I wish I had the skill to do this. I can screw up putting a nail in a 2x4. lol

I actually agree with this though. If you can build a desk or even just a table and add in drawers and what not, it beats buying store bought junk. I paid for a desk a few years back, it was like $300 and the POS basically fell apart in less than a year. They don't make furniture like they once did and if it is good quality, you are looking at a HIGH markup.

with prices for everything climbing it's getting cheaper to build your own.  20 years ago i spent maybe $50 building my son's crib, then probably that much for his toddler bed a couple years later.  My father and I built both in his shop, the crib the ex wanted was almost $300 back then, and his toddler bed close to $200.  since then i've made a couple night stands, my headboard i built this past summer, my son's tv stand we built together, and used to have a tv stand in the living room i built, but tore it apart to build the stand with my son.   I compare prices to buy stuff with what it would cost me to make it and go from there.

I thought I would give this a bump with a bit of a serious question...

Mainstream News Media or Independent Reporters?

I am asking because I see a lot of people really tearing into companies lately. Yahoo, Vox, Buzzfeed, and several others fired a lot of their writers.

they both suck, but to pick one i'd go with independent, at least some of them try and give good news to make their living.  Mainstream puts out whatever sh*t they think will get hte most ratings, even if it's totally false.

    My dilemma this morning -

Poached or Sunny side up eggs (on fresh homemade toast)?

I voted for the Rams... Just now. lol

Everyone basically knew the Pats were going to win. It was a horribly underwhelming game too. Not worth the watch for me. I would have rather stayed home lol

Paramount Network had a COPS marathon on,  that was more entertaining than the few minutes i watched of the Super Bowl.  then i turned on Shadow of the Tomb Raider and watched Lara Croft's arse for a few hours,  that was much better than the Super Bowl.

  4. I think we've had enough star wars  but i guess that is more entertaining than more zombie crap.  maybe.  one of the last games i did on PC was Star Wars, it got really old really fast.  So let them do a really bad job, maybe that will be the last of it.

Good points, but the boring part of playing Arthur when he gets the TB is that he becomes so gimped. They could have kept his TB as a story element but do we as players need to suffer the all too many penalties to the cores and we cannot even eat or drink to help balancing that issue?

Yes, why else even have TB in the story?  To not have the penalties would be like playing a demo derby game and not have your car effected by the damage, just look damaged.  Pointless.

The TB should have been a story event and Arthur could have looked like hell but all the penalties to the overall gameplay just makes me want to skip through those last chapter/missions as fast as possible as the joy of exploring is dead by then.

No it's not, you can still hunt, explore, etc. just as effectively as before.

The TB cut scenes aren't triggered out in the wild hunting.  sure he coughs now and then,  his rings deplete faster, but if you've been hunting previously (and have the legendary satchel) the rings/core are easily restored with food.  Eat a thyme, oregano, or mint seasoned meat, you get a gold core that doesn't deplete for 24 hours i think it is, then you just eat another.

Someone also mentioned that the game world dies after the epilogue when we are rewarded with a lot of money to be used for the purpose to explore and play in the sandbox made by R*. But why should we? There are almost no enemy gang activity, no women needing saving because their horse fell and died, more or less no random events at all and it really makes the game world feel more like a desert than a sandbox.

Sounds like you've never played an open world game after completing the game,  the story is over, why would you have side content to what's been finished?  makes no sense.  the emptiness makes it easier to complete the items needed (if you have any) for 100%, or to find the last few animals to complete all the trapper crafting items, etc.  The game actually ended at chapter 6,  Epilogue is nothing more than to lead into RDR.

  6. You can get the white Arabian again in the epilogue :D  i have my favorite horse back, and almost level 4 bonded, and 4 failed timed attempts from Van Horn 🤬

got ambushed by the damn cougar again, then another try i got stopped just before Owanjila Lake, stupid Laramies ambushed me.  other 2 times i must have hit a puddle or something as i made it under the time limit according to my stopwatch but no credit.

I really hate horseman 9 challenge.

