I get random disconnects from time to time but nothing close to what you describe. Maybe once in a session if at all.

I am fine with PVP servers so long as people act respectively. This is hard to accomplish though when you have a game being played by 10 to 60-year-olds who all have different opinions on things and ways of playing. I got shot at the other day simply for not moving out of the way when someone was hunting. I was killed and lost a lot of stuff. Without warning I just hear someone say "fine don't move, I'll just kill you!" like how am I suppose to know I am in the way of something?
I take it you were in a posse with randoms? ......one reason I don't play with randoms.

I used to have that issue but not for quite some time. All of the sessions I've been in have been populated with plenty of animals. Now, if we're talking about side missions, those sometimes disappear and have been as long as I can remember. They will either reappear on their own or after I force a respawn, join a new session, etc.

Same! I have a hard time going up against people who have years of experience in PVP games. When all was said and done, I just end up with less supplies and money.
I don't know if I mentioned it here but there was this dude who was lvl 140+ that was simply dominating every event. He was MVP in nearly every one of the matches and took headshots after rolling/dancing around with ease. ....part of the other reason I don't like the PvP in RDO is that I'm not particularly impressed with the gunplay in R* games (e.g. strong auto aim, dives/rolls, high ttk, etc.). In PvE it's fine because it's more about the overall experience IMO.
-
I have the same issue but it only seems to be with pelts. Some pelts I will not get paid for and nothing happens when you click on them. You just have to move on to the next items and then they disappear.
I would suggest reporting this to R* if you haven't already.

Although I wasn't in a mission, I had an issue once where I tried to get on my horse and it wouldn't respond. I hopped off and forget what I did, but after I jumped back on, all was fine.
I also had a side mission yesterday where I recovered a wagon. When I arrived at the destination, I was frozen in the cropped widescreen but the missions would not state that it ended. I could still walk around shoot my equipped weapon but not much else. .....I even killed a cow.
Funny, I can't remember what I did but I was able to break the freeze and the mission ended and all was well after a couple minutes.

I've had this phone for a couple of months now. It's my first real foray into the smartphone world after resisting it for as long as I could. I didn't want a brand new wicked expensive phone. Figured an older cheaper model would do me just fine and it has. Just sucks that it's harder to run newer stuff with it.
Yeah, it sucks that they require one of latest OS's for their app to run.
I would kept my old phone if you wasn't for the battery acting up. I still will keep it as a backup after I replace the battery myself. I just didn't want to attempt it and then break something leaving me without a device.
Also, I got a great deal on my new, unlocked phone through Amazon. $120 less than it was on Verizon plus a 2000 mAh battery mod for free ($40 value). ....it's a Moto Z3 where you can attach mods to the back of it (magnetized). I stopped paying for phones on plans long ago.

I'm pissed because I went to download the app and it says my device isn't compatible with the app. I have a Galaxy J7.
I had the same problem with my old Android phone. The OS was too old.
Turns out however that I bought a new phone since my old battery was finally acting up after 4 years. Now I can run the RDR2 app.
Makes a big difference now when playing.

As we've seen from the latest update and even forthcoming content, Rockstar doesn't seem to put anti griefing at the forefront of their priorities, at least not in the beta. The upcoming changes mentioned don't seem to be what I was hoping for but there's no real way to know if their implementation will really affect griefing until they are actually implemented. At this point, I'm kind of hoping some other devs or company have been paying attention and pull a Fortnite move--but then allow PvE in their game.
The near future updates that are coming are mostly aimed at helping mitigate the issue of griefing / gameplay balance. They will include Parley changes, a new bounty system, proximity based blips and blips that change color / increase range on griefers. As for how these will play out, I agree that we'll just have to see. .....but personally, I wouldn't say R* isn't making anti-griefing a priority.
7 hours ago, Netnow66 said:If the PSN block works, that might be one way to address part of the issue in Red Dead 2 online. A few lists of known griefers to add to block lists might not be much but it would be more than what Rockstar is offering at this point.
Can anyone else verify if this works?
I can't say for sure if it works but I have blocked a lot of people. .....I mean a lot. I also do what I call proactive blocks against players in a session where I will sometimes observe their actions or even lock them based on their honor level in posses and/or gamertags, descriptions in profiles, etc.
I will say that I have yet to run into someone in a session that I have already tried to block. .....don't know if that means anything given statistics but I'm going to keep doing it until I discover otherwise.
I also will report trolls in-game for disruptive behavior when appropriate.
I think I'll send a message to Sony to see what they say. IIRC, blocked players are also supposed to be blocked from the sessions you join.

