Never, ever ride into a town with other players present when you have that much to lose especially when playing solo. Either wait for it to clear or move on to another butcher in a location that is safe. The phone app is also a life saver in this regard. I might take risks when I have less to lose but never after a big hunt.2 points

Some have already walked from the game. Even if they add anything, those players comeback they may be seeing the carrot way to far out from the horse. I would speculate that if they dangle that carrot too far, that unlike you they aren't prepared for playing and paying. So it really matters what they do to keep players interested. Sounds like you busted your hump to be in a good place and be ready. To some they wasn't given enough to do in the beginning to stay grinding.2 points

Honestly, the thing I didn't like the most was Arthur dying. I feel like I connected more with him than John. I wanted to see the dude ride off into the sunset. His death just felt, weak.2 points

Controller throwing mad last night. Spent about 2-3 hours hunting. Had perfect Bison hide and two perfect birds on my horse along with an untold amount of hides stowed. Ride into town to hit the butcher and BAM! headshot by another player. Respawn and call my horse, and every single F'n pelt and hide is gone. All of them. Not even a hair, scale or feather remained. I sent him a F-U message and switched over to Far Cry 5 for a bit. There, vent/rant done.1 point

Yeah I think the difference is really slight, like by a hair... But for thirty bucks, at least I have a scope and it actually has come in handy and not a bad upgrade for that price.1 point

I have been shot a lot when carrying pelts. I learned to avoid towns I see a lot of activity in. Like mentioned above, you can try hopping on another server though sometimes you lose stuff doing it. I will typically just wait things out for clearing and go into town when no one is around.1 point

1st. Don't lose your cool. 2nd. Change servers or back out and comeback in. What I have seen and now this isn't ALL the time. There are times when if it is on your horse, when you come back in. It may still be on your horse. Then again it may not, try this a couple of times and you might be surprised. The reason I say that is this. This weekend, I had been hunting, I usually don't hunt long between Butcher visits. Don't trust others, my loss of a horse full of pelts means nothing to them. Where as they mean more to me especially when I just spent hours hunting 3 star pelts. Which is not easy for me to find. Any who, I was on my way and see a hideout. So I say to myself, "Yoda, you know there just might be a treasure map being held in that there hideout with your name on it. And yous, be pretty good about taking those out without dying. Much?" What can I say, a person whose talking to himself doesn't have a lot of self confidence. In case you all missed that, last was said to be funny, quit being so dang serious all the time. So I take down all the bad guys and have just the leader left and I have hopped off the old horse to loot a body. I made sure the map was clear, I check it pretty regular, just in case. It was at this point that I see Rockstar, bless their soul, they felt Good Ol Yoda was lonely out there by Tumbleweed and spawned him a real life A hole to keep him company. This A hole lived up to his nickname that I assigned him. Killed him twice before he finally got me and that stupid Leader of the camp was still alive. So the A hole killed me, killed my horse, and last but not least killed the leader. So I got mad and left the server, knowing I had too much to lose. Yet I stayed and paid the price and lost it. A few hours later logged in and my horse still had all the 3 star pelts. So I went and sold them. So afterwards, I went out and tested my theory and didn't prove a dam thing. Other then sometimes you may lose or keep your pelts and there is any dam rhyme or reason that I could get to always keep them or lose them. It just seemed a little random. I died to others and I died to NPCs, whether people or predators. Sometimes I would lose it all or keep it all. Good luck!1 point

I've seen you post here before so this isn't your first rodeo, cowboy. You know the fools we have to deal with online and that we'll be taking it in the shorts till changes are implemented. I sure hope you tempered that message so you don't get any flack. You know those messages have a way of backfiring on the innocent party sometimes.1 point

Ok, you got me curious so I tried the bolt with and without the scope on it for non sighted in shots. From what I can tell the accuracy is the pretty much the same, although it seemed like the accuracy was a little better without the scope on it. Once again, this is for shots with the scope equipped, but not turned on.1 point

Two things I hated. 1st the way the story went, imho, was way too predictable. Though I didn't know what was going to happen, I still felt I knew what was going to happen to Arthur. 2nd was the side quest. I felt they got in the way of the story. They felt more natural to me after the ending then during story of Arthur. For example, I was doing a lot of hunting, which should have been about the gangs survival, where I was doing to unlock this or that.1 point

