  1. I posted some of my thoughts about it in the thread below I created on the topic, but IMO this is no different than what they do with GTAO.  They always offer discounts on certain items, bonuses on missions / goods, freebies, etc.  This helps lure folks back into the online game and keeps regulars playing.

In this particular case with the tonics, this special was implemented on the heels of an announcement of a new section on the Feedback site being added which includes Goods and Supplies.  As they stated:  "Please let us know which Tonics and Provisions you find most helpful, and any other constructive notes for us to consider. The official Red Dead Online Feedback website has now been updated with dedicated sections for Goods and Supplies: https://reddeadonline.com/feedback"

  2. Welcome Jacob.

I guess as long as your anger isn't misdirected at your fellow community members, I'd say your condition shouldn't be a problem here.  :) We're a generally friendly group of folks.

NOW LET'S START TO BLOW THIS FORUM UP BY COMMENTING AND POSTING AND REPOSTING UNTIL WE GET ROCKSTAR GAMES ATTENTION AND THEN THEY WOULD HAVE TO DO A LOT OF EXPLAINING TO DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I for one am one of the pissed off gamer that wasn't fully impressed with red dead 2 even though it sold over a million copies I feel  BOTH TAKE TWO AND ROCKSTAR AR LYING AND WITHOLDING INFORMATION PERTAINING TO Red Dead , and I have played enough games to relize when there was someting cut out of the game because this game does not make no sense. Turns out ROCKSTAR'S ORIGINAL PLAN WAS TO HAVE ARTHUR MORGAN LIVE and have the players choose options but a lot of those options were already made and were terrible decisions!

Let's not and say we did......

This is a fan site, not an official forum of R*.  ......but feel free doing this on R*s feedback site if you wish:

I was a huge the division fan and player. Although I have to say Anthem will be my next purchase. It has me in awww just watching the trailer. Not to cut rdr2 short as I will stay here if they start releasing content soon !

Yeah, I'm in no way going to dump RDO2 just because I play another game. I've been doing it since RDOs release anyhow.

TD2 will simply be a game I play with certain friends and RDO with others.

Anthem looks cool but simply isn't my kind of game unfortunately. Heck, I was almost going to give TD2 a pass for a while before a couple friends said they were getting it upon release.

For my kind of MP shooter, I'm really just waiting for Insurgency Sandstorm.

  5. Just finished playing a couple hours of coop in TD2. I like what they've done. More of the same which isn't necessarily a bad thing but also improved. Also like the damage model much better with the lower TTK, slow heals, etc. I think it was a good decision on their part.

    Oh LOL,

Then the dynamite was cool, my point being that we were attacked with a posse with a level 150 griever up against people of much smaller level isn't even close to fair fight.  Playground bullying at its finest.  What kind of matchmaking does R* use on these servers.  There should be level limits for pvp so at least its somewhat fair.

Yeah, no joke. There really is no sort of matchmaking on that level which is why we really need some sort of balance. I just hope the changes in the next title update will help in that regard.

    I thanks guys 👍

Yeah I checked the shelves but there's only polamade to slick your hair back.

So paid a visit to the barbers and brought me a nice big beard and got a new hair style while while I was there 😉

The good news is that since the campaign had this mechanic perhaps it will find it's way to RDO as well.  IMO, it would benefit everyone since it would enhance the depth of the gameplay and also legitimize the need for barbers in the gameworld beyond simply choosing styles.  Could also be another GB opportunity for R* to sell more unique styles, etc. since traffic to those merchants would increase.

I'm was heading towards Blackwater earlier and it came up about another posse has started a mission etc. She rode past me on the wagon. I just carried on trotting along in my own little bubble. She stopped turned round and shot me. I just thought wtf. It's just pointless at times.

Should've given them a wider berth to be honest.  Probably thought you were playing it casual on purpose and felt you might attack from the rear.  I know I would have.

Whenever I see someone on a mission like that, I quickly remove myself from the area for both my own protection and as a sign to them that I am not a threat.  On the flip side, I will do my best to avoid others while trying to complete a mission but I will tend to take to make the first move if I'm vulnerable and feel someone is too close for comfort.  Been burned too many times to give randoms the benefit of the doubt anymore.

That is way I feel also. Normally I watch them approach and then just leave session, go do something in rl, then come back in 10 min or so and by then they are gone and I can continue what I was doing.  The problem is the loss of stuff on horse.  I don't keep that many pelts and carcass because I usually get shot by time I make it to market so why reward the a$$ hole.

