I've had a couple kill animations that were pretty wicked as well.

I had a problem with the legendary grizzly. It disappeared when I happened across another large animal (elk I think) and skinned that. In my case, because these two animals were large rolls, I think it automatically got rid of the one I had because there was no room?
I guess I won't know until I start really diving into the game.

When you go into the town with your horse, do a spin the with the camera and look around fast, you can see the frame rate drop major. I just looked this up, and this is a common problem for pretty much all consoles. The PS4 Pro and Xbox One X is also having a little frame rate drop.
Ok, will do.

Ok, I visited Valentine on a few occasions tonight and really didn't notice any frame rate issues. Even with pedestrians, wagons and horses all moving about. Maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention as I admittedly forgot about this conversation while in the game. If there was some stuttering, it was not that noticeable (for me at least) otherwise it would have bugged me as well. I'll keep an eye out though.

Yup.... What Freddie said. I believe it's 3.2GB IIRC?

Hey Dylan, I just got into free roam last night so I'll check tonight when I get on as I'm sure I will want to go into town to check it out.
....and yeah, ping has nothing to do with it as you mentioned. One other thought.... Do you have Netflix, Amazon Prime or another app running on your PS4? I've noticed that if I don't use the option button to close one of those applications after I exit, they will still run in the background and sometimes cause lag in some games.
Just throwing out ideas. I'll report back on my own experience as well (regular PS4 here).

You need to be looking at them.

Yes I see that. Anyway. Still a fine AMAZING game. Just was hoping they'd improve that system. There's so many ways to easily improve it. Just seems out of place in an otherwise fluid showing.
It turns most shootouts into not much more than a pop up shooting gallery. ANd exactly as above I have to do so that way, as I'm fighing my own dude more than any enemy. It's like I'm trying to move someone else's arm. Idk above talking about realistic??? It's animation based, which I think they chose because it looks real. But it does not react real. I can't quickly aim and unload. It's super cumbersome.
I enjoy tactical shooters and the way other TPV games like MGSV, GRW, etc. work. I like the idea of the transition to ADS from the TPV. I like the feel of games where I can actually turn off auto aim and still be accurate just by myself.
The style R* has stuck with obviously works for them and their fans. It relies heavily on auto aim and the cover system. Having said that, I'm still messing with the sensitivity, acceleration and auto aim options in RDR2 but it does feel better (to me) than GTAV did. I may even play with the FPV to see how that feels after a while.
...speaking of which, I wonder if RDR2 has the same switch option to TPV that GTAV did when you go into cover from FPV?

Realism. Once you figure it out, it helps with timing your shots and is quite enjoyable.
Yeah, I'm still trying to figure some of the system out of storing items, shooting, movement to cover, etc. but at this point, I can see it's just a matter of me getting into the swing of it. It's been enjoyable so far.
I did have a few moments during the tutorial when I couldn't fire but it was either due to the animation / transition not allowing me to or my own ignorance on how the mechanic worked. Again, I just have to get into the groove which I will this afternoon / evening.
-
R* produces TPV games that tend to rely heavily on auto aim. Heck, they even have the "dead eye" mechanic that essentially does the shooting for you. A TPV game like Ghost Recon Wildlands on the other hand is a totally different experience as it should be given it's a tactical shooter. I have no problem playing that game without any aim assist. .....R* games are a different story.
btw, they've given you quite a bit of control over the sensitivity of the settings, the auto-aim, etc. so it may pay to spend some time tweaking those.
In a any case, I get what the OP means but it's not an issue for me. ......at least in R* games. It's just a different experience.

Can I ask how long into this game before you are allowed to play yourself? Or is the whole game like this?
Not much longer. I was taking my sweet time and when I quit last night, you could tell it was finishing up. ....I won't give away any details to ruin the sense of discovery for others.

It's more than that, though. They do a substantial amount of world building and storytelling in those first few hours.
And I loved every moment of it.
Preach brother....
......and those 3 hours I played last night barely scratched the surface. I really can't wait until I begin to free-roam but I am enjoying the lead up to that. The scenery was amazing and I liked how they blended the tutorial with the setting up of the plot, characters, etc.

I think certain people take people's indifference or lack of desire for this content to be in their games as somehow being prudish. Personally, it does nothing for me in games. ....it did nothing for me in titles like the Witcher 3.
I can't believe this is even an "issue" of concern due to it lacking in a game but c 'est la vie. Different "strokes" for different folks I guess. 😏
All I know is that the game is great so far and I'm having a blast playing it. .....sex or no sex.

At the risk of being a sceptical old fart, toxicity in gamers seems to be a fact of life nowadays, hopefully they will be removed, blocked or ignored, as the majority are indeed "nice folk".
Yeah, I know how toxic some folks can be on forums and I know we will inevitably collect some of those along the way, but there is also a good management staff here which helps a lot.
@CMcC I almost spit out my drink when I read that remark. 😄

It lets you record your gameplay then you can edit it with several different styles, shots etc
Its what people use to make gta 5 films for YouTube
I recall an interview with R* regarding how impressed they were with the films coming from the community in GTAV. I think they can appreciate it and realize how others enjoy it as well. I can see R* at least considering it for RDR2.
There are a number of YTers out there creating this sort of content purely for entertainment, telling their own stories, making mini films, etc. Some of it is really quite good IMO (a lot of talent out there).

Having sex in the game or not doesn't really bother me, It never really caught my interest even in Grand Theft Auto. I guess its just something I'm not to concerned about while playing games.
Yeah, sex in RDR2 was nowhere even on my check list of things I would have wanted. ....wouldn't care if it was in there either but certainly could care less that it isn't.

With everything I've seen so far and simply judging them by my past experiences with their product, I had no doubt.

Yeah, you never know what the future may hold. .....but I have a feeling the campaign and RDO beta will keep me busy for a long time before I start craving more.

Well, thanks CMcC. You're one of mine as well. In fact, there are a lot of nice folks around here. I hope that doesn't change too much as the community grows.

What about a combination of ideas stemming from writers, written works and myth from the period. .....Brahm, Stoker, Shelley, Stevenson, etc. Maybe you fall into the role of a 19th century "monster hunter" of sorts with main characters that you need to defeat (Frankenstien, Dracula, etc.) but also other minions and victims that you encounter throughout the world. Voodoo in the Lemoyne region and yeah, maybe even zombies from legend.
Just spitballin' here.....

I really wished they would have released a remastered version of RDR on the latest gen consoles. I would have bought it. .....but now that RDR2 is here, I doubt I will ever try to revisit that old title ever again. It just wouldn't be the same given just how far the game has advanced in this latest iteration of the series.
-
Thanks Benjo. RDR2.org is my last spoiler-free zone before the release tonight. I've had to abandon my other sources until then as they all started to reveal a wee bit too much for my taste.
.....and thanks @Gswaynas I know your heart is in the right place in sharing this information with others.

Talking to people
in Red Dead Redemption 2

Yeah, that issue sounds really strange. You need to hold the trigger down if that helps. The dialogue options should then appear and your camera will track them as they pass by, etc. It felt a little quirky at first but I don't have any problems (PS4).
