Then that makes you and the OP wrong.

    How exactly am I wrong?

This game needs BASIC game play options.  Most of which would solve the griefing you complain about it.

What has smart got to do with it?   How does checking your map help?  I'm standing there fishing and someone rides up, kills my horse then me.  What are we supposed to do, stop fishing or hunting every time we see a player on the map near us?

The only time a griefer killing you can really effect you..  Is when your horse has animals bodies or a fish on it.     Since you can only carry one big fish on your horse, theres really no huge loss to being killed while fishing.  Is it annoying.. Yes.   But so is someone throwing tnt into the water while you fish

What players should be doing is asking R* for private servers and free aim lobbies.   Basically everything I listed.

Private servers solve everything in terms of enjoying the game and not having to deal with pests.

Some of use.. Like dealing with pests.

Gotcha. Well I created a new topic separate from this varmint rifle discussion, more along the lines of what people do prefer to use. Interested to see everyone's opinion.

You can test the guns in single player..   (well if you progressed far enough to own every weapon).  Which is probably the best way feel out the weapons you like.

But as far as Litch VS Lancaster goes.. Its basically comes down to speed vs power.

Correct that it wouldn't exists in a private lobby, but it still exist.  Not all players want to play solo in a private lobby.  Yes, they can always invite friends, but some like Co-op play.  They like to help others and move on.  Just the other day I was hunting and there was others around.  It was fun and everything was fine, till some tool decided he needed to come along and attack everyone.  Funniest part, there was a town not that far away on the map that had a group that was fighting each other.  Now in a private lobby, I won't have chance encounters where a group could work together and then part ways.  Yesterday, I rode up on a gang hideout and when I got there a player popped up on my map.  He was surrounded, so I shot at a couple NPCs and then they focused on me.  He then finished them off.  He waived and I waived back and rode off.  Guess, what he still did his thing and I did mine.  I can get that in the current state, but because of Griefers.  99% of the time I won't.  Why because Griefers have everyone on their heels, so when they see another player, they shoot 1st and ask questions later.  In PvEvP, there should be some question if a player appears, that just maybe they won't be an Asshat.  Right now, it almost a given they will be.

The attitude you have is kind of wrong.. Well id say the lack of attitude.

Im friendly.. and will help players.  I help them all the time.  But in the back of my mind im always waiting for someone to attack me and that its what makes it fun.  For me its.. go ahead, and make my day.

One of my favorite games of all time was Diablo 2.   Back in that game the griefers where called PKers.   A lot of people hated them.. I LOVED them.  Because they added sort of evil encounter feel to the game that was better than AI's.   There was also private game options..

    Same applies to RD O.

R* should not dumb this game down for players who don't like conflict with others.  They should add private lobbies OR at the very least Friendly Lobbies for PvE only players.

I don't want R* to punish griefers or hostile players.  I can do it myself.

Griefing is the least important thing R* should be focusing on.  They should be adding BASIC game player features and options, some of which would end griefing by default.

I, like many of you I'm sure, use the bolt action rifle as my go-to weapon for defending myself from hostile players. (That is when out of range of my trusty pump-action) Well I am looking to upgrade from the carbine repeater to another one (mostly for PvE purposes) but was wondering if any of you use a repeater for self defense or if there is another weapon I haven't mentioned that you may prefer? What are yall's preferences?

Lancaster or Litchfield with express rounds is better for shootouts.    I like to hold a Lancaster and Bolt Action.  I start with a Bolt Action.. then swap to Lancaster.

Apparently, you want to argue.  Yes, private lobbies will help the PvE players, but it isn't fixing the griefing.   I understand if you are in the PvEvP lobby, you should expect stupid players to continue to be stupid.  It doesn't mean someone fishing or hunting is waiting for you to come shoot them.  Especially, when you can see players in town shooting each other all day long, yet a player that thinks going after the guy not involved that appears to be hunting or fishing.

Clearly its not me who wants to argue.   Because private lobbies does fix griefing in the sense that, you can't be griefed in private lobbies.  (Well not by randoms anyways)

You know how I deal with randoms in public lobbies who try and grief me..   ?

Players can live with being killed.  When a players fill a need to attack and only attack players that aren't participating in PvP is an issue.   I understand seeing a player and trying to start some PvP action, but seeing a group in a town shooting everything in sight and then deciding the those players out in the middle of no where is where the PvP action is?  Come on!  Seriously, to say there isn't a issue because you decide there isn't one.

Dude..  Private Lobbies means you can run around the map all day on a donkey while using a bow and arrow and NO ONE can mess with you.  You would have nothing to complain about if they had private lobbies.

That also means.. If you chose to play public games, you agree to deal with public randoms.

No sir. Id be happy to demonstrate its effectiveness to you in a 1v1. My PSN is RED_DEADMAN.   Especially no ability cards equipped. Ill have drawn and put a round into your head before you've even lifted a double action.

Ability cards are a part of the game.

    And im on xbox.

Sorry but you can't out draw a Double Action.. especially with Dead Eye active.    And that's not even the point.

Even if I let you have the 1st shot. I can still crouch and kill you with body shots before you can land a head shot.

I give zero shits about a VR.  For good reason.     Its not the fastest gun for head shots and its the worst gun for body shots.

Griefing is an issue and a Major one at that.

No its not..      I've rarely been griefed.   When im alone, I just play it smart.  With friends, we steam roll through everyone in our way.

And if we had Private lobbies...  Players like you who have a problem with being 'griefed'... would not be have any problems at all.

Dumbing this game down more and more to suit the taste of players who don't want to be killed.  Will only ruin the experience for players who like the 'anything can happen' feel of the game.

