Some folk on other forums are saying they are downloading right now... No official news I can find.

Interesting. I'll keep an eye out this morning. The last update was on the server side of things so nothing to download. Maybe this one is different.

  2. No news as of yet. I follow a couple of R* sources on Twitter (including R* themselves) and always see the notifications of such things there before anywhere else.  .....and there is no mention of this week's update yet.

Go to their profile and hit report.

You can't report what is allowed in the game by design and unfortunately, the way R* set up their online experience, trolling is perfectly acceptable.  On the other hand I have reported players for vulgar, verbal threats and racist remarks.  .....and I would encourage others too as well.

I noticed a massive increase of them just over the last week of playing. Sometimes I will hop on a server and just be targeting at all times making it impossible to enjoy aspects like hunting. How do you all handle these players?

I usually choose an area like Ambarino to spawn in.  I will immediately crouch when I arrive, ready my weapon, move (while crouched) to cover, look at my minimap for other players and then the big map if there is no immediate threat.   I will observe other players / posses to see what they are doing on the map and take note of those who appear to be trolls or active in PvP engagements.  I then call in my horse and make a plan of where I want to go and the things I plan to do.

When solo, I simply plan my routes around other players.  ....especially any of those I noticed were engaged in combat with other players.  I also look for areas on the map that are mostly empty.  I always keep an eye on my minimap and as soon as I see a pink dot, I open the big map to see where they are and get an idea of what they are doing.  I adjust my route as needed.

When hunting, I will usually plan a route to a vacant town (with a butcher) and then hunt along the way.  However, I'm also flexible as some destinations can become active during the time it takes to get there.  In those cases, I simply select another that isn't.

To be honest, it is rare that I am attacked when playing alone and it will typically happen as I spawn in (depending on where I choose).

In gta try hards would kill themselves to avoid dying from a player.

They already do it in RDR2 too   I've also sent a few trolls packing after they got a taste of their own medicine.  I go to add them to my block list and discover their gone.  .....only had a couple hit and runs though.  Most will keep up the fight once they had a taste for blood.  ......but while they can dish it out, they usually can't take it.

I have also quit sessions to deny trolls the satisfaction.

Thats odd. Im making less on hunting trips. I used to make a good 70 bucks per trip now i get about 40. It seems they reduced the bird spawns and i noticed some feathers got a couple dollars knocked off its selling price.

Its weird.  I had a couple sessions early one where it seems hardly any animals would spawn but after that, I never have an issue.  I even have flock of birds that fly over (I'll take out 3-4 at a time in those case.  When I encounter herds of animals, I will sometimes forego the identification of 3 star pelts and just mow as many down as I can.  ......going for quantity over quality.  This is easy to do with boar.

I never pay attention to the value of the things I'm selling just that I got a lot of it when I do.

btw, have you ever noticed when selling some items that you don't get money for them?  In those cases I will select the item to sell but then it doesn't do anything.  If I roll back over the item it will show 0 qty.  Eventually it disappears but I won't get any money for it.  This has happened to me a few times.

  6. The missions I did were paying out more than they used to but they are still too low IMO.  On the other hand, I am making more on hunting trips than I used to.  I just find a butcher in a town without player activity and start killing animals of opportunity.

I think you'll still have your camp choosing a different spot with new sessions. Pretty sure it still picks random spots when you re-log. Theres probably just a handful of locations in each county for camps, and if everyone is selecting the same one, it'll put yours to a different one.

I just wish the different one it chooses is the closest one to your choice that is available. I've had it where I ask for it to be in Cholla Springs and it puts it in Bayou Nwa, and theres no way every campsite in between is occupied.

I was in a posse where I was trying to set up camp in the region we were in.  When it kept choosing different regions, my friend created a new posse and then he was able to choose the a camp in the region we were in.

I have both the Garand and a original SOCOM16.  The M1A makes it to the range more, but the Garand is a sentimental favorite. Original M2 ball is a little more sparse than the 7.62x51(.308). The weight is definatly noticeable, but I drive to the range and don’t need to hike there with a full pack.

