Grizzly, walked over to my horse and set up camp. I made a delicious oregano big game steak and slept for twenty hours to heal. The next afternoon I returned to the cave to find out the Phantom Grizzly was protecting an antient dinosaur bone. I rode off in amazement that this paranormal event had happened thinking "I cant wait to tell the gang what happened". There are so many great adventures you can have in Red Dead Redemption. Share your Spooky but true stories! Thanks to all who read and help start up this forum! For the truth behind the story, message me for a video. I don't want to self promote. I just want to let people know its a true story!1 point

Well, maybe......but definitely not Van Horn. Annesburg is a different story though, those people need an excuse to get out of that miserable town.1 point

Like you wouldn't roll into Van Horn with a posse mounted in your war wagon just laying waste to the town...1 point

@Qu3ster IMHO you're an extraordinary player if you're already over Level 100. But why not be a bad guy who eliminates worser bad guys!? [Love your posse name (the caped crusaders), and steed, "Bat-Mo-Horse Robin" 🤣 ] the Charles Bronson vigilante movies sure did okay back in the day1 point

I will make sure not to move your camp again, I apologize. I am joking of course. This is a fan run site and has no affiliation with Rockstar. If you have an issue, you have to take it up with them. Yelling at other players won't help you bro.1 point
-
100% agree. Although I think we can all agree that shooting someone in the back of the head after they exit a cutscene before they can defend themselves is universally understood to be griefing. Nailed it. I still think a self-toggle for PvP/PvE status with a cool down timer once out of combat is the simplest way to mitigate these specific grieifing issues.1 point
-
I'd go for a mild 'parkour' obstacle course race event. Myself and my friends were hopping all over St Denis the other day and I was showing them various ways to get up to things. Or like it story mode, that npc that challenges you to a shooting contest. A shooting gallery basically. Like hitting flying targets with different gun/weapon types. Or something like in The Evil Within 2?1 point

............dude. How much caffeine did you drink prior to writing this? I mean, can you see noise now? Seriously though, this made me crack up. I really would like to have the option to set up a small camp anywhere on the map, makes it feel more real to me. They also could add a camper wagon since that's what people slept in back then anyways. They can shelf the war wagon for all I care. lol1 point

I agree that we need private lobbies, I just don't believe they're a viable solution to PvE gameplay. They'd be perfect for setting up competitive leagues, private matches, or even youtube channels/machinima content.1 point

One of the people that I play with saw the original post above. He told me that he linked it to Rockstar in their feedback and asked them why they promised one game but are not delivering on that promise. He knows that I visit a few forum boards so he yelled (politely) at me and asked me why I hadn't done it already and every time I see posts that are similar. I didn't have an answer. But I'm going to do it from now on.1 point

Yep last week i played few PvP games against a lvl 346.... The crazy thing is the guy was not that good (Ok he was in the top 1/3 ranking in each game but he never won). Unfortunately I don't remember his GT. A part from this one i saw few players lvl +200 as well, but its pretty unsual1 point

hardcore free aim mode. got to get away from casual aimers especially the varmint with a scope users. undead over run cause i loved it in rdr 1. a lot more i could add but i would be happy with what i mentioned1 point

Please, please, if you are set on leaving, go to the feedback feature and tell them why you are leaving. You also might want to remind them that Rockstar stated this game would be "fun and fair" and that you counted on that when you spent your money on the game. I feel much the same you do but I am waiting until the game comes out of beta to see exactly what Rockstar is going to deliver to us. But, for right now, it does seem like Rockstar is pulling the old double cross on those of us who expected what was in the promotional material, a "fun and fair environment." Right now, the game seems like a haven for online griefers and "fun and fair" are not what Rockstar is offering.1 point

I'm not pulling your leg. I regularly run into players over lvl 50 and typically at least one over lvl 100 in each session. As Burbon mentioned, there are others even much higher. Seriously, it's not a hard thing to achieve at this stage in the game. There are even players around here on these forums who are at that level.1 point

This reminds me of a similar thread with another member who lost their cool and used the console messaging. Doesn't matter what happens in the game. The message they see when that other player reported you is what you're being judged on and both MS and Sony take these things very seriously. ....they have to. Yeah, good message for others that may be thinking of doing it. ....just don't. It's not worth it and now in your case it's lvl 94 player for the win at 2 to 0. What I do is immediately block them and use the in-game reporting feature if appropriate. In this case, it sounds like the other guy was simply playing the mission as designed since you are a target for everyone else on those escort jobs. That's not griefing if that's the case. btw, lvl 94 is nothing at this stage in the beta. There are plenty of 100+ players out there and likely more than we see that have simply quit due to a lack of content. I'm at about 50 myself and I'm pretty casual about how I play. If I put my mind to it and started grinding a while back, I could easily have been at that level too by now.1 point

