  2. I really wish we could make the facial hair shorter. I adored the #2 length 'tash I gave my Marston. But the full grown version of that same one looks hideous on my RDO guy. Same with two of the beards. Why is it 'all or nothing' in RDO when RDR2 had such a cool hair growth system? I used to love going to the barber after a week long hunting trip to cut Arthur's hair and get him shaved back to sexy cowboy stubble. And cleaning him up for the date with Mary really set the scene. So why can we only be clean shaven or have giant scraggly face growths? (or one stubble option.) Where is the variety in that? Also, several male NPCs have the super-long loose hair that goes down their back; eg Lee from the Montez story mission. Why can't we have that as an option? I'd be tempted to have a second character and make him a native american, long hair, appropriate clothes and weapons, and a cute paint horse to ride. While we are on the subject, what about a long ponytail? Or any other styles? They have a bunch of 'ugly' hair, including a balding comb-over I challenge anyone to want to use in-game. I know they want 'period appropriate' but it's still a game we play for fun, and I want to look good doing it. Come on R*.

  3. I hope RDR3 or whatever the next game will be called, will be set in the real Wild West. No matter if they keep using already known characters or if they to me, preferably will start a new story with new characters in the 1870-1880 era. I just want more of the real Wild West and less of the “turn of the century” or “the end of the gunman era”. I want to play in the gunman era when the telegraph was the newest and most modern way of communication and not the phone.

  4. Don't know why you keep acting like this is some new revelation that only you thought of. Players have been doing this since online first came out. I myself have gone into St. Denis killed an NPC, climbed up a nearby ladder to the rooftops and picked off the lawmen as they funneled up the ladder to get to me. I did this a few times when I was low level when needed to gain a quick level or two to unlock something I wanted, but I didn't do it often. Didn't want to. For the most part, I worked for my xp and I'm almost level 150 now. There's many players who don't want to speed level. They just want to sit back and enjoy the ride.

  5. Wow. I don’t understand why someone at that high of level feels the need to do that. I mean, I get it that they have dominated the game and are probably bored... but doing stuff like that just seems a bit immature.

  6. I'm going to move this to the RDR2 General forum as it's not exactly an introduction and seems to be more about advice. ....btw, there are a lot of us here that are over the half century mark so you're not alone.

  7. Hi Friends, I am half way through Chapter 4 and only just discovered how to Take Cover. A lot of the time, especially in major battles, I am totally confused and quickly killed. I am wondering whether I am too old at 75. Any other senior citizens enjoying RDR2 as much as I am? Sapper.

  8. Problem solved. If it happens again, just tag a mod in the post and request it be deleted

  9. I've sent a suggestion to R* about adding a length selector to the hair and beard styles. Maybe if more people ask for it they may inpliment it.

  10. I think if your that bored you need to find another game to get your interest. The hours it would take to get to level 350 would be an extreme investment of time if they are not a regular streamer.

  11. I agree, I like my character to have tight hair & neat mustache, but as of now he looks so shaggy. Hopefully when this supposed update that let's you redo your character comes out it'll have some new hair choices as well.

  13. For those that need gold to customize your weapons. Do Not forget to do your Daily Challenges. I've been doing the Daily's since day one. I've passed 21 days for my x2.5 gold reward bonus. I get 0.50 / half bar for each Daily objective. I get 5 gold bars a day for completing all 7 Daily Challenges.

  14. I don't get any points for originality, but I do feel at least 25% cooler riding around as Lee Van Cleef. And my horse is named Mortimer.

