  1. To me a camper is someone "camps" a known spawn point where they know they can get cheap kills.   To me them and griefers need to be dealt with in all online games.  I for one don't play games for the sake of having others come in disrupt my game for their amusement.    Been having lots of debates with people about the whole PvEvP open world environments.    Seeing how games online seem to be leading this way kind of ruins the game.  I hated GTA5, where during my missions, other players could fly over in their jets just start dive bombing you until you fail.  The Division has a PvEvP arena where players that are built for PvP are stalking and killing PvE players that have zero chance to fight back.

I understand that these games sell well, but the putting players in a situation where they are defenseless against griefers and then turn around and say it is just part of the game.  Makes me not wanting to buy the games.

  2. Trying to stay patient, I was shocked yesterday to get home and see that RDR2 was in my que doing the whole prep for the pre-order.  Turned out my wife and son decided that they would surprise me for my birthday in Oct.  Figuring they couldn't surprise me, they figured they would try to sneak it in when I wasn't looking.  So now I got till Oct to pretend I didn't see it and act surprised when they decide to reveal.

I guess for me, the worst case would be online is too easy. Like they have to dumb it down or something for more casual fans. It should be an even playing ground and if you suck, play more and getter better at it.

Some players could play forever and never get better.  They need to build for their target audience and if they have more then one target audience then they need to provide for that.

I have had other games get ruined for me due to bad servers or server issues so I understand that.  My concern is the fanbase of GTA V moving onto RDR2 Online. As long as I am able to be on a server with just friends, I will be golden but if I am forced to be in a server with some 12-year-old snot nosed kid crying about his horse or running around humping trees, I am out.

So you did play RDR.  I played against the same kids.

Worst Case ..... They make it like GT5 Online, where the have all the silly OP gear, just so you can ruin others fun.

Best Case ..... They make it like the Original.   Where you can choose between PvP or PvE, so you can play the way you want.

  5. I told a friend about this thread and what I had said.   He stated in any Rockstar game, he is always the bad guy, so that is how he plays them.  With Arthur he figures will be the same mis-understood bad guy, will be like all of the others cause that is the Rockstar way.  He did add that he played Trevor different, he said that Trevor was bi-polar so he tried to live upto that.  hahaha

    White Hat or Black Hat?

Arthur is going to be a bad guy. But your play style is your own and so you'll be making a lot of his choices for him. How will you play? I typically am a White Hat  player. Mostly noble, honorable, avoid hitting pedestrians, don't shoot people or animals just for the sake of doing so. However, in GTAV, I played Trevor as a psychopath . Arthur will be kind of a bad dude, but maybe on the path of righteousness and so I'll play him as such.

    How will you play?

Forgive me if I over think this, I have a tendency to think deeper the question sometimes.  In life being a good or a bad person really depends on one's perspective, for example Robin Hood, according to the tales he was a good guy.  Robbed from the rich and gave to the poor.   Now one version I have read.  Truthfully, him and his merry men were bad guys.  They broke the law, they stole from the rich and they had no qualms of killing to get what they wanted.  Now some would say they did that to protect the people and that they gave all their loot to the people.  Some believe that they actually shared their bounty for 2 reasons.  1st, to buy peoples' silence.  You give a starving person food and eventually the will follow you like a puppy begging for scraps.  2nd, they had to be constantly on the move.  Too much bounty  is hard to move, so they only kept what they could carry.

Now GTA 5, Michael and Franklin, I treated as they two people that just made bad choices.  I never took a life when playing them that I didn't have to.  Now Trevor, I really didn't like playing and yes I treated him like he was psycho all the time.

Normally being a white hat kind of guy if I can be I imagine I will play him the same way I did Michael and Franklin, but Rockstar has a tendency to put characters in bad situations.

I would hate to have to play the entire game as Arthur for him to just be killed off. They have done this too many times already. Aren't there any other ways around this where Arthur maybe moves up North or something?

There was cases that some outlaws of the old west became lawmen.  Maybe Arthur will get approached to be lawman some where, seeing how the map is bigger.  That's not the way Rockstar does these games, but it would be a change of pace.

  8. Could end with Arthur starting with what Marston finished.   Have Arthur lead Ross and Fordham to the hill above Beechers Hope, showing them where Marston is, only to have Ross and Fordham shoot him down in cold blood.  At that point you take over as Marston with the Ross and Fordham riding up to you on your property.

Could easily just go on the run like John did. Then again... Dutch likely would have hunted him down too. He doesn't seem the type either. I think John kills him for some reason and then you end up going on the lamb as John.

Dutch didn't hunt Marston down, it was the other way around.  Considering where Dutch's camp was and where Marston made his home.  Dutch could have gotten him pretty easy.

It isn't like cars that take damage and what not. If the thing flips, the horse are on their sides too. And since no gas is involved, they can't just blow the thing up. So yeah it is very doubtful.

But like cars, horses could get maimed from an accident and unable to work anymore.  Drawing in predators for the kill.

Also because RDR i feel goes for an older audience they could add some stuff into the actual story, i just think being in a mine with a torch and something runs past your sight through the tunnels would be awesome

Though I agree RDR seemed to be aimed for an older crowd.  Playing online brought some really young players and their potty mouths.  Some of them kids should have had their mouths washed out with soap.  Now a days it is far worse then it was then.

I got to say, they did zombies the right way compared to some games.  To me it felt fun compared to most games.  I enjoyed the sidequests with the sasquatch and my favorite and the one I didn't expect was gathering the flowers for the old man, only to go into the cabin and see the corpse.  I had to replay the game to show that to my wife and son.

I do the same thing with my nephews.  It's literally the first subject out of their mouths when I visit for family functions.  ....."did you try XXXX game yet?"

With my nephew, it was always Madden.  With his kids, it's WWE.   In fact last Christmas, soon as we arrived the two of them talked my son into playing the wrestling game.  They kept ganging up on him.  Finally, my son handing his controller to me and said "Dad, just show him how it's done."  They got a culture shock when I whooped both of them.  Since then I became the Cool Uncle that plays video games.  Then my nephew told them all the games they got for Christmas was approved by me, cause my nephew always looked for my seal of approval when it came to getting games.

My father-in-law is totally a gamer. He's 70. Plays PS4 and PC. Uncharted series, Tomb Raider, racing games- That's his thing.  It's one of the only things we have in common and so we always end up talking about it at family functions while everyone else rolls their eyes and laughs at us. I remember once when my wife and I were still dating, he called her just to have her pass the phone to me. Needed help with Red Dead! I thought that was so cool.

That is cool that you and your father in law have that bond.
