oh..... Gotta have a friend try that while I'm watching the map to verify. Good call. Didn't even think of that.

Seems we should see an update focusing on the economy and session errors this week. There is news also of another update next week and it seems these should be coming frequently from here on out.

They had something similar in GTAO didn't they? if memory serves the griefers would get tagged with a wanted level and be a red mark on the map. You got something for killing them, and the law enforcement would also be hunting them as other players were.
Yeah, they did although I don't recall the reward. Can't say I ever felt it was as effective in that game as I think it would in RDO (given all the advanced weapons, vehicles etc. in GTA).
It's these features in GTA that make me confident that we will at least see some implemented in RDO like the invite only sessions, etc.

I'm glad they will try to fix the bugs kicking people... maybe I'll be able to play now instead of getting disconnected every third step I take, thanks for the info!
No problem. Let's hope it fixes the problem for everyone or at least help mitigate it.

You know what might be fun? Canoeing to those islands off the coast of Lemyone, and sniping people who come at you in a canoe across the water. All you have to do is sit there crouched behind cover, and watch your map. I bet there's tons of knuckleheads who would be foolish enough to keep coming at you. A good rolling block or springfield rifle and auto aim? Easy-peasy!
That's hilarious because I was thinking the exact same thing last night. No one can spawn there so they would have to come by boat. I would love to try that sometime.
.....now someone will tell me there are no boats to be had.

This is for informational purposes.
I saw this money making scheme exploit on YT today for RDO. You go to Valentine and kill and skin the pigs in the pigpens. Then take that loot; 1 carcass, 4 pelts, meats, etc, to the nearby butcher. The pigs will respawn. Repeat your routine. This can be good for the travel distance is low. Low risk, high reward. $22 earned in less than 5 minutes. His best run was around $33 in 4 minutes. Poster speculates that R* will change the respawn timer to fix this.
I wonder if R* made the prices on everything so expensive, to help lure out money exploits?
P.S. He does a good Dutch impression.....if it wasn't for all the trolls that seem to congregate in Valentine.

You can condense those points into about 3 sentences. I had to do that to some of my feedback as well. In some cases, I simply broke it up and submitted it separately when possible.
Good feedback though.

Of course, it would also help if I didn't get locked into almost two hours of error codes when I tried to group up with a friend in another session. Right now, these servers are garbage, beta status or not.Seems your error code woes may soon be a thing of the past. ......or at least the focus of the first RDO update this week. The following was posted by R* today on Twitter:

No mention of more session options but then again, it appears updates will be coming on a frequent basis as the next one after this is scheduled for next week.
Let's keep the feedback coming folks!!!!!

Well, seems R* has acknowledged the many economy complaints and has chosen to make that one of the subjects of their main focus for an update that will release as early as this week. Also appears that other updates will be coming frequently as well:

What if you kill a player, you spawn on the map for say 10 seconds. That way Trolls will be lit up like a Christmas Tree all day long. Put a bounty on them where they get shot at by NPCs as well as PCs. Trolls don't like it when they can be seen and everyone is against them.
Sounds good to me although I'd say leave them lit up for a few minutes . .....or maybe within a certain perimeter from where the offense occurred forcing them to leave the area or prepare to defend themselves. With the bounty you mentioned of course.
What about allowing one posse to play the part of marshalls that can perhaps spawn in to the region where an offense takes place? ....but knowing trolls, they'll likely infiltrate that mechanic and it would backfire.

So I don't have a problem with the PvP, I actually like that aspect of the game, but I don't like that every player is pinpointed on the map. There is no option to "watch your back" and it is virtually impossible to go at it alone. Leave the PvP as it is just remove the player blips from the map. If you want to hunt other players, at least give them a fighting chance.
Removing blips is a double edged sword giving trolls anonymity as well. They could simply lie in wait in towns, at mission starting points, post offices, etc. and still have a clear advantage over their victims. At least now I can see what towns they have infested and wait or move along.
I was an advocate too for removing blips (and still am), but they need to do more to discourage trolling and penalize that kind of behavior. Some may say that ruins their fun but they are also ruining the fun of others.
We really need invite-only sessions and/or passive options (that trolls cannot use to their advantage).

You will probably need to buy a "Brokers License" for 100 Gold before you can sell a horse.
Seriously, what was R* thinking? a Wild West game where you can't catch, tame and sell wild horses. Did they really need a Beta test to tell them that?
As Truth mentioned, it could have simply been left out for now.
This is a game still in development (not like some other betas on console that are essentially stress tests). Makes sense to me that they wanted to have a launch that was as bare bones as they could make it to ensure they had a solid foundation first before adding additional sessions options, modes, missions, mechanics, etc.
This time around it seems R* took their experience from GTAVO to heart and have really opened themselves to community feedback before launching RDO. I hope everyone takes advantage of this and submits their suggestions and reports of any problems they find.

