lease keep in mind when posting that we are a fan site and not affiliated with Rockstar Games or TakeTwo. We are simply fans like you of the game. However, we do have a knowledgeable community here with all kinds of backgrounds and experience. Chances are, someone might have the same problem as you and possibly even a solution or helpful advice.
Also, we would encourage you to submit a trouble ticket with Rockstar if you are having problems with the game. Even with known issues it's important that people continue to submit their reports with R* as it might help provide them with an idea of what the problem may be and perhaps even expedite a fix. Try to be as descriptive as possible in your feedback.
Below is the link to the Rockstar Support site. Responses are typically within 24 hrs during the week IME but I believe they ask to allow 48:

Hi @Trespasser and welcome to the forums.

Hi @Hexton and welcome to the forums.
The reason you may have received 60 views with no responses is simply no one having the answer for you.
Personally, I would be persistent with R* Support if this is an issue with the game. I would check the sticky thread occasionally that I created for more updates on hotfixes, solutions, etc. that may be announced. .....or subscribe to R* Support's Twitter feed so you are kept up to date.
I wish I could help but I have no idea to be honest.

I know someone who was having this issue as well but it seems to have worked for him since then. I think it was an issue with the Rockstar launcher.
If you look at my post just above yours, R* had fixed some issues with the launcher earlier this afternoon so that could be why in your friends scenario.

Hi @Voltakid and welcome to the forums.
Just a little advice..... You may want to craft a more clear explanation of what you are seeking assistance with (e.g. including details, a clearer description of your scenario, etc.). It also goes a long way in encouraging others to chime in as they are more likely to help those willing to help themselves.
What you wrote is a little cryptic to say the least.

I'll be running the game at the medium settings with my Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT NITRO+ 8GB GDDR6 some won't even be able to do that, even the RTX 2080 Ti at over a £1000 wouldn't be enough to run the game at the ultra settings at 4k', hopefully we might be able with stadia.
As far as I can see, hardware has little to do with it. It's all about connection speed / performance. Hell, you can run games via a Chromecast Ultra @ 4K and a Stadia controller from the looks of it. As long as your TV/monitor is compatible with the features (e.g. 4K, HDR, etc.) and the device you are using to stream to it, you're good to go I would imagine. The processing power in relation to running the game is supposedly all on their end.
....of course, we have to wait to see how well all that works in practice once it arrives.

ok. that's it. i was mainly confused because i didn't even expected to be limited on areas while on a mission.
but it's solved. thanks a lot
that's the problem of starting this expecting it to be just GTA on horses 🙂
Even GTAO had a solo tutorial you had to muddle through before being able to join friends online. It's just sort of an orientation to get you used to some of the mechanics before releasing you into the wild.
Glad to hear your all sorted now. I'll move this to the RDO forum since it was progression related rather than a PC related problem.
-
Hi @NeKryXe and welcome to the forums.
I would suggest watching one of the many tutorials from YT, articles, etc. In fact, I found one with a quick search that might help. Fast forward to the 29:30 mark. That is where he opens the treasure chest, gets the countdown timer and then realizes he must equip the ability card.
The beginning of RDO is more of a tutorial. It is an open world game that provides you with essentially complete freedom once you get past the hand-holding parts:
If this resolves your issue then please let me know. I will move this from the PC forum to the RDO forum which would be more appropriate for progression / mode questions & answers.
It's been a year for me since I started out so I don;t have your answer myself. I have to rely on these tutorials and past posts / threads for answers.

I would encourage folks with problems to also submit a trouble ticket via the R* Support page here:

Yeah sorry, I didn't see your post until after I posted that update. I will open a ticket
I'm playing with a friend, and he has bad framerate at the same time as me.
Hopefully they will tell you that it's a know issue and they are working on it. .....or at least that many others are reporting the problem as well as that might indicate that a fix will be incoming soon.
I kinda figured there would be teething problems like this given the multitude of hardware combinations, etc. Maybe it's simply due to the amount of traffic today? I hope it gets sorted soon for you either way.

Just became 5fps again. Annoying. Was standing still not doing anything with 60fps, then boom 5fps.
....did you open a ticket? That's what I would do while you're waiting for other replies. If you have video evidence, that would be even better when you submit the case.

Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC exited unexpectedly
Question: What can I do if Red Dead Redemption 2 crashes on launch with the error "Red Dead Redemption 2 Exited Unexpectedly"?
Answer: The most common cause of this error is out of date graphics drivers.
Update your graphics drivers
NVIDIA owners should update their graphics driver version to 441.12 or above in the GeForce Experience app, or manually using this link: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx
AMD owners should update their graphics driver version to 19.11.1 or above in the Radeon Software app, or manually using this link: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
Run RDR2.exe as an administrator
- Open the Rockstar Games Launcher
- Select Settings
- Select Red Dead Redemption 2 under My installed games
- Select Open under View Installation Folder
- Right-Click on RDR2
- Select Properties
- Under the Compatibility Tab
- Select Run this Program as an Administrator and Disable Full Screen Optimization
- Click OK
- Return to the Games Menu in the Rockstar Games Launcher
- Launch the game