Cool, thanks.

Yes the mode is fun, but it is not what i think most of us wanted.
I know it's not what I wanted (I'm a PvE / co-op kind of guy), but we're not privy to the stats and information R* has from feedback they receive.
Right, wrong or indifferent, BR is the hot ticket right now and what people want. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a hotly requested item R* received feedback on through their site. We also don't know how many people play the PvP events vs. Free Roam which could affect R*'s choice in what they prioritized this year.
QuoteThere are so many more important things that needs fixing or be added, like the horse bug, the saint denis exploid, gambling, butchers up north, no penalty for griefers, private sess, free aim sess and the list goes on.
Even as a 36 year old man, this update made me feel like a kid on christmas, who just got a sweater instead of that great new toy.
Anti-griefing measures are part of what R* announced as coming "soon" (listed below) but it appears additional missions and content will be later:
QuoteDaily Challenges: Tackle new challenges each day covering every aspect of the game, from sharpshooting to evading the law.
Law and Bounty Upgrades: Some changes are coming to the way the Law and Bounty systems work in Red Dead Online to reduce the enticements for griefing. Soon, players will get a bounty for committing crimes and will be incentivized to pay them off within an allotted time. Wait too long and bounty hunters from each of the states will track the player forcing them to either pay up or escape.
Parley Changes: We’re making the Parley system easier to trigger so that you can avoid aggressive players more quickly. In addition, it will be easier to trigger Feuds, Posse Feuds and Leader Feuds to take on attacking players in structured competition.
Proximity-Based Player Blips: Player location blips will soon appear only over short distances, reducing the range at which you are visible to others, decreasing the likelihood of being targeted by another player across large areas. Down the line, we’re also looking to introduce the ability to identify players who grief and kill indiscriminately with a progressively darkening blip that becomes more visible and at a longer range, so everyone in a session can identify potentially dangerous opponents at a glance and from a safe distance.
Either way, you folks need to make sure you submit your feedback regarding bugs, suggestions, wants, complaints, etc. on their site otherwise all of this discussion is for naught:
https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=addb2b0b
The more of us that request more PvE content, bug fixes, etc., the more likely these become priorities for R*. Just look at griefing. People complained through their feedback site and R* listened. How that will play out is another matter but at least it's acknowledged and they are making moves toward doing something about it.

That's just how I roll when I play online anyways, including NPCs. I white-hatted the story mode, but I'm going to be blacker than Vader online.
Me too when dealing with trolls. ......but it's out of spite more than anything. .....and when I want to make a quick get away.

Had this happen to me with a troll last night who was tracking me. I finally had enough, stopped and then killed him. .....and his horse. I put a lot of distance between him and myself but he kept coming from a distance (slowly but surely likely to make me feel as though there was no threat). I was about ready to log off for the night anyhow so I led him along for while and made him think I didn't notice. He made a final sprint toward my location and then I logged out.
I love the phone app btw. You can see these trolls coming from a mile away without having to open the big map on the screen.

Yea, that sounds about right. Would would think that before they ban someone they would look to see if the accused has a report against the accuser.
I don't even know if they are privy to the information since it goes to R*. .....but depending on what was in the message, that alone could have warranted action regardless.
I understand the OPs frustration and hate to see him banned for voicing his disapproval to them, but messaging the troll was a big mistake.

No sorry there wasn't a leak I was going off of the comment that we will be in beta for a couple more months. Just an assumption on my part.
Ahhh, ok. .....it was "several" months btw.
We could be looking well past March until RDO is final. I suspect a lot will depend on what issues they encounter as they begin to roll out new components to the game.

