  1. Clear the fort, after you kill Samson's partner set a timer for 25 minutes but don't blow up the supplies until 25 minutes has gone by. During that time you just do whatever, hunt, fish, pick flowers, take a nap, make dinner. For whatever reason Rockstar felt that they should reward you for how long it takes you to do the mission rather than how fast. Also big tip, Do NOT die. One death is acceptable but try not to. Take out the dude with the machine gun first, most people duck inside the cabin directly to the left just be careful there's a guy in there with a shotgun. I've found it easier to tackle and execute rather than just try to shoot him. Samson's partner can be difficult as you are better off shooting him through the window rather than kicking the door open cuz he too has a shotgun.

I feel blessed so far in rdr2 to have met some fun players who i can play hours with and not be bored or annoyed.but starting to realise its harder than i thought to make bigger posse as it can become very stressful.i just want to play for fun and tactics in game.to many players are secret griefers.who slowly show true colours.aint for me at all.i want to play for fun and thats it.

  4. Just had my first full session in a posse with people who wanted to have fun and not grief or annoy others for no reason. I must say it was the most enjoyable session so far. We watched each other’s backs, stuck together and roamed the map. I hope we meet up in RDR2 and roam the plains, forests and deserts in a tough, close, disciplined, respectful posse sometime soon.

  6. ....quite the opposite. I think it's quite clear most just want focus.....a goal for the group based on a common interest. For me, that is easier to accomplish with smaller groups. Not that larger groups in sessions haven't been fun, but I seem to get way more accomplished when it's 4 or less without all the farting around.

  7. I hear you. Seems to me I have more luck in groups of 4 or less. I've been in a couple groups of 7 and it tends to be chaos. Folks screwing around and yeah, sometimes one of them griefing another player and getting the rest involved.

  8. I just finished my 1st playthrough and i played it as you are doing on your 3rd. I never rush through open world games and the beauty of RD2 helped me tame any desire to do so.

  9. Then if they are that persistent we just let our more trigger happy members distract them while we continue to do missions. They are more like flies than anything at that point.

  10. I’m pretty sure that, in a way similar to the way horse bonding keeps ‘resetting’ between sessions or spawns randomly for no clear reason, weight for the character also has some bugs in it. I’ve tried a ton of different approaches to trying to put on weight, and there doesn’t seem to be a consistent answer. The best I’ve seen is that if I just consistently over-eat like 7 or 8 heavy meat items per game day, all through the game day, that SOMETIMES keeps me from dropping to underweight. But... sometimes not. It’s just not consistent enough yet. Here’s to hoping the new patch digs into it some and makes it more consistent. (Or at least, less finicky.) Notably, I do NOT have any issues keeping my horse “fit”. Like, ever. I feed it pretty much twice to three times per game day with high-nutrition items and that seems to keep her right as rain!

