Pretty much... Sad but true.
While console gets exploiters, some griefers and cheaters, it's essentially free of hackers for the most part. The tools R* provides to mitigate griefing actually work as well (although some may argue how effective they are, bugs, glitches, etc.).
On PC, hackers can and do make such things a moot point once they are in control.
-
Couple things I'd like to make you aware of just in case......
One, we have a naming and shaming rule so please make sure that if you do find out who was involved, do not post their name(s) here.
Second, I would suggest you use R*s reporting features including their Support site to report this. We can't do anything about it and hacking on PC is just a fact of life unfortunately.
Personally, I'd recommend simply leaving the session next time and starting a new one as you're just giving them what they want when you let it continue like that. They'll move on to someone else. Walking away is your best bet in these instances.

Thanks for the heads up Harry. Turns out, their only other post was a copy of another members contribution back in December. They copied the post verbatim just as they did yours. Likely a spammer trying to create what would appear to be a legitimate account before doing whatever they planned to do. .....makes you wonder.
Thanks for reporting this.

Yes I have sent in 2 bug reports on it.
Good. I'm just saying because while discussing the matter with fellow community members here is all well and good, we are not affiliated with R* or Take Two. ....in other words, we can't really do anything about bugs.

Hi Lee and welcome to the forums.
I'd just ask that if you are interested in recruiting people for your posse, that you use our Posse Recruitment subforum located here:
https://www.rdr2.org/forums/forum/16-posse-recruitment/
Every member is allowed one thread each and you can read the specific guidelines for posting in that forum here:
Again, welcome to the site.

Well here it is Friday and STILL the problem persists. No longer getting pissed off I AM pissed off. Hunting and skinning is my favorite part of the game. This may be a game breaker it it don't get fixed soon
Well, did you try reporting it to R*? Either you can do that or cross your fingers it fixes itself.
-
Yeah, the situation is much worse on PC from what I have seen (from the complaints people make).
You can try using the in-game tools to help mitigate griefing (e.g. the Defensive Mode) but if you run into people hacking, there is only so much you can do except to report them to R* and move to another session.

I get it. I know folks are frustrated with R* and I know some of you are just venting about it. Hell, I probably haven't touched the game for over a month IIRC but it is what it is. I'm just waiting for more content and/or a reason to come back the RDO world. I do the same with GTAO.
.....but every week it just seems these posts garner the same, disparaging reactions and comments.
Here's where I'm coming from.... It gets to me after a while. I'm beginning to wonder, if no one cares, why do I even bother checking Twitter, etc. early in the morning every Tuesday (or every day during the week for that matter) to share these updates with the community? There doesn't seem to be anything positive coming from these weekly updates so should stop wasting my time and focus my efforts where they can be more appreciated.
Sorry, I get it but I guess after posting this last one and seeing the "meh" response, It sort of (collectively) got under my skin. ......nothing against you @Enoch as that is my own issue. I know it wasn't directed at me.

......so is there a question here or just a rant?
Did you try other farms? Is this in story mode or online?
I've found that pigs are not always in the pens. Sometimes you have to come back later or check other farms.
-
You can't use random wagons like that. The only wagons for purchase that I know of are in the Online game and via the Trader Role.

I was just being lighthearted about it all and using it as a little pun. Don't go on and get offended by it, it's all in fun with me and that's what we do where I'm at. We make fun of each other, we joke, we have fun. I think you'd be better off enjoying the lighter side of the joke opposed to trying to combat me on it. Don't take it personally because there's nothing personal about it. I don't have anything to say to you that I won't say openly or in private. That was just an introductory comment.
I'm not offended by it. Just making sure you understood as you seemed to struggle when we discussed it last time. .....and substance wasn't the problem.
I wasn't mad then and I'm not mad now.

.......like I exit nearly every other game on PS4. I hit the PS button, move to the game tile, hit the option button and then choose close. I have to do this manually for Netflix, Amazon Prime and my games to make sure they're closed.

