I had problems busting someone in poker in Saint Denis. I saved this one for the story mission where you’re guaranteed a bust-out, but that doesn’t work (I read somewhere that it did, but not for me). So, I had to spend two and a half hours sat in the saloon in town before I finally busted someone. I’m sure not looking forward to the “win three hands in a row” challenge.

busting someone out i thought was pretty simple.  play with a full table, or almost full, took me like 3 or 4 hands.  Win 3 in a row wasn't bad either,  do the opposite, play against 1 or 2 and go all in.  i did that one in Valentine, seemed like it was easier to win there.

I Vape, but it's only a crutch to help me quit smoking. I know who you were talking about, I'm assuming it's not people who vape in general, but those who vape and feel the need to get the biggest cloud possible? Like I said, I use it as a crutch, it's not a competition to see who can have the biggest cloud. I heard that they actually have competitions for the biggest cloud, with people who build their own coils and stuff... In that aspect it certainly is ridiculous! I no longer cough and wheeze, I feel a million percent better and it's a lot cheaper.

my son vapes to help quit smoking, or so he says anyway.  I quit smoking 15 years ago or so, tried vaping once with the 0% nicotine oil and coughed my head off.

I know who you're referring to also @RON, one of the people working in the local vape shop here is like that.  I've gone in there with my son and the place is so clouded at times i have to leave to breath.  i get that it's a vape shop but that just drives away customers.

HI, Folks, I am playing through a second time. I am staying just before the Thomas Downes encounter, so still in Chapter 2. And I am trying to do all sorts of challenges as Arthur.

One of the things I am doing is collecting orchids. I have the official guidebook and initially had no trouble collecting orchids. They were where the maps said. But at some point they seem to have disappeared. I mean, for places I have NOT yet visited that should contain orchids, there are no orchids there.

I wondered if this was a printing error. But maybe it's a limit on what I can do given my still being in Chapter 2. I mean, I can still find other, regular plants and thing like crocodile eggs. It's the orchids that have dried up, even where they should be. It's got to the point where I can't believe it's a series of printing errors as there are just too many missing orchids.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

This is what i used for the orchids in the exotics side quests.  http://www.powerpyx.com/red-dead-redemption-2-all-exotics-locations/    I know i had found some of those orchids before while roaming the country side,  I only had to collect 3 or 7 or whatever instead of the required 5 or 10.

I do not know what the lover limit in Celsius would be for a possible heatstroke but I am fairly certain that it can happen with way “cooler” temperatures than I experienced if one does not drink enough water with the correct minerals and dependent of the air humidity.

Heat exhaustion happens at 99 F to 103 F, heat stroke is 104 F and above body temps.  So that would be about 37 C to 39 C for heat exhaustion and 40 and above C body temp for heat stroke.  Basically if you get heat stroke you're in serious danger.

You're correct, outside ambient air temp doesn't have to be triple digits to get heat stroke or heat exhaustion.  Just like you posted hiking in warm weather without properly hydrating will cause it.  i've gotten heat exhaustion just from mowing the lawn on a hot day and not properly hydrating myself.  Luckily i've never had heat stroke, yet anyway.

    since we're discussing it

    Signs for heat exhaustion -

Dizziness, headaches, muscle cramps, nausea, confusion and fatigue are the most common.  If you have to pee and the urine is dark yellow that's a sign of dehydration. this together with these other symptoms is a sign of trouble.

if it gets worse and you go into heat stroke you'll have similar symptoms as heat exhaustion, but worse.  Also your pulse will increase, breathing will increase, you may start puking, and your skin will become hot and red, and will be either dry or damp.  Heat stroke needs immediate attention, hydration and external cooling of the body are a must until medical professionals can assist.  Body temps at 106 F (41 C ) will cause the body to start shutting down organs to protect itself, 107 F (41.5 C ) can cause organ failure and brain damage.

The prompt doesn't always appear. I had to walk around the wagon a few times and kind of just wiggle around a bit to find the sweet spot. I found facing the horses by the side of the wagon to work best. I am not sure why they made this so difficult lol

probably something with the terrain, like when you can't feed or brush your horse unless you lead it a step or 2 away farther down the road.

People don't typically start suffering from heat stroke until it gets into triple digits.

you obviously don't know much about heat stroke.  you can get heat stroke with temps in the upper 70s, just takes more exertion to get your body temp up to 104 F/40 C or higher.

  7. i haven't done it yet, but this is from IGN,  maybe it will help -

    Spoiler

    Gold Medal Checklist

    • Headshot each of the mounted guards protecting the wagon.
    • Get 10 kills in Dead Eye
    • Complete within 6 minutes
    • Complete the mission without taking any health items

Is this the one you can't die on as that counts as a health item?

    WoW, thats great man!!

See, to be honest, I really didnt understand how to play an open world game, I thought I did but really I was fooling myself.

I didnt realize how much or how in general the game developers were utilizing the technology, with easter eggs, hidden messages, and items, missions, etc.. I had no idea that they were putting in so much time and detail.

After my first playthrough I was overwhelemed but knew I missed way too much, my second playthrough was just me trying to see everything I missed, but not in order or in an organic kind of way, so....