  11. Yep, I am in my third play through, and loving it more than ever. The first time I played the game I really didnt understand how open world games really worked and what game developers were capable of and what they are actually doing with these type games. The second time I played through it was because I felt like I left so much out the first time through. But what happened was I was just running around collecting stuff around the story missions and in the end it was fun, but not as good as it could be. The third time through though, I decided to mix it all together, so I play a story mission or two, then a stranger mission or two, then I go free roaming to try and get he satchel upgrades. Each time I do this I work on one thing or the other, like I have all the satchel upgrades by the first mission in chapter 3 and I would have had it in chapter 2 but I didnt realize I could get a panther early on, I was thinking I had to get hunter challenge 10 done so I could hunt the legendary Panther but as you know it is not necessary, so I stopped working on the challenge, ( challenge 6, skin 5 cougars after killing them with a bow, I have 2 left) this was taking me some time as they are tough to spawn regularly. Anyway I am having so much more fun, I have almost all of chapter 3 to do yet and I have done 9 companion items and delivered them, and I have the pipe and compass for when they eventually ask, I have the satchel upgraded to the max one, I have 4 legendary animals and 2 fish, 2 gunslingers, etc.. Doing it this way what is happening is I get to begin the chapter story, then do a few stranger missions, then go hunting and exploring. I went and got the white Arabian, and kept my horse out too and went on a legendary animal hunt, where I can carry two full size loads plus countless skins. I was able to carry a Black Bear, am Elk and a Legendary fish by carrying it myself lol anyway it is very satisfying working through the game in this way. When I go back to Rhodes in a little bit and go meet Dutch in town to kick off the story missions, I will feel like I already got the stuff I need like the horse, satchel, dead eye upgrades, etc.,. and it is just more fun. I dont even mind the Epilogue that much, I know it is slow and a little boring, but if you are like me, and did all the camp chores everytime they were ready to be done, you are used to it, the Epilogue was fun, but getting through it well sets up the rest of the game, all the stuff you can do in the southern part of the map and all that, so I really dont mind it at all. I wish there were more to do in that part of the map, a few chapters worth of stuff would be great, since we have the map and everything is in place, but I digress. I also grabbed a ton of items in the swamp when I was there so I am way ahead of the game when we get to chapter 4 and spend time in St Denis. anyway seriously, the third time playing the game is awesome!! It took me two other times to "Get it". Now my OCD is doing the rest. It feels very complete and fun this way. RDR2 ruined all my other games so may as well play it til I am sick of it If someone was going to begin now and asked me, I would suggest they do a similar thing, with a short list of items to get first, but the satchel upgrades are probably the most significant. My short list of things I wish were in the game, The ability to hang people The ability to climb trees The ability to use the lasso for other things like lowering yourself over a edge or pulling yourself up a cliff, etc.. Blacksmiths, we never have to deal with a horse shoe or anything and every town should have a livery and blacksmith, plus you coudl add road maintenance by having to do shoe repairs etc.. Using the telegraph, sending and receiving messages at times, would be helpful. That is my short list, hard to say I dont like anything in the game, I do, I love it.

  12. I know I'd like to see some changes made to the avoiding/diving. Nothing more frustrating than players diving all over the place like an epileptic dolphin half a dozen times then popping off a headshot before doing it all over again! Maybe it should expend half the stamina bar each dive and then half the accuracy for a short time which would be a little more realistic?

  13. And since I'm new to the forums. I don't grief anyone. And in a nutshell... ... although it has kinda dropped off for me I'm not afraid of a fight. I do avoid the cities where large posse's are and sometimes think that these knuckleheads just confuse you for an enemy in the heat of battle. What I can't stand is the griefer who hits you when spawning, fishing/skinning, leaving the butcher or any other time they run or fast travel away. It's so whimpy/ psycho boy to hit and run. 80% of the time I can see someone coming and can win a one on one or the individual griefer misses on the first shot. I have won a couple of battles against 2 or 3 man posses. You gonna grief someone as a posse than just start a hunt the leader mission is fine. I'm game (if I have the time and nothing better to do) I just feel it's the wild west but don't shoot a man in the back

  19. They've mentioned that they would bring the accuracy of the Varmint rifle "more in line" with other rifles. I hope that includes the acquisition time as that is one of the main reasons folks use it beyond its intended purpose.

  24. That's the biggest takeaway from all this. If someone is looking to level and practice game mechanics, this is the best option via grouping for story missions. Thanks for the invite. I'll be on the lookout when I'm online, but given locales and time zones, I'm more likely to be online when folks on the US West coast are playing (UTC-8:00), even though I'm on EST (UTC-5:00, right now, -4:00 in the spring and summer). Reason being, I wait until everyone else in the house is asleep, so there's nights I don't get on until 2200 or 2300. Not that I have official confirmation, but in discussing this issue elsewhere and on these forums, but it's been speculated that this is by design: that there may have been the intent to have this act as a "soft cap" for players so they didn't just burn through missions to boost XP and power-level with good groups. And it makes sense, from R*'s perspective--having a coordinated group of players grinding out six or seven missions (or more) in an hour and maximizing XP is probably not in the best interests of player retention when you could reward playing two or three missions an hour and maximize the XP/payouts. Not saying I agree with the decision or the logic, but I can understand the intent. I have a feeling that this will be tweaked when the game "goes gold" and the beta tag is removed. They'll examine the metrics and analytics to find "the sweet spot" which will probably look more like a Bell Curve for the rewards on missions; too fast, and players won't maximize their ROI, too long, and there will be diminishing returns. They'll have to balance it to prevent exploits like folks loading up on XP/materials within the missions. One thing I hope they don't do is put proximity markers on the missions or barriers to other parts of the map, but I have a sneaking suspicion that R* is probably looking at those methods to prevent what's currently happening.

