You can see the stats on each weapon in your inventory, when in a store (in the catalogue), etc. so it's easy enough to compare. Perhaps I am not understanding your question?
-
I wouldn't say they are "lying" but simply made a mistake.
The stables are linked but I believe (and don't call me a liar because I'm not sure
) that you are limited to only 4. .....which makes sense since they are linked, yeah?

Hi guys,
I'm on the verg of freaking out because of this. I can't handle it anymore and need your help. Maybe you think that I'm overdramatizing but this is really annoying and killing the fun for me.
As MS mentioned, you can time your button presses to the stride of the horse when in a full gallop and you won't deplete it's stamina. There is even mentioned of this in the tips you get in-game.
There is also an option you can use to "toggle" the run button so that you don't have to keep pressing it. However, you will still need to tap it for full sprint / gallop.
Your horse will begin grunting excessively and eventually start making many more noises as you deplete it's stamina or when you are not timing your button taps properly.
In that video, look at how depleted the health and stamina cores are for the horse. Of course, the horse is going to start showing signs of fatigue and discontent. This is all feedback to help you understand your horse's current state. It will get restless when there are predators nearby, it will begin grunting and show signs of resisting when pushed too far, etc. Listen to what the horse is telling you and check the stats. Feed it when you begin to see depletions in the core(s).
I don't think you're overdramatizing but I do think some other folks around here tend to assume the game is broken instead of accepting that they might be doing something wrong. RDR2 has more depth in it's mechanics than the game it replaces. If you take the time to learn how those components work, you'll have a much more enjoyable time in the game IMO/IME.
btw, I appreciate the fact that you accept that you might be doing something wrong as some others would rather just blame the game than consider that it's within their control. They are heavy-handed in the way they approach the RDR2 game world when the game is now more about rewarding finesse and skill. ....the depth of this title is one major reason I really like it.
I enjoy the challenge and it makes me feel that my input has more of an impact in-game vs. just a point, click and shoot experience. I get better as I progress through the story. ....my skills improve, my senses and intuition sharpen, I become more aware of clues and danger in the game world, etc. Some may prefer a simpler, cut & dry experience and I can understand that. .....but that's not what RDR2 is about and I'm all the more happy for it.
I wish I could find a video showing you how to time your gallop. I will admit that it took a little practice for me to get it and even then I still don't time it right every time especially in situations of stress (e.g. being chased, shot at, etc.). .....but at worst, I've reached the point where my horse's stamina will drain very slowly.

I have asked the same question to myself many times. Most of us just want to have a civil conversation and help each other, not get bashed on because your information isn't helping.
I swear, I've gone almost a whole year getting on with everyone and then in just this week I've already added 4 to my ignore list. ....first time I've had to use it in these forums.

You don't ... Listen, this isn't my first game ever. All your advice is small talk. Save your time.
Way to go being a complete jerk to someone is only trying to help you find a solution.
What is it with some of these people lately who have been joining up in the last few days?

I concur....

yeah, just checked it again. It is in one, very small area of the Grizzlies East area where the indicator shows up. Really weird. I might travel to that site just to see what's up. I don't even know if there is anything of consequence in that specific area.
-
I saw the same thing. .....don't know if it's still there but wasn't aware of what triggered it or if it was possibly just a glitch. It's was only in one small area of the map that it popped up.
You get a dead or alive status if you engage lawmen regardless. .....but you can still pay off the bounty as I have. In this case, it's not documented anywhere (record is clean).

I only got caught by bounty hunters once, where they took all my money. Lawmen take a small portion.

I seem to recall reading that when "The Law" kills you or arrests you, you only lose a portion of your money (it's usually about 10%, iirc), but if a Bounty Hunter takes you down, they rifle through your pockets and take all your money.
Yeah, I think it's a graduated fine starting at 5% and going up to 20% but I would have to research to confirm. Either way, they don't take all of your money from my experience.
I think I died once from a posse but never noticed what they took. I was just starting out back then so I didn't have much.
......manual saves are our friends folks.

Im knew to RDR2 has well, so maybe those people with experience from the first one didnt have to learn things the hard way like I have... I dunno.
The lock break, when I first got it at the first fence I found, I thought I messed up by paying 25$ for it and thinking it would only work 1 time. Thankfully it is something I can use all the time and been well worth the investment. Although I probably haven't gotten back 25$ from anything within the 5 or so Ive broken into, I'm sure they will add up over time.
Yeah, I had the opportunity quite a while back to buy it but passed and that's why I didn't have it for that one encounter. I need to remember to purchase it next time I'm there. .....well, now there's other fences I can go to so I'll check with them. Good to know its permanent.
RDR had similar mechanics so yeah, I guess it helps to have played it since you kinda know what to expect. I will say RDR2s mechanics definitely have more depth and it's been a learning curve for me and a lot of experimentation. Either way, there are a lot of guides coming out now describing the intricacies, triggers for these types of events, etc. I try to avoid most of it though as I prefer to figure things out on my own. .....and I don't want to happen upon any spoilers.
Speaking of which, came across this a couple days ago and thought since your thread was about bounties it might be sort of relevant. I don;t think this is a spoiler but I'll use that option just in case. It's basically just a list of the crimes, severity of each and bounty amount (SOURCE: https://gearnuke.com/red-dead-redemption-2-guide-bounty-values-per-crime/):
SpoilerCRIME SEVERITY BOUNTY Animal Cruelty Low (Medium for kills) $5 Arson Low (in the wilderness) /
Medium (in towns)$5 Assault High $5 Bank Robbery High $25 Cheating Low $5 Disturbing the Peace Low $5-$10 Intimidation Medium $5 Jail Break High $25 Kidnapping High $10 ($15 for lawmen) Looting Low $5 Murder High $15 ($20 for lawmen) Robbery Medium $5-$10 Rustling Low $5 Theft Low; Medium for horse theft $5 ($10 for horse theft) Train Robbery High $50 Trespassing Low $5 Vandalism Low $5 Unarmed Assault Low (in towns) / Medium

So I turned his head into a canoe.
Hahaha......
Funny, that "head into a canoe" is a common phrase Clint Smith uses (weapons trainer and old Viet vet).