Griefing, just a different level. Remember a case where a friend on The Division, couldn't figure out why every time he went to the DZ, that he kept running into a certain other player. He reported the player and it came up that the other player was a follower of his and every time he got on. This guy would stop what he was doing to go and grief. This was a xbox decision that they changed from the 360 to the One. Where you at least had the choice whether or not to let someone to add you to their list. I don't know how it's handled on PS4, but Xbox can be crazy.1 point

Doing missions a certain way can help with money and or xp. Slower the better is usually key. Running with a Posse this weekend drove that thought home.1 point

As Netnow66 mentioned, I would submit a trouble ticket with R*. Make sure you click on the "Bug / Technical Issue" box in that link. That will take you to their Support site where someone will respond to your report. Camps are a mixed bag as some don't have this issue while others do. Hopefully they will tell you that it is among the known issues to R* and they are working on it. I've had the same response regarding side missions not starting, friends not appearing on the in-game friends list when trying to invite them, not getting money for pelts at the butcher, etc. .....and yes, the game is still in beta and will be well into the foreseeable future. The title update will be coming "soon" although there is no release date they have provided. Everything else is speculation. As Netnow66 said, the best you can do is simply try to find ways to play the game in a way that works for you. Work around the bugs and shortcomings but make sure you report them. .....and submit your ideas and suggestions too. My advice for those who are fed up with the game, R*, etc. and you've already provided feedback to them, maybe think about shelving it for a while or until the next TU comes out. Just stay tuned here for news an updates. Hell, even I might get to a point where I will put the game away for while.1 point

Agree: There may be another occasion I need to take meds and lie down.... Saturday afternoon I got home from 4 nights and 5 days in intensive care 100 miles from home-- a heart procedure that nearly cost me my life twice in a 45 minute span. We gave you the opportunity to shoot every single enemy on the mission, you scored more on the mission than you ever have before and levelled up, and experienced how effective a tactical plan can be in a posse with structure and rules. Just like Marines and sardines, Aces & Eights ain't for everybody....1 point

In games like this usually scope is a vanity item. usually you get the bonuses regardless of you use the scope or not. It's normally that way, but I don't know in this game how they did that.1 point

Well, seeing how you brought it up. It really kind of sucked. We only got two runs in before real life kicked in and we had to go deal with that. To be serous though, it was a good time and have always enjoyed rolling with you and it was cool to hang out with @Major Dammidge and @BurbonChaser. Looking forward to doing it again.1 point

you wont show up on players radar when you head shoot them from behind. basically they wont know you were there due to range. see it all the time with varmint scope casuals. it adds to the issues making people stop playing. the invisible spawning is bad enough but players spamming easy kills spoils the competitive pvp. this why we need hardcore mode to seperate the casual from the frèe aimer. its getting bad from varmint casuals thinking they good to roof campers in choose your weapon a game mode you suppose to move around they camp with 1 point carbine repeater. or capture teams who dont capture but just spawn kill another team whilst someone else wins. its all killing the game.1 point

I agree chapter 5 felt like an add on. I found the experience jarring because it took you out of the game. My least favourite part of the game.1 point

That is my problem with the epilogue, since I have immersed myself in Arthur’s life and ways then playing as John just feels like a sexual act that is interrupted just before climax. Arthur is just way better as a player character in this particular game, no matter how cool Marston is in RDR1. I am weird and old but I am now on my fourth play through and the reason is that I so much prefer playing as Arthur instead of John. I have a main save of sorts where I have collected nearly everything in the game and found everything there is but roaming around as John is just not as fun as doing the same with Arthur would have been. Many people I have talked with say they love the fast tempo of the later chapters and that they really love chapter 6. I am the complete opposite as I greatly prefer Arthur pre his “breaking bad” phase and it is just a pity that I cannot enjoy the entire map as Arthur and kill all the legendary animals and so forth with the games main protagonist. Once again, all of this could be rectified by giving the player the option to play as Arthur post epilogues even if it is not canonical to the story.1 point

I wasnt crazy about the Guarma trip. It kind of killed the western vibe and felt like I was playing any version of Farcry. I would have preferred to have spent that time in Sisika Prison picking up bars of soap off of the shower floor.1 point