  16. So, lol I got a little triggered earlier, and just had to rant, I sent Rockstar my thoughts, then I thought, let me rant on the board, and get it all out. So, rant on, lol If you dont want to hear me whine about the game, just skip it. Multiplayer, I hate that you have to select a "series" then you get whatever you get. I hate it!! What bothers me is how awesome the game is, and how stupid this system is, I cant understand how they can get the game so right and then screw up the part that some of us take for granted. I mean it never occurred to me that they wouldnt just make a list of modes for us to chose and then leave us be, watch and see what we do with it, before they decide that wont work, and we want people to try them all so... I have had enough, I am just not paying pvp screw it. Why cant they just put in play a list, these are the game modes, pick the one you want and then go play it? Every other multiplayer game has figured this out, but Rockstar for some reason has some reason of their own that they will not give the players the power of choice and freedom to do what we want. I have no idea why, maybe they feel certain modes wont get any use ? too bad, I am not playing any pvp anymore because I dont like surprises, I hate loading in only to find out it is some mode I dont like and there arent enough people to make it fun anyway. I am not interested in these run around the map with a bow in silence, or run around the outskirts of a map and try to get back to your base, etc. there just dumb, I dislike them and would rather not waste my time with them. I just want it simple, death match, team deathmatch, capture the flag, team capture the flag, etc..maybe a few others, the territory one isnt bad if you are lucky enough to get on with people that actually have a $5 mic and will talk to you so you can work together, which almost never happens, so I give up. I say make me a list, let me select what I want and get out of the way. I sent this same point to Rockstar but I wanted to see who else feels this way, is it just me? Sadly it isnt so much that I dislike all of those, but I dont want to be forced to play them.. Same with these free roam events, fishing events, herb picking event, etc.. wtf Rockstar , make a list, let us chose, F off with these random events that pop up in free roam, if I want to play and event I would go to the multiplayer menu and select it, otherwise if I am in free roam for a reason. I dont want to be taken out of free roam to do anything, I am there for a reason, usually to level up, or make ammo, or craft tonics, etc.. then I go to pvp modes, but of course in this game it is all backwards. Anyway I am just super frustrated that something so great that I enjoy so much is so broken with so many flaws that seemingly are unnecessary. Beta is over stop it with market research and whatever other reasons you have for these crazy ideas, the game is great, stop trying to change every aspect of how we play Multiplayer games. Rant over, flame on.

  17. I think this game is directly pointed at us seniors. I certainly didn't trade in my controller to get my medicare card and I am pretty sure Rockstar understands we are still a viable market and they will do what they can to keep us around. Boomers are still 25% of the population and have the disposable income. I have been gaming since Pong and I am not going to suddenly change my lifestyle because of a calendar glitch. Besides toddlers, who has more recreational time to burn than us? Red Dead westerns hits us right in our youthful sweetspot. Movies, radio and television were dominated by westerns, war themes and gangsters. Our parents handed us plastic cap guns and chased us outside to create our own 1st person shooters with our friends. Who didnt want to be the Lone Ranger or Cisco Kid? I have some of the same problems as you, Pebbledash, My memory is fine but my recall is terrible. I keep a cheat sheet near for most controller moves. I am quite capable of forgetting how to mount my horse if I havent played in a week. I've punched him more than I care to admit and he always forgives me. I was a factory rat or a mechanic for 50 years and my hands are full of arthritis and bone spurs. I get by, but its good to see that manufactures are producing controllers for people with disabilities. The game is also quite good at letting you play at your own pace. I would avoid going to camp for days just so I could avoid missions. I spent a lot of time exploring the map and avoiding confrontations until I had pretty good grasp of how the game played. I would deadeye chipmunks and rabbits just for practice. This game also has some pretty reasonable enemies. No 50 foot tall acid spitting monsters that take an hour to kill. The game is interesting enough so that I never felt a need to rush thru it. As far as being to old to play games? I was 40 when I started and people would ask,"Arent you a bit to old to be playing a kids video game?" I always considered it as my hobby and just as reasonable as collecting stamps. Enjoy the rest of your game!

  21. No, he’s not describing RDR online, more like Baulder’s Gate set in the 1890-1910 era, with optional co-op story play ability...

  22. I’ll do the same... I tried to model my character after a drunk trailer park supervisor from a kind of dumb TV show I liked to watch for a laugh... almost there if i could only give him a haircut.

  24. Cowboy action shooting. KC's Corral annual club championship entitled Thunder in the Brush, which was just last month. About 50 people total, 3 posses over a 2 day period. Top picture is my posse and that is me shooting pistols gunfighter category. The Lady in the purple shirt is picking up my rifle casings and shotgun hulls. She was Virginia State Lady's Champion couple years ago, very fast shooter (I can't beat her). She also tutored me in black powder reloading. Her alias is Sassy Shooting Sours, guess where I got my characters last name from. That is her husband behind me holding the timer in his hand. Have got the SASS Virginia State Black Powder Shootout coming up in a couple of weeks. Will try to get more pictures. Most everyone will have the best cowpoke looking outfit they have on.

