My new policy is to largely ignore the grind and play for fun. Easier to say than do, though.
Sure, I'll still hunt and sell etc - but only so long as it is fun. I'll hunt for a bit, fish for a bit, then do something else. I wont keep pace with the dedicated farmers and grinders, but so what? So long as i play enough to just about make sure I'm not totally over-powered in the death matches I'll cool with it.
Glitches are tempting, but if boring, why bother? It's not so much a moral issue for me, as just a I want to play to have fun issue.
Sounds like we need to catch each other online. Go have some fun.

You don't want to put yourself into other people's shoes then alright, I've done it honestly up to the point where I lost half a day worth of playing by servers disconnecting me constantly, by day I mean in hours I've played a total of 12 Hrs since it released dealing with bugs making my stuff vanish, I wish I had more time to play so all this frustation would cease earlier but I don't, and now I have to do the same sh*t over and over again because that is the only thing that does not vanish when the game decides I shouldn't be playing anymore... like whenever I am, if I go AFK for some reason my character only gets disconnected by inactivity instead of some retarded problem, the system is ****ing me up so I want anarchy... at the end of the day I don't want an edge on somebody else at the end of the day I want my ****ing things back.
@Bonzai Sorry to hear this happened to you. Unfortunately, that is all we can offer. This is a Beta Testing. Go to Rockstar Forums and let them know. As a player in the community, please to abuse the game and support game breaking issues. You are not the only one being affected this way. Bringing chaos may not affect your game, but it could to someone else. If they then have to waste time fixing the cheats and glitches that you abuse, then they may never spend time fixing the issues that originally started you down that road.
A game company will have a limited budget for such things and so they will only focus on is the biggest fire that they think they can fix within their resources. Long term hurts the game.
On a side note, please don't take this the wrong way, but at the end of the Beta. There is a chance you will lose everything and have to start all over anyway. It is Beta and nothing is guarenteed til the real game is released.

Why? Do it for the Lulz.
Same reason as why vandalise public toilets, bully children, and troll post youtube comments.
Given that you cannot steal anything from anyone, it can be the only reason.
I dont mind, actually I enjoy, having a sense of threat from rival posses trying to interfere in a mission, or get into a fair gun fight, or start a bar brawl. But this kind of silliness, like shooting a pelt loaded horse, or camping at the butcher, or lassoing people stuck in animation, and ganging up on a solo player for no reason .. it's just bullying, tbh.
I only happened once. I was selling stuff at a butcher and someone lassoed me drug me down the street. I respawned and chased down the player. Who ran into a NPC hideout and let them kill him. I waited for him to respawn, figuring he wanted to PvP. Yet when I would go near him he would kill himself or do something to get himself killed. After a few attempts made by me, he left. After that I have only seen it happen to others.

Man ... at this rate, it'll take, what, 150 hours of gameplay just to buy something with gold ...
Seems a redundant currency format. It can only mean microtransactions - and i wonder how expensive that'll be? How much for 10 gold, I wonder?
For you my friend, Rockstar can sell you just 10 golden nuggets for only $99.99. Now friend don't shake your head. You do this 100 times, then you my friend can be able to turn in all those golden nuggets for one useless digital artifact that is completely useless outside the game. hehehehe
I hate those microtransactions.

I was hearing plenty of players, who while they was selling items or checking their maps. Others would ride up and shoot them and then run off and avoid retribution. Is anyone willing to explain why this is neceassary for PvP? This isn't the 1st game I have seen this, but it always seems to amaze me when I see this kind of thing and hear others complain about it like it's something to online gaming.

I have notice that when i kill a animals and if i walk small distance away or even sometime just turn my back to skin another that some will disappear and if u leave your horse a small distance away carcass and pelts can be lost!
Yet later in the game, you can clean your horse and afterwards you will have all those pelts reappear. At one point hunting, we got ambused and I died. When my horse returned it had no pelts. When hunted new ones, went and sold everything, went back to the horse and there was more pelts. Went back and sold those. I think sometimes the game gets overwhelmed and they temporarily disappear and then at some point they reappear. I know someone who reported this to Rockstar.