Yeah, the star icons are posse leaders. ......red icons are players who you are engaged with. ....little black and white crosses are dead players. .....your icon will apear grey when not visible to others (e.g. while kneeling).
......but does anyone know what the eye icon represents? I've seen that a few times where a player's icon changes into this for a moment or so.

I thought that was how it worked, then I read @YodaMan 3D's post... Are you sure you blocked the person? I sometimes forget to after reporting them, could that be the case?
That's the thing.... I don't know if it works. I never tried to see if someone I blocked ever showed up in a session with me again. I just started blocking RDO players last night that I observed were trolling others.

The only announcement they made about wiping player data was on the beta release notes. They simply said that they may have to. .....nothing more, nothing less.
The RDO beta is a work-in-progress beta. It unlike most of the ones we see on console where the product is essentially complete but the company releases it to help promote the game and stress test servers (usually lasting just a few days). .....with few changes being made once final.
I have a feeling RDO will be in beta for several weeks. The game is still in development which could be good news for us if R* pays attention to the feedback they have been receiving from fans. The bad news is that we may not have a complete online experience for a while.
Whether they have to wipe the server data or not will likely depend on what updates they have to make, exploits they discover, etc. It may simply not be possible to keep the data depending on what they have to alter in the process. The thing is that this is an open beta where everyone who is participating are customers. I don't see R* wiping data unless they really have to. ....and even then, maybe it's only certain aspects that require being reset.

Yeah, there seems to be no consequences. .....or at least lasting ones.
I never saw a dollar amount on my head but my friend and I tore up a town just to see what would happen (only killing NPCs mind you). Escaped, then stopped and killed a few waves of lawmen and then they stopped coming. ....went back to town and it was as if nothing happened.
I suspect this is simply one of those components that had not been added yet. I would also like to see bounties on those who kill fellow players indiscriminately. ....with NPC posses that chase after them.

I've given up playing online until Rs see sense and bring in passive play or private invite only lobbies. For those of us that want to build our characters, hunt, fish etc the griefers are making life very difficult.
Just getting from a to b is a tedious effort when cretins are constantly rinsing you. Yesterday I messaged a griefer and politely asked him why he was trying to stop me getting on with my game. He replied by calling me a snowflake and saying that it was part of the game.
I've submitted feedback to Rs and from what I've seen on the net lots of others are really annoyed about this. They'd have to be pretty dumb to not sort this problem out.
Another thing I've noticed is how the honour system doesn't reflect the behaviour of posses. I was looking to join a honourable posse the other day and when I tracked them down in Blackwater I found them knifing NPCs.
I'm done with it until / unless they sort out these morons who are spoiling the game for everyone else.
Well, if it's any consolation, I saw the following in a Tweet this weekend from R*. I am sure they've been receiving a ton of complaints about the lack of invite-only sessions, trolls, etc. .....and this response (IMO) likely came as a result of that and the complaints about the economy:
QuoteWe want to thank everyone for their feedback on the first few days of the Red Dead Online Beta. Now that it’s accessible to all players, we’ll work to balance and fine tune the experience to make sure it’s fun and rewarding for all kinds of players.
Good on you for submitting your feedback. I've read the responses to the R* tweet and what folks have been saying on various social media. It seems (to me) the biggest complaints are what you brought up (lack of session options) and the in-game economy.

Friday night when I was experiencing really bad lag, one of my friends logged on. Too bad that was his first experience with the game that night. To top it all off, missions wouldn't populate or simply wouldn't work right when they did. We were also trolled several times. 24 hours later my other friend (first time as well) logged on and we had a blast. Things were smooth, missions worked and we really didn't run into any trolls.
Personally, in some sessions it seems they are trying to throw too many people together. Other times (when it's less crowded) everything works better. .....animals spawn in, missions show in the map and work, griefers are more tolerable (obviously), etc. I have counted players in each session but that's the way it seems to me at times. Maybe it had nothing to do with that and each session was full. ......dunno.
-
I will admit that I haven't tried it in RDO but IME, most co-op matchmaking is hit and miss. ......mostly miss.
Having said that, I have met a handful of good gaming friends this way in past games that I still team up with.

He really knows how to use that auto aim. He's obviously really talented.