Last night I was fishing with a friend and having good time way off on our own.  Then come these 3 clowns from across the map straight at us.  As I look at the players I see a leader of 150 and 2 buddies of 30 and 18.  The leader sets off dynamite Im assuming to kill our horses that had some good pelts so we loose them.  As I went to the player menu to block all 3 players I was killed 3 times by time got it done.  Must have been a real man to beat up 2 low level players till they leave game. R* needs to do something about this.  Who the hell thinks that people should pay real money to continue this circus full of clowns.

Actually, that dynamite was me (sorry, didn't tell you).  :)  I was trying to get him off of that cliff.

Yeah, I stood there the last two times he killed me with my guns holstered to show him how unamused I was.  ......I was also doing the same thing (blocking and reporting each one).  Unfortunately, as soon as you parley with one in a posse of griefers, the rest come in.  ......big problem right there in the whole parley design.

Anyhow, you didn't see this after you left but they went up North and griefed another posse of two until those guys left.  I was hanging out in the train station and then made a bee line for the town to sell my stuff before I logged off.

It was available at 4AM here today, and I just didn't have the energy to get up that early--plus, the CPAP puts me out cold to the point that you could probably have a gunfight in my bedroom and I would sleep through it.

But I did flirt with the idea of calling off work...

I'm semi-retired but even though I'm at home I still can't bring myself to game during the day.  Not that I never do but I guess it just makes me feel weird if I'm not doing other things with my time during the day.  Took a year just to get used to the whole "not working" thing.

I preordered The Division 2 a LOOOOOOONG time ago, and will be playing the beta after work today (and through the weekend).

Pre-ordered D2 a couple days ago and downloading the beta for D2 now.  Probably be on tonight as well and some of the weekend.

They're most likely using multi-lingual Boolean modifiers to scan for inappropriate names.  If what you're saying is accurate (the limitations of my Espanol are "Donde esta el bano" and "Un cerveza, por favor"), then the double whammy of the "marica" and the "rica" being slang for "sexy" probably got it on the list.

I imagine anything with "sex" or a derivation of it will be flagged in English.  Which is hilarious for an "M" rated game, but whatever floats their proverbial boat.  I had a great name picked out for my horse, but the profanity filter picked it up right away.

I noticed this last night and got a number of tonics stocked. I am going to work on clearing out my inventory to get some more. I hope they do sales like this on other items in the future.

I'm sure they will.  It seems to be a successful formula for them in GTAO to have these periods of special discounts, weekly/weekend giveaways, etc.

I also don't think it's simply coincidence that this special on tonics was at the same time they announced a change to their RDO Feedback site:

R* CS just replied Report him in the Player menu.

Opening a support ticket won't do anything. That for reporting bugs and help with things you can't figure out, etc.  The issue is in the game's design.

Either way, you've gone the Support route now I would suggest you use their feedback page....

I've said this a million times before but I think it bears repeating.....

I hope you folks are reporting these concerns to R* via their feedback page. Here's the link for those who may not know.  Please, please, please submit your feedback to them.  It's the only option we have open to us for the possibility of affecting change in RDO during its development.

I like doing the missions but encounter more and more players that are only in it to do the entire thing by themselves and scoop all the kills. They don't follow the NPC's instructions and they usually hightail it straight for the "good stuff" right off the start...sometimes heading in the complete opposite direction. I've completed them all now and I'm simply doing it for the xp and fun...but man, I'd hate to be the unlucky souls who are trying these for the first time. Ruins the fun.

I think R* should fix this by ensuring that all players must stay within a certain proximity of the lead NPC and/or the coordinates on the radar.

This kind of stuff bothers me way more than griefer! I can kill griefers...I can't kill these guys.

Any ideas on how to deal with this if I see someone doing it at the start of a mission?

Submit your feedback to R* about this issue.  I hate the fact that there is no way to simply do the story missions with just 1-2 friends without the system trying to throw randoms in the mix.

@Kean_1 the Posse recruitment page has posses with background pictures and descriptions. I was referring to that but I think the problem maybe just me not seeing a particular create button

There's an image icon that if you click it will allow you to change the background picture. It's referred to as the posse icon I believe. I just checked it on mine I am able to change it this way.

@Lonestar and I'm interested in learning what I need to do to create one of those fancy schmancy posse recruitment ads for Aces & Eights (?) I can join aposse, I just can't seem to create one for my own.  Thank you.

Which ads do you speak of.  Are you talking about the link to your posse that I added to Yoda's post in your posse thread.  If so, that's just a link.  If you copy and paste the address, it will automatically show up like that.  I'd post an example here but I don't want to derail the thread,

I could have just used the English 'Mary Carmen' but it just wouldn't be the same. So I went with something else ('Schwabble'). I guess, like others, it's surprising Rockstar don't let people name horses whatever they want, at least in Story Mode.

