I was hoping for a full blown stroke like you see in cartoons or movies where the person starts seeing things. Would be cool to get attacked by people and animals that aren't really there.

that would make it more interesting.  you could kill Micah over and over :) I'd suffer heat stroke with Arthur every day for that lol

I was wondering about this. Maybe something like this is in the game and I never noticed but based on their angle of going for more realistic weather and such settings, I would have thought that heat stroke would have been a thing. Like if you spend time out in the desert at the hottest point of the day and don't drink, you get delirious.

kinda sorta is in there, just like running around up north in the snow with warm weather clothes, they both drop your core at an accelerated rate but that's all that i've noticed happens, eat oregano seasoned meat and get the gold health core and you don't have to worry about it.

Cold I suppose its easier to warm up.

Some of the temperatures you guys have been saying it is where you is scary.

It was minus 4 here in the uk last week and to us that' was cold.

Where I work indoors it was minus 7 and to be honest we all done nothing but complain we were freezing. So I take my hat off to you guys in this difficult weather situation your in.

it's the snow that's made it somewat difficult here.  I like snow, it's fun to play in, but when you get 3 ft + in that many weeks, you get sick of it lol  and then to top it off there was an avalanche in the river here late last night, so now we got flooding on top of it.

But, i love the mountains, i wouldn't live anywhere else :)  And thinking back on it when i was a kid this would have been a normal winter, not an extreme winter as they say now.

Right at the end of chapter 2, and on into chapter 3, it seems I can no longer sight multiple targets with pistols or rifles.  I can't set more than one shot under dead eye.  Am I doing something, my game, or is this just the way it progresses?

I am so happy to be on to chapter 3, thanks to help from this great forum.  Chapter 3 has such a bang, bang start I couldn't stop to catch my breath.  This is by far the coolest game I have ever played.

Let me know about this dead eye issue if you can.

    Peace.

    Jesse

should be able to, you dead gets better as you progress not worse.  make sure you're not using a single shot weapon.

I feel the same as the OP. It's the game of the decade IMO. On 2nd runthru and still it's awesome...just wish there were DLC missions for single player...online I stay away from...if you could play it and block others it would be better...but can't take the juvenile crap...it ruins it 4 me.

I don't see how you can do a 2nd play through.  I'm struggling now to finish the epilogue story line.  And then i just got The Long Dark in the mail today so my evening for the next few nights won't be RDR2.

Just cause i saw questions about it...this talisman can only be worn if yo dont have a tie  or other neckwear as its a necklace.

you're wrong i fixed it for you :P

You always have a bandanna and you can still wear the talisman.  For ties or other neckwear  you're right.

Ultimately, maybe it's just me, I don't know. But I've calmed my Arabian down from agitated, only to ride 30 feet without so much as a scent of a predatory animal in the area and have it start panicking again.

But it's all subjective in the end and each one of us has a specific horse(s) we prefer for our own reasons. Personally, I'm partial to Rachel (I've heard speculation that she was named for Marston's deceased daughter, but IDK) and the Missouri Fox Trotter (or whatever it's called exactly) that I lovingly named Arthur. 😄

White arabian i had named Nephilim but then changed it to El Stupido, she liked to run into trees and boulders.  Then i got the black Arabian, and it also liked to send me flying over obsticales, so it became El Stupido Dos,  for the Missouri Fox Trotter i was hard up for a name, she was Foxy lol.  weirdly enough every horse i've bought, stolen, tamed, etc except for Buell was female.

In that case, I'll take Buell.

At least Buell has a job.  In that analogy, Arabian / Fox Trotter spends 6-8 hours a day at the gym and only consumes protein shakes and celery.  Then he works a 4-hour shift at Ambercrombie before going to bed at 10pm so he can be up at 5 the next day to be the first one in the gym before all the machines get dirty.

    🤣

For me, it was how the player comes into possession of Buell that made him special. Hammer is also right in that he's pretty rock steady and not easily spooked. The Arabians, on the other hand, lose it if you merely look at them from a certain angle.

I never saw a difference in the 'stability' of the Arabians, black or white, being any worse than Buell, or any better.  I used Buell off an on long enough to get him to level 4 bonding and he'd buck me off if a pack of 3 or 4 wolves were chomping at his feet just like either of my Arabians would.  he'd shy away from snakes and gaters just like the Arabains.  The arabians would sit though an 8 man bounty hunter shoot out just like Buell did, they'd all prance and show distress but that was about it, unless the bounty hunter group was larger with 3 dogs, then any of the 3 would buck me off if I didn't shoot the dogs first.

