It poses an interesting question I think - why does R* not do something with regard to this griefing issue altogether?
There's little point in people becoming hysterical as many are on YouTube. Rather, calmly and coolly one has to ask .... Why?
For example..... Is it historically proven that 'game griefers' spend more money on transactions than non-griefing players? Or some other reasons which I cannot be bothered to think of.
Also one has to say, this forum has a few active members with a membership total of c.1872. ...... Meanwhile YouTube content makers, attract thousands of views ... But the first weekend alone, 17 million copies were sold.... 17 million....... This means we are all in a tiny, tiny minority of players.
See I don't believe that griefers will spend more money then non-griefers. I think the issue is you don't see the non-griefers effects cause you don't see the effects of it, they don't do it just to grief.
As for YouTubers, that is because no one wants to do the work themselves. They want to see the shortcuts, the cheats, the glitches. They YouTubers can get away with teach people how to do all that because they are providing free advertisement.

I almost feel like trains are a myth in this game, as I see them so rarely, so I can only assume you're spending a lot of time reeling in the fish.
The train tracks are going to be your best bet, though. It really shouldn't take more than a few minutes to reel him in if you're using the advanced technique of pulling up repeatedly on the rod. Once I learned this technique, legendary fish became very easy to catch. If you're not familiar with it, just move the left analog stick down repeatedly while reeling in at the same time. It feels kind of like patting your head and rubbing your stomach at the same time, but I'm able to do it by just looking at the controller and not the screen.
Thanks, I got the techniques down. It's just seems trains will come by if I try to stand on them too long. On one occasion, I waited till the train passed. I stepped forward to fish and it took a few seconds to get the fish to latch on and was reeling it in and another train came a long and killed me. I am positive that train could not have made it around the map and cameback that fast.

It seems to me that it has.
People have now had much more practice, everyone is just better. And many have got the maps down: spawn points, hiding spots, sniping locations etc. Position seems so much important now. And everyone now uses the belly-flop spam thing.
With higher levels, and all the gold and cash being thrown around, comes increased ability cards and upgrades and PvP specific load outs. And, of course, better weapons, upgrades and improved ammo.
I also think there's much more co-operation and voice contact; even in supposedly single modes some are obviously working in teams.
Any exploits are now known and utilised, though I think the upgrades have done well to reduce the amount of glitching and lag. Some people do seem to have 'superpowers' on occasion in PvP.
Most importantly, I suspect (anecdotally heard) that a number of casual players have stopped bothering with PvP modes because they're a bit too sweaty or frustrating. There's fewer easy targets now.
Anyone else noticing this, or have I just gone crazy?
For me it's tougher cause I am still having issues where I have to unload to kill with a headshot. Where as my opponents' are just taking one headshot to kill me. Now to top it off as you stated, players are getting better at the game. You also have the glitch users, cheaters, and the P2W with the Gold Cards. It would be even harder and the real griefing can start.

I joined a group last Friday from the Microsoft Game Club, apparently I missed the part where they said RP. When I joined they was all in the saloon drinking. Some rode by and started shooting up the joint and they got mad when I fired back and killed the player. At my age, drinking in real life or in a game just ain't what she used to be. They all died, so afterwards they asked me to leave. Which was fine, cause I was seeking to go make money and xp, not set around and just pretend to drink and talk to others. To each their own, I moved on and though I was in the same server, I just moved away so they could enjoy whatever it was they was trying to do.

I need help with this one. I have tried fishing for him on a boat and from all the shores. I get no bites. I fish for him from the tracks, I get a bite almost everytime, but the train always comes through while I am fighting to reel him in. So how do you get him?

You can be shot or roped while dealing with a merchant. I have had it done several times already. I think it may be a lag issue, but it has happened.

