Come on people close this good for nothing post
You're welcome to add your input but the thread will remain. As much as I don't agree with some of the viewpoints some have shared here including the OP, that isn't a valid reason to close the thread. ....wouldn't you think one of us would have done it already if there was?
Even through the disagreements in this discussion, folks are still remaining civil. If something is breaking the forum rules we would encourage you to report it. If something or someone is simply rubbing the wrong way you have the option to pass over the thread, the post and/or use the ignore feature if it's a particular member you no longer wish to view input from.
btw, welcome to the forums. I think you will find most here quite welcoming and generally courteous to one another. .....even through our disagreements over topics.

yes because animals have less value, spawn less and if u kill multiple animals they disappear when u are skinning 1st or at least while u are skinning ur 2nd animal.
In my experience, animals are still spawning the same for me and some others as well. We have no indication that this was something R* had implemented in their update (to reduce animal spawns). There are still plenty of animals in my hunting spots as there were prior to the TU (bugs/glitches due to the patch roll backs leading up to the update considered).
If you're experiencing a drastic decrease in animal spawns, I would encourage you to report the issue to R* perhaps as a bug.

Let them know what you're seeing in your sessions.
As far as the despawn of felled animals in the field, IME this has always been the case. What I've noticed is that a lot depends on the number of animals killed as well as their proximity to one another. The further away from each other, the more the chance the furthest ones will despawn before you can get to them all. I find that as long as they are within "radar range", I typically will not lose any to despawning.
I imagine it also has to do with what is going on in the gameworld at the time as well with system resources, etc. When I try to kill multiple animals at once, herds, flocks ,etc., I try to kill as many as I can and harvest those that are closest to each other (within the circumference of my mini-map. I then work my way outward and if the other animals are still there, great. .....if not, then they are lost.
This never changed for me or those that I've played with.

I am curious to all those people who claim they want a murder-free free roam. What are you trying to accomplish when you hunt, fish and pick herbs? You're gaining XP and $$$ for what reason? To dress up your Ken and Barbie dolls? Or, are you trying to become a stronger more powerful character in order to protect yourself from others that will try to kill you. There has to be a reason why you want to rank up other than just for the sake of ranking up. No? Maybe I'm wrong.
And for the record, I don't believe most who would be considered to be griefers are the anti-Christ. They're not necessarily deranged individuals and psychopaths because they play this within the parameters of the game. This is a game people. Don't take it so seriously! Play it if you like....play something else if you don't like it. Life's too short to worry about this kind of stuff. I'll most likely play it either way and will simply adapt my game style to whatever the devs come up with.
......and no offense but there again are the broad strokes that are used to paint a picture of those who voice their concerns with griefing. .....sprinkled with a helping of dismissiveness.
I can't speak for others but if you ask me what I ever wanted from Free Roam? .....balance. I'm ok with the PvP element but I was not ok with the way the gameplay was balanced. Personally, I think the latest changes in the last update are a step in the right direction. .....perhaps not without flaws but a good step nonetheless.
The insinuation that folks should go find something else to play if they don't like the game is all well and good but when R* is specifically asking people for their feedback to help develop RDO into the game they would like it to be, folks shouldn't blame them for providing it. Nor should they blame them when R* listens and tries to do something about it (IMO) like they have with the latest update. If it wasn't for people submitting their feedback to R* about griefing, there would have been no change. I get some folks would be ok with that but then there are those who would not. .....quite a few according to R*.
What's funny is that you mention that these people shouldn't be taking the game too serious and here we are in a thread created to argue the term "griefer" being used too much for some people's taste. I dunno, you tell me.

Hi rdro fans to handle griefing on rdro, rockstar should implement pvp free roam and pve free roam then and i think only then will griefing will stop. Thusly this will bring back players whom left like myself. Plus it will give low ranked players a chance to level up and then be able to compete in pvp events with same weapons and ammunition to make it fair and then in pvp free roam could go back to showing locations of all players on the on the map thus on pve we could find and track our friends playing in the game. Hope this gets to rockstar developers
Hi Don and welcome to the forums.
Please note that this is a fan forum. Anyone interested in actually trying to affect change in the game with their opinion and/or just want to let R* hear their feedback during the RDO beta should submit it through the website in the following link:
https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=f2e50892
Obviously we welcome you to share your thoughts, questions and experience here but you also need to use that site if you want R*'s ear.

As if we really needed another discussion regarding the choice of terminology used in what some people (a lot of people) consider a problem in this game. Its a moot point that has nothing to do with the root of the argument except to maybe try and legitimize the practice.
This isn't about semantics. It's really about a disagreement on how indiscriminate killing of others this game should be handled. ....or not.
Btw, the whole idea of bringing up kills during missions that invite players to participate as aggressors is diversionary. Most folks around here describing their issues with griefing are not talking about kills during missions. I know I'm not.
Either way, even R* describes indiscriminate killing as an act of griefing and they themselves use the term "griefers" to describe those who do it. That s good enough for me.

Personally, I wish they would get rid of the yellow that the posse leader see when they set a waypoint. Often times routes wash out against the light tan on the map.

Nothing changed for me after the update. Hunting and fishing are still the ways I make my money.

You can make A lot more money selling the parts and pelts from a half dozen deer and one carcass/whole animal than hauling them to the butcher one at a time... at least as far as dollars for a half hour time goes. At least from what I’ve noticed, your experience may differ. I also tend to shoot everything that walks, crawls, slithers or flys when I’m riding around... 30 cents is 30 cents after all.
It's especially nice now that we're getting paid for all the pelts.

