  1. Depends on what you value more and/or your playstyle.

Personally, I spent my money on long arms but I did buy dual Schofields and modded them.  I went with those simply because I like them but they are also good sidearms.  ....and I stuck with them because frankly, I rarely use handguns in this game.

I bought the Lancaster as soon as it was available and still use it at level 55+.  The other weapon worth purchasing and upgrading IMO is the pump action shotgun.  I eventually switched to the repeater shotgun and but I could have easily stuck with the pump.  A shotgun and good lever action rifle is what I still rely on the most.

I will say that I did buy the Rolling Block rifle and eventually the Springfield which replaced it for big game / long range duty.  I have several other weapons which rarely get used.

still in conversation with R* They are asking deep detail, pretty sure they have no clue. 4 days now. and they have 5 days till they release their upgrade??? someone screwed something up somewhere.

They obviously are interested in trying to rectify the situation.  Not all issues can be easily replicated and require as much detail as they can get their hands on which is why the Support reps are asking so they can pass it along.

Hello virgil we have been finding hodeouts but they just dont register when we finish them.the stranger missions have always been a bit temperemental but 5 days and ive had about 3 or 4 actually start.real bad at the min.just wanted some feedback on the topic.cant load a single mission at all.and i lose all missions on the map like as if im on the mission.but it wont register

Other folks are having the same problem and some have reported that R* has acknowledged the issue and are working on it.

If you haven't already, I would urge you to report the issue through R* Support here:

The update hits next Tuesday so we'll see soon enough if it gets addressed.  Other than that, there is no new news on the topic.

Oh right thought i had to have certain amount of posts and so on then i thought it had to be accepted by the team running the forum.how do i set up please kean

No problem Saffron.  It's available to everyone.

The information is in the original post but here is the link:

    https://www.rdr2.org/forums/clubs/

There is an option to the right to "Start a Posse".  The option to name it, insert as description, platform, etc. is all in there.  Hope this helps.

  5. I bought both and to be honest, I (personally) stick with the repeating shotgun because it holds 6 instead of 5 rounds.

However, they're both effective enough so the only thing IMO is the value.  In that sense, the pump is a better value IMO and the first weapon that is unlocked IIRC.  Given its usefulness, I would recommend folks get it as soon as it's available to them.  .....so with that in mind, the repeater shotgun is a personal choice at that point but not really necessary IMO.

    Also...

I noticed last night that lawmen posse’s seem to have a quicker response time and come in greater numbers now, or was that just me? Anyone else notice this?

With all the weird stuff people have been experiencing lately, it wouldn;'t surprise me if it was due to tweaks they have been making on their end in preparation for the update next week.

  8. Griefers come in all forms.  .....and there are more and more of them cropping up that are low level.

I've been in the same boat where we have had to continually kill a low level player simply because he would not go away.  We report them and block them.  Sometimes it's us that have to eventually leave the session.  Gets old really fast IMO as there is no challenge nor desire to continue.

This may change with the new update however.  With a bounty and NPC posses in the mix, they will likely have their hands full allowing victims to simply move on while they are stuck defending themselves from the law.  Also, I doubt many would welcome a Feud.  The darkening blip and detection won't do them any favors either as I'm sure there are those who are just waiting at the chance to take these griefers out using that new mechanic as a tool to hunt them down.

    @Kean,

In random Posse roaming you never exchange platform info. So PS4 and Xbox players playing together without a problem. So why not in Possegroup?

I thought you meant a posse in the Posse subforum on this website.  I guess I don't understand your point then.

In the game, you are playing with people on your own platform.  In your case, you are only playing with those who also play on XB1s.  RDO is not a cross-platform title.

In other words, no PS4 and XB1 players are not currently playing together in RDO Free Roam or under any other circumstances within the game.  It is currently impossible to do so.  They don't need an exchange of platform info.

  10. I'm going to go ahead and merge both threads on this topic together.

I put in another ticket this morning and they got back to me real quick. They said that they are aware of the situation as many people have put in tickets on this. They are trying to identify the problem and put a fix in.

Thanks for the update Burbon.  That's good news that they are aware of the issue and folks are reporting on it.

    To All,

I would again encourage those who have not reported this issue (if you are encountering it) to please do so.  Even though R* is apparently aware of it, the more people that report it, the better the the chances of a quick resolution.

  11. Back on topic of player traps.....

I had a recent run in with a 100+ lvl player in the town of Tumbleweed.  Two of us rode into town while the other player went about his business.  Neither of us bothered with each other as we went to each store, stable, etc.  When I went to the butcher however and finally exited, he shot at me.  I looked and realized he appeared to be in the building next to the gunsmith.  Since the bldg isn't accessible (AFAIK), I suspected he was on the roof.

His first shot either missed or had no effect but both of us were able to move away from his LOS.  It was then I realized he was glitched inside of the building.  He would try to partially clip through the front door and take shots at us but there was no way to get to him.  I even tried dynamite.

I'm guessing he found a way to glitch into the bldg and then would shoot unsuspecting people from there.  Either way, his exploits were short lived as both my friend and I got a blue screen soon after it all started.

I hope the varmint rifle stays good and accurate for hunting....but I won't be one bit sad if it sucks in PvP.  IMO, It is too OP and should not be able to compete with other rifles.  I've used it to defend myself in free roam and was astonished at how I could easily take down someone from so far away. It made me feel like I was a superstar....but I really wasn't.

They've mentioned that they would bring the accuracy of the Varmint rifle "more in line" with other rifles.  I hope that includes the acquisition time as that is one of the main reasons folks use it beyond its intended purpose.

Lmao. Seems like no one here knows what they want.

....quite the opposite.  I think it's quite clear most just want focus.....a goal for the group based on a common interest.

For me, that is easier to accomplish with smaller groups.  Not that larger groups in sessions haven't been fun, but I seem to get way more accomplished when it's 4 or less without all the farting around.

I feel blessed so far in rdr2 to have met some fun players who i can play hours with and not be bored or annoyed.but starting to realise its harder than i thought to make bigger posse as it can become very stressful.i just want to play for fun and tactics in game.to many players are secret griefers.who slowly show true colours.aint for me at all.i want to play for fun and thats it.

    I hear you.

Seems to me I have more luck in groups of 4 or less.  I've been in a couple groups of 7 and it tends to be chaos.  Folks screwing around and yeah, sometimes one of them griefing another player and getting the rest involved.

May be a stupid question, but is there a problem having different consoles in One Posse-Group?

Because the first question is mostly "what's your system ?".

You can set it up any way you like but to be honest, most are simply looking for those they can play with.   .....and if your posse is "mixed", it may tend to cause confusion or frustration.

I honestly doubt RDO will ever be cross-platform and if it is, that is a looooong way off I reckon.

Is there an actual page where it states what is being updated or how big the actual update file is? I am curious. It isn't that important but I am just wondering.

That link I posted a couple replies ago to the thread contains everything that has been released about the update so far.

There is supposed to be more details announced this week regarding the update for next week.  As to what those details will be, no one knows.

Either way, the update is coming next week so we'll all know soon enough.