Hi Catz and welcome to the forums.
If you continue to have issues, I would suggest submitting a trouble ticket with R* Support here:
Also, please note that there are new drivers from nVidia and AMD that you might want to download if you haven't already (if applicable obviously):

RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 NOW AVAILABLE FOR PC
We're proud to announce that Red Dead Redemption 2 is now available for the PC. The first game in the Red Dead Redemption series to be featured on the PC platform, Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC debuts with a range of graphical and technical enhancements to bring new life and detail to the story of Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang, on the run from the law across America in the final days of the 19th Century.
“I’m not going to pretend to be able to break down how the electronic sorcery Rockstar has used to update the already stunning lighting effects from the console version works. The end result, though, is that the world simply looks more natural. From the way fog causes an eerie glow to cover the sky when sun shines through it, or sweatier faces boast a more noticeable reflective sheen, leafy shadows flutter about the woods, or the way lamp and torchlight flickers in someone’s eyes, the already-vibrant world manages to pull you into it just that much further.” – IGN
"Everything in the game, both in action and in static scenes within the photo mode, looked absolutely incredible during my session… Arthur looked so detailed that I felt as if I could reach out and wipe away the mud caked on his face." – Polygon
"The combination of 60fps performance and mouselook significantly changes the way the game feels to play, which to me matters more than visual improvements to a game that looked great already." – PC Gamer
“Red Dead Redemption 2 is shaping up to be an essential purchase for anyone whose gaming machine of choice is a PC...it's to have another chance to hang out with my imaginary husband, Arthur, and partly because it's one of the best looking games I've ever seen on a monitor.” – GamesRadar
Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC is optimized to take full advantage of the platform with new graphical and technical enhancements, including increased draw distances for better navigation, higher quality global illumination and ambient occlusion for improved day and night lighting, support for high-end display setups with 4K resolution and beyond, multi-monitor configurations, widescreen configurations, faster frame rates, higher resolution shadows, improved textures and much more.
In addition to all the technical enhancements, Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC features new updates to the game’s Story Mode, including:
- 3 New Bounty Hunter Missions: Apprehend a trio of wanted fugitives - thief Herman Zizendorf, Ex-Confederate Officer Camille de Millemont and gang leader Bart Cavanaugh.
- 2 New Gang Hideouts: Take on the deadly Del Lobos gang at Gaptooth Breach and Solomon’s Folly.
- 2 New Treasure Maps: Hunt for treasures across the new Landmarks of Riches and The Elemental Trail maps for Gold Bars and other rewards.
- New “To The Ends of The Earth” Mission
- A host of new Weapons, Horses and Trinkets to collect.
Plus, Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC includes a new Photo Mode, with an assortment of tools to unlock the beauty of the frontier in Story Mode. Capture images with free form camera movement and add Filters, Stickers or Text then upload them to Social Club to share with the community.
Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC also features Red Dead Online, the robust and continuously evolving world that includes numerous different ways to make your way in the last vestiges of the wild west:
- Frontier Pursuits: Carve your own path as a Bounty Hunter, Trader and Collector, each provide their own distinctive experiences where you can unlock new items, benefits and skills as you progress.
- A Land of Opportunities: Multi-part, story-based cooperative missions for two to four players where you assist the recently widowed Jessica LeClerk and her right-hand man Horley in their quest for revenge against the men who killed her husband.
- Free Roam Missions: Find Stranger icons throughout the map alone or with your Posse to embark on Free Roam Missions where you’ll encounter familiar faces from Story Mode and discover missions that can vary based on how noble or nefarious you are.
- Showdown Modes: A series of competitive modes where players and teams compete in classic gunfights and objective-based endeavors like capturing territory or supplies.
- Poker and More: Visit poker tables at towns and outposts across the map to participate in public or private games of Hold ‘Em. Plus, complete Daily Challenges to earn Gold Nuggets and XP, put your skills to the test against other players in competitive Free Roam Events, and more.
And keep an eye out for ongoing updates to the world of Red Dead Online - like new game modes, additions to the Wheeler, Rawson and Co. Catalogue, weekly bonuses and more. For more details, visit the Red Dead Online site.

Yeah, because they " love a good single player experience, more so than a multiplayer one," right? 😒
Not the point I was making but yeah, ok. I thought they delivered an amazing and robust solo experience with the campaign and I've enjoyed the online too.
To me, RDR2 was well worth the purchase price alone and one of the best SP games I've played on PS4. .....but I get not everyone will feel the same.

Something to keep in mind is that R* considers RDO the continuation of the game and where all DLC is released via.
The campaign is robust & complete and divetails straight into the story told in RDR1 (which picks up where RDR2 leaves off).
RDO is intended to open up the game world to the player where they can now enter the story as themselves. You are intended to be the continuation of the RDR2 and that is where the expansion is focused on.

First, I would suspect R* Support is quite busy sorting teething problems with the PC release. I would expect responses may be a little slower than usual during this time.
When did you contact them anyway?
