RED DEAD ONLINE BETA: TARGET RACES NOW AVAILABLE

Shoot targets while on horseback to pass checkpoints while racing and be first to finish in Target Races, today's addition to the Red Dead Online Beta.
All players start out with a bow and arrow – as you race, each target you hit will increase your Horse’s Stamina – but you can also take advantage of strategic pickups along the courses. Ride through Stamina pickups to extend your Horse’s sprinting time or quickly recover from a drained Horse Stamina core. Weapons pickups dole out firearms with limited ammo supplies – use a shotgun blast to quickly and easily takeout a checkpoint target or turn that weapon against your competition. While players can lock-on to checkpoint targets, using weapons against other competitors will require proficiency with free-aim. If you’re trailing behind, ride in your competitor’s slipstream to regenerate Horse Stamina quickly and gain a slight speed boost, or if you’re defending a lead you can kick your competitors to reduce their Horse Stamina levels with a slight chance of being able to knock them down. Launch Target Races from the Landing Page menu, using the Quick Join option or riding to a Featured Series sign post.
PlayStation 4 players get early access to Open Target Races, where you compete in an open space to take out all targets then race to the finish. You’re free to shoot targets in any order you wish, just keep an eye on how quickly your competition is knocking out targets and use the mini-map to know which target to hit next. PS4 players will also see the Special Series icon appear on the game map; the Special Series will appear whenever there is a PS4 early access mode and launch players directly into a series.

Whether you’re shooting your way through a Target Race, helping folks in need in Free Roam Missions, clearing Hideouts, hunting game, crafting supplies, or choosing the honorable (or dishonorable) path in A Land of Opportunities, the Red Dead Online Beta is dishing out a 20% boost on all XP earning activities. You can also take off 25% from everything in the Horse Care Section at the Stables and in the Wheeler, Rawson & Co Catalogue including medicines, revivers, stimulants and the trusty brush. Higher ranked players can always upgrade their saddles with 25% off Improved Saddles. Plus, look for the latest shipments of frontier worthy clothing:
- Morning Tail Coat
- Strickland Boots
- Bowyer Boots (Female only)
- Furred Gloves
Look for more additions to the Red Dead Online Beta in the weeks ahead, including new Showdown Modes Up In Smoke and Plunder, along with a big new update later this Spring.

I stopped with all that PC building stuff when it became apparent I had to buy new stuff whenever a new game came out - and all that stuff had to have more stuff so that it was all compatible (usually this meant a new case and everything else just to use the latest graphics card).
That's when I stopped as well. It started feeling like a never ending battle.
While my MBs, CPUs, sound cards, memory, HDDs, etc. were usually good to go for a while, it was the video cards I was replacing more often. It got to the point where I had a hard time justifying the upgrades. Just wasn't worth it. .....and as time went on the new cards required new, more powerful power supplies and new MBs with the appropriate interface. Enough was enough so I bought the PS3 when they came out and been a PS player ever since.

So how will you flag? Hopefully the wheels of the derail a thread have fallen off.
.....not likely.

"noobs that pay for gold bars"...sheesh!.😂
Those "noobs" are what drive the GaaS model. Without them buying GBs for cosmetic MTXs, games like thus would be shirt lived.
I'm not one to buy into it but I can appreciate those who do because they keep the games going.

Interesting..... A leaderboard without crafty cheaters, enthusiastic exploiters and / or guileful glitchers. ......yeah, never thought much of them myself.
-
If you're not willing to grind all over again I'm sure the option will become available at some point like it is in GTAO. Although it will likely cost some in-game money.
-
Not my cup of tea but glad to see the event wasn't a one day deal and some folks have been able to try it out.
-
It's all likely a moot point discussing this any further as the OP has been MIA since their post. ....another hit & run question from a new member.

-
I know. I hate it too. Just like the outfit reset bug everyone I log in.

So, if Im hunting on horseback, and I come across say a group of wolves, or boars, or deer, and as they run, I manage to kill 3 or 4 of them.
I then get off my horse to start skinning them, but often as I get to the second or third, the others are now just gone, like they de-spawned.
I dont understand if this is a glitch or the way it is, like animals that arent on your mini map when skinning they just act like they werent there to begin with.
It is super annoying when you are hunting to lose 1 or 2 carcasses and skins everytime.
Has anyone else noticed this?
Yes. Very common and likely just a limitation of the game (not a bug). If animals, etc. are outside of a certain range, the can despawn. The trick is to keep items within the area of the minimap if possible. .....but even in the best circumstances it could still happen at times. Could be due to how much has to be rendered at the time.

AFAIK, it's a long standing bug that still needs to be worked out.

If it keeps it durability for you and minor group of others that's great.
......minor eh?

Hey there Wayne. A couple things.....
FIrst, welcome to the forums. Second, I think you may have a misunderstanding that we are affiliated with R* and/or 2K (we're not). .....so when you say "you", we are not them. Just fans of the game.
Also, in case you wanted to contact R* directly to voice your concerns about the game, they have a Beta Feedback site here:
https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=f2e50892
Again, welcome to the site. Hope you can spend some time here browsing around and perhaps even share some of your own experience(s).
-
Unfortunately, like with some of these things in this game, there is no clear way to tell and no details on how we can (assuming we even could).

Alright, wasn't purposely trying to call out anyone within the forum or accuse anyone of being wrong from personal experience.
Deeply apologize if anyone was offended by this statement.
Just sharing my own personal experience from opening the controllers up myself in replacing the tiny springs and other components that do fail over time without it being thrown or dropped and figuring out how everything works through the course of the consoles lifetime.
Do respect your beliefs on this subject.
Probably could've of worded that statement a tad bit more friendly.
I'm not offended but simply calling it as I see it, that's all. I know some people have problems with them but others also don't.
I remember when there was a big deal some made about the thumbstick rubbers wearing out. I didn't doubt they had problems with them in their scenarios but I still have an original controller with some minor wear. ....been used almost daily.
.....no offense taken though.

The PS4 controller aren't very durable as many others claim it to be.
Perhaps those many others are saying they are durable because, well, they are. I'm just speaking from personal experience as I'm sure those many others have as well.

Hi Rasta and welcome.
I know there are a few people on here who prefer to play without auto aim and at least one posse I've seen recruiting who requires it. I'm sure they will be chiming in soon.

Seems like there are a lot of mixed signals here. Thanks everyone for adding input to help us all figure it out.

So what comes after RDR2?

I know @BropolloCreed79 was playing the Division 2. I am too in fact.
Days Gone is coming up quick but I have a funny feeling about that one. I just don't get a good vibe from the hype, interviews, footage, etc. .....a good vibe for me that is.
I don't know..... What do you like that you've played? I'm just waiting for the Spring RDO update which I have a feeling will land in April since that is when their published schedule ended for their weekly release of challenges, etc. ....I'll still be playing other titles at the same time though as I do now.