    Nice.....

  9. Payouts increased for me.  Also, the cost of weapons has dramatically decreased which is the only reason I now have a fully upgraded Lancaster with scope and a fully upgraded Schofield.  ......and that was before I received my free $250 / 15 Bars.

Its a free up grade, I would never do it, too much negative press in the forums.

Someday I'd like to have a Colt copy The Cattleman in 45 Colt looks real nice.  I can down size the 45/70 250gr flat noses (.460) and stuff them in a 45 Colt case (.454). My Bud uses them to shoot moles on his property. But then Id have to get  a lever in 45 Colt too, and all the fixins. Another money hole I do not need. Just want. My bucket of 45/70s will do just fine.

My Bud in L.A. was selling one of his M1as, dont know if its the tanker or standard. Ill stick with the M1 Garand. PING!

Yeah, they do a good job at making their replicas look authentic.  .....and apparently they are good shooters too.  I had also had my eye on the Cattleman.

I certainly wouldn't mind Garand but I like the M1A for the flexibility (for my needs) which is why it's on my short list.  I also like the Scout given it shaves 4 inches off the stock barrel length (18" vs. 22").  Makes it a bit more portable and maneuverable without taking away the classic "look" of the rifle IMO.  .....the SOCOM is only two inches shorter but just looks weird to me (too short).

I'd probably buy new as I rarely by used unless I know the seller.  .....nothing wrong with used, I just like new guns.  My S&W 629 was the only one I ever bought used but I couldn't pass it up for the price.  Also, the seller (my friend) had only shot one cylinder full of ammo before deciding the gun was too much for him.  When I bought it , I put a Pachmayr Decelerator grip on it, now I can shoot it all day with magnum loads with little discomfort.

  11. For me, the camp spawn feature no longer spawns the camp in the region I select.  It has been consistently placing it in different regions even after successive attempts.

I just submitted a bug report to R* on it.  I'd suggest others do the same if they are having issues as well.

  12. I've been trying out solo play for several sessions and rarely encounter any trolls simply because I go where random players are not.

It depends on what my goals are but I usually spawn in Ambarino and then immediately crouch so I don't show up on radar.  I check the minimap for hostiles.  .....check for bears and wolves and then check the big map to see where everyone is at, what they are doing, etc.  I check people's levels, the posses and the posse's honor levels (taking note off the bad ones).  I then observe for a bit to see if there are any obvious griefers among them.  If there are, I block them and take note of where they are.

While I try to avoid everyone, I particularly avoid posses and especially those I have noted that may be trouble.  I keep an eye on the minimap and check the big map for a clear route, clear destinations, etc. every now and again.  I usually set course for a clear town with the amenities I require and hunt along the way.  .....checking periodically that player activity is still the same.

It's really not that hard to stay away from folks IME/IMO.

I'm on PS so we can't be console buddies but this is friendly of you. Should have a section or something, maybe a thread (?) to let members who are looking for people to play with tell others.

There is a Posse subforum where you can join or create your own group. Works pretty nicely. We've got about 30 in our particular PS4 group now. I've got 26 in my PSN Community I created as a result and a number that have sent friends requests. Great way to organize a pool of players to join up with.

Play Story mode, this game is nowhere near finished.

I think back to all the missions, races, etc we had with GTAO at launch... not to mention a great SP to MP glitch,  RDRO has nothing exciting to do.

Id rather track down orchids for Algernon Wasp than grind the missions online,  for gods sake you can't even save your game! You could lose an hour worth of pelts when the servers kick you.

Im not gonna say RDRO sucks, its just nowhere near finished and shouldn't have been released.

Now if I could SPMP glitch Buel into online, that might be fun.....

Hoover is right.  RDO isn't the final release.  It's still in beta and R* has made that abundantly clear.  Now, if someone would rather wait for a more complete online experience, I would advise them to hold out until the final release.  ....but other than that, I'm glad they made the beta open to all owners of RDR2 during development as our input will (has) been able to help shape the online experience in the final product.