Ya but its R* that gives the trolls the tools needed to easily be di*ks with.
I mean i don't work for R*. But it doesn't take a genius to see that always on blips and auto aim is meat grinding made easy.
Just look at GTA O. Its clear R* likes trolls because it it hinders it screws over players trying to make money and hopefully pushes them towards cash cards.
And in RD O. You got missions, for example the Bonnie Missions.. one is find and hunt the bear. So after tracking it down and killing it, the game decides to show everyone on the map you got a bear pelt and encourages people to come and get it... When it should NOT show anyone anything because its none their business.A few years back I had 2 friends. 1st one was dating a girl, things was going well. He was on the verge of proposing. Had the ring and everything. 2nd guy a bachleor for life kind of guy. So the night that the 1st guy decided to propose, he asked us all to join the 2 of them out for dinner, drinks, and dancing afterwards. So we got my 2 buddies, the girlfriend, a friend of hers, my wife and I. Now the 1st guy doesn't dance, but the 2nd guy did. So he danced with the other girls and as the night went on, he focused his attention on my friend's girl. Now the 1st guy wasn't given a chance to make his proposal cause the 2nd guy kept the girl distracted. Her friend wasn't happy and asked if someone could take her home. So the 1st guy said he could and he would be right back. By the time he returned the other 2 had slept together. The 2nd guy know how the 1st guy felt. He didn't have to pursue this girl, he did. She allowed it to happen. In the end the 2 guys hate each other. She has nothing to do with either. Yet, when the 2nd guy and I talked about it. His excuse was it was an accident. Nothing about his actions was an accident. For whatever reason he did it on purpose and he could have avoided it all together. Trolling is the same. They don't have to. They know better, but choose too. Rockstar has opened the door, but how a person plays the game, is completely on them.

Oh shut up, im so sick of all this crying.
R* the only company to not have a store open on launch day, we had 3 updates in 14 days.
The biggest problem with rd2 is the player base, everone wants it easy, and complain when cheap exploits gets shut down.
And no one hated on R* when they gave us all 250 and 20 gold.
No one is crying. For what they made off of the sales of the game the cost of the updates shouldn't be an issue at this point. I am happy the cheap exploits get shutdown, I hate when players use them. You are right that the playerbase has issues, everyone wanting everything too easy. So yes that includes players buying their way into the game, instead of playing the game. You are right when saying that no one hated Rockstar for giving free things away, especially around Christmas.
The Gold Cards are just a sign that this will be nothing more then a GTA Online remake for cash grab. Which means thing are about to get out of hand if not already for some.
Note: It was only 15 gold bars by the way.

Okay, say you and I are friends. We both get the game and for some reason it bugs you to think that I may beat to you to the end. So you rush through as fast as you can be the 1st one to have all the weapons, to be the 1st to be level 100. For some it is about rushing to be the 1st at everything, meanwhile others want to be the 1st in the world..

For some players it's about be the 1st they know, if not the 1st overall.

Going to have to disagree with you on that one. Online services are subject to Terms of Service. Gaming companies and developers employ armies of attorneys, both in-house and outside counsel to protect the company from risk exposure and lawsuits.
A common form of protection has been a trend away from calling an online experience a "game" and defining it as a "service". When you read the terms and conditions that usually get glossed over, part of the ToS is that you don't actually own the game, you're paying an access fee, or license, to use the content/service. There are arbitration clauses embedded into most of these agreements that people agree to when they select "I agree" prior to playing.
Guess who gets to pick the arbitrator? (hint: it's not the customer). Even if a claim against a company has merit (although when it comes to these things, 99% of claims do not), you're still looking at an arbitration process that will result in finding of no fault against the company and a paltry reward (if any). Now, you're saddled with extensive legal fees, which you won't be able to repay, since the arbitration clause probably prohibits the recovery of attorney's fees (meanwhile, in-house counsel or outside counsel on retainer speaks on behalf of the gaming company, costing them almost nothing by compairson).
And even if somehow, by some MIRACLE you are able to get a gaming company into court, they will throw MILLIONS of dollars into the case to win. Why? Because it sets precedent. If one claimant prevails, it opens the floodgates for similar claims. Hell, a smart attorney acting on behalf of the claimant would probably seek class status at the onset on behalf of all players similarly situated (it may or may not help the client, but it WILL significantly increase the firm's payout), and at that point you're looking at at least five to ten years of litigation, appeals, attorney's fees, subpoenas, discovery, motions....
At worst, the company may run afoul of some sort of regulatory body possibly paying a fine, but in terms of legal ramifications for not banning players?
I have a better shot of beating LeBron James in a game of one-on-one.Yes, but all of that is where the legal issues comes to play. ToS is their of covering all that. All software is pretty much covered by some form of ToS or the escape clause as I like to call it so that they can win almost every case. Even if you can get it to court and win. They probably got some sort of escape plan not to pay.

I must have been in the wrong spot. I'd drop dynamite, or throw it, in the water in between all the little bubble rings, and i'd get 1 fish, or maybe that's all i could find after the blast? I tried doing the challenge for getting fish without using the pole with dynamite, didn't work so well.
Shotgun fishing is fun, Used to do that way back when i was a kid when the irrigation canals would be emptied and start to freeze at my cousin's house. We'd take the shotguns out and blast the carp through the ice, until the ice got too thick to shoot through. Now you'd get some animal rights person, or a paranoid person hearing the shots calling the cops on you.
Fond memories lol
When I did it, I threw it just beyond the bubbles. Trying not to get too close. I got like 4 or 5 fish, but they was the lowest grade. If you throw it in the middle, then you probably destroy everything.