I gave you a like as I think you have some points but I do not agree with all. I for instance like to be immersed in the games I play and playing one character is in my mind way better compared to the GTAV solution. I love most of the story but yes, after the “uncharted” chapter followed by the “breaking bad” chapter, I would have preferred other kind of events. The “uncharted” chapter and the “breaking bad” ones where not really fun to play and here comes the real paradox for me. I like to be able to have all the little trinkets, weapons and such but when they become available before the epilogue Arthur has already become broken and boring to play. At that part it is just not that much fun to “role-play anymore. So to be unbroken I need to progress to the epilogue and that to me is not really the same game anymore. I understand that others may differ in their opinion and I can really see their standpoint, but it just takes away the fun to play the ending chapters in my opinion.1 point

Good to know. Now if it was only this easy to avoid people in real life... Everything would be golden. LOL1 point
-
What would be the point of remaking it though? Red Dead Redemption follows the life of John after leaving the gang. There is only a small amount of time between RDR2 ending and RDR1 beginning.1 point
-
It is hard to do things like this without pushing it too far into the future. It would be different if the story took place in the 1920's but at that point, there was no true wild west, at least not to me.1 point
-
Aliens not for me. undead ovee run yes but aliens no. i think the technology would end up ruining the wild west and rstar wouldnt resist the 12 yr olds wanting hover horses etc. a lonely are the brave type dlc would be interesting.1 point

My friends' girl gets this a lot whenever she plays online games. Most dudes assume she is a 12 year old boy. She will play along with it. Always a fun time to be involved. I got called a pedo before. Jokes on them cause she was a 25 year old woman at the time. lol1 point

Not even out of Chapter IV yet. I started playing online and got sidetracked by the side quests in the story mode. Things really start to open up in Chapter IV--and so I've been muddling through everything at an almost glacial pace. Really, it's the same issue that stalled me out during Chapter II. I just keep getting distracted. Eventually, I'll buckle down and grind through the story, but most of my challenges are more than half completed, and the little things continue to suck me in I finally isolated the issue with my router that was contributing to disconnects and went deeeeeeeeeeep into the online rabbit hole over the last few weeks. Then my basement flooded last Wednesday during an epic thaw/rain storm. So I haven't even touched RDR's story mode apart from a few hours Wednesday night. I'll get back to it this weekend most likely. Trying to convince the wife that I don't need to go on the family ski trip to western NY (The Bro Show does not ski nor snowboard: I'm too old, too tall, and too anti-falling over and concussing myself) under the premise that I can stay behind and work in the basement before the rehab folks come in next week. I'll hook up the projector and play on that in my bedroom if nobody else is around, with a cooler full of porter and stout at my side.1 point

I'm closing this thread as it has quickly devolved into the insult slinging fest I knew it would. I tried to be reasonable. We don't need this here. Reddit is a great place to start if you're really into this sort of thing.1 point

Or best way is to simply just stand there and let them kill you, usually they will leave you alone after that because it was just a part of the mission. My crew usually gets to people before they're informed but when people stay and fight or let us kill them, we just move on. If we have to chase you across the map then we will continue to do so until you leave the server.1 point

It just came to mind. Well, I did name one of my horses "Itchy Nuts" so it was probably somewhere in my subconscience at the time.1 point

I had a situation last night where we had just cleared out a gang camp. As we were finishing up, two players rode in. I got on my horse and took a flanking position in case they tried something. To my surprise, completely ignoring us, they started to try and loot the bodies. I immediately thought.....the nerve of these guys. A couple things..... Riding up on me that fast (off the road) I would say justifies being shot 9 times out of 10. Trying to loot bodies in a gang hideout that they had no part of in my opinion is really asking for it. Both actions break neighborly etiquette in my book and if I were alone or with some of my other friends and we hadn't already looted all the bodies, I / we would have killed them both. I guess luckily for them the players I were with were quite a bit more passive in this respect so we simply left them to dig through what was essentially nothing.1 point

I just can't do it. The online game is awful (for me) waiting 40+ levels to get the things I want, when leveling is just so painfully slow and griefing is everywhere. It's not for me. Horizon Zero Dawn the Complete set came out for $15 bucks a couple of weeks ago and I'm having a blast with it. If/when R* ever gets their act together and fixes the slow grind, constant griefing and actually puts more value in the online experience, (such as more story missions and a more immersive world) I will consider coming back. But until then. Meh. It's not worth my time.0 points