It's all automated and really depends on what their filters are picking up.  Sometimes it makes no sense but as people become more creative, I guess companies do too in how they block such things.

......funny, seems two threads may have been merged by one of my compadres.  Threw me off there for a second as it wasn't the OP in this thread I was responding to.  If it were, I would be giving the same advice as our friend Truth.  ;)

People did use them during this time period. I don't think it was as common but they have been around for a long, long time.

I would imagine that Rockstar will add them in eventually.

By the late 19th century?  Sure, some folks had them and perhaps even used them for practical purposes in some very limited examples but I doubt most would have even seen them as a feasible option during this period.  Even as advanced as modern crossbows are today they are mainly used for sport.  Firearms are simply more practical for self defense, work, hunting, war, doing bad guy stuff, law enforcement, etc.

  20. Feasible in the sensible, realistic and/or practical sense?  .....I would say no.  I am sure crossbows existed and perhaps were even manufactured but we're likely talking about unique circumstances.  Firearms were simply more effective. Even Native Americans began to adopt them as they became more effective than their bows.

As for the game, I think it would still be a little too quirky for RDO but that's just me.

I too was ready for the Beta, but I also know that if players consider it acceptable process, then in the future this is what we can expect everytime.    It doesn't change the fact that it has been stated that they started the process back in 2010.  That means it's been 9 years and they keep telling the players more is coming.  Just be patient and wait.

Well, it's not as if they spent all those years doing nothing.  We have RDR2 which is the meat of what this franchise means to many fans.  .....and while it may seem like a no-brainer, no one even knew for sure if RDR2 would have an online component until they announced later that they would.

If you look at it another way, maybe R* didn't want to come out with a completed online component and rather chose to have their community help them through development with their ideas, suggestions and feedback?   ....through lessons learned from GTAO.  This was something else they touched on and one of the reasons they set up the RDO Feedback website.

    https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=f2e50892

....but as I've always said, I'd rather take a wait and see approach than dwell in negative conjecture.

That goes back to my earlier comments, would you buy a car that you knew wasn't going to work right and told they will fix it.  Yet you are expected to continue making payments or buy the car out right?  Or a house even?  I wan the game done right, but they are given no signs of being fixed or being right.  Yet we are suppose to keep playing along as if no issues.

I purposely skipped those comments because in truth, they are bad analogies.  Spending tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars on prototype vehicles and unfinished homes is a lot different than spending $60 on a game.  .....a game I might add that did have a complete campaign.  It's just the online component that is still in development.

....but again, nothing else was promised to those who bought the game.

53 minutes ago, YodaMan 3D said:

For some players they may have an issue and when they complain, another states it's a non-issue.  Their game is just fine.   So what we find to be acceptable start becoming an issue cause players are just happy to have a game and will say anything just to keep playing.  Meanwhile others expect it to be perfect.  To me when they decided it was time for micro-transactions, to me that means they are collecting money the game must be fully up and going.

Well, that's all personal perspective and opinion though.  I don't know what you want to do about that.  I know nothing I say here will change your mind about R*, the direction of RDO, etc.  What I do know that I am not dismissive of problems others report when I don't have them and in fact have been quite supportive.  I can't control what others may say on those subjects.

As for MTXs, I never saw the issue as I have never purchased such things in games and I doubt I ever will in RDO.  I would get into the whole reason I think R* made the decision to put the system in place at this early stage but I know it will make no difference.

I will say that if I felt this negative about a company or product, I wouldn't have made the purchase to begin with or I would have shelved the game last year after I completed the campaign.  ......but that's just me.

  22. 30 minutes ago, YodaMan 3D said:

When you buy a car, are you willing to wait a year for them to get it to start.  When you buy a house, are you willing to wait a year for them to add the foundation, walls and roof plus the other things that make it so you can live there.  To me if I offer my money up front, it's called a pre-order.  They can have it fixed and up in running.  It shouldn't be the after thought after they released it.  I personally not waiting a year for a Beta to get fixed.  They had 9 years, they should have planned better and been better organized.

In all fairness, R* was up front about RDO being a beta and when that beta period would start and that more news would come later.  ....this was prior to RDR2s release.

I preordered RDR2 too but went into it knowing full well that RDO would not be a finished product and with no expectations on when the final release would come.  Everything else was pure speculation.  Before RDOs release they provided additional details which included news that it would continue over the course of "months".

However, I had expected that "fixes "would be coming more frequently than they had given what they had stated in one of their earlier status updates.