While waiting for each game to load, put us I a small lobby where there is a limited amount of herbs animals. And a few campfires for crafting. The campfires are safezones, and the rest is free for all.  I think this would be an awesome addition!! Thoughts?

think you should go to Rockstar's website and add this as a suggestion, this isn't an official forum and most use the waiting lobby to grab a bite to eat, get a drink etc.

    Hi all,

So I found the first map for the Jack Hall Gang treasure early during my playthrough. I went to Caliban Seat and found map 2. However, shortly hereafter I must have replayed a saved game where I didn't go to Caliban Seat for map 2. When I go to the site now for map 2, there is no prompt to search the cliff ridge for the map. I've even gone to Cotorra Springs and nothing spawns there neither. In my satchel I can only find map 1.

I contacted Rockstar and their response was to restart the game 😭☠️ The only challenge I'm missing is the Explorer challenge. So I guess 100% completion is off the table now.

Has anyone experienced the same issue?

nope. had no issues doing this same thing.  clear your cache, restart the machine.  if that fails try a different save point.

Anyone watch the super bowl here? I don't but I do attend a family gathering for the food. lol Looking forward to some appetizers and pizza tomorrow.

Nope, i skipped it.  Paramount network had a marathon of COPS i was watching, then i played the new Tomb Raider game when i got bored of cops.  I despise the Patriots, and don't give a sh*t one way or another about the Rams.  And then the half time show was a total waste, they dipping into the bottom of the barrel for talent.  Maroon 5 i like but the others are about as entertaining as watching paint dry, no  actually paint drying may be more entertaining than Big Boi.

I did make some killer steak n cheese quesadillas and spicy provolone cheese sticks with a home made marinara to dip them in.

Also tried making a bacon cheeseburger casserole on Saturday that wasn't too bad.  had to season the hell out of it after cooking it though as i followed the recipe (first time making it) and whoever wrote the recipe loves bland food i guess.

I was thinking about something I do that a lot of people think I am weird for. Whenever I eat chips or fries, just plain ones, I dip them in honey, not ketchup. I never really thought this was weird as when I was younger, I would get honey with the chicken nuggets from Burger King and use it for both the chicken and fries. I thought everyone did that until I got older and got some weird looks. lol

What are some things you do that you enjoy (food related or not) that most people just seem to think you are weird for?

that's actually pretty good.  Fries and vinegar is weird, and pretty disgusting.

i'm a strong believer in fry sauce.  i'll make my own if they don't have any where ever i'm eating.  I've gone as far as asking the server if they can bring stuff from the kitchen to mix up my own since they don't offer it.  couple ingredients on the side since most places already have ketchup and mustard.  I get told by friends and family "No ordering your own fry sauce, get something besides fries" now.

  11. i was expecting Arthur to die, John also died at the end of RDR.  I like that, it's a different twist that most games don't give you.  It sometimes gets tiring playing the same character from beginning to end and then in free roam in the open world.  Not that i'd want another GTAV remake, i wasn't a fan of having to play and switch through 3 characters.  Playing as Arthur was a nice twist, although him falling down hacking up a lung near the end of the chapter did get a bit tedious.

Chapter 5 was a waste, it added nothing to the story line.  It was like Rockstar said "Oh sh*t! we're a chapter short, hurry throw something in there, we'll tie it into the end of chapter 4 somehow."

I second the predictability of the overall story. There wasn't enough guess time between the major turns in the story and they kind of hinted at what was about to happen before it happened. It is like an egg was about to hatch and someone says "Oh, look, there is a crack in the egg!".

we kinda knew already how the story was going to go, it had to lead to John for RDR to have happened.   I never did suspect Micah to be the rat.  He was a total waste and i wanted to kill him all throughout the game, but all his preaching about the big picture and whatnot sold me.  I was thinking Javier, since we killed him in RDR, was the mole.

I just downloaded rdr2 on another PlayStation with my own ps account. Until now I only played online but I wanted to play story mode and I thought since its my same account I would start off where I left on story mode, but I’m back at the snowstorm. I can’t load my previous game does anyone knows how to fix this or do I really have to go through the snowstorm again? 🙄 just wondering

sounds like you started a new game in story mode.  I have both story mode and online mode going, although i don't play online anymore, and haven't lost any progress when i was switching back and forth.  See if you have any save points in story mode you can go back to near where you left off.

