I used the gold glitch in story mode.
i tried that one, could only get 2 bars on the xbox. so it wasn't much of a glitch. You get that and more from the various treasure hunts. Haven't bothered with any others, i think they take away from the game rather than enhance it. Some games glitches/exploits are fun though.

i spent days and days of time playing F-Zero and Ocarina of Time.

Can you tell i don't look at much but the RDR2 forum? been here for 2+ months and finally made it to the off topic part
So.. me...
Born and raised a redneck in Idaho. Grew up in a tiny town in the mountains (elevation 6000+ ft) I could walk to the river and fish, ride my bike up the hills and hunt, spend many winter weekends in snow caves "camping" in the mountains around the town. Loved it and i love going back to visit where i grew up. Parents still live there, it's just over an hour away from me now. Pretty much everything is an hour (or more) from here lol.
I graduated high school in 93, moved south 2 hours from home and made an attempt at college. But the college schedule and the party schedule had to many conflicts. So like a lot of stupid 18 yr olds i chose to party instead. LIved in that college town for about 15 years. During that time i had numerous jobs, construction work, factory work, retail jobs, etc. until i found my niche with computers. That's all my parents fault BTW, we had our fist home computer in 83. Was always a hobby of mine building computers, fixing them, fixing my friend's/family's computers. So in 2003 i bit the bullet and went to work for Dell. Thought i'd hate having my hobby as a job, but i loved it, and still do. Got a new job, well new 7 years ago, and moved an hour north of the college town, so i'm only an hour from my parents now, working in IT at an engineering consultant firm. I just (a year ago, but i'm still so new to this position i squeak) got promoted to system admin/application support, so i get to support our internal servers and home-grown programs.
I've always been a gaming addict. Got the NES console for christmas just after it came out when i was 10, had every console from nintendo and Sega (my brother had Sega) up through the game cube and saturn, we skipped the sega pico and 32x though, as the 32x was just an add on to the genesis and the pico was for kids. From the game cube/saturn i switched to Sony, gott the PS1 and loved it. Used to have acid parties and play Wipeout on the PS1 at my friends house all night long. Then we'd spin it up in the afternoon and sit there dumbfounded at the track records we were able to set. Couldn't get no where near those when sober lol.
I was a Sony fan up through the PS3, then decided to try the Xbox 360 when my PS3 crashed. Never looked back, been an Xbox fan since and now have 2 XBox one S systems. One downstairs to control the media center and mine in my room.
So there's my rambling topic jumping history. My son is an avid gamer like I am, he just joined Job Corps and found he could take his Xbox there to play in the off hours. Just the one kid, no wife anymore, they all seemed to interfere with my games lol. So now i'm home alone with just the dog and RDR2, i'm happy

way back when D&D was satanic and people wanted it banned (mid/late 80s) i was an avid player. Played 3 nights a week for years until i became a parent and those responsibilities conflicted too much with the gaming.
As for my username, we were playing a module and had to interact with a black dragon. The dragon's name, at least the first part of it that we could pronounce was Kormathian. I shortened it and started using Kormath as my username online in the IRC chats and D&D styled MUD's of the late 80s/early 90s and then as the internet grew popular it became my online name for everything. I've found a few places online where someone has stolen my name
but for the most part if you see Kormath, that's me.

I rode past someone who was trying to flag me down in town a day or so after I gave him some medicine for a snakebite. Still got my reward after taking care of the other business I was attending to when I got back to him. Glad I didn't miss out!
The one you see again in Valentine is the important one. who doesn't want a free gun?

I haven't tried this myself, but can't you hijack an NPC's horse and make it your own?
sure, kill the rider, calm their horse then ride it around and bond with it, no point in saddling it till level 1 bonding and it responds to your whistle, once saddled it's your primary horse. Problem is nobody is riding a fox trotter in the open world, and i don't think you can keep one from doing a mission, if you can find one that way, but maybe i'm wrong.