  25. THIIIIIS!! The female ponytails are hideous. No straight hair ponytails, just curly hair and they both have a giant hair-part right down the middle of the head. For Singleplayer, my Arthur has the swept back style with fading on the sides and set to the shortest or next length (depending how often I take him to the barber). I can't see them adding hair growth to Online especially since they do charge Gold bars for some hair styles, it would be frustrating to constantly spend RDO$ or Gold to maintain a certain look. But there's absolutely no reason why they can't add the length adjustments to choose from.

  26. I've never done one of these before but last night before my posse got on I was tasked with killing a guy as part of a stranger mission. He was holed up in that farm building with the donkey and ox near Emerald ranch. It was 1 v 1, though I didn't catch his level he certainly knew more about strategy than I did. I actually got him with about 10 seconds to spare. What a rush!

  27. I have never used defensive mode. I figure that would only let others know I wanted to either be left alone or am scared. It doesn't make them leave you alone so if they want to shoot you they are going to anyway. Why bother?

  28. There is a lot of potential about the hair part, and also seeing as the NPC´s have different types of the ones we can choose. i had hopes, that they would have done the hair thing, the same way as in Story mode. It was cool! , and more realistic!

  29. Many thanks for the responses to my query about the age of players. I have only played Resident Evil 4 and 5 before, starting after age 70. The difference between those games and RDR2 is the moral element of the latter - it is definitely different killing zombies or multi-headed monsters. I am so emersed in RDR2 that all my emotions are engaged - guilt, shame, (collecting debts from the likes of the Downes family) embarrassment (at my incompetence) and joy and wonder at the wilderness and wildlife. I am an atheist but it seems to me that the AI acts as a kind of Creator with an ethical agenda non-existent in the non-gaming world. The minor key music that swells up after particularly emotional moments swallows me up at times. And always after I have committed some atrocity accidentally - punching my beloved horse, shooting a woman I meant to help home, arresting a man who pleaded for forgiveness and redemption because I didn't know what else to do to progress, and because the function of some buttons mysteriously changes. There are many lessons for life in this 'game' that is not a game at all but a very real part of my life and search for my own redemption.

  30. My Posse versus is all ways grey out. To solve the problem I have to keep switching servers / reform posse / create a camp and see if it works. If it still doesn't. I had to switch servers and try again. I had to switch servers 3 times before it started working. Also, it still might glitch after the 1 race.(Like it did for me) I switch servers again and it started working again. I only seem to get my posse versus (race, bird, herb contest )working in The Heartlands, right under the Heartland Oil Fields.

  31. I have two characters, 8 horses including the breeds you mention Ed. I don't think rockstar's going to tell you about the characteristic of each breed and gender, but I will tell you what I know from experience. One of my Posse members bought a $130 horse for its looks. That's the smoothest handling horse I've ridden in the game. I used a very helpful chart in rankedboost.com. I wanted stamina and speed. The perfect combination came by using hooded stirrups and the upgraded Gerden Trail saddle (the upgraded Stanger Roping is rated nearly as high). While my higher-level character does have and exotic (beaver) saddle, the expense and waiting for the level to get it done are not necessary. My horse of choice for both characters is the Nokota Dappled Grey. It didn't occur to me that I picked the same gender, a mare, with my second character so I can't speak about the stallion. Moondance, outfitted as stated, is lightning fast with amazing endurance. I want to get away or get to my destination. My Turks are skittish and way too slow to arrive when I whistle. Moonie is always right there when I need her. That's more important to me than her fear of gators and wolves because I prepare for those predators in advance.

  36. Nice outfits, the colours go together really well. You'll fit right in if we ever get to go South of the border. You can get better shots by taking photos with your in-game camera, you can then either upload them to Rockstar Games Social Club and copy them from there or screenshot/capture them on Xbox while viewing them in your gallery. Here's a few shots of my character in various outfits.

  37. I did this when I wanted to lower my honor so I could play the remaining story missions that you cant play as a high honor player, it was fun. But I made a lot more xp hunting, sometimes I dont even stop to skin them, just shoot everything that moves and mix up the weapons use pistols, arrows, etc.. shoot every bird of every size that you encounter, shoot everything, every Buffalo etc.. shoot everything lol and XP adds up fast. I made 25000 xp today in 5 hours, thats 5000 xp per hour, and I made 11 gold bars in the same time, a combo of hunting, running stranger missions, clearing hideouts, clearing campsite ambushes, running 2 or 3 stranger encounters, and doing 5 daily challenges.