Exactly what I think, really think you should pass that onto R* feedback.1 point

There is free aim, against slippery bastards such as myself. My dreams are for cattle rustling an entire herd slowly through the Western frontier with no trouble along the way. I want hundreds of intricate solo assassination missions close to Hitman agent 47 games. I want the special snake oil to work. I need bandoliers for more 12ga ammunition. We need a couple thousand rare encounters. I want single player stories with or without friends. Brothels. Poker. Liar's dice. GUN DUELS at high noon. Thieve's Landing to develop. Reminicent of the Wild Wasteland perk in New Vegas, we are hanged to enter the world of Old West horror for Undead Nightmare Online next Halloween with a Back To The Future 3 type DLC in a futuristic New Austin with fully customizable spaceships so I can be a Space Pirate with a full auto suppressed shotgun, cybernetics, and a Harley-Davidson. I want to kill zombies and aliens and chupacabras with Arthur Morgan at our side, I want to randomly take my binoculars out to find a hungry coyote forever chase a roadrunner, and our soul sold to the devil for cheap. Giant monster Rattlesnakes for a final boss. Give me the dark horse, not a gold dishonorable buckle. At least give us bad men makeshift iron chestplates. To return back like nothing happened, we simply crawl out of a grave. I want a map based on the real life Outlaw Trail. A kingdom for bandits. Custom NPC companions that watch our back. Elaborate bank and train robberies where the escape is planned better than the heists, like fresh horses hitched to evade capture. I want to feel like the villain that I am, the game already makes me feel like this, but I want it magnified times eternity. Call this the Black Hat DLC, where the hogtied victim splatters on the train tracks like in RDR1. I want a Sisika Prison DLC, where low honor characters do time. Stripped of our firepower. With only Shanks and fists. Ultimately trying to escape. Who knows, maybe one day own a ranch and do boring cowboy chores. I want to own the slaughterhouse outside Saint Denis, so I can sit in the office and watch and hear the suffering of pigs and cattle. I want to sell humans for meat at Butcher's Creek because we all know they're cannibals. I want a Spaghetti Western DLC with the score done by Ennio Morricone before he passes. Directed by Clint Eastwood. Expand hunting out to set TRAPS, for animals and humans. More paid killing tracking missions. And for STEALTH to be a goddamn option. Harmonica emotes so we can hum our own haunting tunes, thinking of revenge. More RPG elements like Fallout New Vegas and no more pvp competitive horse manure. Free roam is the only way I'll play. More FREEDOM. Like the smoking animation to last awhile or while idling. Or pissing in the outhouse or hell, baths, fishing on boats WTF. People want more realism to escape reality. Open up the interiors like churches, restaurants, casinos..... Jobs, jobs, jobs. Like the pony express, bartending or moonshine distilleries, stagecoaches, gunsmiths, undertakers, coal mining, bounty hunters, preachers, oil barons, big cattle, bullriding, circus freak, the army, housewives or prostitutes for women lol, sheriffs for "honorable" players. Or to finish the railroads towards the Pacific. With everything being an option and depending on our honor level. I personally want Filipino martial arts for my character since it was around at the time and a southeast Asian prahu pirate ship. More personal customization to attempt to make every player you meet a unique character themselves. The ability to make a campfire and small tent anywhere on the goddamn map. The Old West was the origin of North America's deep love of guns and the final days where the mode of transport breathed and crapped all over the place. The potential here is a limitless goldmine. I'll be playing this forever even after Cyberpunk 2077 and Outer Worlds releases. "High" honor and low honor players need completely different pathways, experiences, rewards, and consequences. The world around us and the NPC's should act accordingly. AND NO MORE TIME LIMITS. I ride into town slow and walk through saloon doors swinging.1 point

The answer is cold. When it's cold, there's more options to warm up, but when you're in extreme heat, your options are limited. When it's cold, you can go indoors, build a fire, start moving around to generate body heat. When it's hot, you need either water or AC. Those are literally your only options. Stripping down just gets your jibbly bits sunburned.1 point

No. Despite the "special offer" I refuse to give them money for a beta. It's the principal of the matter. It'd one thing if I was guaranteed that anything I spent my gold on would be retained, but if I decide to, say, delete my character, everything I paid for in gold is GONE. That's a problem for me. I'm not keen on renting digital clothing for my character.1 point

Were there any DLC packs for GTA V? No. Did R* make a gazillion dollars from GTA V? Oh yes. I think that RDR2 will be the same, there’s enough in the core game to keep casual offline gamers happy for many moths (as opposed to the few days gameplay for titles like Tomb Raider and Call of Duty). I believe that R* will add more to the online aspect of the game and pretty much ignore story mode. Online is where the money is, this has been proven time and time again for many popular franchises. I personally prefer story mode, I don’t have the time or mentality for online gaming. Will the lack of story mode DLC stop me from enjoying RDR2? No, not really- there’s plenty for me to do in this world.1 point

Hi Goober, First of all, welcome. This site is a wealth of information and generally speaking, the community is a great group of folks. Please note however, that this is a fan site and not a Rockstar official forum. If you wish to provide feedback on the beta (and I encourage you to), here is a link: https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=f2e50892 There is also a lot of information at RDR2.org that can help you overcome the issue some have with what we call griefers and trolls. I would also recommend trying to seek out online friends who you share similar interests with so you can explore and do activities with a group vs. solo. RDO is much more rewarding that way and safer with the added security a posse provides. https://www.rdr2.org/forums/clubs/ If you're on PS4, feel free to join ours (my PSN Community is linked within): Please note that R* has also announced new anti-griefing measures that they will be impletning soon that will hopefully mitigate the issue: https://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/60804/Red-Dead-Online-Beta-Update Hope this helps.1 point