Does anyone else do 'circuits'?
In order to create variety and stop it becoming too monotonous, I prefer to hunt in circuits that mix up hunting, herb collection, fishing, shack searching, bandit camp clearance, and I sometimes throw in the odd murder too, before selling stuff (and maybe ending with a saloon brawl).
It's not as efficient, but more fun!
This weekend, every group I was with. We would ride to go do something and ended up after a few minutes that stopped and we did other things. I noticed after hunting a certain area animal spawns would slow way down. So we traveled and hunted, I'm not high enough to fish yet. We did missions, killed bad people, killed bad animals, robbed bad businesses. Just in case you haven't noticed everything we did we cause we was the good guys and they was bad. The bounties was just fake news.

I am not one to complain and I understand the whole ordeal. I have been part of some games going through beta testing before but never ones on this level of popularity. With that being said, I tried some online today and it was just too buggy for me. I ran into some issues, quite a number of them actually and it really frustrated me. Not to mention you have random people on every server who may or may not screw with you. I stopped playing after about 2 hours and contacted Rockstar with all the issues I had and my general feedback. I really don't think I want to play it anymore as it stands... And I think that is okay. I mean I played, gave some feedback, I did my "part" so to speak. I do want to play but in the state it is in right now, I just can't enjoy it.
Do you guys think some of us should just wait until beta testing is done? I know quite a number of people are getting upset over the bugs, glitches, and what seems to be a lack of overall player consequences for being a di*k to other players. I am thinking if you are as frustrated as me to just give it a bit of time, let Rockstar know what is up, and then wait till they are done is probably the best choice.
Beta testing is really for those who find a bug, glitch, or cheat and willing to take time to contact Rockstar to report it. So it can be fixed, most players don't do that, they see access to early release. If they find issues they will use them for the advantage and not say a word to anyone who can fix them. Usually they make a YouTube video making it worse cause then everyone is trying to do it or come on the forums and claim it isn't cheating and that it is ok hoping others will do it as well.

Why is it so dang hard to make money! Very off putting!
Reptition, more willing you are to keep playing to get a certain item means they succeeded. There just need to be a happy middle ground and that is where the beta comes in. To see if players are willing to grind an activity a million times to get a new gun for horse.
Look at GTA Online, many activities paid about 20k and just about anything worth having costs several millions. How many missions does a player re-run till they get what they want. What will they farm for after they get it, what needs to be done after they get it.

You claimed its cheating.. Its on your to prove why its cheating. Not me.
I could care less.. I did it a few times to make $50.
And yes.. you need a rule book if you're gonna start telling people they are cheating. Or just mind yo bizneszz
I don't work for Rockstar. When and if they choose to ban your account you can accept that as proof. So I don't have to prove it. What I know is if they ban you they won't play the "oh we didn't know, that you realized you was cheating over and over and over." They will ban you and that will be that. If you don't care then it won't matter. I have spoke with those who got banned in GTA Online, cause they used a glitch and didn't know any better, *wink *wink.
I would also suggest if you come on forums and claim to cheat, I will point it out for 2 reasons. 1st) you may actual don't realize you're cheating and can be banned for it. No refunds. 2nd) your cheating and bragging about it in the forums can lead to others doing it, which could get them banned. In turn, that decreases the shelf life of the game. Which I do enjoy playing.
So if you want to brag about it, it makes it my business cause you are affecting the whole community which I am a part of. Also if you do feel a need a rulebook, feel free to look up the Terms of Service for the game. It is usually pretty general to cover their backsides legally. They may or may not doing anything, but if they do they can ban you no questions asked and with no warning.

