    That's debatable.

Agreed.  .....as are the bugs and "issues" as some of the latter have been more opinion of design than broken code IMO.  I acknowledge that some are experiencing certain legitimate bugs but I also realize that some of those issues don't affect everyone.

That's not a dismissal of legitimate grievances but simply an acceptance that not everyone will share the same view based on their own gameplay experience.

IMO / IME, the game has been amazing and worthy of the high reviews. I based that on my own opinion and experience in the game and not that of others.

  2. Celebrate?  I don't as an adult but we do take my kid out for trick or treating.  Actually, my wife did and I'm currently at home passing out candy.  ....she'll take over when they get back.

Other than drinking a bit and waiting for the rascals to stop coming to our door so I can play RDR2, no, I don't have any other plans for this evening.

  3. Too buggy?  IME, not really but that's not to say that I don't acknowledge some haven't run into their own.

.....as for opinions on some of the mechanics (e.g. bounties, AI interaction, mission structure, lack of sex & nudity, etc.), much of this I've seen is purely subjective and some even leaning toward hyperbolic rhetoric.  Some criticism I agree with (totally or to a point) and others I simply don't. Again, it comes down to personal opinion.

Either way, I had no illusion that the game would not have some level of bugs in it.  IMO, I expect (hope) R* will be quick to address these (like the HDR issue) but only time will tell.

Personally, I am having a blast with the game.  I haven't found any issues or disappointments in the gameplay that I can say have really tarnished my gameplay experience.  ....just the opposite in fact as I am discovering new things I delve deeper into the campaign.

Again, in time we'll know just how RDR2 stands in gaming history.  Like Melting Snowflakes, I too have been gaming for decades and I've seen many other big titles that have had their share of bugs on release (some with far more than this game).  While I might like to see some aspects of RDR2 improved, etc., I am overall quite happy with the product.

This is a multi billion dollar game with an audience in the millions. They've been consistent in the sex in their games for a decade now. Of course fans of that aspect of the game are going to be disappointed.

Now, as for "it doing nothing for you" -- I'm a romantic. I like story lines and character depth. I'm not big on massacres and shootouts. I'm not big on gore. How would you feel if Rockstar who built an audience (of people like you) by showcasing gun battles in their games -- just left them out of RDR2, and I, not caring for them, simply said... Eh. It doesn't bother me that gun battles were left out. I'm not a fan of them anyway. And all the fans who were disappointed, f em.

I'm guessing you wouldn't like me very much. Bottom line, the world doesn't revolve around your likes. If other people in your community are asking for something the least you could do is not be dismissive of them.

Again, you're overreacting to what is essentially my indifference to sex and nudity in games.  I simply don't like or dislike those elements in GTAV, the Witcher, etc.  You are warping that into me somehow trying to take this element away from you.

RDR2 was the second biggest launch in entertainment history, only second to GTAV.  .....and I'll wager they'll sell a lot more.  If R* had marketed a game without "shootouts", "gun battles", "gore", etc., do you really think it would have been successful?

btw, without revealing spoilers, there is brief nudity and sex (implied and otherwise) in this game.  As for romance, there is a love interest and plenty of character development, drama, depth, bonding, rivalries, etc. I'm just beginning to delve into that other romantic relationship as I haven't got that far yet.

I'm truly sorry you can't seem to enjoy the game without the existing sex / nudity.  I honestly haven't had this much fun in a game in a long time.  The campaign will certainly last me well into November and I'll doubt I will even complete it before the online beta hits.

Either way, good luck to you.

  5. Just spitballin' here.....  How about trying the maintenance feature in the stable.  I forget what it is is called but it brings you horse's levels back up.  .....even if they already are, perhaps this will reset any glitch there may be in that mechanic that could be limiting the horse's sprint speed.  Could also try tonics?

It's almost as if you're thinking like a real outlaw, there MrCreed. ;)

....and quite honestly, this is one reason why I really like this game.  I also like the fact that I can lose my horse.  It forces me to exercise caution and also adds an element of tension, excitement and great relief when you know you just dodged a bullet.

Personally, I only lost my horse once and that was my fault entirely (tried to beat the train).  I have survived several ambushes with some really close calls.  I was killed in one or two but my horse escaped without issue.

When traveling along roads I will often slow down in choke points, over bridges, etc.  More than once I was able to hear them talking as I approach.  I will then pull my pump shotgun or repeater and either face them or run away.  I also will run alongside roads or "as the crow flies" as Creed mentioned.  I actually look forward to encounters like these now as I have become pretty good at reacting to them and they tend to be profitable (stuff I can sell to my fences).

  7. Yeah.....   RDR2.org is like my last safe place to go.  Now with the onslaught of so many new members, seems pieces of the story are being leaked here and there.  I try to stay away from the thread titles that seem like they may reveal something I don't know yet.  😄

Kean_1 are you trying to refer to your first post in this thread? Because that whole post was straight-faced. Are you trying to act like it was perfect sarcasm? What about it was sarcastic exactly? Am I missing something?

"I don't have a 4K TV and quite frankly, I never saw a reason to buy another console when my original PS4 works just fine and I'm not going to replace my 60" 1080P TV for a 4K just for gaming.  By the next gen I will likely have a 4K TV and the new consoles will probably support it out of the box, so then it will be a different story .....but I can also understand why those with the current Pro systems and equipment to support it are upset.  I would be too if I were in the same boat. " - Kean_1

    AHAHAHAHA PERFECT SARCASM

What are you on about?  I meant the remark you dissected in your diatribe where yes, I was using sarcasm:   "....and yes, with the proper equipment, it does make a difference for those that can tell."

Oh, and hey, welcome to the forums by the way.

  9. You're still tapping the run button, yeah?  Provided your horse's stamina is ok, I wouldn't think there should be a problem.  The only time i have the issue is sometimes off road or in certain areas where it is restricted.

I also found out later from a "tip" notification that if you tap the run button in time with your horse's gallop, the stamina will not deplete.

    No solo sessions then?

Is it going to be peer-to-peer like GTA?

Recent data mining revealed a possible private session and "seamless PvE" on top of what we already know.    ....and given GTAVO had a solo mode, I think that speaks favorably to RDO including it as well.

I just hope they focus more on solo / coop than adversarial this time.

  11. Here.....   Found this sketch to illustrate what I'm talking about:

Image result for 170 degree rule for shooting

Everyone else is behind the firing line.

You may also hear about the "180 degree" rule (that's what I was taught growing up) but the idea behind the "170 rule" is the added safety of the extra 5 degrees to your left and right.  In either case, I never have my weapon pointed anywhere close to those extremes within that radius in relation to where others are around me or at the range.

Thanks for reminding me about acceleration and other settings. I keep forgetting I need to play around with those.

No problem, I played around with it quite a bit and to be honest, I'm still toying with it.

I have to say that I have found RDR2 a little easier than GTAV or even RDR to manually aim.

I think I'm going to do a second run through of the game in first person to see how that feels.  .....I still have a long way to go though.

What does he mean by "breaking your 170?"

Your firing line.  An imaginary 170 degrees (left to right) while pointed down range.  To "break" that means you are pointing your weapon in an unsafe direction (potentially sweeping someone with your muzzle).  Everyone else should be behind that radius.

....has nothing to do with gunfights but simply the rules of the range or anytime you are firing weapons whether that's practice, hunting, etc.