Personally I've met a few cool people by letting them know what we were doing if there was just 3 of us and we get a random if we didn't ready up fast enough. And I can attest to grouping up being a game changer. The thing with delaying missions and being in a large posse really sped up my ranking. Also allowed me to learn from them and the things we experienced together. I'd invite you @BropolloCreed79 to join us some time if you like. Most of us are 100+ but there are some lower too. Usually there's enough online to form two posses or more. Loyal yet rambunctious group lol. Add me if you like. I'll be online in a couple hours.

  27. A lot of it has to do with people not mic'ing up or communicating in PUGs. Two weeks ago I ran into two players in a mission who explained to me what they were doing, and I was more than happy to go along with the plan. It ended up being quite enjoyable--much more so than aimlessly wandering around the map trying to grind out pelts for cash. This game was designed for grouping up, there's no two-ways about it. I loathe grouping with randoms, but I got lucky and found a couple groups to float in and out of who are of a similar mindset, and clear communication does a lot to make the game more enjoyable in the absence of actual endgame content or a "passive' toggle. Now, when I'm on, I actively look to group up because the game is a completely different experience than playing solo. They probably should have told you what they were doing, or they assumed you were aware of the exploit that R* has built into missions. The intent isn't to "ruin it for others"--it's to help others maximize their time in the game. Every group I've been a part of the last two weeks has implemented this strategy to get the biggest XP and $$$ payout from the mission they're playing. Once someone explained it to me, I was more than happy to go along for the ride. It also made the game far more enjoyable as I met some fun players to talk to, and eventually group with in Free Roam. And let me tell you, riding in a group of three or four in Free Roam has been a game-changer. Duos and single players keep an eye on you from afar, but they don't dare get close. Safety in numbers is a very real thing in the FR experience. But getting back to the groups; if you want to smash out missions as quickly as possible, you're probably better off finding a group of like-minded individuals and forming a posse, or else talking to the people in your pugs about what you want to do instead of judging them for having a different (albeit legitimate) strategy for completing the mission.

Im nearly losing my mind over a game.bad times haha.im definately sick of getting into hour long battles over silly moves.this wkend has taught me alot.when someones says dont shoot them.dont bloody shoot them unless they shoot at you then its on.otherwise someone has caused a battle and waisting my time in real life sitting there going over and over same thing.i back anyone up but im getting sick of it when people dont listen.i aint got time for all that no more.simple as.people can play how they want but if people wanna just wonder then go wonder in another posse that plays that way.i sit around for hours letting time tick down on missions so others can go roam and hunt.spend ages getting everyone in together.and loading up missions.spend more time than enjoying the game.spend ages helping others xp up as i got what i want out the game.trying to keep friendly vibe with strangers and on chat to make a friendly fun posse to enjoy this wonderul my favourite game.i cant have it where people are stressing me.gonna make a small military minded unit and keep it at that.cant please everyone.hate cutting people but im only in the game to enjoy it.simples.

