Seriously every time you try to hunt or fish it is ruined every single time. Awesome game mechanics, these developers don't realize they ruin really good games with horrible programming. You can't hunt or fish while you are wanted and literally turning your horse and bumping someone over will get you bounty hunters after you. Please fix this sh*t, I could see around towns but this sh*t happens in the middle of ****ing nowhere

I feel your pain and I started over, cause my son wasn't getting that kind of treatment and it worked.  Now I have to actually commit crimes to get bounties.

over 90 % of people think RDR2 is great.. and here's a guy telling it should be as he wishes.. allways top speed with a horse no stamina whatsoever.. im actually glad its not to your liking

Where did you get your 90% think it's great?  Maybe he does think the game is great, but has one flaw.  Do you think he is really that far off base?  Been riding the same horse for most of the game.  His stamina is been rising like wildfire, yet his stamina drains like crazy and have to get him fully recharged after every mission cause he has no gas in the tank to help speed up the ride home.

Definitely think bounties are toned down the more you play. I couldn't move without bounty hunters coming after me, now I can have a bounty and wander freely. Odd.

See my son on his playthrough was experiencing that.  As where on my 1st playthrough, I did nothing and was always wanted.  He used to have to actually do something to earn a wanted level.  That is how it is on my 2nd playthrough.

  4. Well, I started over after feeling like I had missed some stuff.  Didn't want to miss anything.   WOW!  What a change.  1st time, had bounties ALL the time.  Couldn't go into towns without someone trying to shoot me or constantly getting ambushed riding from point A to point B.  2nd time through, playing much the same and poof!  Get to go anywhere I want and do what I want.  Both times I have did everything in the exact same order, with only one exception.  I did some treasure hunting.

    Hey all,

I wanted to make this post to get things off of my mind, and I wanted to do this thread so people can discuss about this. Okay, so I've noticed a lot of people are targeting Rockstar and criticizing them and pointing out their flaws. Honestly, I don't mind the talk of things Rockstar did wrong in the game, but why not talk about the things Rockstar did right? I am so tired of people pointing out flaws, and complaining more than my 3 year old sister does. This game is amazing, is it perfect? Absolutely not, but neither was Grand Theft Auto V or Grand Theft Auto IV, which both are LEGENDARY games. But, let's stick to the parameters of this discussion. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a great game, and most people can't see past the minor issues this game has and it's an absolute SHAME. I see more people criticizing rather than embracing this game. This game has so many more positives than negatives, yet people are complaining about them like it's the end of the world, and won't give Rockstar a chance to improve the game.

Yeah, this game has been in the works for a very long time, can't you see that in the craftsmanship and detail in the game along with the amazing story? The Red Dead series has improved in so many ways. The hunting is far and beyond what it use to be in the previous Red Dead title, the customization is far more better, the motion capture is amazing, the gun play and horse riding experience is absolutely phenomenal. All of these good positives in the game, and yet people complain over how long missions take, and how horses can't run in between trees? Come on guys, half of the games these days can't even meet half of the expectations Rockstar's games has from their fans. Most games now a days are released with the same exact thing with almost no improvement in their own series, filled with micro-transactions, and HELL some of them don't even contain a FREAKING campaign with NO beneficial message.

Before people start saying I'm biased and I'm only defending the game, well I hate to break it to you, I AM defending the game. Most people walk all over this game because they have complaints everywhere on the littlest things, and it's a shame how the littlest things ruin the game for them, when this game beats and demolishes almost all of the games released this generation. Not every game is perfect, and I understand videos games are subjective. Some people may not like the game because of the change in pace, that's fine. Some people may not like the game because theirs so much cut scenes, and you have to be careful about the lawmen attacking you, and you have to keep an eye on your health, and you have to hold medicine and things so you can revive yourself and help your horse, that's fine. It's a different type of style of game, this isn't a fast paced Call of Duty shooter, or a Fortnite game. This is a wild west game where things are slow, traveling takes time, and things are way different. But, when people walk on this game for the smallest little detail of error, they automatically hate this game so much to the point they start jumping on forums, bashing the game, and start attacking people with rude remarks, and hate filled comments, that's when things REALLY gets to me and shows where the gaming community has landed. Whatever happened to the appreciation of innovation? Unreal.