You just sound silly at this point. If they improve character appearance they will still fix the bugs and glitches. If they fix character appearance at all it will be after the bugs and glitches are taken care of obviously.
If you think I am sounding silly, it's because you don't understand how it works. We would like them to fix it all, but they won't. Eventually it comes down to fixing what is the biggest problems. Fixing your appearance need, could cause them not to have time nor money to fix other things that affect the whole community.

I never said rockstar bans anyone we tell them too and i highly doubt lag causes people to be griefed.
Look all im saying is griefing is against the code of conduct why are you even arguing with me?
All you need to do is go to anyones profile hell even yours go to report and then down to unsporting behavior and griefing is listed as one of the rules you can break.
I am trying to clarify, griefing is bad but only if whoever makes the rules enforces them. There is too many that can grief and some may or may not get punished regardless if anyone reports them and then it can be a lengthy process for anything to get it done then.
Part of that process is finding proof that the person is even guilty. Like you said you can go report me, but then it needs proven, cause if they ban the wrong person. There can be legal issues.

Embarrassing them, hoping they leave the server to go torment someone else. Really isn't fixing the issue, it's passing it on to the next one.

I try it with a shotgun. Not much left but if good you can get 2 or 3 at a time. Dynamite works well to, you get a lot more per attempt. They are all worthless, but quantity over quality I alway say. hehe Just kidding, I have tried other opitons, but they turn up being a waste.

In free roam you're kind of stuck dealing with the pests.
I still don't know why people bother reporting players. Its R* fault, not the trolls.
Trolls don't have to be trolls, they choose to be. That is why I don't completely blame Rockstar.

I upgraded my horse already to an Arabian so that helps but even so, I was holding my own with the Kentucky Saddler(?) I was given free during the tutorial mission. Again, the key is keeping distance and using the terrain to slow them down.
Unfortunately, there is nothing (at least that I could find) from R* to describe various mechanics in this game. It is my understanding that when crouching in free roam (you'll see your icon turn grey) does keep your player icon off the radar. ......maybe I'll experiment a bit with a friend this weekend. It has seemed to work for me even when trolls try to make a B line for our position. As soon as I crouch, I move as far as possible (staying crouched) from the spot I first crouched. If it does work a they say, that would be the last spot on the map they would have seen you. My friends and I would take up cross fire positions and wait for the enemy to come. They never seemed to know exactly where we were as long as we were concealed.
Sorry you're having such a tough go of it. If you were on PS4 I'd suggest we get together to help each other out. .....but according to a certain someone, all you have to do is report these guys and MS will ban them all. Problem solved, right?
To me some don't understand what a lengthy process banning a player can take.
I will stand corrected, for those who work for Microsoft, Sony, or Rockstar. I am sure the banning process can be expediated and players banned on a whim. For those of us who don't have those connections. We have to suffer for a spell till they do their jobs.

People are using this against other players. I know if you are in the middle of buying something or interacting with a merchant you can't be shot and the fast travel spots grant you some protection as well. Soon as they think they can get you, they come out and just go guns blazing.
This isn't true, at least not anymore. I have been shot and lassoed while dealing with the butcher.
@kromdar29no this is not a in town only thing. i have seen players riding out in the middle of nowhere ghosted, i dont know how its done but i can only guess that it is some kind of glitch/hack/exploit.
No doubt and I have been seeing it more and more lately. Was doing a mission and saw a player do it. He was moving from NPC to NPC killing them with his knife.

I doubt it is the same people that make the 3d models as those who fix glitches.
It does not matter to you, but what is wrong with caring how others feel?
If there was something other people were worried about that I did not care about i would not be against rockstar fixing them.
For example, a lot of people are getting lipstick on their male characters when entering the barber chair. Also, beards have been vanishing from male characters. And since visiting the barber gives them makeup that can not be removed they can not put the beard back on. I don't have a male character, so it is not affecting me.
That does not mean I am going to tell them not to complain so rockstar will fix the things I am concerned about instead.
Rockstar will fix the bugs and glitches, no doubt, but the things I that I am worried about may never be fixed. Especially with people like you saying its fine.
What you aren't understanding is they have fixed resources. At some point they will start pulling employees from this project to work another. Then we are stuck with the remainder of whose job it is to maintain the game and fix issues as they occur. So why you get worked up about your appearance, then something else won't get fixed or even looked at. Now if they was willing to spare all of the issues. Then go for it. It will be unlikely they fix it all.