Last night a friend and I was out hunting by Fort Mercer. Having some fun and at one point we are chasing a deer and we chase it over a hill. As we go after there was another player and he immediately shoots and kills my friend with one shot. I hit him with a couple of shots to the head and claim our deer. My friend arrives and the other player shows back up and starts shooting at us again. We dispose of him quick cause we was ready for him. We head into Fort Mercer planning on this to blow over so we can get back to hunting. The players start coming in one at a time trying to get us. Each time we kill them and then the next and so forth. Before we know there ends up a dozen or so players outside trying to get to us. At this point I haven't died and my buddy has died only once. Others had died several times, location and cover and help a lot. So why are trying to figure out a plan on how to get out of this, some of them start fighting outside. So we just ride out and leave them to it. We kept playing for about an hour after that and the action was pretty non-stop there the whole time. I don't even know if they ever realized we even left. hahahaha

Actually it is subjective.
Either way.. show me where in the Red Dead Online rules that says.. I have to join a game and stay in that game and never leave.
Besides i make more money now hunting and fishing.
Show me where in the tutorial, it says to loot, then change games and immediately loot it again and again. Common sense serves better then excuses. In life there are just some things that are right and some are wrong. You shouldn't need a rule book to explain cheating and not cheating.

Cheating is subjective. In this case, nothing i did was against any rules or wron..
Looting a cabin and then joining a new game and looting it again, is not cheating.
What i choose to do with the money i 'earned' and who i choose to shoot with the guns i buy doesn't matter. I sure as hell don't go around shooting people for no reason.
The random i saved from a cougar attack with the bolt action i bought, (who had animal skins on his horse) sent me a huge "I love you message'
What does that even mean?
Hell i also found a cabin that constantly spawns express rifle ammo (Il tell people where, but only in a pm)
No it isn't subjective. You are cheating if you think the game was designed for you claim and item, immediately switch to a new game over and over is what they intended. You are cheating and seem perfectly ok with it. I say own it, don't try to lie to us into thinking it is ok to cheat and glitch the game.
Maybe you don't go around shooting other players, but there are many that do. Those players generally stalk players they know they can get easy kills for "Fun".
Now all this said, I'm not that player that will report you either. I don't tape my games and I often find the game companies unwilling to do anything without me jumping through hoops that they should be jumping through.
I just believe if you are going to cheat, accept it. Just don't try to buffalo everyone else.

I don’t see where you got the idea that people doing this where doing to shoot honest players... I for one only shoot trolls that pick a fight with me without a reason.
Why use a glitch to make money? Most players will use a glitch to buy better gear and advantages. Guns and Horses.
Many not all players that race for these benefits do it so they have an edge in PvP in a shooter game. Now by the examples I have seen in the past of games like this. Those same players will go looking for players that off doing there own thing for sake of fun. Now if you are just starting out, do you really want to have some tool that is already level 20+ and bored deciding to kill you, wait for you to respond come and kill you again and again and again and again. Eventually, that kind of PvP gets boring and yet Trolls just won't stop. They you find yourself quitting and complaining about the game and telling everyone how bad it is. Not because of the game, but because some players have no restraint. Now if you are lucky a player like myself may intervene, but then your attacker feels the same way you did, cause now I ruined their fun.
So the money you gain from cheats and glitches to give you a upperhand? While others are grinding the game to death?

Can this be done on the xbox?
Yes, but they will require proof and it seems to be a wait and see type thing. It also depends on the game as well.

Do we know how long the Beta last or when the actual release be? I met one gentleman that stated that since the release he has been playing non-stop since the release of the online, only because he takes Betas seriously and wants to find all the bugs and glitches so he doesn't have to face them in the release. Yeah, Right! Anyway, at one point he asked if any of us in the group knew whether or not the beta would just shift straight into the game or would there be a reset and everyone starts over. I think that is a good question considering the amount of time players have invested, but I also know that in Betas, that they are just there to let players find the breaks so they can fix before the actual release. So do we know when that is?

I do the jewelry respawn thing.... lol. Made enough to buy a bolt action.
I don't consider it an exploit. Since searching for items and finding a new game is legit game play. And so is farming farm animals.
If anything is an exploit in this game...its the bean counters at R* who work for Strauss Zelnick trying to nickle and dime the players with extremely high prices and crappy payouts.
In horse races.. Comming in 2nd or 3rd pays about $1.
Missions pay out $2-$4 sometimes..
Do what you gotta do.
It is cheating and is wrong. You cheat to make money, which in turn buys better guns and horses and whatever other gear you want. Why so you can shoot some honest player who is doing it by the book.
Don't kid yourself and think someone cheats that they are hurting Rockstar. They aren't, they are only cheating other players.

