I quit drinking a couple of years later and not just because of that story. Mods can feel free to sh!tcan this post and I wont feel slighted in the least. It's pretty mild compared to some of my other tales of drunkedness but when questions get asked, I tend to answer. 🙂
Well, this is OT and as long as you don't mind putting it out there, I (personally) don't see a need to remove it. .......unless someone decides to get too preachy and things get heated.

Thanks for the answer. But I need specifics
I don't know how much more specific I can be. Perhaps it's the language barrier.
Currently, the only way you can block players is through the Playstation Network (PSN). It even gives you the option in the game when you select the player from the list of those in your session. HOWEVER, there is no guarantee that blocking someone via PSN will prevent you from being matched with them in the game.
....so, I would use the in-game reporting feature if they are doing something they are not supposed to and block them for good measure.
With all that said, the consensus is "no", there is no way to block people from being matched with you in Free Roam. The only reason I mention that it might is because I've seen replies from Sony saying that it should so I suggest people do it anyway.
Not sure how much clearer I can make that but hope it helps.

Did you download an update ?
I havent noticed any downloads and I just want to know what version of the game I should be running and how to check if I have gotten the update or not.
As @The_Liquor mentioned, the game won't play online if you don't. ....at least not in PS4 and I believe that would be the same for XB1. On PS4 you can also click options in the game tile to see if there is an update available.

That is an annoying change..
That was the case before IIRC. I recall always having to be stopped or traveling quite slow to change outfits for instance.

I know you can block players through the PSN network but I don't believe that has anything to do with being matched with them in games. However, I had heard conflicting information from Sony on this.
All I can say is that I always block players who I had bad experiences with in RDO (after reporting them) and never had run-ins with them again after that. Now, whether that means the block worked or it was simply chance, I don't know.
Other than that, there is no way to prevent being matched with the same people again that I know of. The PSN block will also ensure that these people can't follow you, be part of your communities, send you msgs, etc. so depending on your situation, that could still help.

Yeah you really can't make friends on console anymore. I used to be able to in certain games but it is so much easier to be social on PC for most games.
I dunno..... I've made some very good friends on PS that have lasted a long time. We still game together when new games come out, keep in touch, etc.

Just to clarify once again.....
In the 1.17 TU, R* said that they had tried to address the animal spawn issue in regard to some scenarios but are still working toward a fix for all. What this means is that some may not see an improvement while perhaps some others do. .....and yeah, I'd image some may even perceive things as being worse but I think the take-away from all this is that they know about it and also have acknowledged the fact that it's still not fixed.
I still haven't seen any official patch notes from R* on 1.18 but some sources only mention "Performance and stability improvements" while others like the one linked mentioned the other items being addressed. .......but even so, they are relatively vague points and again, not necessarily suggestive of fixes for particular issues people are having.

hmm...guess not :/...
Sorry Shak....
You might want to look into some of the posse threads and see if there is one that tickles your fancy. Unfortunately, it seems some of those groups only join community forums like these to post their recruitment threads and really don't feel a desire to otherwise get involved with our members. ....a sort of tunnel vision with anything outside of their own interests / threads.
There are some active members with groups as well so personally, I would hit them up first. The thing is, a lot of folks seems to be cooling their heels right now due to some of the issues R* is working on in regard to the animal spawns, etc. A couple title updates released yesterday and today so if things look like they are on the mend, I suspect folks will start getting more involved again.

There is a locker option in RDO but unfortunately, none in the campaign as far as I'm aware.

I haven't seen the official patch notes from a R* direct source / link yet but here is what it is said to include by other sites like UpdateCrazy (https://updatecrazy.com/rdr2-update-1-18-patch-notes-read-what-is-new-and-fixed/).
I will post the official notes once available or if someone else could link to them that would be great:
RDR2 update 1.18 patch notes
- Addressed stuttering and lag issues.
- Addressed crashing issues.
- Fixed framerate drop issues.
- Performance and stability improvements.
- Added some minor under the hood fixes.
RDR2 update 1.18 is now available for download on PS4 and Xbox One.

I think this was for the console update. As far as I know, the PC version didn't get the same update so you likely got an older one. I didn't get one today or yesterday and I play on PC.

Yeah, not saying it doesn't suck. Hell, I stopped playing weeks ago mostly due to it. I also think it should have been addressed much faster than they have. ....I understand the deep disappointment and bitterness some feel.
I'm just glad many here continue to share their input, workarounds, etc. as it helps others also dealing with this problem affecting their gameplay. There's nothing wrong with venting either but (personally) unless someone from R* were here, I don't see the point carrying on about it beyond a certain point. Everyone is essentially in the same boat.
That's just my own, personal feelings about it though. Some will disagree.

