On my previous play through, I found a few coins at the bottom of a well. On this play through, I found a coin in a train carriage.
Since the vast majority of the cash we find is in bill form (looting dollars and cents doesn’t really count here), is there any significance to the coins? I know in some other games, picking up random coins is a thing.
They're just loot, sell them to the fence if i recall correctly.

Do not bait, do not cover scent.
Bait no, i think it was a coincidence when it worked for me at first. Cover scent is a must. The circled areas in the attached pic are the best spots to hunt them.
What i do -
camp until evening just north of these areas, usually puts you in a camp on the road just under the S in "Meadows" on the map. I always wear headphones hunting panther and cougar to hear them easier. I use the Springfield rifle with Express rounds, apply cover scent, crouch walk through the forest there in the circled areas, usually the southern one, i don't hunt much in eastern circle unless i can't get a spawn in the lower area.
Eagle eye every 50 - 60 feet or so, check all around you, rinse and repeat. When you hear the growl the panther is near, eagle eye and find him, dead eye and shoot him in the face. Perfect pelt every time.

There may be multiple actions in that same spot also. you might have to tap R1 to cycle through them to pick up the gun, or hat, or loot the body, or whatever.

I would like to say hello to everyone as I am the new guy here. I have played RDR,RDR1,undead nightmare and now working on RDR2. I’m really enjoying the game so far. I only have one question and it really doesn’t pertain to gameplay (that will be later) but more for my curiosity. My wonderful wife decided to buy me a copy of RDR2, here’s the interesting part to me. Its a steelcased standard edition as far as I can tell, it has a steel case and an actual map but no bonus codes of any kind. The thing that has me wondering, I thought only special editions and ultimate editions came in a steel case . From the research I have done I have not found a steel cased standard edition, this was a brand new factory sealed game. Hopefully someone who knows more about the editions can help me with an answer. I really appreciate any and all help I receive, and thanks for letting me join.
little online searching, all i can find for steel boxes are the collectors box (map, bandana, coin, puzzle, cards, but no game included) box is a tithing box (piggy bank like hole in top).
The only other steel box i can find online is the Steelbook, only available through GameStop but it's the Ultimate Edition, game discs, physical map and the steel book are included for PS4.
I'd go with @Truth's suggestion and ask your wife to be sure.

I'm trying to rob people to pass the bandit 1 challenge but the number of the robbed people doesn't increase even if i rob someone.
I tried horses, trains, random pedestrians, i even robbed stores but none of these did nothing, help me please!
P.s. i'm not mother tongue so if i wrote something wrong dont get mad
you have to target them and press Y to rob. Only 1 person in a location will count, or did for me. When I robbed 4 or 5 people in a train car i only got credit for 1. They have to be townsfolk. Try at night behind the buildings or the auction barns in Valentine.

Blow up a stagecoach (it takes a bit of dynamite and ingenuity, but it CAN be done).
The last 3 or 4 stagecoach missions i went on i just blew them up, was much easier. a well timed toss of the dynamite and boom, you got a busted up stage, dead guards, and dead horses to give you that red honor.

my thought was to throw him in the river downstream where it was deeper so he could learn to swim.
What i liked doing was shooting lone horsemen at the river crossings then chasing their horse into the river and killing it to get the red honor, then watch them and see how far down stream they would float.
Never did beat up the newspaper boy, shot him though, and he was selling papers the next day with his head and left eye wrapped in bandages. Tough kid.

@ZachW I strongly recommend working toward the Legends of the East Satchel. Took me a lot of time, but I had a lot of fun doing it. It allows you to hold 99 of almost every item, so it will surely come in handy. You can get it without doing the work at the end of the game, but it's hardly necessary at that point. It's best to get the satchel upgraded early on.
I'd also recommend working on the challenges as you go.
I found the panther to be the easier of the big cats. My score versus the cougar is much worse than the panther
Probably because the panther is in that one small area only, and the cougar is all over the map almost. I got attacked by one going into Annesburg the other day. Luckily I was close enough to the town it ran off after the first attack, so i was able to finish the cougar in the compendium by tracking it then.
When hunting them use scent cover and crouch and creep around the area they spawn in until you hear them growl, then eagle eye until you spot them and blam dead cat. Just wish my son would have told me that 2 months ago instead of 2 weeks or so ago lol, i wouldn't have had such a hard time with them as i did way back when.

I do not want to rush through the story so I want to find some fun things to do. I've thought about hunting legendary animals but I'm only chapter 3 so I don't know how many I can hunt. I've already found a white Arabian. What are some things I could do?
you can hunt all the legendary animals but the 3 in New Austin, I would strongly suggest hunting and getting the Legend of the east Satchel. Also start the legendary fish, you can catch all but 3 of them, the last 3 being in New Austin.
There's the challenges - the gunslinger, bandit, herbalist, etc.
I've been playing the game almost every night since it's release, and i've only made it into chapter 4, because i wanted to unlock that dead eye bonus. You have to unlock the horse fence in chapter 3 for a bandit challenge.
Then there's the treasure hunts,
Then finding all the rock carvings.
then finding all the dinosaur bones (there's a few in New Austin),
then just going out and exploring and seeing all the awesomeness that's in the game.