This has been one of my favorite sites and the community in general here has been great. .....so when I was asked, I figured I wouldn't mind pitching in a bit where I can help.
3 hours ago, madfretter said:Gotcha. typical toolbag. He probably lied and said you were sending offensive msgs or said offensive stuff in chat, Did you get rdr banned or xbox banned? You should have gotten an email saying what the ban was for.
It was an MS ban to this Live account. I suspect the response the instigator received from the OP may have been a little heated and that was enough for MS to act. They are only seeing one side of the story since they don't see the reports made with the in-game reporting tool. ....just the reaction in MS messaging.

Sadly it looks like around March now if at all. Too bad could be a good game.
Was there a leaked about the March timeframe? AFAIK there hasn't been any hard dates sets for upcoming updates yet and no mention so far of invite-only sessions (sadly). Only "coming soon" features/changes and "more to come this year" with some specific and not so specific mentions.
I have the same rule to gaming. .....if it ain't fun, it ain't worth playing. We all have enough drama and angst in life. I play games to relax.

I didn't notice any issues last night while playing solo. I was able to cook, do side missions, etc. As for game crashes, that has been happening for myself and my friends randomly since early on in the beta.
I would urge anyone expereincing glitches to report your problem to R*. This is a fan site and while it's great to discuss things here, this will never find its way to R* unless people report it directly to them.
Here is the link to report feedback, etc.:
https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=addb2b0b
Here is a shortcut to reporting bugs / technical issues which will prompt a response from Customer Service:
They may not have a solution but they will normally tell you if it's a known issue or not that they are working on. ......and the more people that report, them more they will pay attention to the problem as being wide scale.

I hate that you can't purchase special ammo like Express or high velocity bullets in the show down series or story mission screens. You can only buy regular ammo.
How do you buy ammo while in the showdown series btw?

Bummer man. I've heard about others being roped while in camp with the white flag up. Luckily, I've never had the pleasure.
I hope you sent feedback to R* about this bug. I'm sure others have reported it as well.

I was resting by my campfire when some Bum-of-a-Stitch LASSOED ME, dragged me, and then was bouncing up and down on me. As soon as I cut loose I'm lassoed again and this process repeated five or six times until finally I hit the DIE button. I reported the player as a griefer. I was so angry I didn't have the presence of mind to take a recording of it to share here
.....so, was your white flag raised or not?

-
R* spelled out several specific ways that they are looking to help mitigate the griefing issue in future updates.
Your first mistake was messaging the troll. I'm assuming you said something that violated MS policy which is why MS banned you for 3 days (second mistake). R*'s report feature in the game is a different story and isn't related to your ban. I doubt it would have even led to a ban of the player you had the problem with but I still believe it's important to report disruptive behavior.
In the future I would suggest you report the player(s) and then block them if you are able. I know you can do it on PS4 but I'm unsure how that works on XB1. I'd also suggest refraining from any contact. At that point you will look like the one who is doing the harassing especially if you use colorful or intimidating language.
If someone is bothering you for that long, join another session once you report/block them.
EDIT: btw, I closed the other duplicate thread I believe you may have created by accident in this forum.

That's hilarious report them ? You telling on Rockstar or Sony that outlaws are killing you heheh he dragged me a mile with his lasso I was just fishing minding my own business lol. Nobody likes a tattle tale and snitches get stitches 😛
The feature is included by R*'s and is in the report menu. Disruptive behavior is specifically included. Griefing is also one of R*'s biggest subjects of feedback they have received and they will be introducing anti-griefing measures as a result. ....so yes, of course I would encourage folks to make their voice heard by sending feedback, reporting trollish behavior and blocking abusive players.
R* created RDO as a PvE and PvP experience (not PvP only). R* is also interested in taking a balanced approach to RDO which is all that really matters in my book.

Kinda like the surprise I got when I found out some of the PvP events used some of my own ammo / resources. Since I suck at PvP, it really wasn't worth the cost to participate. lol

PSA: Red Dead Redemption 2 Pre-Order Bonuses No Longer Free On PS4
in Red Dead Online

Personally, I would suggest folks hold off on recreating their character until the option is offered to do so without losing progress. ....like in GTA.