This time for me was because I learned what they are going for with this type of game.

I get it now, and I cant wait for the next Pre Quil I hope, but whatever happens, open world games will never be the same, now they will be forced to live up to RDR2 nad this level of detail, although I fear that few will ever do as well, most companies have budgets and time tables and such, but time will tell.

open world games are my favorite, i often clock in 100+ hours before i'm half way through the story line.  That's one reason i love RDR2, Just Cause, Far Cry, etc. etc.

I have no idea how much time i spent in RDR2, but i'm still not done with the 2nd epilogue and until about 2 weeks ago or so I played it nightly since release for 2-4 hours, and countless hours on the weekends.  My empty nesting has been playing xbox  😁.  I'll get to the chore list this spring when there's not 5 ft of snow in the yard.

Mounting the wagon is the same as mounting a horse. For PS4 use the triangle button while standing near the front if the wagon. For XBox I believe it's the Y button.

yeah that's a given,  problem is sometimes you don't get the prompt to hit Y or Triangle to drive the wagon.  Hence the walk around the wagon trick.

I am like some of the others where I chose to just ride my horse most of the time. I can't be arsed with the train and I don't mind riding around since I enjoy hunting so even if I have to travel a ways out, I can get some nice pelts and such along the way.

when i get sick of riding around i ride a stage coach, you can get to any town with a coach and a short ride from there to anywhere on the map.

I cant find John Marsten to do the mission "sheep and goats" I have already done the oil tanker and train robbery missions ...sheep and goats mission is no where to be found... I havent gotten any notification or gang member telling me to meet john in valentine for mission...how do u trigger this mission?? gang members are NOT missing ...just cant find John or get mission to trigger... Also every other mission is complete Other than the one where Arthur catches TB .. u arent forced to have to do that mission until chapter 4. Any info would be great...thanks....off to hunt down legendary animals and fish until then

that's a time dependent mission, you need to be at the right time of day (or night) to see the mission marker.

im not locked into doing it, the more I think about it the more it's not important, I wanted the rob the bank mission and hideout and just have the additional things that comes with it.

Some of the special edition items are not available, the treasure hunt and cash bonus were only available on digital purchases made before August 15, 2018.  So if that's what you're after, you're too late.

what do the complete set of horsemanship equipment gives you, in terms of health benefits, will their be a significant bump in your health ? how about if u complete all 3 health related challenges (horseman/sharpshooter/weapons expert)

    From IGN -

    • Reinforced Bandoliers increase ammo capacity for repeaters, rifles, and shotguns
    • Reinforced Gun Belts increase ammo capacity for revolvers and pistols
    • Reinforced Holsters reduce the amount of maintenance weapons require
    • Reinforced Off-Hand Holsters reduce the amount of maintenance secondary weapons require.

    From VG24/7

    • Health: Horseman, Sharpshooter and Weapons Expert
    • Stamina: Bandit, Gambler and Master Hunter
    • Dead-Eye: Explorer, Herbalist and Survivalist

I can't find anything that gives the value of what's added for completing one of the stamina sets, or the extra bonus for all 3, but if i recall correctly completing all 3 sets filled in one of the bars in the meter.

Havent played it.let me know what you think of it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Intense,  i put it on normal and died 3 or 4 times in the opening lol  then i got to the first checkpoint and died half a dozen or so times.  Still working on getting to the 3rd checkpoint.

First thing that impressed me is the disclaimer/warning as the game loads,  you don't get that much.  "Do not try any of these survival tips at home" or something like that lol

What i had to get used to, and still struggle with to be honest, is the graphics, i knew it wouldn't be like RDR2, but even for a cartoonish game they're cheesey.  Borderlands was cartoonish but cool cartoonish.  The story line is beyond cheesey so far.

I'm loving it though.  freezing to death is quite real lol  you don't spend 20 minutes in game time to lose 10% of your life, you spend about 10 minutes to go from healthy to dead in subzero temps with high winds,  like you would in real life lol

    Not true per say.

    Incoming spoliers btw.

      Reveal hidden contents

During the mission "A Quite Time". After the dancing scene is over after finding LENNAY! It cuts to Arthur taking a leak out the back of the saloon.

yeah but that's only seen in a specific instance in that cut scene, not every few minutes

I never did understand why they would have horses crapping and horse balls without them urinating. I mean at the very least, you think the horse would take a leak now and then.

Too graphic, some 12 yr old's mom would try and sue Rockstar.

I was wondering about this myself. It has been some time since I played single player and I hopped on the other day (I think it was Tuesday) to find that the guns and aim seemed off. I was going to contact Rockstar about it but I figured they changed something for the online end and it happened to affect offline maybe, who knows.

I'll have to check it out this weekend when i play again.  i haven't been in chapter 3 for months though, and I didn't notice it last weekend when i was playing the epilogue 2 missions.

A little stumble or a clean short beard game is tight but the full-blown bird nest... I will never understand the appeal for the men who sport that or the women who like it.

I mostly use race horses online. They may be able to be taken down easier but it helps to have the upper hand with outrunning gangs of trolls. I do like my fox trotter but I think the girl is a bit slow in the head.

run her into a tree a few times,  doesn't help but it makes me feel better when they're being stupid.