So I am starting to see more animal spawns, though they are sporadic - here one minute and gone the next. I do check the player number in my lobby every time and we have been 23 or more. I’m gonna remain optimistic and keep thinking that they are working on the balancing behind the scenes and the 1.17 patch was done to allow them to get the bugs for animals and dynamic events worked out. I’m also hoping that they were able to figure out what happened when they added the moonshiner role so that when we get the next big update it won’t happen again. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Fyi.... There's nothing about dynamic events in the patch notes. Just talks about the animal spawns and possibly fixing the issue for some. .....we'll have to see what future patches will do to (hopefully) correct the issue for everyone.
-
btw, I included this TU info in the Animal Spawn thread as well as that is really all this patch is for (to partially fix for some).
I'm leaving this here for now as I think it's important that folks know what the patch was for. When I get to computer I'll add the date to the title like the updates so it's more visible to people. .....and then I'll add it to the sticky, update reference.
Thanks to you and @HuDawgfor making us aware of it

Here is some news @HuDawg mentioned in another thread I thought I would paste up here as well.
Please note that this patch is not a fix for all with this issue. This is supposed to address it for some. Who those people are or the circumstances is unknown. If there is any good news in this for those still having the problem is that they are aware it is still an issue and are working to resolve across all platforms.
I'm just saying this before some people start making accusations, assumptions, etc. We're all affected by this and it sucks. No one is saying otherwise. ....so let's keep sharing useful feedback, tips and help each other out. Thanks.
RDR2 Title Update 1.17 Notes (PS4 / Xbox One)
[February 13, 2020] – General Fixes – (PS4 / Xbox One)
- Improvements to reduce issues with ambient wildlife populations in certain Red Dead Online sessions. Ongoing improvements are underway to reduce these issues across all platforms.

Here is exactly what was mentioned in the 1.17 TU patch notes so there is no misunderstanding in regard to the animal spawn "fixes". Its obvious that this is still a work in progress.

Thanks. Here are the details for anyone not willing to check the link or otherwise unable. In all fairness, they didn't say they expected this to fix the issue comoletely. They do mention certain sessions and that they are still working on it. I just want to make that clear so we don't get a flood of complaints from folks thinking they said otherwise:

The whole state of panic the media puts people in should be against the law. Like I seen people acting like complete idiots over this virus. Some people even were being racist against Chinese immigrants and visitors over it. Like what the hell is wrong with people?
.....and funny enough, it's the same media taking those relatively isolated incidents of "racism" and making it seem widespread so then it becomes more of an issue in people's minds. ......fuel on the fire.
As for the virus, yes, the media plays their part in making people panic but it also should be of concern to people. It's not necessarily the mortality rate of the virus itself but the resulting complications it can cause based on a myriad of other individual factors. Yes, the elderly are more susceptible but so are a lot of other people with lung problems (e.g. history of pneumonia, asthma, etc.), folks that are or have been recently ill, etc. For those with a compromised immune system, it doesn't necessarily mean having AIDS or some severe disease, cancer, etc.
Also, seemingly healthy folks can die from complications of viruses like pneumonia. My pulmonologist lost his friend who died from that after getting the flu. Very athletic and very healthy otherwise. .....stuff happens.
This season is already particularly bad flu season. I've been warned that that there are now two flus to watch out for (I already got one last year and had pneumonia myself). I can't afford to get another and certainly not something like this new coronavirus which seems to target people's respiratory systems (it had been compared to SARS which is something no one should simply shrug off).
.....btw, the doctor who initially raised awareness of this new virus died from it last week. .....he was just 34 years old.
This virus is spreading like wildfire over in China and cases are popping over here on the west coast. Personally, I'm glad the U.S. government with agencies like the CDC are taking the spread seriously and doing what they can to minimize the exposure of our citizens.
.....so no, I don't think it's being blown out of proportion in that sense but of course, the media will always try to sensationalize stories to make things sound worse than they really are. In short, I wouldn't just shrug this off but folks should use a little common sense to cut through the media BS.

Things like this can give players a reason to play so in that sense, it could be worth it to those looking for a goal and rewards along the way. ......which pretty much sums up most players of games like these I'd imagine.

Wait, they are killing online for a few hours?
So, are we to be expecting an update of sorts or something? Oh God... Please let it be fixing the animal spawns finally!!! PLEASE! lol
....this is why I ask for sources from people.
I haven't heard anything about this myself until this post. I wouldn't assume anything until there is more information but even if it is true, it may not mean anything in regard to the implementation of hotfixes, etc.

Well, if you're playing the campaign, it doesn't really matter since you can play offline. .....unless you mean RDO (this is in the single player section).
Also, I'm assuming this was something shared by R* (that everything is going down) tomorrow morning. .....source for others benefit who may be affected?

Thanks. I was wondering as I'm subscribed to their Twitter feed and news feeds, etc. I didn't recall hearing about that specifically is all.
