  1. The campaign is really stocked with content and if you don't rush and explore the various side missions / activities, it will take you a long time to finish the game.  ....so for me, a couple extra activities, etc. is likely not worth the extra amount especially if you have no interest in the rest of it.

Remember, there is also the online portion where you can essentially start your own story for your own character in the RDR2 game world.

  2. If that the case and the game doesn't allow the change, it could very well be because they considered this about losing the clothing.  .....especially since some of these items can be bought with gold and therefore real money.  They probably just didn't want to deal with the hassle of people requesting refunds for clothing they bought, exchanges for ladies / mens clothes, etc.

  3. For those who haven't read the article posted on 9/27 in this forum, I would suggest you do.  It offers more insight into the future of RDO like properties:

    Quote

“We want to introduce properties at some point in the future,” Butchard admits. “Again, part of the reason is we don’t want to jump the shark too soon. We want players to live like an outlaw, live in the Wild West. We don’t want to abandon the camp. We want the camp to be something that you take care of, and we want the expansions to update it, and you get your own distinct feel. It’s your own camp, this is my camp, it’s their camp. We don’t want to leave that behind too quickly.”

Roles are also discussed at some length including the possibility of delving deeper into the dishonorable path (@James Hickok_1837):

    Quote

“We want to scratch that itch for all different types of players,” Butchard explains. “There’s so many different types – those who like playing a villain, or those who want to play the hero. We’ve got to look at that as well, and try and conform to that, if we can, with new builds. Let’s just say that the idea of playing dishonorably may not necessarily be limited to activities related to Bounty Hunting. Right now in Frontier Pursuits we don’t have a role that focuses on a dishonorable path, but each role works with the players ability to manage their honor in Red Dead Online, and it’s something we want to keep building on – so the opportunity is there for future roles that let the player lean even further into their honorable and dishonorable side.”

    Here's the article:

    https://www.vg247.com/2019/09/27/red-dead-online-future-heists-villain-lawmen-business/

The fact of the matter is that there is much more to come and as Scott Butchard (R*) mentions in this interview:

    Quote

........but none of this is set in stone, we’re still absorbing the feedback from players from these initial roles and we will see how we can improve upon these ideas as we go.

I can't stress enough how important your feedback is to this process.  Many changes have been made thus far as a direct result of community feedback which is why I may sound like a broken record but firmly believe the importance of people submitting their ideas, suggestions, etc. to R* here:

  4. Graphics stuttering or stalling in Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC

    Created November 14, 2019Updated November 14, 2019
    FollowPrint

Question: The graphics in Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC stutter or stall for several seconds when playing, how can I fix it?

Answer: We have identified an issue with certain NVIDIA graphics card drivers that cause significant stalls of several seconds on systems with 4-core and 6-core CPUs. While we work with NVIDIA to improve driver performance, a temporary work around can be added to the launch arguments of the game to re-balance workload on the CPU cores and avoid the conditions that cause this issue.

Note: This workaround might slightly change performance in towns on some of the hardware configurations. We will review the scheme following future graphics card driver updates.

    Rockstar Games Launcher

    1. Disable any custom workarounds for this issue, including Process Lasso or BES
    2. Start the Rockstar Games Launcher
    3. Select Settings
    4. Under My installed Games Select Red Dead Redemption 2
    5. Scroll down to Launch arguments
    6. Add the following command

      -cpuLoadRebalancing

    7. Select Games
    8. Launch Red Dead Redemption 2

Look, pls look at it from the point of view of the paying customer, if we get notices about "fixes" we as an excited and enthusiastic bunch get hopeful such that if our issues aren't fixed, we get disappointed. That's all there is to it. I'm not cursing to the high heavens nor asking for a refund, i love the game and so do a lot of gamers. All i'm saying is it's frustrating. That's all. But i appreciate your prompt replies. It's proper. Thank you.

Not sure if you're aware but I am a paying customer like you.  RDR2.org is a fan site that isn't affiliated with R* or Take Two in any way.  There are no R* representatives that interact openly on these forums.

I get the frustration and that people want to share that here and that's fine.  We encourage folks to participate.  .....but we don't need multiple posts or threads stating the same argument which was my point.

I'm just trying to help the PC folks out by posting the latest news and updates regarding some of these issues.  I'm trying to avoid people having to wade through all of that just to get to the information that might actually be helpful to resolving their problems.

I hope that clears things up.

Not that it is related but I had an "0x2......" error tonight when I normally don't encounter them.  I'm on PS4 although perhaps there was some kind of maintenance being performed?

EDIT: I'd also check this thread out as one of those solutions may work for you.  Different error but who knows.

  11. Reposting what was in the link since the text in the OPs post was a little tough to read with the grey on grey text.

WARNING: Disabling DEP can be dangerous. The issue is, RDR2.exe is a 64-bit program, so we can't add an exception for it within the DEP settings. It would need to be disabled. But that's bad news, because DEP is what helps protect Windows programs from being exploited. It tries to only let programs access portions of system memory that they're supposed to access, and nothing more.

When an application tries to access system memory that it shouldn't have access to, or inject information into that system memory, DEP will reject that access, likely causing a fault in the application.

