No penalty for target for jumping.  But you'll spend more than 5 minutes loading in and (maybe) setting up a camp again.

I just ride the RR tracks when targeted.  Never been caught, and in 5 minutes I get their reward.

Although now i hardly ever see it, when I do it's a level 12 or something. Seeing people doing stranger missions is rare since the roles update. I.M.E.

That's what I've done as well the few times I had been targeted. I just hit the tracks and take off.  Most would give up right away or shortly thereafter. One continued to pursue so I set up on that really long, high RR bridge (not sure if you know which one I'm talking about) and sniped my attackers as they came across. ...they stopped chasing me too.

IME, it was always easy enough to get away but back then, I was also able to use the companion app until they neutered it.

  2. Please don't create multiple threads on the same topic. Also, please post PC-specific posts in this PC subforum.  I would appreciate it as it helps you, me and keeps the forums a bit tidier.

Thanks for posting the solution you found as well.   Some folks will post a problem, find an answer and then not share that information.  I appreciate that you did.

I don't do them. when I first started playing online I did one and straight away it became a feud, we spent the next few hours killing each other, real waste of time. I think Rockstar should stop them as they can lead to all sorts of trouble, the other player doesn't know it's for a mission and you can't very well tell him lol. Stop em I say.

    Odin

Well, they improved it over time IIRC as the player assassination were supposed to choose targets that were supposedly more hostile than others more often than not.

Quite frankly, I haven't had an issue with it and can't remember the last time me or my posse were targeted.  I also don't recall how Defensive Mode was supposed to factor into this as well so that could have something to do with it.

Yeah... I’ve managed to avoid spending money on horses so far with the PS4 freebies... I mean, part of me wants to experiment with other horses, but as soon as I get some cash in my pocket I tend to spend it like a drunken sailor on shore leave...

    Same here.

Horses in RDO are not the same as cars in GTAO in regard to their impact IMO.  ......once you get to a certain level of quality.

I still use the Chestnut Arabian I got for free with the PS4 exclusive deal.  I always have the intention of buying a new horse but it just never happens when I get online.  .....I either end up forgetting about or just not wanting to bother.

If I am killed by a player and looted, do I lose all my cash and items?

No. It's not like GTAO where you lose the cash that's on you, etc.  You retain those items you have on you although you could potentially lose other things, or have your horse killed so you have to recall it, etc.

Other players are not able to loot your body.  You will respawn away from the immediate area when killed.

Thank ye kindly.  I am a (now retired/disabled) old historical re-enactor for the Old West and Civil War. Now that health won't allow me to be active anymore, this game looks to be a dream come true. Looking forward to it.

    That sounds interesting.

I'm semi-retired myself from working life.  Gaming has been a past time for me for decades. I think you'll really enjoy RDR2 although I would recommend playing the campaign / SP portion first before delving into online.

I am no expert (just informed by the wife that this game is coming as a possibly early Christmas present, with my promise I'd shut up about it already LOL)......

Cool deal. I'm sure you'll enjoy the game and welcome to the forums.

  8. .....and thats pretty much what it boils down to.

I'm sorry but it sounds like some want the ability to reap the benefits of these missions without the risk.

Long distance deliveries are meant to be more challenging by introducing rival players but they also encourage people to play as a team.

Posse up if you want to even the odds. .....or use the option R* provided to soloists looking to avoid conflict and do local deliveries.

Alright, that's good enough reason for you, which is for many people that want PS4 compatibility as a selling point!

Well, I'm not looking to convince anyone to buy a PS5 or Scarlett.  Get what you want is what I tell people.  My network of friends are buying PS5s so that's another reason for me. I have zero interest in finding close friends like that again on a new platform.  There are other reasons too why I want to stick with Sony and I'm sure a lot of good reasons folks stick with one or the other themselves.

People also speculated that the PS4 Pro version would be the version to go to since they used it to show the trailer! Al those PS4 fanboys where laughing at the Xbox One X fanboys, that said they would get 4K textures! Now it has shut them up and the truth has proven them wrong!

Seems you are bitter about your experiences with Sony and the PS4 / Pro.  ....which is fine.  You seem really convinced about the Scarlett so I would say go for it.

I'll be quite honest that I have absolutely no interest in "fanboy" arguments, console wars, PC vs. console elitism, etc.  It's all seems rather silly and childish to me as do the "I told you so" responses some people relish in, etc.

I don't care if someone thinks I am making a bad decision with a purchase of one or the other and to be quite frank, I simply can't understand why they would unless they are somehow insecure in their own decision(s).  My advice would be to ignore the fanboys and just purchase the system you want and know you will enjoy.  You seem to be pretty well versed on what we might expect on these platforms so I would just buy what you want and to hell with what others say about your choice.

  10. I don't really get into all that speculation when it comes to next gen consoles before the details are actually confirmed.

The fact of the matter for me is that I'll be playing PS4 titles up to and after the PS5's release and the since the PS5 will be backward compatible with PS4 games (one of the few specs that seems to be closest to being confirmed), that's a big reason for me (personally) to stick with Sony.