@Kormath yes it takes a bit more effort, but to me it’s worth it to have the upgraded weapons and ammo by doing it that way, rather than replaying with just a standard loadout
yep i get that, I'll be doing it next play through on a new game. I may try with their standard weapons just for fun though

Ha. I usually keep my varmint rifle to the left and Springfield at the bottom.😀 I really wish there was a better way to sort your weapons. I hate having to choose only 2 long arms when I'm off my horse and it's a pain in the butt having to cycle through and select the bow or sniper rifle when you need them when you're on your horse. I almost never use repeaters and I only use shotguns if I know there's a good chance I'll be in a firefight with cqc. This goes for both online and single player.
if i'm bored and wanting to lower my honor back to red after doing missions i use the Lancaster and semi-auto shotgun to go on a killing spree. You'd think the people in Van Horn would go into hiding when they see me riding into town with those equipped, considering how many times i've made Van Horn a ghost town

A buddy of mine finished the story and 100% the game. Has no interest in online. Any suggestions on ways to still have fun with the game for him? He asked me but I am still playing the story.
go for golds in all missions, play for the full red honor bonus or full white honor bonus, craft all the items from the trapper/fence, tons to do that just getting 100% doesn't cover.

I got 100% and honestly thought it would take a lot more. I took things slow at first, then got through the story before worrying about the extra requirements. Keep an eye on the total completion section of your progress. You're probably focusing on things that aren't necessary, like I was.
I'm going for 100% this first play through. the damn sharpshooter challenge still gets the better of me though lol. I get hat, hat, woops head shot, now every time. So soon i should get a lucky 3rd and finish that one.
16 hours ago, gamerfan1010 said:@Kormath gotcha 😀 so are you not trying for golds then?
Not this play through. I want to do everything i can and enjoy the game this round. Next time through i'll do the golds. Seems like it's too much of a chore restoring save points repeatedly to get gold.

White Arabians sell for a good amount and I would also like to have a couple of spare. I already have one but is it possible to get multiple or will they not spawn if you only have one
it's like the highlander, There can be only 1. Horses don't respawn, they die a true death. Except for the DLC horses, they have special powers.

I do have the buck trinket. Maybe that's what got it for me. I generally rely on the tool tip from studying the animals to determine what weapon to use.
yep so i do i other than the small animals and song bird types. Unless i'm in a mission my weapon wheel has the varmint rifle at bottom and Springfield at left.

But they are not the best horses in the game lol. The Turkoman and Fox Trotter offer more. I had the Fox Trotter in Chapter 2 never looked back.
bullsh*t. They're not found in the wild. How'd you get one in chapter 2? You can't buy the Champagne until chapter 4 and the Silver Dapple until the epilogue.

I remember I had a hell of a time trying to get a perfect squirrel pelt to upgrade one of the satchels. Even with small game arrows, the damn things are so small, you have to be practically right next to it with it sitting still to get a clean shot in.
Legendary buck trinket upgrades almost every small animal to perfect. I never use the small game arrows anymore. Varmint rifle and cross fingers on the trinket working.

@Kormath wow that’s impressive!! 😀 sounds like you and I are playing it about as completely opposite as possible!! I’m also trying to get gold medals along the way, which halts mission progress as well (sometimes more than I would like )
I've only progressed through the story missions to unlock things needed for the side content. otherwise i'd still be in chapter 2

I havent seen this yet, from any npcs I have saved. If you dont notice them trying to grab your attention does the opportunity go away?
Here is a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXliv7hAZtEI don't think they go away. I saved a guy in chapter 2 and got his "reward" in chapter 3.