I've been playing video games all of my life, and I will continue to support studios and games that are actually good and worth playing, because that's the heart and soul of gaming. Most people are so into fast pace, super competitive games, so much to the point where they can't respect a different genre of games. I would always give credit where it's due, even if I don't like the game. I honestly didn't like Skyrim when it came out, but I still gave it credit for being a super amazing game that changed everything for RPGs. Just because it didn't reach MY expectations of the game, doesn't mean I'm going to sit there and bash on it like its the end of the world, and kill my fingers typing on forums talking bad about people, and shout out the minor flaws saying it's the worst thing that ever spawned on earth.

Okay, now that most of this is off my chest, I could hopefully make my views clear to people, and maybe convince someone who hated the littlest things about the game to maybe look at the bigger picture.

1st, it's a forum.  Not everyone will be fanboys.  Not everyone will be trolls.  All of them will be critiques to some point.   If you post, be opened minded enough to the fact that your opinion may be wrong in the eyes of others.

2nd, I love the game upto a point.  It does have some major flaws that have been disappointing.   Like being chased, find a clearing with a lone tree, turn and shoot the bad people and get bucked off cause my dumb horse ran straight for the tree knocking itself out.  Leaving to die getting shot up locked in some animation.  Kind of bad for a gun fight and it wasn't the direction I was heading.  Or using Dead Eye, shoot a bad guy in the head only to have him stand up and kill me as I turn to face another opponent and that's after the little kill animation.

Great game but for some, it is the little things that will make them love the game.  So just because there are those of us that do love, don't expect others to say nothing, cause we don't want to hear their opinions.  They are entitled to their opinions as much as we are to ours.

You've went beyond bounties.  You are wanted dead, with only a chance for you being alive.  If caught by bounty hunters they will gun you down on sight.

There seems to be no way to feed your horse any of the elixirs you carry in your satchel at any given time. For example... let's say you're riding from Valentine to Rhodes (one of the challenges in the game) and your horse starts to tire as his stamina is critically low. In my satchel I have a number of elixirs and food items that would help the horse recover more quickly (as this is what works for Arthur Morgan when he's low).

For some reason you cannot feed the horse these elixirs either from the saddle or when standing next to it. Consequently they are totally pointless items and just take up valuable rom in your inventory.

Can anyone explain why this is and if there is some way of using them?

Whatever you did fixed it.  I can read it now.

Yeah, I think it's a graduated fine starting at 5% and going up to 20% but I would have to research to confirm.  Either way, they don't take all of your money from my experience.

I think I died once from a posse but never noticed what they took.  I was just starting out back then so I didn't have much.

......manual saves are our friends folks.  ;)

I only got caught by bounty hunters once, where they took all my money.  Lawmen take a small portion.

Putting on the bandana, gives a small advantage of not being seen, that's what I do too? But sometimes I think the bandana glitches out on me and doesn't work properly?

I think the game glitches out on a lot of players and doesn't work properly, imho.

I'm more curious why your text is almost the same color as the background making it very difficult to read.  Almost as bad as Rockstar and their settings when you 1st load up the game.

You can buy a lock breaker for 25$ that lasts forever, so you don't have to wait for them or when you steal coaches yourself, you can always break them open.

I wrote the original post and have been playing since it was released trying many many different things and I can assure you, the bounty/wanted system is severely messed up. You will see as you get into similar situations and many others where you didnt do anything wrong or someone around a mountain witnesses you out in the middle of no where and a part of 6-10 bounty hunters instantly spawns on you shooting you off your horse and owning you.

Same with Lawmen - anyone sees blood or something in town, if you are 2 streets over, you get blamed for it some how and they after you with bounties all of a sudden.

It seems to vary from one player to another.  I only have my son and I to use for examples and we truly have had different adventures.

Maybe.  .....but beyond some of the hyperbole remarks about the bounty mechanic, there are ways to mitigate the chances of being spotted, recognized and caught.