  30. If that WAS their intention, i wish i had the ability to strip their level, and bring them back to level 1, losing all their stuff! Its so unfair, people trying to ruin it for others.. Those are the ones we should all team up, and kill together.. Over and over again! 😧

  31. "Griefing" and "ruining players missions" are two completely different things. Just randomly riding up and killing someone (especially repeatedly) is griefing - the player doing the killing gets no reward, and the person being killed has done nothing to bring it upon themself. They are likley to lose any pelts/carcasses they had collected, and probably had no chance to defent themselves. However, once you have started a stranger mission, you have (whether you like it or not), as the game is set up at present, deliberately entered a competitive play mode. Other players are invited to attack you, and if they can meet their objective, they "win" the mission, and you "lose" the mission. I don't like griefers, but if I go and start a stranger mission in an area where there are already lots of players, I expect to be attacked. That actually is the game as written. In fact, if this is a Wild West cowboy/outlaw game (and I think it is), then waiting for other players to start a mission, such as caravan escort or mail delivery, and then attacking them, is about as legitimate part of the game as you could hope for. If you want to be an outlaw, there's your outlet right there, attack other player's missions, for which you get cash and xp rewards. Not comparable to simply killing a random fisherman or a hunter heading to the butcher, for which (other than the nominal xp for the kill) you're not rewarded at all. While I am a friendly player (currently running at max honour), and don't often mess with other players' missions, I don't understand the attitude that some people seem to have that it is their god-given right to complete their mission and get the rewards, and that someone else attacking them is being unreasonable. It's not like the npcs who are sent to stop you are a genuine threat. Even for a low level player, they're little more than a bump in the road.

  33. There are few games I play more than once and even fewer I play 3 times. This will be the first game I intend to play 3 times through in many, many years. There is so much to see it is impossible to catch it all on one play through.

  35. I thought this was an option I was missing out on or something. I don't name them but if I could actually give them names in the game, I definitely would. Would be sweet to shoot someone and pick up a weapon named by the player.

  36. Funny that, you can apply it to real life not just gaming. lol I personally haven't had a huge issue with griefers. Had a few that bothered me but most will get bored if you ignore them or like you said, just hop off and onto another session.

  37. I spent the day playing RDR2 after work. I think my time was well spent. Had some Taco Bell for dinner too. I have celebrated the day a handful of times if the gal I am with enjoys it otherwise I don't bother.

  41. Good question. I think the save game file is tied to the game but I don't know if that could or would be transferred to a new copy of the game. My gut says no but I don't know for sure.   42. Considering RDR2 took almost a decade to come to fruition following RDR, I think 22/23 is an unlikely time frame for RDR3. If anything, the next GTA is on their radar right now.

  43. A couple of weeks ago I was riding away from lagras not galloping but not trotting either. I came up to like a set of trees or something. This lad runs out right in front of me. Not at me. it was like he was chasing something or being chased. Anyway I knocked him down but didn't kill him. I turned around to emote wave as if to say sorry. But pressed right trigger by mistake. Pulled out my bow and arrow and killed him. I felt awful.

  46. Not even out of Chapter IV yet. I started playing online and got sidetracked by the side quests in the story mode. Things really start to open up in Chapter IV--and so I've been muddling through everything at an almost glacial pace. Really, it's the same issue that stalled me out during Chapter II. I just keep getting distracted. Eventually, I'll buckle down and grind through the story, but most of my challenges are more than half completed, and the little things continue to suck me in I finally isolated the issue with my router that was contributing to disconnects and went deeeeeeeeeeep into the online rabbit hole over the last few weeks. Then my basement flooded last Wednesday during an epic thaw/rain storm. So I haven't even touched RDR's story mode apart from a few hours Wednesday night. I'll get back to it this weekend most likely. Trying to convince the wife that I don't need to go on the family ski trip to western NY (The Bro Show does not ski nor snowboard: I'm too old, too tall, and too anti-falling over and concussing myself) under the premise that I can stay behind and work in the basement before the rehab folks come in next week. I'll hook up the projector and play on that in my bedroom if nobody else is around, with a cooler full of porter and stout at my side.

  48. Simply rebooting won't clear the cache. On xbox you just have to exit the game.