You can also focus on them and calm them.
In real life, a horse kick can easily kill you.
As Skysaw mentioned, you need to use the calm feature first. I always check by engaging the horse first (L2 on PS4) and see if that option is available. If not, then I pet it a few times just to be sure and even after calming it down.
I've been kicked twice but didn't die either time. The first time I wasn't familiar with the calm mechanic. The second time, I calmed the horse down but apparently not enough. ....that's when I started to pet them after. Hadn't had an issue since.
I have also used the patented Creed method and shot the darn thing if I didn't want to bother or was in a hurry.

You can buy a lock breaker for 25$ that lasts forever, so you don't have to wait for them or when you steal coaches yourself, you can always break them open.
I wrote the original post and have been playing since it was released trying many many different things and I can assure you, the bounty/wanted system is severely messed up. You will see as you get into similar situations and many others where you didnt do anything wrong or someone around a mountain witnesses you out in the middle of no where and a part of 6-10 bounty hunters instantly spawns on you shooting you off your horse and owning you.
Same with Lawmen - anyone sees blood or something in town, if you are 2 streets over, you get blamed for it some how and they after you with bounties all of a sudden.
Honestly, I've been playing quite a lot (I'm semi-retired now so I have no schedule) and my experience has been quite the opposite. I simply don't agree, that's all.
....and thanks for the tip on the bolt cutters. I knew I could buy them but at that particular point I had passed on the purchase. .....it would have been nice to have them back then though.

It's nice to see I"m not the only one who gets sucked in by the gambling. I spent two in-game days playing poker in Valentine after unlocking it.
I played a few hands and got my butt handed to me. .....I think they were cheating.

Ah, tell me you didn't just go there.

Seriously though.... FC5 was a mess IMO. Talk about a game not delivering on expectations for me. They butchered that franchise after FC2. .....ok, ok, I'll calm down now.

As MS mentions, the beginning of the game is an orientation of sorts to get you familiar with some of the mechanics and set the foundation of the story, characters, etc.
The gameworld will open up and gradually you'll be introduced to more aspects of the game as you progress.

Part of me wonders how playthrough speed relates to folks' rating of the game.
I don't necessarily think it's the rushing of the game that gives a bad impression to players (although that may be in some cases) but perhaps it's telling of a general lack of interest or dissatisfaction in some of its elements.
Personally, I tend to rush games I simply don't find that interesting and I'll savor the ones I really enjoy. .....like this one. No wrong or right here, just a matter of perspective.

When you got things to do there never seems to be enough time during daylight.
Just as long as an adjustment meant the night wouldn't be extended as well, I would be all for it.
-
yeah.... Every time I'm in town and most times I pass people on the road (unless I'm in a hurry) I'll try to greet them. That will have an effect. Eventually you'll start seeing white silhouettes of a man with a hat on with a plus sign next to it appear briefly at the right of the screen. If you can find someone in distress, help them. That is a big boost.

Bah! That sucks.

I agree a lot with what @DylBandit had to say.
I'd honestly give this game a 9 or a 10. This rating isn't based on expectations or marketing but more about my own experience, a comparison with other games I have played/enjoyed and the value I get (and/or believe I will get out of it in the weeks/months to come).
Dylan already echoed a lot of what I was thinking so I won't get into it here. .....and yeah, I get what you are saying about some of the negatives but it simply boils down to a difference of opinion.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I thought that a hat you pick up would become part of your inventory but either I'm doing something wrong or it only stick around while you keep it on your head.

Don't assume Kean is try to fill you with BS. I think there are safeguards you can do, instead of running full bull in a china shop everywhere. I also believe that somethings in this game just aren't fair. I started playing through once, playing the nice guy and things was rough going in every event. Restarted and instead of sparing NPCs, I'm cold and harsh. Things seem easier and fewer gankings by NPCs, so far. I think there are triggers hidden in the mechanics that can make the game easier or harder down the line.
Thanks Yoda but don't worry about it. I figured RDR2.org would see it's share of this lot when the game released.
I don't see the reason people like Wildpoop have to resort to disrespectful remarks like that but to be honest, I'm too old to evn give a crap. Clearly his hamfisted ways of playing the game are working for him so what do I know anyway? Let him continue to be frustrated with the game. By contrast, I'm having a great time with it and learning how to react with the gameworld.
RDR2.org was a fun and cordial atmosphere up till launch. ......I'm not going to let a couple bad apples ruin it for me. Time to start using the ignore feature.

Horrible camera panning/zoning while riding/moving
in Red Dead Redemption 2
Posted
As Skysaw said, I slow down when getting closer to others that I want to talk to on horseback especially if I am going to engage in more dialogue than a simple one-time greeting. .....it's a hell of a lot easier to keep your horse on the road. Also, if you ride too fast and too close to people when passing on roads, you risk making them upset which makes sense.
As for following others, I still use the "autopilot" but I make manual course corrections along the way as needed.
