I was heading to blackwater butchers when i got attacked by 2 players on great plains i killed them with dynamite arrow. i rushed to the butcher and i got a notification saying all shops are closed to me because i damaged a players property ie horse. i hope it is not to do with these updates as it is unfair.
The latest update which this thread is about won't be implemented until 2/26/19.

Well they haven't fixed it.
They haven't fixed a lot of things and this is also a beta.
If you haven't heard, there is a title update inbound on 2/26:
I'm not saying this particular issue will be addressed in that TU but there will be updates to help squash some known bugs. .....along with new mechanics being implemented and improved.
-
Well, that could all change when the update comes out later this month. Griefers are going to have to give up doing what they do or change tactics. The more devious among them will certainly find ways but let's hope it's enough to make others rethink what they do.
As it is right now, it's just too easy to grief other players so I think the temptation is there for more players to do it.

What I'm talking about isn't killing urself. I'm talking about staying in ghost so no one can do anything with u, respawning instantly, never leaving the game, in the same spot, still shooting. The game says they died up was giving xp they just dont. Staying in ghost while on horse back n running over folks but no one can shoot them
Several other examples. N they admit to doing it, hacking, n yes they r working the glitches, so fix it already.
Couple things.....
You need to realize this isn't an official Rockstar or Take Two forum so we "can't fix it" even if we wanted to. RDR2.org is a fan site with a community of (you guessed it) fans who share information, discuss the game and help one another.

Also, if you don't tell us in your posts what you are talking about, then it leaves everyone guessing. As they say, help us to help you. .....please take that into consideration when creating a new topic, etc.
Now, there have been several discussions on the topic here and other social media sites as to what causes this with no real clear answer that I could find. Some believe that it's not always an exploit but there has been enough accounts with suspicious behavior to suggest that others are using an exploit to achieve the same thing.
My suggestion? Continue to report the players as you have been doing and also block them using the PSN feature or XB1 if that's your platform. .......btw, completing your profile would also help so folks know information like this.
More importantly. I would also report the incident(s) through R* Support here:
Doing so will create a trouble ticket where a representative will get back to you usually within 24 hours. If this is occurring to you as frequently as you imply, then I would also try and capture footage using the PS/MS tools available to you. This will go a long way to helping R* recognize the issue and do something about it.

What "hacks and glitches" do you speak of exactly?
-
Something else to consider is that there is a known bug where posse invites are not always working. What people have to resort to is changing the setting on their posse to "open" and then having their friend(s) join that way. Unfortunately, if folks are in the queue to "posse up" with randoms, they will auto fill the open spots before their friends can jump in.
As for killing people for that, I think that's uncalled for as it's not their fault but I'm sure that is why some posses are being set to open.
-
Not saying it doesn't happen to you. In fact, I'm not convinced the problem is the same for everyone. I've heard other folks talk about not being paid for other things while the only problem I've ever had was only with pelts.
-
12 hours ago, bblancobrnx said:
The butcher only pays you for the last 3 pelts you stowed on your horse. Try something and you will see...stow 10 of the same exact pelt on your horse and go to butcher and sell them. For example, 10 perfect baby alligator pelts...it will say "sell all $35.00." When you sell them, watch how much he actually pays you for them. If you sell all, you will be actually paid $10.50, but the whole stack will disappear. So, if you go to the butcher with 3 different stacks of pelts, whole stacks can disappear when you sell, but that doesn't mean you are being paid for all the pelts.
That doesn't happen to me either. In fact, it's the stacks I usually get paid for in full. It's the loaner pelts that I usually have a problem with.

Yeah... I’ll have to take my virtual firearms safety more seriously.
It doesn't help that some other actions are tied to the same buttons. I've punched horses, had misfires, etc. and still do.

Something else to consider (and something @Ragee503 brought to our attention last night) was the wording about what exactly the "2XP" entails.
QuotePlaying in a Posse always increases the XP you can earn on Free Roam Missions and Free Roam Events. Posse up this week to earn 2X as much increased XP on these activities, and next week earn 20% more XP across all activities in the Red Dead Online Beta.
So in other words (from what I understand), you are only earning twice as much of the increased amount you normally get when playing with a posse. Now, I don;t know what that normally is but I have played a lot of missions solo and with posses and it's never been a huge difference IME. ....noticeable, yeah but not really groundbreaking. Last night it didn't even seem to make much of a difference.
Personally, I'm more excited about the 20% more XP that is being offered next week on all activities. I think that will make more of a difference.

I just bought a pair of sawn offs... i was riding out of Rhodes, I pulled them out to blast at nothing in particular... and as I’m firing off four shots I notice it’s suddenly right at another guy riding into town at a gallop. He rode on by, so if I hit him at least I didn’t kill him. But oops. I swear I wasn’t trying to kill you LOL. I wonder how many griefers are actually just normal players that just made a goof up like that then went into defensive mode...
I've accidentally shot someone who coincidentally was trying to help me. I let him kill me and said it was unintentional. I also told him to loot the bodies and I left.
I don't know if he heard me as he never spoke a word.
I will say however that if that were me in your scenario getting shot at, I likely would have immediately retaliated. Just the fact that you didn't engage after the mistake should have been enough to show that guy that it was accident though.
After the update mistakes like that are going to cost you.

We've got nearly 60 members in this community now and over 40 in the PSN Community I started. However, I know a lot of you are going it alone.
Don't be afraid to reach out to fellow members in the group. That's why I created this community so that folks could mingle and find other people to join up with in the game. I know it's not easy but eventually you can typically find at least a couple people you get along with and can consistently "TeamUp" with.
I've met up with a few good people from here, a couple that I almost always connect with and others that join us from time to time. Before you know it, you'll meet friends of friends and expand your contact list.
.....so get out there and meet more people!