In my previous play through, I had huge problems in finding blackberries for predator bait and the herbalist challenges.
In my second play, I found a couple of bushes real close to camp. I made the mistake of eating them, thinking that would start the challenge (like a fool, I forgot that the first rank is six yarrow)
So a couple of game days later, I went back to find more, only to find that I couldn’t find any.
When you pick plants, are they gone for good? Or do I need to wait longer for them to regrow?
they respawn. not sure what the timer is. I'd pick what i could find for the exotics and herbalist challenges, then go do a mission or 2 or hunt for a few days and they'd be back.

i've had this happen a few times. Exiting the game and a hard boot of the console fixed it for me. Always best to exit the game when you're done playing for the night or other extended periods.

I tried looking for it, gave up after 5 minutes.
I'll try to look into it if I remember. Still need to find that damn moose too...
the save game and reload works. but it's really tedious. i get a moose (so far 1 or 2 stars) every 6 or 7 reloads. And the trinket doesn't seem to work on these to upgrade the skin from 2 star to perfect.

@Kormath I don’t remember 😥 I just had a popup on my screen that said he requested that item
you picked up the book by the tent then. you wouldn't get that popup otherwise. Maybe save your game and reboot the console (for xbox) or clear the cache in the PS4. that's fixed some 'glitches' like this.

There's a barn in St. Denis with random horses. There's a post here somewhere about it.
Not sure if you can get the White Arabian there. You can buy the other Arabians in the stables in chapter 4, not sure they'll be available in the prologue, i haven't made it through chapter 4 yet
Attached picture of the barn location just north edge of St. Denis (at least i think that's where it is).

Has anyone else had an issue with getting this for him? I went to the house it’s supposed to be at last night and it wasn’t on the coffee table. I had picked up the compass for Pearson before that and hadn’t given it to him yet-is that why? Are we not able to get more than I item request at a time?
You have to pick up the book by Hosea's tent first, did you do that?
You can do more than one at a time.
I had
Spoilerthe book for Jack, the pen for Mary-Beth, and the harmonica for Sadie
all at the same time. You can get Jack and Mary-Beth's items in the same location.

So I red in the Saint Denis Paper that there is ought to be a casino boat parked somewhere in the city but I cant find, is it possible to get on board ?
not that i've found, other than a story mission on it.

nice! thanks for the post!
I think there's a lot they could add to RDR2 with DLC's. They could expand on the story lines for the surviving gang members, like Sadie, Pearson, Mary Beth, etc.

I would just restart it to be sure in this case. I never heard of a glitch or anything when you have the gun and the photo. I had no issues with it the first time. I should be coming up on it real soon for my second playthrough so if something happens I will post it here.
Did it 3 times, twice myself cause i restored to a previous save, and once with my son on his game. Never had an issue.

Can I ask what all the locations are where the law doesn't interfere? I was only aware of three of them but apparently, there is more than that.
Just 3 that i know of. Van Horn, Butcher Creek, and my mind went blank of the place in New Austin.

If you reach that destroyed cabin up at Lake Isabella, then save your game, you can load back up, go up to the cabin, then make your way down to the water. One will usually spawn 8f you do that. If it doesn't, or it isn't 3 stars, just load back up and try again.
works but my god this is tedious. 6 or 7 restores at the save to finally see a moose. Oh but i'ts just 2 star and my trinket didn't upgrade the skin (yes my luck is sh*t). They need to change the wording on that trinket, it doesn't work every time like it reads to do.

but I think horses ride faster on roads than other terrain.
they do. but it's shorter distance to take the tracks. I ride beside the tracks on the gravel, riding on the tracks will slow you down a touch too.

read this wrong, you're talking expansion to the game.
We know what happens with John after RDR2, why not the rest? I think it would be fun to play as Sadie and see her story expanded. Or play as Bill/Dutch/Charles up until they get killed by John in RDR.
Or why not go farther back and see how each member (and the ladies) got to be in the gang.

I skinned the male, not the female. They're shown as 2 different animals in the compendium so I think they might count them as a different species for the achievement.
that sucks, i've never seen a female, just lone bulls roaming around.

Turn subtitles on while you watch tv, NONE of them are perfect... Just be happy they spell things correctly...
I also wouldn't say they're broken...
agreed, i thought it was funny that some of the subtitles are incorrect. Like intentionally incorrect for a laugh. You get to see what htey really mean but they say something different

I was looking around for them for a few hours. I checked most of the places @Padalex mentioned but never spotted one. I got mauled by a few cougars and shot down a few bears, but no moose in sight.
Really sucks because I'm pretty sure I just need to skin a moose for the "skin every animal" achievement... I'm stuck at 98% and can't figure anything else out...
check the animal compendium it will list all that have been killed, studied, tracked, and skinned. If you did the camp upgrade you should have skinned one, unless you turned in the carcass.

The Law/Bounty systems are SEVERELY FLAWED
in Red Dead Redemption 2
Posted
supposedly 80% of the bounty is all they take if you surrender. I always just pay my bounty off in a different state. you get so much money from looting, hunting, treasures, etc. paying off an $800 bounty is no big deal.