One example is a recent encounter I had with two dudes about 50 yards off of the main road.  They were trying to open a safe with a sledge hammer that I'm assuming they stole.  I rode up to them and they promptly told me to move on.  I backed off a few yards into the tree line and waited for them to bust it open.  I came back out and they engaged me.  I shot both of them.

Before I began looting, I put on my mask.  While near the wagon with the safe I had a notification that a witness was investigating so I took cover behind the wagon. I didn't see where he was at first but then I saw him slowly ride by on the road looking in my direction.  I waited until he was gone, the message disappeared and I ran off with their stuff.

I have also engaged gangs who have ambushed me on the roads, taken out their camps, etc.  and I never get a bounty in those cases.  However, I have had the law called on me if I engage gangs or aggressive strangers in town with weapons.  ...whether it was my fault or not.  The exception is fist fights as long as I don't take it too far.  I even pursposely led two hoodlums out to the street in Valentine, knocked out one and then let the other pursue me into the Sheriff's office (just to see what would happen)  I proceeded to fight him as well and knock him out.  The Sheriff made a remark during the fight like "that's enough" (or something to that effect) but did nothing to me.  ....I walked out.  If I had looted him or hit him once more I am sure there would be a bounty and the sheriff would have tried to take me into custody.

When fist fighting, the screen will flash momentarily when you knock them out. IME, if you continue to throw blows beyond that point, you will be flagged.

I really don't think it has anything to do with chance.  Their are triggers in the programming and (for me at least) it was just a matter of figuring them out.  ....although I will say that I think that the witness detection seems to stretch further than it should at times.

I have been in fist fights where I knock people down and got a bounty.  Didn't kill them just knocked them down.  So there must be other triggers in the programs.  Once case the NPC drew a gun and I was unarmed but close enough to take a swing.  So I did.  Got me a bounty.   Like I said my son has been playing and though we do similar things there are many cases where he gets different responses then I.

Anyone get the random ecounter at the Rhodes gunsmith yet?

      Hide contents

Go to the side of the building to the right of the door. There will be someone that calls out to you from the basement that gives the you the option to rob the gunsmith and have him open the basement. Which leads to a really weird random encounter. Bonus there is also a weapons case with the most expensive repeater down there. My game is obviously broken at this point because I can't access any of the treasure quests and any special weapons I get during robberies I don't get to keep. Very dissapojnting. No colt and no repeater for me.

Apparently, I missed something.  When I spoke them it never let me help the person and long story short.  I got a large bounty in Rhodes.

    **Billy Midnight Drops 2 Guns!!

So I’ve hunted 2 and didn’t think about it with the first one I killed on his farm (unfortunately because the “math” would work out) So you have a Cattleman’s Revolver already and there are 4 gunslingers you hunt and 3 drop weapons. But I got 2 from BM when I face him because I decided to go for his gun since it’s already in slow mo. So he drops his normal pistol but also another Cattlemans pistol, which they won’t allow you to buy another from the store (and yes you can pick up BOTH his guns and your already equipped guns will be replaced and put back on your horse so you lose No guns. It’s safe lol)  but when you go to a gun smith to customize your guns my Identical Cattleman’s Revolvers are separately distinguished using playing card symbols. My original gun since the beginning of the game has a Club and my newest Cattleman’s Revolver I acquired from BM has a Diamond so I feel it’s safe to say they there’s still a Heart and Spade Cattleman’s Revolver stiIl floating about somewhere if not on the other 2 Famous Gunslingers that drop weapons when you duel. I won’t give any spoilers but trust me, when you face the famous gunslingers...go for their Drawing hand and not the kill shot. It changes how they die

Sorry this was so long but hope it helps

*Spoiler: I never shot and killed BM but got his weapons and he died..hmmm. Who or what killed him in front of me. It was crazy I kinda expected it and kinda didn’t but I recorded on my Xbox what happened

    Spoiler

I would keep looking.  As Obi-Wan says, "These aren't the gun slingers you are looking for."  or something like that.  Each gun slinger has they are named after the gun slinger.
