I'm pretty tired of this. Spending hours hunting, I've got all kinds of pelts on my horse, then on the way to the butcher some random player or perhaps NPC gang will come along, I get killed, respawn and BOOM! all my horse stowed pelts are now gone. Hours of hunting down the drain.

Not exactly sure how it's supposed to work but I'll give you an example of an instance last night where I was killed and didn't lose my pelts...

It was late and I wanted to turn in my skins (including a big game one) to the butcher. I was already close to Valentine when I noticed a posse of two in town. I knew better since the leader was at the butcher but his indicator was full brightness suggesting they were not engaged with the merchant.

Anyhow, I rode up to the butcher and was promptly engaged by the troll. He was waiting to ambush anyone who was there to trade. Unfortunately for him, here got a face full of buckshot.

Against better judgement I tried to hurry up any get in the merchant menu but was stabbed by his posse mate.

When I respawned, I called my horse and saw all the pelts were still there. I killed the guy that stabbed me and the leader as he tried to run toward us.

These griefers were not any good at what they do and I later noticed they were only level 11. ....I'm level 42 and my friend is a few ranks higher. They were easily dispatched.

Anyhow, I decided to ride down to Rhodes and leave these guys to do whatever trollish things they do in Valentine. I got my money for all of my goods, we did some bird hunting and signed off. ......but not without blocking their profiles first.

btw, if I didn't have goods that I was worried about losing and was either solo or with one of my more aggressive mates, I would have stayed to reverse grief these guys until they left the session. ....instead of just killing them a couple times.

Fair enough, maybe so. If it's a big deal, I'm sure a moderator can move the thread to the right place.

You're right, it isn't a big deal.  ....and certainly nothing you should get grief over IMO. I'll move it now.

Welcome to the forums btw. It's good to have you here.

Think this will be a possibility when Ranches become available for purchase ( I assume at some point they will )?

Folks digging around in files found placeholders for properties numbered 1 through 10 with this format:

    Quote

    Property No. 1
    Price: $1000 [placeholder]
    Description: Lorem ipsum … [placeholder]

This was back in October 2018.  There were also similar placeholders for various types of wagons, etc.  ....so, this could be a possible sign of things to come that they are planning.

On ps4 you have to push square to enable matchmaking. Simply have all posse members ready up ,if random gets in push left on thumb pad to view players , select random and vote to kick. All members must vote quickly. Hope this helps.

....so I guess there is no option to disable then.  I know there is an option to vote kick and we've always tried to ready up as soon as possible but seems like a real crappy way to do it (e.g. kicking players).

Thanks for the info though.  I guess I'll submit this to R* as another feedback item.

Hey bro when holding L1 on ps4 to choose weapons , select the weapon you want , the ammo is represented by small circles on lower middle of screen.  Pushing right on thumb pad will cycle through various ammos you can carry and how many. Happy shooting.

Good call but he's asking about craftable ammo.  Could be out of curiosity for defensive purposes and/or maybe hasn't attained the level yet, etc.

I recall hearing that explosive ammo is limited to something around 10 rounds per weapon.  Can't say the same for split ammo, etc.

You don't have to matchmake.  You can do the mission with as many as you want.

I haven't experienced players killing themselves but have had players start tossing dynamite and do their best to sabotage the mission.  Wierd part is they seem to have an endless supply of dyanmite.

Yeah but my question is how. There doesn't seem to be an option that allows me a choice.

why can.t a few of the clowns in this let me play the game i paid for, the way i would like to. I am 69 yrs old 100% disabled and can not be passive and hunt animals with out being killed all the time? i sure hope the complaint boards work.

    Hi Goober,

First of all, welcome.  This site is a wealth of information and generally speaking, the community is a great group of folks.  Please note however, that this is a fan site and not a Rockstar official forum.  If you wish to provide feedback on the beta (and I encourage you to), here is a link:

    https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=f2e50892

There is also a lot of information at RDR2.org that can help you overcome the issue some have with what we call griefers and trolls.  I would also recommend trying to seek out online friends who you share similar interests with so you can explore and do activities with a group vs. solo.  RDO is much more rewarding that way and safer with the added security a posse provides.