I prefer the cross map method myself... spawn in at Blackwater or something then zig zag cross country from butcher to butcher, killing everything that moves... maybe not the most effective use of my time, but I enjoy the scenery. Also, I tend to go for quantity over quality. If I see a perfect buck I’ll make the effort to keep it that way of course. But I like to start seeing the ‘you can’t take any more parts’ messages before I get to the next sell point.
since the update, I have had one bad day where animals seemed to disappear. But today was back to normal for me.
We do that too. I also do the quantity over quality as I can collect a full load of meat for good profit. I'm also tend to bag several 2 star and even the occasional 3 star pelts peppering herds.

Kean_1 should make a list of these GREAT hunting spots he goes on and on about
I'd tell ya but then I'd have to shoot ya.

Seriously though, it's no secret. I personally like Big Valley but I also have success in areas like the plains of the Heartlands, etc. I usually just go to a spot and run back and forth over a distance that will allow animals to respawn.

And I’m for forcing the other into showdown or whatever it’s called making it a structured activity and free from bounty... or how about the option to ask for a showdown without requiring a violent act first? Select player xX420_rulzXx and have the option challenge to showdown...
I agree with this. Sounds like the Feud feature is optional for the aggressor. IMO, if we're talking deterrents, it should be and option for the victim and forced on the attacker.

Just because you're a snowflake who clicks the report button everytime someone kills you does not make what they're doing against the rules.
Take it down a notch Vesta. I've been courteous to you and I would expect the same in return. The patronizing attitude was bad enough but let's stop with the insults, ok?

Griefing is not a bannable offence, and nothing would ever have come of those reports. PvP is allowed in freemode, and has always had consequences to deter players from doing so (i.e. faster gun degredation rates).
I didn't mention what steps would or wouldn't be taken. None of us knows that as R* doesn't typically publicize or inform the complainant when they take action. This had to do with you saying that his report was not a legitimate complaint which it is. ....as it's even listed in the report feature. Seems R* also agrees as Support has directed some who have complained about griefing to use the in-game option.
2 minutes ago, x Vesta x said:I believe "disruptive behavior" could more accurately be described as cheating, which would of course result in consequences.
I'm sorry if you wasted your time reporting griefers hoping for anything different.
Actually, "cheating" isn't an accurate description of "disruptive behavior" at all and in fact, there is a specific entry for reporting cheating called "Cheating".
Don't worry about me or my time. It takes all but a few seconds to report griefers and then block them. I leave it up to R* as to what they do with that feedback which I think has been evident in their response to the community on the subject.

They aren't breaking any rules of the game by killing you. That is not a valid report.
That reply was nearly 3 months ago but taking his response in the original context of the discussion, yes, it is a valid report.
There is a report feature in the game and R* has specifically listed "disruptive behavior" which this clearly is. They have also made a correlation between indiscriminate killing and "griefing" since then.

I don't know what platform you're on (since your profile isn't filled out) but on PS4, there is a capture feature to take screenshots within a game and also a record option.
-
That's not my experience at all. My hunting spots are still filled with wildlife and while carcasses have been adjusted in value, whole animals fetch a good price.
If animals are not spawning for you, I would submt a trouble ticket through R* Support because this certainly isn't an issue for all. .....which means something is wrong in your case

I am OK with butcher prices overall, although the prices being higher would be a great fix. 😜
I am more curious about disappearing animal pelts and carcasses after death, or Fast Travel. Any experiences?
I've had a few situations where I had expected them to disappear but was surprised when they didn't. I died a couple times and still had mine.
Last night was spent hunting and seeing the impact of the change(s) on that. To my delight, there was minimal impact IMO / IME. My usual haul resulted in the usual profit I'm used to receiving,
As time goes on I will be paying more attention in regard to retention of pelts in "after death" scenarios, etc.

Ask about the Heron / spoonbill / egret plumes why you only get one instead of 3 like before... And it wasnt in the update change log was it ? Strange.......
Feel free to do so. I'm simply posting what R* had to say on Twitter regarding the subject of carcasses because some have brought it up.
Submit a trouble ticket through R* Support here:

Essentially what the Major said.
Personally, if I'm trying to farm a 3 star pelt (after finding one using a scope, binoculars, etc.) I like to use a good, powerful rifle and ammo if available just to make sure one shot will do the job. At that point all that is required is a well placed headshot and the deed is done.
I don't try to overthink it. I ride on my horse until I see a heard (from a distance) and then search for a 3 star and go to work. Most times I never even find the need to dismount.

I, too, do not know how to determine the colour of my dot. Does it go hand in hand with one's honour rating? Hope not, I was getting into a lot of fist fights before all the problems hit. LOL
I actually spent a session bringing my honor level back up before the update in anticipation of this.

Regarding inquiries about animal carcass sales after Title Update 1.06 in the Red Dead Online Beta:
QuoteAnimal Carcass Sale Prices after Title Update 1.06
Question: Why am I getting paid less for selling carcasses after Title Update 1.06 in the Red Dead Online Beta?
Answer: Prior to Title Update 1.06 a bug caused sales of skinned animal carcasses to be the same as a whole unskinned animal, despite the animal’s parts having been already harvested. This meant players could skin the animal and sell the carcass and the parts separately to make more than intended. Sales of animals and animal products now pay out correctly; no sell prices of animal parts or whole animals have been changed, only the value of a skinned carcass has been corrected.

Treasure Maps
in Red Dead Online
Posted
Maps have always been relatively rare drops for me from gang hideouts and I've cleared a ton of them. IME, there is nothing in the gameplay after the update to make me suspect that mechanic has changed.