Considering I can add a jacket much easier than I can remove layers of skin, I'll take cold over hot anyway. Which is kind of ironic as I prefer arid and desert environments for their general aesthetics.

that's why i live in the high mountain desert, well just above that in the mountains now lol but before i moved here i spent almost 20 years in the high mountain desert biome.

    GolfClash2

i got so tired of all the cheating in golf clash i never bothered with the 2nd version.  I mostly play the brainless games to waste time waiting for this and that, Ball Blast has been one I've played a lot.  up to level 63 now.

I've always liked hte hidden object puzzles too.  used to have books and books of them when i was a kid.  found one that was kinda fun on the cell - June's Journey i think it is, or June's Adventure maybe.

Used to play headball 2 a lot also, but their servers got so shitty you couldn't play a game (2 minutes i think they were) without it being interrupted 3 or 4 times while you or your opponent reconnected.  And it was a pay to win game, and i'm sick of playing those, seems like all pvp type cell game is now that way.

I have a question in regards to this horse: is it as easily spooked and agitated as the black one that can be bought in Saint Denis? I bought the black one on an impulse and it ended up being one of the worst mistakes I made in this game because despite its stats, the thing loses it at the drop of a pin. And don't try riding it anywhere near the swamp, as I've had it randomly buck me for seemingly no reason at all in that area.

you must not have it up to level 4 bonding.  i used both black and white, black after it was unlocked in chapter 4 and white from chapter 2 till then.  After fully bonded i could have 3 or 4 wolves attack and sit on the horse and shoot them dead.  snakes and gators it would rear up on or side step at times but it wouldn't throw me off unless i tried to run into a gator.  you can do that but you have to be in a full sprint to not get thrown, i've trampled a few gators that way on both arabians and the fox trotter.

This was one of a few stranger quests (along with The Veteran and Oh, Brother) that I decided to leave for the Epilogue as some added activities to do with John, but now that I've reached the point in the Epilogue where you can freeroam without any impunity, the quest doesn't spawn. Is this a bug? Can this quest only be done as Arthur? It would be a real annoyance if the latter were the case, as I've already completed many of the collection and I would not like to have to do them all over because no indication of any kind was given that this quest was exclusive to Arthur.

could be, some stranger missions only spawn in certain chapters, or it could be a timed one where you have to do it in the day or night.

    Thanks for the advice.

I crossed all the way west and got the deer trinket last night. I tested it and got a few 2 stars that turned into 3 stars and that made me happy. Since I went all the way to St. Denis to see the fence and I had to ride my horse back to camp I decided to see if I could get an alligator pelt or two. I killed literally 25 gators and never got a perfect pelt. Even when they were 3 star to start with. I shot them in the head and shot them in the heart but it kept knocking it to 1 star or whatever. I looked that up and it says the sniper rifle is the best to use for alligators. So either my gun was not powerful enough (the Winchester you get from the basement of the general store in Rhodes) to kill gators with one shot to the heart, and I guess if you shoot them in the head and kill with one shot that it destroys the pelt. Oh well. I'll try and find a sniper rifle somewhere that I don't have to pay for it. I barely have any money.

Anyway, thanks for your help guys. I appreciate it.

headshot, right in the eyeball, is the best way to get a perfect pelt.  and any rifle (not repeater or varmint rifle) will work on an alligator, i usually use the springfield, sometimes the bolt action,  i've never bothered with the sniper rifle.

Study the animal then hit RB/R1 to see the info on it, it will tell you which weapon to use for perfect pelts.

Thanks Cory, I will give that a try.  Indeed, riding in does not work.  I found that out the hard way this morning.

sure it does.  I rode right in to Javier, didn't take the sneaky way, didn't get ambushed by bounty hunters either.  put your mark on him and follow the red path.

    2. Is there any actual point in killing an animal and stowing it on your horse to take back to camp, rather than just skinning it there and then and handing the meat to Pearson?

you have to do that once for 100%, and there a few camp upgrades that require the carcass, not just the hide.

    3. What was the point in including the whole of the old RDR1 map in the game when we can't even access it until the epilogue, and even then there is absolutely nothing to do there. I was pleased when I heard the old map would feature in the game and was excited about what old places and characters we would encounter from RDR1. How disappointed was I when I realised absolutely none. Again, completely pointless, might aswell have saved some GB and not included it.

So many people forget this is a prequel to RDR.  I agree they could have done a lot more with that area, but i did like some of the background that was revealed about John prior to RDR.

    4. Similar to 3 - you take us off to guarma but won't even let us explore the island? Thought this was supposed to be an open world game!

Agreed, total waste of time chapter 5 was.