If you're on PS4, feel free to join ours (my PSN Community is linked within):

Please note that R* has also announced new anti-griefing measures that they will be impletning soon that will hopefully mitigate the issue:

    Hope this helps.

  8. Is there any way to join a game with just a party of 2-3 of your friends in a posse? A way to block randoms from joining?

I always see the missions require 2-4 players but then there is no way (that I know of) to only play with 2 -3 players if you want to.

That is my understanding also that’s why it would be nice to hear r* to say it.

Yeah.....   Basically, the only official news we so far have is what they've released in their Newswire.  ....although that info from what was mined from the app seems to have merit.

Pure assumption on my part but I'll wager the private session options will come later in the beta or perhaps final release.  In the meantime, it makes sense to me that they would continue to keep everyone Free Roam for simplicity and while they still test the stability of sessions, etc. There is obviously still problems in that regard in RDO.  ......and if they were planning to include invite-only options sooner rather than later, I would guess it would have been part of the "coming soon" list they just published recently but who knows.

They could at least make announcement of whether or not they are going to add private sessions. You can’t tell me that there hasn’t been any interest.

The only information I have heard that might indicate the introduction of invite-only sessions down the road was what was uncovered by data miners back in October last year from the companion app:

    Quote

    _ZN11uiBootstrap27InitializeForRockstarEditorEv
    PARAM_netScPrivateSession    0000000002B9A950
    PARAM_netScSeamlessPvE    0000000002BEA8AC

Beyond that (and even with that), it's all speculation unless I've missed some other official news.

  11. No harm in stepping away between updates.  I may do the same at some point.  I'm currently playing 2 additional games as it is anyhow and more are coming.  ....but I'll likely still be diving into RDO.  Hell, I still play GTA from time to time.

I'll only do that tactic when the city is practically empty.

Me too.  I don't try to bother anyone although we did have a player run into town last night and directly attempt to kill us (made a bee line for our position), so we returned the favor  ......several times until he went about his business.

That is the main reason I don't choose to do this in large towns or those frequented by players.  I enjoy it because it's one more thing to help break the monotony of the same old missions, etc.  .....and I'm not griefing other players in the process.

  13. There is much more to come.  I would suggest reading through the Beta Updates on R*s Newswire site if you want to catch up on all the news that has so far been shared with the community:

    https://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/tags/716

Just remember that RDO is a work in progress and still in development.  It's not the same as other console games folks may be used to where betas are mainly to help market the game and stress test servers.  ....with few (if any) changes made by release a couple weeks or so later.

Just wondering if r* has implemented any of there griever balancing yet and if so how is it working? I haven’t been playing online since the announcement.  The current state of this sht show isn’t any fun in my book. I don’t do pvp I suck at it. Just curious if it is working.

    In answer to your question.....

No, R* hasn't yet implemented the new anti-griefing measures they discussed (e.g. proximity based blips, new bounty system, etc.).

I agree with Yoda though.  .....you shouldn't let the threat of griefers discourage you from playing RDO.  Also, trolling is not the same here as it is in GTA.  You can usually see them coming especially if you use the phone app.

I would encourage you to find a group of players to team up with.  It's a lot more fun and griefers are not as much of a nuisance.

Isn't this topic on wrong board? Should be in the Story Board.

The OPs post applies to RDO so unless he picked the wrong sub forum, I am assuming he is talking about online.

I've seen a lot of players doing the Saint Denis shootout with NPCs.  There is no doubt about it that it will rack up XP quite quickly and if you use special ammo (e.g. Express), that will also net you additional points (+5 each IIRC).

Personally, I prefer to choose locations that are less frequented by other players but I find the shootout and defense aspect a fun way to break up the monotony at times.  As you kill NPCs, the law will follow.  This is all part of the game.

Having said that, this will all likely change when they introduce the new bounty system and especially the proximity and color-changing blip indicators.   .....but that will depend if or how it applies to NPCs.