Also, disabling it makes your system more vulnerable by several magnitudes to memory injection exploits. So, all of that being said, you really shouldn't disable DEP, as the game accessing portions of system memory that it's not supposed to could cause corruptions in your system, or in the game itself, causing other faults and issues. It might help keep your game from crashing, but I really don't think it's worth disabling it.

The other issue is, is that even if we disable DEP, it doesn't mean the poor coding in RDR2 isn't going to still cause a crash. It just means that DEP won't be the reason anymore. Something else down the line will fail instead. RDR2 is still accessing system memory that it shouldn't and corrupting it, causing faults in the application, and if it is accessing system memory that it shouldn't, it could corrupt other applications or systems resources, which could send you down a whole other rabbit hole of issues to address.

So, all-in-all, this is good information to know, and hopefully Rockstar devs have figured it out and are working on the code, but there's honestly nothing we can do to fix it. That's up to Rockstar at this point. And if I know Rockstar, and I think I do, they're pretty slow at patching their games. But who knows, maybe all of the negative media and outcry on the internet will light a fire under their collective asses. They have to be hemorrhaging money at this point with all of the refunds.

Something we CAN do is everyone send in a support ticket outlining the information here, asking to have it sent to the developers. If they haven't figured it out (I'm sure they have), then at least we maybe accomplished something with this information.

Besides, I've had a lot of luck simply setting RDR2.exe priority to "High" in Task Manager: Task Manager > Details Tab > RDR2.exe > Priority > High

As far as what to look for when your game is crashing, per instructions here, I found this information:

You may have to go into Event Viewer and sift through the logs for Event ID 1000. If you find one, it may look like this:

    • Event ID : 1000 - DEP Error : Generic Host Process for Win32 Services - DEP :

    • Application Error

    • Event Type: Error

    • Event Source: Application Error

    • Event Category: (100)

    • Event ID: 1000

This is the RDR2.exe error for when it crashes:

Thanks to u/wungobungo521 for pointing this out.

  12. It also said this which I repeated in the two other posts you made about this:

"However, we are still currently working together with Nvidia to completely resolve the stuttering issue in a future update and it may take us up to a few days to properly test everything and ensure the next update completely solves the problem."

I'm not saying your stuttering issues will be fixed in the next few days then the next update hits but let's be honest here about what they actually said.

As for the other issues, I would definitely report them to R* Support.  Let them know that the problems started after the last patch, etc.

Thank you for your very thoughtful and detailed reply. I genuinely appreciate it. Thanks to you, I now understand parlay and other game mechanics that I didn't understand before.

    No problem.

Let me clarify a couple of things that people have missed or misunderstood about my post. I don't mind if another player kills my character. What I do mind very much is that they kill my horse. It would take far too long and be too personal to explain this, but I don't play RDO for the game. I play it for the horse. So my big question about parlay is this: what happens to your horse while you are in parlay mode? I have two horses and have insurance on both, but it is still genuinely painful to me when they die. Yes, they are just pixels in a computer, but again, there are personal reasons why this matters a great deal to me.

I can't say I relate to your situation but I can understand some folks creating real life connections in games I guess.

As for Parley, I believe your horse is also protected but just as important is the fact that your are spawned away from the immediate area when activated allowing you to escape.  Without it, you will be spawned near the site where you were attacked and still within striking distance of your aggressors.

The other thing I wanted to get across is that this game mixes players of all levels without providing any substantive protection -- or maybe the better word is separation -- between new and low-level players, and much higher level players. I don't know where the cutoff should be, but new and low-level players should have the ability to totally opt out of all pvp until they reach a certain level. If they wish to participate, that's fine, but they should be able to opt out. I just got to level 40 tonight, so maybe that's why I think 40 would  be a good level to remove that protection. 40 is when you can get the third passive card. I have two cards at level 3, so now have some reasonable self-protection, plus I now know enough about weapons, food, tonics and how to protect my horse.

Personally, I think your too fixated on the level thing.  It really doesn't have that big of an impact on the gameplay IMO / IME.  Sure, weapon selection is a little limited at first but it doesn't take long at all to get a decent rifle and shotgun to help defend yourself.  .....then better weapons as you progress.  ....and more lethal ammo, etc.

I've been playing since the game released and I wasn't lying when I talked earlier about how little we had in the way of protection from griefers.  However, even back then my encounters with trolls were few and far between.  A lot of that had to do with how I interacted in the game world as I explained.  I saw people back then get frustrated and we even had several big threads about it where some of us shared tips and tricks, suggestions, etc. to help players mitigate the problem.

These days, a lot of the anti-griefing measures have really helped like the proximity blips, Defensive Mode, improved hostility system, the revised parley, penalties, etc.  You have to remember that there is also the option to join a posse with friends or even randoms.  ....not that I think that is necessary because with the anti-griefing features, good situational awareness and some proactive techniques / tactics, folks really shouldn't have that much of a problem.

....just realize that it can happen but be prepared to move on and don't give the trolls the benefit of your time.  .....unless of course you want to.

sorry, but the patch doesn't fix the stuttering, at least not for me...