If your not using slow and steady ill own you everytime.

Even without Slow and Steady or Never without One.      Someone who goes full glass cannon style can drop someone faster than they can aim the VR.

That gun is only good for killing newbies in Showdown.  Which any gun can do.

I mean.. at medium range for example.  A Double Action is faster than a VR for headshots.

  10. The Beta was easy to stomach for many people at 1st.      Because it was called a 'beta', most of us thought it would only be for a week or two.  So it was just fun to play with friends and experience the game.

But now R* says the beta will last for a 'few' more months.       And the only thing they talked about is minor changes to help against 'griefing'..   When griefing is the least important thing.

Unless R* pulls its head of its ass soon.  This game will be a ghost town soon.

This game needs free aim lobbies and private lobbies.

The choice for players to HOST their own co-op and pvp missions. Be it public or private with options to suit taste.

The ability to pick what pvp modes they want to play.  NOT Show down..     If players want to play team shoot outs ONLY, let them.    Just like the OLD RDR.

BASIC things that ALL online R* games have had the past 10 year.  R* has decided to NOT do it.  They sure as hell made sure to get their Gold Bar store open ASAP tho.   But in terms of game play they're literally treating their players like cattle.  No choice and no control.

Srry for the rant.  But this is just starting to become frustrating.

This is a billion dollar game dev.   Not Gun Media...

What ammo do you use? I use Express, but I'm thinking about getting the pamplet for split point ammo. Not sure how much of a damage boost that gives.

Usually express rounds.  Sometimes High Velocity..

I kind of regret spending money on split point ammo.   You have to craft each one.. one by one  and its not that big a difference when compared to regular ammo.   I rarely use it

     Same here..

Just gotta remember you're open to the same type of counter.  Once your hat gets shot off, you take more damage.  And S&S just serves to make you take normal damage without a hat on..

A good counter,  without copying them is.

Focus Fire, Peak Condition, Winning Streak, Unblinking Eye.   If you're in a posse, even with one person with this set up. Focus fire will give everyone a damage boost.

I like to swap my card load out all the time.   It really catches tanky players off guard when I go full glass cannon.  Sure, il die in one head shot.  But I kill them like they are not using any real tanky perks.   It sort of even things all out.

I hate killing horses too. Don’t like it when people killed my horse. So I try to avoid it. But now it looks like I’m going to have to be a horse killer to any Grefer. And yes he had both those parks. I will definitely try your method. Thank you!

Heres a video I recently found of someone using exactly what I explained.

The video is him fighting against posse using some sort of weird glitch.  So hes not griefing.  Hes defending himself.

But, just take a look at what hes doing.  Constantly using Slow and Steady and grabbing more hats everytime his gets shot off.

Lucky for him the griefers didn't kill his horse..lol.   That horse is the only reason he stays alive for so long.

This is very helpful. I did not know that’s how it worked. Anyone that has this perk the horse is dead for now on. Thank you.

Here 's a more in depth look at it.

    They are mostly using

Slow and Steady which makes them take less damage and head shots don't always kill them one shot..  They can't run on foot with this ON and riding on a Horse they can move quickly.

Never without One.  When they have a HAT on they take less body shot damage and they can survive a head shot.  But without a hat on they take MORE damage.  So everytime you shoot their hat off, they just grab another hat from their horse.  Which only takes a seconds to put another hat back on when on a horse.

So once you kill their horse and shoot his hat off.  They now take more damage.. Even with Slow and Steady on (Now they can't move fast on a horse, they are on foot.)  Slow and Steady now just makes them take normal damage.   And without a horse they can't just grab another hat.

I've been having to do this a lot lately.   I hate killing horses but, it is what it is..lol

Yeah at times, but he also had the hat park where you couldn’t head shot him.

Kill his horse..   Always kill the horse when you deal with players with that perk.  They rely on their horse to keep getting Hats back ASAP.     So it basically allows him to keep eating head shots.  (He was probably using S&S too)

Use a scoped weapon or hipfire./shotguns at close range is the easiest way to kill his horse.

Yeah it was 3 to 1. But he was like a level 98 with all the parks and we couldn’t kill him. No matter what we did this idiot just kept following us. No I didn’t say anything crazy. I just messaged him to let him know that I reported him. I have no idea what he said to Xbox to get me banned.

    Was he on a horse?

Why?  Can't handle people your own rank?

Feel free to add me on xbox.  Myself and friends love griefers.

  18. So R* is going to add lawmen that go after people who commit murder?  And they have to pay a bounty off to get the law off them.

So basically anytime someone defends themselves?    Its always called MURDER regardless how who started shooting 1st.

Sounds like the same BS  they pulled with GTA O with insurance and bad sport, just to drain players money.

Looks like all that's coming in this particular update is a stupid new pvp game

    Stupid is being too generous.

They have the best western game ever made.  People want shootouts.  Like RDR1.  Not Fortnite clones game modes

30 players..  one small area.  Auto aim.  Only one life.  YES!   So much awesome.

Gang hideout missions are not worth doing as they stand as treasure maps are almost non-existent. As an alternative, R* should allow the selling of gang member weapons, horses and saddles.  What does everyone think?

I found two maps in one game from two different hide outs. yesterday.

I've found so many maps now from hide outs.. that when I go a few days without finding one.  I think my lucky streak is over.

One of my friend has never found one map.  And he hates me.

Thats right ,but they hate them asswel. It's more and more build for kids to play the game, thats why they are gaming more games like arma on pc. That they play on there xbox it's because they have kids, and showing there kids daddy's shooting skills.

Meh.. I kind of like the cards.

My goal is to max all the cards out and swap them on the fly when needed.    It really messes with players.