As for outrunning, I beg to differ. You most definitely can outrun griefers especially if you use the terrain to your advantage. I've done it several times. ....but then again, if you're not keeping an eye on your minimap (and periodically the big map), you're taking a big risk in getting rolled over by someone. It's second nature to me now checking the radar, etc.
Also, remember that when crouching, the enemy cannot see you on the map. Use that to your advantage. As soon as you crouch, move from that spot to another close by with cover. When playing with friends, we've had pursuers where we purposely stopped, crouched and moved to defensible positions. In one recent event, a solo player we had been keeping an eye on came up on us fast. We were off the beaten path and you simply don't do that without expecting a bad result. Anyhow, I immediately gunned him down. When he respawned he came after us. We dismounted in a tree line, crouched, took cover and blasted him as he approached. We moved from our previous positions (again, staying crouched) as he approached again. This time he left his horse at the base of a ledge, I waited behind a large tree until he passed me and then we opened up on him. I made it a point at that stage to purposely go over to his horse and kill it. .......he left the session.
I shouldn't have to say it but playing with friends is probably the best way to increase your chances of staving off attacks and surviving them as well. ....but there are ways to still play solo and avoid them for the most part. Until we get private sessions, passive options, etc., this is how I do it.
As for outrunning them, if their horses are faster then yours, which usually that is one thing they upgrade and they generally run in a Posse. It isn't hard for them to catch you.
I have been crouching in cover and had players travel from town straight to me. So I ain't positive that crouching always works. As far as how many griefers you see really depends on the servers you have access to. Usually the region you are in will put you into the same area of griefers. It is funny, I play some in the morning and some at night. The players in the morning have always been out to grief. You spawn in and you can check the map, they will have already started heading your direction. Meanwhile at night, I have seen players move away once I have spawned in and won't bug me the whole time I am playing unless I initiate something.
You are right, you can take precautions to a point, yet you can't avoid it. Running off to another server or running to the farthest point on the map. It doesn't help every time griefers will grief as much as possible. As far as always joining a posse, unless you have friends on all the time, randoms seem to only worry about themselves and don't give 2 cents about a group agenda.

I highly doubt a company said you could harass and ruin someone elses experience.
You "i know players have been banned in other games, while others do the exact same thing and got reported and still played for months or years without any consequences"
Okay, the zodiac killer murdered a lot of people and was never caught the police dont even know what he looks like.
That happened over 50 years ago and was never punished... There ya go ladies and gentlemen murder is now LEGAL according to this guy.
No it isn't, but if it is never enforced. Then to many it is legal, cause there is no one stopping them. Rockstar isn't. Microsoft isn't. Sony isn't. A company or companies not doing anything to many is the same as allowing. Glitches and cheats in a game get abused everyday. They do things rarely, punish a few hoping word gets out, yet they let other do it non-stop. The issue with having to be the heavy or the bad guy that enforces the rules. You have to be the bad guy, if not players will walk over you, knowing you won't do a thing about.
If you have rules, that MUST BE ENFORCED. ToS is nothing but legal mumbo jumbo that they use to their advantage, not ours. As long as you have players saying it's a gray area, that translates into they ain't doing dang thing about it.
I am all for them enforcing the rules. You got players on this form admitting to that they use cheats or glitches, that it is a gray area. Those things are against the ToS. Yet unless someone enforces it, it gets ignored.
To say that Xbox, Sony, or Rockstar will JUST ban someone because we say so is bull. They have process and there are times that takes months for them to filter not hours and not days and not weeks. Months. Seriously, what if you or I are just bad at a game and their great. It may look like they are cheating. What if it's lag?

Well, whether you or others decide to stick it out is entirely by choice. Personally, I'm just trying to make the best of it and to be honest, I'm having a lot of fun so far. Of course I want a lot of the same things others want which I believe will come in time (at some point). Whether you're willing to wait or not is entirely up to you.
I'm not trying to convince anyone to stick around if they are not happy with the game. ......but I'll certainly help those who would still like to play and try to make the best of the experience in its current form.
Just because I'm suggesting alternatives like avoiding random players / trolls doesn't mean I'm happy with the current state but I also realize that this is just a beta and I have learned to live with it.....for now. Whether I stick around for the long haul will depend greatly on the direction they go with the final release and beyond.
Right now there is no alternatives. You can't out run griefers, you appear on the map. There is now where to go if they really want to grief you.
I agree enjoy the game and see what happens, but then again I have had some great sessions and I have had some horrible sessions. In truth, there was very little control other then play it or quit it. If that is the options, then the game has issues. They need addressed now.