Okay, I know I'm opening myself up for ridicule here, but I've been playing the game since release and I STILL HAVE YET TO GET ONE #^@%ING "PERFECT" PELT!!
I've spent a great deal of time with those blasted binoculars looking EVERYWHERE for a "Perfect" specimen - for academic purposes, let's say -- a deer - I FINALLY find one, I use the bow and arrow, I get the thing right in the head and it falls over dead. I triumphantly march over to get my kill, take it back to Pearson, select to "Donate," and--
It says "Donate GOOD Deer Pelt"!!!!
???!!!!
HOW DID IT CHANGE?!?!
Please tell me what in the blue hell I am doing wrong before I forcibly rip out what little hair I have remaining in this head of mine.
Thanks in advance. Unless you don't know the answer. Then -- no thanks for you.
- SkunkFirst, get the legendary buck and craft the trinket at a fence. That gives you a chance to have a pelt upgraded. Seems to work 4 out of 5 times on small game and 3 out of 7 ish on large game in my experience.
Next, study the animals, then press RB/R1 to view their info, that will tell you the preferred weapon to use to get a perfect pelt. Then use that weapon (don't use exploding rounds) and Dead eye for a headshot. If you kill a 3 star animal (you'll be able to see the star rating after studying them) you'll get the perfect pelt, or have the chance to have a 2 star upgraded by the trinket to get a perfect pelt.

@Kormath I’m still on chapter 2-I’ve been doing more of the side stuff lately
I'm almost to the point i don't have any side content to do. I've made it far enough through chapter 4 I unlocked that dead eye perk.
I've got maybe a dozen things left to hunt for (not counting the legendary animals and pelts only found in New Austin) to complete everything the trapper can craft. All the fence items have been crafted. All the dinosaur bones (minus New Austin) have been discovered, all rock carvings, all Legendary fish have been caught (minus new austin again).
I have the horsemanship challenge to finish but i keep dying before i can get to Blackwater.
Working on the weapon Expert (at 9), Herbalist At 8 (but i'm stuck as the only missing herbs i need are in New Austin), Sharpshooter at 9, Survivalist at 10 (New Austin holding me back again
).
Gambler, Master Hunter, Bandit, and Explorer challenges finished.

And no, I do not request an animated sex scene upon completion of the romance but I am not against it neither.
i like them left out personally, gives your imagination room to work. Unless it's an utterly boring, way to long game like Witcher 3, then yeah put them in for something entertaining in the game.

@Kormaththanks 😀 I was just trying to figure out the easiest weapon to use to get the 15 headshots to work towards the gold medal for that mission
use your favorite. I always go with the springfield rifle and semi-auto shotgun for missions.

What’s the best weapon to use to get the 15 headshots? I was thinking varmit rifle bit idk how well that would work in the beginning with the lawmen and townspeople so close-any advice woujd be appreciated 😀
varmint is good for headshots, really any weapon can be used with aim assist for easy headshots except the sniper rifles. Aim, tap up on the left stick, fire.

I actually found the black estate boss hat on someone I killed in a gunfight in Lemyone back during Chapter 2. I said, "Howdy" and he made a derogatory comment, so I pulled him off his horse with a lasso and shot him in a very uncomfortable place (no, not the back of a Volkswagen). Then the hat started glowing on the ground, and I was all, "cool, free hat".
I often kill people for hats, helps get me closer to the full red honor. If i notice i'm not wearing a hat the next person that rides by with a hat i like or haven't remembered wearing is dead
I've collected numerous hats this way.

Yeah. If it was bigger, maybe the size of a Turkoman, it would be the ideal horse.
i like the smaller size, to me they look and seem more nimble, the larger horses seem like lumbering hulks that should be pulling plows and wagons rather than being ridden. Besides that, if you've ever ridden a horse for a while, you get sore faster on the bigger ones than riding a smaller horse (or maybe it's just me getting old). Much rather ride an arabian or quarter horse sized than a turkoman for a full day.

Totally agree. I gave up computer gaming for console gaming. I was playing both Xbox 360 and then Xbox one while also computer gaming. I was spending about 1200 every other year to keep up with computer gaming, now i spend 3 or 400 every 4 years or so for consoles. I spent like 250 for the 360, then about that much again for the 360 S. Another 2 or 300 for the Xbox One, that again for the One S. So that's what, maybe a grand in the last 14 years?