Quite frankly, I don't really care about some of those other specifications that might make the Scarlett a little better platformer visually, etc.  ....or vice versa.  I also don't play PS3 titles anymore and never owned the PS2 or PS1.  .....but the PS4 compatibility is a big selling point for me.

As for remakes, I dunno how that will be affected this time around.  I don't see them doing it with titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Death Stranding, etc. or perhaps even les recent titles like RDR2.  .....at least for a long while.

The PS4 wasn't backward compatible due to the differences in the the PS3 architecture apparently.  That isn't the case with the PS5 in regard to the outgoing PS4. How this will affect remakes of PS4 titles on PS5, I don't know but if the PS5 versions are different enough, I might just pull the trigger.

....then there are PS4 title sales on PS5 to consider.  I'll wager the backward compatibility may serve to further boost PS5 sales earlier in its life as PS4 owners that may have not considered upgrading because they couldn't play their current titles may end up buying the PS5 earlier than they would.   .....or over the Scarlett since their old titles are still playable.

  12. Doesn't the options have a page showing which keys / controls are bound to what?  Also, there is a way to remap the keybinds, etc. like in GTAV apparently:

    https://twinfinite.net/2019/11/red-dead-redemption-2-pc-controls-remap-keybinds-controls-how/

If you still can't find what you're looking for in the menus, I would suggest submitting a trouble ticket with R* Support and / or feedback through their Feedback site suggesting they publish this information or direct you to where you can find it:

    https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadonline/feedback?redirect_lang=en_us

.....or perhaps someone can chime in a direct folks to a site what has them listed.

    Crash…crash…error…ctd…play, then crash….play crash play…

I Always supported RS and their western games but they screwed up the PC version

Lost THOUSANDS of in Game Dollars for crashes during gameplay

Payed for most complete and most expensive version

They need to solve the CTD, FREEZE, CRASHES issues ASAP !

...and pay back us players with tons of free GOLD for our patience...expecially we Early Buyers with most expensive version !

My suggestion would be to let R* know this via their Feedback and Support sites:

Too bad everyime i wrote at that link no one gives a ****. and all ive said to it was wasted time no one ever gave  a sh*t

    sad but thanks anyways

The feedback link allows you to submit your feedback (e.g. likes, dislikes, suggestions, etc.).  You will never receive a response when submitting feedback.  That's not the way it works.  Besides, what would you expect them to say besides a canned response they would give everyone?   ...."Thank you for your submission.  We review all feedback and appreciate your contribution".

Don't think that the feedback doesn't matter because it does.  In fact, many of the changes made since the beta for RDO were a direct result of this feedback.  .....and just because your particular idea isn't implemented doesn't mean that they don't care or think it's a bad idea but perhaps it's just not that popular?

....so, use the Feedback site if you want or don't if you think you're wasting your time.  In either case, I doubt you will ever get a personal response acknowledging your request for these items and a confirmation that they'll be included.  That's just not the way it works.    The fact of the matter is that if enough people submit the same or similar ideas, then it may likely be included in the game at some point.   ......but if no one submits these suggestions then nothing will get done, right?

    Thanks!

I got my lasso out and naturally a cougar jumped me lol. I have to get more familiar with what keys bring up what weapons.

A friend has started this game too and just advised me to go back and do the single player story first to learn things and THEN do the online so.. I am off to try that now

That is excellent advice and what R* recommends as well.  In fact, part of the reason they delayed to the released of RDO with the console was to allow some time for players to get immersed and enjoy the campaign first.

For some reason a think a good portion of folks jump right in to online with the idea that if they don't, they'll be left behind, etc.

  16. You don't use dead eye looking for herbs. You use Eagle Eye or simply look for them without it.

With Eagle Eye, they will appear in fields with columns of highlight firefly's if sort rising above them.

....sorry, don't know the functions on PC.

EDIT: looks like @The_Liquor beatme to it. :)

use a Controller - is better for the game

......that's not really what the OP was asking though.

Ummmm.. all that said 'use a controller'?

I would take up @NastyNatives offer and play with them so they can show you the ropes. You learn so much that way about the game IMO/IME.

  18. You've got a knife, right?

Just off the top of my head....  You can kill someone and steal their money. You can trample on fish in the shallows of rivers and collect them in the water or as they wash up on shore. You can get up close and kill animals in a pen on farms.

Obviously, some of those actions come with consequences of their own.

.....or how about this....  Pick herbs and sell them to the doc / shop. There's plenty of them and you can get enough money to buy some ammo so you can hunt.

Build up your ammo next time and keep an eye on it.

So a forums that needs approval. We can not be so critical or any negatives thoughts about the game?

The owner turned it on at one point because we were getting overwhelmed by spammers, etc. and it's been working great.

It has nothing to do with people sharing negative or critical opinions about the game so feel free to do so. ....as long as it's done in a civil manner and follows the rules obviiusly.