Gotta make sure this has some sustenance to it so the moderators don't get mad at me. Ok, so we have a great amount of players in our community and a growing presence in RDRO in a lot of timezones. If you are looking for mature players to play with, come and see about us.
The issue was daily bumping of your recruitment thread which was against the rules.
We went over this in our PMs to each other and I thought you understood. .....at least you said you did.
If you have an issue with what I discussed with you, please PM me. There's no need for this.

exactly, lol
Ive learned in a year, these people responding are reading from script and often their recommendations do absolutely nothing, I am not going through all that in hopes that camps start working and animals spawn, lol.
That's how these call centers and first tier operators work, using scripts. In some cases, you might get someone who has a little more personal knowledge than the next but even then, some companies demand they stick to the scripts.
Before the PC release, you could get your case escalated pretty easily IME and even these front line folks seemed a little more knowledgeable at times.
After the PC release, they even started sending messages that your case is closed but they will investigate. They didn't even bother trying to address some issues.
Now, I don't know if that's due to the contractor they are using, the fact that they were overwhelmed by the PC release or perhaps some combination of problems. .....but it was annoying to say the least.
I haven't tried Support in a while but a couple responses I saw from people saying they were helped recently might indicate a change. .....I don't know.
But if nobody says anything........

To help mitigate ambushing solo players, law-abiding citizens can call for help. A small posse of NPC gunmen show up and all “good” players on the map get a notification that another player needs help.
Thing is, there’s no reason to do PVP in free roam besides being an asshole (in most cases). So either you find ways to prohibit it entirely, or you develop a system that feeds back into the Wild West setting.
And outlaws could be visible on the map just like hostile players are currently displayed.
....but calling for help isn't going to stop ambushing.
I dunno... I just don't see this plan fitting into R*'s vision for RDO. It would be a step back in my honest opinion. I wouldn't want it personally, but as I said earlier, I do like the idea of more activities like bank robberies, etc.
IMO, the way to mitigate griefing is by removing opportunities, not adding them. You also add activities that can attract those players. What the game needs is more content to allow outlaws to be outlaws. .....heists, robberies of stores, banks, trains, etc. .....the stuff I mentioned earlier.
That's my take on it at least.

If you want to be left alone, be in defensive mode.
This game is more rotten then gta5 cuz there is no inbuilt solo server options.
....not even in the same league as GTAO IMO for several reasons in this regard but yeah, if you're just comparing to solo and/or invite only, of course. The thing is, you can't do a significant amount of activities while in solo or invite-only in GTAO.

OK so i searched everywhere on line how to recruit someone to fallow you and be your gang members, EVERY where i go it says that it isns possible, EVEN here on the forums. SO how come in the help-->combat section it specifically says "FIGHTING WITH COMPANIONS" and that ."when taking on enemy gangs or the law, in can be invaluable to have your fellow gang members by your side"
So question is HOW is it done?
I think we need to clarify what exactly are you looking for.
Are you asking how to create a posse in Red Dead Online (within the game) to get friends or randoms to join you or recruit for a group here in these forums? If you can answer that, we would be able to better help you. I thought you were asking about the former but after Buc's response, I'm beginning to wonder it it might be the latter.

Personally? While some may relish the thought of more open PvP conflict in Free Roam, I'll wager there will be a significant amount of folks who don't.
Adding more activities in the game world is one thing but forcing conflict on players like this is another. .....and even with the protections in place, griefers will find ways to grief. They will also use this as an "open season" of sorts on all players. .....especially those who run solo, with smaller groups and/or have disadvantages as lower level players. I could also envision more reasons for them to spawn camp near mission exits, butcher shops, Dr's offices, Sheriff offices, etc. .....anywhere folks are getting paid and they can ambush.
Sorry..... I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer but I just don't see this as a way that will help mitigate griefing and in fact, it would make it worse IMO.
However, I do like the idea of bank robberies and other activities that can scratch that itch for those wanting to play the bad guy or even the good guy. I also think bounties need to carry more weight for those that indiscriminately kill or shoot at other players unprovoked. I also think "good" players should be able to play a bigger role in hunting those people as well. ....more incentives.
The robbery angle should also be lucrative for outlaws with bigger risks paying higher rewards. I wouldn't doubt that they are already looking into activities like these though as "heists". Train robberies, store robberies, petty theft, bank robberies, stage robberies, gold transports, etc. To me, that is where outlaws will come into their own and perhaps even those seeking to be lawmen.
If it pays to be bad, this may be the diversion some griefers need. ....or more importantly, what the rest of us need.