    5. Lack of customisation of clothing. So many shirts, all look the same as the last. And why can't we choose whether we have an open collar?

It's the wild west, there really wasn't that much for options back then, not like now when there's a designer on every street corner and every celeb almost has their own line.  Back then you had a couple main brands, most of them used the same pattern for shirts, but then varied with the piping and other decoration.

You had pretty much one brand of jeans, or locally made cotton or canvas trousers (cotton in cold months, canvas in the warm).  Levi's were the main brand and started mass producing jeans around 1870.  Years later Wrangler and Lee came into the picture.  Actually Wrangler didn't start until just before WW2, they were first called Hudson Overalls, which started in the early 1900s, then changed to Blue Bell in the 1920s, then Blue Bell bought out Casey Jones and started using their brand Wrangler.  So if you go by that, you had Levi's from 1870s until Hudson Overalls just after the turn of the century.  Lee jeans started around 1890 but didn't start making jeans until the 1920's, they made work overalls mostly sold to miners and factory workers until they got into the jeans business.

  16. contacting RS won't help, they'll just tell you to load a save point or restart the game, at least that's the answer i got for the Lake Owanjila fish.

Is it marked off in your legendary fish list if you tap the left arrow on the D-pad.  I found the fish are sometimes not X'd on the map but they show in the list as checked off for caught and sent through mail.

I play games for the graphics and the better they get the better I like them, from Zaxxon, to Goldeneye to Half life, to Crysis, to Veitcong, to cod ww2, to RDR2 has been a heck of a ride.

I love this game so much, I played through the story mode quickly, then replayed it to go slower and find all the things I could, then at 94% complete and story 100% I decided maybe it would be cool to get and play rdr again, its been 10 years, I really never played the story, I tried the game and it was cool, but I never really got into it too much.

I thought it would be cool to keep going with the story and play it now as a sequel, well let me tell you, Rockstar did such an amazing job with rdr2 that it is really hard to go back.

Im trying, Ive done a few missions, and I am free roaming, it is neat to find stuff I found in rdr2 while free roaming now, etc.. but all in all I can not get into it, it just lacks so much of what made rdr2 awesome that although I want too I just keep thinking about how great EVERYTHING in rdr2 is compared to rdr.

even picking plants, it is so detailed and specific now, in comparison I am having a tough time enjoying the rdr stuff, I just keep thinking of how much it lacks compared to its prequil sequal release.

I wish I had stuck it out 9 years ago when I had the game on my 360, I think I am going to go for a third play through over playing rdr1.

Honestly I would pay a premium for rdr1 to be redun with the new engine, so it looks and plays like rdr2, I would 110% buy it all over again and play it all over again, there is so much to these games, I just feel like the first game would benefit greatly, more people would play it and the sequel would make a lot more sense.

Anyway just my day dreaming fantasy for today, I cant say enough about this game, it literally took over my winter, I havent played another game in months or left my house unless it was necessary, I opted to stay in from the cold New England weather and play RDR2 until I dropped.

If they added a feature to hang people, to use your lasso for many other things like tree climbing and stuff, I think rdr2 would be perfect.

It is a game changer, I cant imagine playing an open world game any less beautiful than this, I bought far cry 5 and havent even looked at since the day rdr2 was released, I started fc5 but after a day of exploring, I got rdr2 and now it just sits there, my fav game cod ww2 hasnt been touched in 3 months, and that was my daily go to.

Thank you for the awesome game!!

Kinda pointless, this is like comparing a Lamborghini Countach with a Huracan,  Countach was an exceptional car in it's time, just like RDR was an exceptional game in it's time.  Of course RDR2 is better.

Don't be surprised if RS remasters RDR along with GTA San Andreas, Liberty City or Vice City sometime in the not too distant future.   These games are classics.

I don't see them remastering any of these.  Their focus is now on RDR Online.  Would be cool if they redid GTA:SA, that was my favorite GTA game out of them all.

I ran into Gavin's Friend searching for him near the Elysian Pool and thought that he shouldn't be rising such a ruckus in Murfee Brood territory. Because I was unable to say anything more after the initial greeting, I went down into the cave I was searching for. When I came out I heard some shouting and my honor went down, so I rushed in the direction of the shouting to see what was up. I saw two Murfee Brood gang members ride off and then found a dead horse with an immolated body nearby. Should I have hung out near Gavin's Friend to protect him from those deviants?

No he comes back.  I've killed him numerous times in numerous ways, even went so far as to bounce his corpse down the road in Roanoke with dynamite sticks and then dynamite arrows.  Shortly after i heard him calling for Gavin in St. Denis.