  38. Oh totally man, we need players, and new players are not a nuisance unless they make themselves one, I was just pointing out that most of the issues I have online with other layers, are lower level players lately. I was a new player too, I just didnt bother people or shoot at them and make excuses for it.

  39. First let me say Welcome to RDR2O and these boards, lots of very cool people in here. Your story is like a thousand others, mine included, actually if you poke around and read some of the posts you will see others very similar to your own. I recently made one summarizing my journey from level 5 to level 100. The player killing as you have seen doesnt make much sense, sadly it is mostly new players, lower levels, bored or just not quite sure what to do and they cant seem to resist shooting people. They are often so low level they dont have any ability cards, or decent guns, horse, or camp, lol but meh its no where near as bad as it was 10 weeks ago. Today with the defensive mode things are a lot better but not perfect. As you mentioned they get no benefit from killing you or your horse or game, but they just like to bother people, now, you can press charges, and then once they attack you they turn red and you can now shoot them back and not incur a penalty or any bounty or honor adjustment, so that is all kind of new and seems to have really slowed the griefing problems we were having. Now you can press charges if you are attacked, plus you can then get revenge and it wont hurt your player, or you can parlay and they cant keep doing it, or you can just free roam to another session all together to get away from them. One tip is when you enter the game do so in the opposite side of the map you plan to play in, so for example, if you want to play near Tumbleweed, then spawn into St Denis or Rhodes, or Somewhere like that,t then free roam or ride your horse to Tumbleweed, doing this will help minimize the number of players near you in Tumbleweed, it works like that anywhere you want to go. For me hunting and fishing was the primary thing I did to earn cash to buy upgrades and level up. Your best bet is going to be do all the story missions, they pay really well for new players, but also do your daily challenges every day at least one and you can earn gold and cash and I think xp that way too,do at least one daily challenge every day for a week and you get a gold bonus multiplier, and if you go 14 days it goes up, 21 days and then after 28 days it goes up again, so the more consecutive days you can log in and do at least one daily challenge will be very helpful for you as you level up, and with 1 gold bar for each level you clear right now you can really clean up if you jump in and do all the early stuff, you can easily do 2 levels a session right now and that means 2 gold bars everyday you log in. Also do the two step verification with Rockstar and they run a promotion for 10 gold bars I think it is, and cash, etc.. also replay all the story missions after for more xp and gold, you can change your honor to play the remaining story missions as you wont be able to play them all if you have high honor or low honor, you have to be 75% low honor for some, and 75% or better high honor for others and lastly play the pvp modes they dont pay out great unless you win and even then they arent fantastic but they do go fast and they add up quickly, while you are playing you can learn a lot. If you didnt know, all your guns can be modified and by doing so will make them better, in accuracy, damage, etc.. so that is something you def want to do, even with the carbine and double barrel shotgun as you will use those in "name your weapon" pvp mode, so you want to have the same strength as everyone else. Anyway, best bet is to level up quickly and right now with gold bar incentives to level up its a great time to be starting. Fish, hunt, do stranger missions, story missions, daily challenges, anywhere you see smoke, go there and see what the encounter is, etc.. Good luck and you can read up here on the board about many other peoples experiences and problems/solutions as they come up, so definitely check that out too, Oh, I forgot, You said you just recently got the game? If you havent played the single player game I STRONGLY suggest you forget about the online, and go pay the single player game, there are so many things I could never cover in this post, but it is simply amazing!! Way way better than Online, I mean 1000% better, seriously the story is great, the acting is good, but there are so many things to find, discover, explore, etc.. it will blow you away if you havent played it,. I payed it three times all the way through and the final time was amazing because I knew the story and I knew about all the hidden things and the rewards like upgraded satchel, and trinkets and talismans and dino bones, dream catchers, rock carvings, etc.. there is so much to do and see and learn and explore in the single player you definitely should go play that first, play it will tech you a ton of stuff

  40. Yeah, I can appreciate that. But other than a few, I don’t think people really want an invincible mode. I see defensive mode as less a protection method and more of a flag saying ‘look, I’m busy. Please leave me alone’. It keeps the semi honest PvP enthusiasts away from you. And it has a little bit of built in protection from low level experimenters. But, much like a padlock isn’t going to stop a dedicated thieving prick from taking your stuff, defensive mode won’t stop a dedicated ass of a griefer from killing you while he makes videos of himself giggling like a prepubescent girl...