PAY YOUR BOUNTY. Problem goes away.

    12 hours ago, Syrens said:

Sadly this is about the only means I would suggest too.  Pay it, and be one of the good folks while you make your way to the fishing hole.

You cannot pay the bounty for the Blackwater area and New Austin.

Is there anyway to get these 2 fish in the part of the map that you are wanted dead or alive in, before reaching the epilogue? I've tried and tried and the bounty hunters just wont let up!

not that i ever found. bounty hunters are on you before i could get the line in the water.

nope, you missed them they're not replayable. you'd have to start a new game.

Doing my second story playthru and i’m on Chapter 5 (the one on the Island of Guarma). I was wondering if anyone knew of any craftable items back in America that would require me obtaining materials such as certain plants or animal parts from Guarma. I.E. should I take advantage and try to get as much as I can from the island to bring back or maybe not? Thanks

nope no crafting items needed from Guarma, but you'll need to study and track the birds there if you want to complete the full compendium

Dang, sorry about that, I mis-remembered that. I had thought that I got all the bones on my previous run through. It was the carvings and dreamcatchers I must have completed.

No worries,  i tried and tried to get into New Austin for those bones and the legendary fish/animals.  Farthest i ever made it was just across the river.

I am looking for a new computer desk. All the ones I like the look of get bad reviews. I am going to be moving at the end of February so I want to have it here and ready to move with me so I can just leave the piece of junk I am using now behind. I don't want to spend more than $200. I plan to get a better one down the road but not yet as I will have a limited amount of space at first (moving in with my brother and sister-in-law and taking over the rent in the summer when they buy their house).

I got mine about 8 or 9 years ago at Office Max.  Closest one i can find online now is this one.

    https://www.officedepot.com/a/products/475958/Realspace-Magellan-Collection-L-Shaped-Desk/

Great desk, i had a 3 monitor setup on it (23" Dell P23H15 i think they were) HP wireless printer, and it still had a good bit of space for whatever.  now it just holds my lizard and his supplies as i sold off all my PC gaming stuff.  This summer that desk is probably going away too, once i get my nightstand built the lizard tank can sit on.

  18. Been a while since i played that one.  From the IGN walkthrough -

    Spoiler

Next, you have to treat that septic wound Colm mentioned. Using the candle, rotate the tool with the left stick to fully heat all sides of it. Then plunge it into your wound with x/a. It’s a pretty unpleasant sight, but it’s necessary. Wiggle it back and forth with the left stick while alternating the right stick between far right, and far left.

    https://www.ign.com/wikis/red-dead-redemption-2/Blessed_are_the_Peacemakers

Don't remember if you have to tap X/A repeatedly or just hold it,  i'm thinking it's one you have to tap it.

It may ruin the pelt completely.  A field test on a regular animal may be in order first.

I usually use my dynamite arrows on clusters of enemies (especially ones on horseback) so I can't be certain how well that would work.

Exploding rifle rounds are great for bounty hunters :D  head shot and they become the headless horsemen.  Tried them on a pack of wolves once by accident also, shortly after taking out the bounty hunter group.  killed 2 wolves with 1 shot, hides were scrap though.  So yeah maybe the dynamite arrow will be a bit much, but hella fun to find out!

  20. 3 minutes ago, BropolloCreed79 said:

I suppose Dynamite Arrows are out of the question, then.

Great idea, i didn't think of those!  i'll have to try them tonight.  You can't hurt a Legendary Pelt,  found that out when i accidentally shot the white bison a half dozen times with the Varmint Rifle, thinking i had the Springfield equipped.  Changed the look of them to tell them apart after that since they're almost always the 2 in my weapon wheel.

I need a perfect badger pelt. Can anyone tell me  where to hunt Badgers..

    Thanks

they're nocturnal, you can find them pretty much all over the map except Ambarino,  might even find them there, i just haven't.  My go-to spots are the old oil derrickjust south of Twin Stack Pass, and then in Eris Field and Ringneck Creek.  you'll find 'Possum there also if you need those for Trapper gear.