I would like to know game distances myself. I just got the gold buckle last night for traveling 1889 miles. I've played online since the week it came out and I travel in game a lot. I'm too cheap to fast travel most of the time. I would have thought I would have got that award a lot sooner. I would like to know the distances between towns, how long I'd have to ride the train to get that award etc.
Worse case scenario, we'll at least have an idea how far the mini map's diameter covers once the update hits. We know strangers won't be visible until they are 150 meters out so we can simply do tests with our friends to see when they begin to show up on the radar & map.

Got on last night around 2300 EST, and noticed that the online landing page was different, but I couldn't put my finger on it. They DID add a "Posse Up" option to the first row as there's currently a 2X XP modifier for Posses in Free Roam.
The Showdown series individual options were gone, as were some of the Free Roam location spawn options (there were only three available, along with Free Roam, Posse Up, and the Store). Gun Rush & Gun Rush Teams were available at the time, as was the Showdown Series mixed playlist option.
Curiously enough, I didn't experience the disconnect issues last night after the initial startup one that I have every session.
I thought that "Posse Up" option had always been there and that they simply added the 2X XP icon?
I hope the ability to choose all of the various starting locations is sorted by this evening. This is obviously a new development and I agree with @jnaron_ngc that this may simply be an update and/or testing occurring on their end.

If its anywhere near real life it would be an easy shot for my 270. So lets hope that they will adjust that accordingly. I would like to know how far our radar reaches in meters.
Well, I guess we'll find out when the update launches, eh? We'll have to do some of our own tests to see just how far out shots can be heard, etc. in relation to the mini map. .....to get a sense of it all

Yep also I hope that if you get grieved and choose to feud with the grieve they shouldn't have the option to just ride away. They should have to face you and fight it out for a set time. Other wise no grieves will ever exept the feud and simply run off ! Make them face the music !
We'll have to see how it works when the update is released or maybe it will be revealed in the details next week. I'm guessing it will be an option left to the victim and not the aggressor. Makes no sense otherwise IMO. If not, I'll certainly be submitting feedback to have that option changed as I'm sure many others concerned about griefing will as well.
Of course, that won't stop trolls from simply leaving the session but if they do, then I consider that mission accomplished. ....although it would be nice if the option to rejoin a new session during a feud is suspended so they only have the choice to face retaliation or close the game. I can't see too many griefers wanting to restart the game every time vs. just switching sessions.

Anyone know a way to determine just how far 150 meters is in this game?

I joined to get tips on gameplay mechanics and to just discuss RDR2 in general. I'll try my best to behave, but sometimes I can't help being an opinionated di*k at times, so fair warning and rest assured it's not personal unless I outright tell you it is. And I don't give a crap about Red Dead Online, so I'm not interested in joining any clans, gangs, posses, or whatever else the game calls them.
So, yeah.
Hi Parzival and welcome.
Opinions are fine and input is encouraged. I'll just say however that disrespectful or inflammatory posts are not so please keep that in mind. .......fair warning.

This is a good, welcoming community overall and for the most part people here are able to engage in constructive, opinionated discussions without insults or drama. I think that is why many of us have come here as an alternative to other "not so friendly" social sites.

Another player convinced me to keep the game. I was hoping that it would have been fixed or improved by now. Looks like Feb. 26th? Hopefully the issues will be fixed, Im getting sick of it.
Well, I guess it depends on what exactly you wanted fixed by now as you seemed pretty disappointed with most aspects of the game back then including several mechanics which are simply how it was created. ......in other words, some of those things won't likely ever change as it's baked into the design.
Here is a thread on the topic of the latest incoming update with the info as to what it is supposed to include. There will be more details coming next week before the release.

Also, I don’t like the idea of parley after ONE fight. I would prefer it if it was 2 kills. That’s enough to anti-grief, without the same punishment people feel after 3. (Although, frankly, I don’t mind the 3 we have today).
Unless someone is a griefer, I really don't see a downside. .....and as a victim, you don't have to use the parley function. If you're griefed and want to get back at your attacker you will now have the option to push them into feud and get XP to boot. .....a mini deathmatch of sorts. The other guy won't be able to parley while in a feud. ....or don't choose any option and simply go after your attacker, try to escape, etc.
I would think PvPers interested in fair play would be fine with that. .....trolls, not so much.
What's not fair is subjecting unwilling victims to multiple deaths before giving them a chance to stop the onslaught. One death is plenty IMO. I for one am glad R* is taking these steps to help mitigate the griefing issue.

It could be kept simpler, by simply shooting back. I really need to see it in action. Maybe it is the best way. We will have to wait and see.
It's really pretty simple now to be honest. You just press the triangle button on PS4 to parley. I'm guessing there would simply be two button actions available once you're killed (the usual parley action and one to feud). Currently the available action appears on the bottom right of the screen and there is also a message explaining the option to parley is available.

Thanks but already got a discussion going on about it. It's stickied at the top of the forum.
If it's all the same to you, I'll close this thread as to not break off the discussion between two threads which are essentially ust announcing the update. Please feel free to msg me if you have any questions / concerns.
I appreciate it. Just trying to keep things tidy.

UPDATE: 2/26/19
in Red Dead Online
Posted
Oh, gotcha.
Yeah, never took out a griefer's horse and then had to go directly to a butcher so I wouldn't know any different.
Interesting about the parley notification but again, it's rare that I get rolled enough times for it to pop up for me. Could very well be that they are adjusting things for the upcoming TU.