I make my own 45/70 just like the troopers did in the 1870s. About 11 cents a round, and sitting watching the game, and knock them out.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3duhNVjAu6E

The two screw Rugers with the transfer bar, you can load all six absolutely safe.

They just dont have a smooth lightning fast single action like the 3 screws.

    Like I said, I sold mine 🙂

Yeah, that's what I hear.  The action on the 3 screws was noticeably better.

Why some people purposely sent their 3 screws in to be converted is beyond me.  If I had one, I would have kept it as is.  I even heard that if they sent theirs in for other work, Ruger would do the conversion regardless (liability legal bull crap).

IIRC, the new Vaquero brought back the 4 click mechanics while retaining the transfer bar.

Thought about some of the Uberti replicas.  Their quality these days seems to be pretty decent and there's no way I'm going to get my hands on originals let alone be bothered to search for them.  Something about shooting those types of weapons provides a peek back in time.  It's a fun experience.

All I want now is an M1A Scout and I'll be happy.

  16. If this block feature on PS4 works like folks are saying, I'm thinking about applying it to these early levelers.  I doubt few made that rank legitimately if they are already that high at this point and quite frankly, I have no interest in being matched with them.  At some point, at least some will begin to use their inflated rank and purse to their advantage over others in the session.

Without private options, this is the only way I have some control over randoms in my world (albeit likely very little given the number of players out there).

It’s all opinion and what tool suits you best. I am not gifted with the innate ability some folks have for shooting, I actually have to work at it. To me using a 45/70 to defend a home is not an option it just costs to much to train with for my personal acceptable level of competency. If that makes me less of a person in someone’s opinion then so be it. I prefer to be better trained then lucky.... but again that’s just my opinion.

I've got to work at it as well with the exception of 1911s. Those guns simply feel natural to me. Now I'm not talking competition level here, fast draw, operator tactics, etc.  ......just getting lead on target.

I don't get out to the range as much as I'd like or perhaps I should.

    A Modern Lie.

I carried my 2 screw for years, the way they carried the peace maker, fully loaded and on first ****. Dropped it several times (doing quick draw).

Never went off. The deceptive you tube video that the guy hits his with a 2x4 and it goes off. Well he had the firing pin set against the round. I call him a lair.

You just had to be smarter to stay alive. Just like the lawyered up Winchesters and Marlin after 1980. Only fools buy them, or do like I did to many, removed the cross bolt safety. Funny from 1894 to 1979 they didn't come with them, and then someone shot themselves with one, and now everyone suffers.

I am not a pistol person, don't have any use for them. That's why I sold the 3 screw. We do own a modern 45ACP, the medium woman can use it. Ill take the 1895 Marlin in 45/70 for home defense any day.

Hickok45 is always entertaining, and mostly accurate. He also follow the dandy way of loading 5 shots in a six shooter. Meow.

I think we're just going to have to agree to disagree on the carry with 5 topic.  I know some are comfortable carrying with 6 in the design in question and I won't argue that. There's plenty of information out there on the topic for folks that are interested.

On the flip side, I never personally experienced an issue with a transfer bar in my Blackhawk over the course of 30 years and countless .38 & .357 ammo.  ......and its is still a great shooter for what it is.

I like guns of all types and if I could, I'd own a lot more than I do. I like the historical significance of some, designs, fun factor and practicality of others.  They aren't just tools for me to own. I have weapons that have no other use to me but for fun / interest.

Funny, as look back, no one in my family has ever sold a gun and I don't think any of us have ever even considered it. Although I do have friends that trade and sell all the time as they get bored some, etc.

I like Hickock 45. He's genuine and isn't full of himself like some other YT personalities out there. I also like channels like Ian McCollum's Forgotten Weapons. Really cool and interesting designs & history behind a lot of the guns he showcases.