Yet another person trying to restrict everyone elses freedom because they had bad luck or should have been more careful.
Let me guess, you want to give it a passive mode? You restrict theirs or they restrict yours. PvP should be an option between at least players who both consent. It shouldn't be a player trying to do one thing while another decides to shoot them in the back, cause it is only fun for one of them.

So I really sat down and played online. 1st few missions went fine. About the 3 mission, it gives me a message that others players know what I am doing. I didn't care, I went about my business. One rider, then another, then another, finally a 4th arrived. The 1st 3 fired and died. Then the 4th who had been kind of riding farthest behind started firing after the 3 went down. Missed a lot of shots and then BOOM! I see a explosion around my body. Wagon was fine, the driver was fine, but I died from a explosion. I respawn and so far away, I could do nothing to get back to the wagon. I am ok with dying, but blowing up is BS!

Depends on the size of the animal.
Ok, different approach. I blow an animals head off. It shouldn't damage the rest of the pelt. That should be common sense. Not saying that is the mechanics behind the game, just saying a headshot shouldn't change the rest of the hide regardless of it's current state.
-
50 minutes ago, Dubya75 said:
Firstly, you can only ever get a perfect pelt if the animal has a 3-star pelt BEFORE you kill it.
Secondly, aside from making sure you get a headshot, you also need to consider the calibre of rifle you use. If you use a rifle that does too much damage, you will damage the pelt even with a straight head shot.
However, for any type of deer you can use up to a Rolling Block rifle and still get a perfect pelt. Smaller animals, you may need to use a Varmint rifle or a bow.
You also need to consider the type of ammo you use. You can't be shooting everything with split-point bullets and expect to get perfect pelts.
A headshot should give you a perfect pelt as long as it was a perfect pelt to begin with.

I never really understood people who came down like vultures on any attempt to have -more- -optional- features in a game.
If you don't like it, you don't use it. But sh*t flinging on people who aim for -more- customization is like fighting for nothing.
"I hate you because you would like to include something I would never use". XD maaan.
No optional extra content / features ever hurt anyone. It is a really smart cause to fight -against- it....
Who does it hurt, if you can -remove- something? You are one of those who like it? Then f*** leave it turned ON.
+we already had the option to get rid of it, and they solved to take it away by -erasing- absolutely legally saved old outfits.
This kid is 36 years old - working in the DevOps field. (not on games sadly..)
If you do not give feedback, then there are no changes going to be made -ever-. Cussing on other's feedback is "I despise you because you prefer a slightly more options in gameplay than I do". XD now THAT is childish.
Last but not least: if rdr2.org has nothing to do with red dead redemption officially, then, ok, I took the wrong turn XD
"Entitled" XD ... We -always- gave feedback on ANY games EVER made. Were a bug tracker for long years for different games 10 years ago.
it would be "entitled" to cry for it to make the game easier... PPl used to do that, then 3 years of game industry spitted out tons of nerfed games without any challenge XDDDDD
But campaigning or petitioning for minuscule changes that add more immersion, and absolutely optional is nothing "hideous" or bad sort.
Maybe you don't really know much about software development, but feedback and communication were always part of the process, mate.
And one of these things is, if someone takes away an option that originally were there usually creates ALOT of negative feedback from users.
If you shitting on the feedback as a user... JUST becase "why someone wants it"...
is outright hilarious.
Anyway, people can sign this stuff if they want- even if there are no developers visiting this forum- still a tad more for the headcount.
I agree to a point. Options are good, but why not change your approach to those who don't see things the way you do. Not every debate requires heated arguments, when you could take the time to hear the other side.

Great random posse
in Red Dead Online
Posted
Sometimes it is a real crap-shoot. I met some interesting people and got into some that made no sense. Played in one group where I was the only one on a mic and except for when I started missions, they went their separate ways. Met a couple of random groups where people wouldn't shut up long enough for you point out you was about to be ambushed.
I like co-op games but it can be a real crisis finding like minded players. Mostly cause different players have different thoughts on what fun is.
