GTAO for consoles and PC are their own worlds. You can't transfer between the two, so I doubt it will allowed for RDO.
There is (or was) literally a "Character Transfer" option in the Online menu in GTAV that allows you to do just that through the R* Social Club. ....at least they did. I honestly don't recall if that option is still available though as I do remember hearing info they were going to be cutting it off at some point.

Well, there is typically no intended "end game" in these types of titles. It's all about content to help keep them thriving. A lot of people hate MTXs but without them, the games would not exist past a certain point. .......but that's never a sure thing either because without good, continual content to maintain an attractive product, players won't stick around.
In R* games like GTAO and especially RDO, they are supposed to be environments where players interact and continue to develop / grow their characters. GTAO has been running for 6 years now is one of the most (if not the most) successful GaaS model in the industry. There are no signs of it ending anytime soon so obviously, people still feel attracted to the game and what it continues to offer.
In a recent interview with R*, they discussed the future of RDO and it's content. We can look forward to expansion of the existing roles including new ones. As for what to spend your money on, they are looking at introducing things like properties, businesses, etc. Heists are good possibilities as well. I can see a lot of these things intermingling but also as brand new seperate opportunities.
There is no "end game" in RDO. People play because they enjoy the gameplay experience. As long as folks have a reason to stick with or keep coming back to RDO, they will. R* is clever in that respect as they typically offer new incentives to people in the form of weekly bonuses, daily challenges, etc. .....and with the new roles, we are now seeing weekly bounties, collectables, etc. ....a page from the GTAO playbook.
....and remember, new content is always added so the gameworld simply keeps expanding. RDO will be very different in a year than it is right now. It will feel much more robust as it does now by comparison to when it released.

Are they going to increase the roll levels or add new roles?
Most definitely. They said as much in a recent interview regarding expansion of roles and the introduction of new ones .....also properties, etc.

That would be nice to play the older games although I am not sure after seeing "ray tracing" (like I know what that means) I could go back to the present standards. It's like playing the original RDD currently on my PS3 with its slow response and clunky graphics. In its day, I couldnt imagine that gaming could get any better. Low and behold, 10 years later, I feel like I am playing Doom on a 486 computer. It's still a great game but I would much rather be playing a remastered version on a PS4 or PS5. The older games wont have the newer tech built into them to take advantage of the new features. I would imagine playing a PS3 game would play the same on a PS5.
You're right about some PS4 titles that look interesting. My cynic nature tells me that these games might not show up until about the same time as the new gen of consoles show up. (Remember the year delay with Red Dead 2?) I am pretty good at waiting for things but I'm also 70 freaking years old!
That being said, I'll probably be the old fart standing in line behind you at Best Buy. Just 2 old guys with gaming boners hoping they wont run out PS5's.😛
Well, I think it will be a while after PS5's release before we begin to feel these latest PS4 games feel that dated. It will take time for the new titles designed to take advantage of PS5s features come to market.
I also notice how games tend to take a while to "ramp up" in terms of quality after a while compared to earlier titles on the same console. It seems to take some time before games arrive that really take advantage of the new hardware.
In other words, I don't expect it to be an instant shock as you might compare PS3 titles to PS4 right now if you get what I mean. It will take at least a little while before we get there IMO / IME. Also, without a replacement for games like RDR2 on PS5, it will still remain relevant to me until there is.

I was PC gamer for 20 years before I went to a PS3 console. Part of the fun was building the rigs to play the games until it reached the point where every new game required a hardware or software upgrade to play it. If it wasnt a memory upgrade, then it would be a video card upgrade. If not that, then a faster processor and new motherboard. Direct X was always a PIA, As time moved on, overclocking and cooling fans were the rage. Bigger monitors, Kleptch 5.1 sound systems and on and on. It got stupid when maybe one good game a year got ported to PCs and all the rest were console games.
It was huge relief when I finally gave into console gaming. Just plug it in, throw in a disc and go to it on 60 inch screen.
My history is nearly identical to yours with the advent of PC's popularity during the 80's. Before that was consoles of the time and arcades. ......many, many arcades.
My reasons for switching to the PS3 was the same. .....tired of the bi-yearly upgrades, etc. It's nice to be able to plop down on the couch with a controller, turn on the big screen and start gaming.
15 minutes ago, buttlint said:Now, it seems like I am in the same position as before. PS4 was released in 2013. My main motivation for buying it was RDR2. I did get some joy out of Fallout 4 and a little less from Farcry 5, but other than those, the rest was filler. Until the PS5 is here, I dont expect any companies will be releasing anything good until then. With the apparent death of single player, stand alone games impending, I dont know if I am in on that.
Actually, there are quite a few AAA titles coming next year being developed for the current gen consoles. Among them are titles like The Last of Us II, Watch Dogs: Legion and Cyberpunk 2077.
The thing is, I think the backward compatibility of the PS5 will also help as PS4 games (including those currently being developed) will be playable on the new console when it arrives at the end of 2020. ....and btw, the 3 I listed are also games that can be played solo (2 of them possibly with only that option).
Solo isn't as dead as some of the media had thought IMO and some of those companies / franchises that bought into obviously realized their mistake when they tried to cut those elements out of their games. Obviously some PvP-only games will still be wildly successful regardless but I believe some interpret that as evidence that MP-only is the wave of the future. .....not in all cases IMO and I think the decisions by some large AAA developers who have strayed but came back to SP is telling.
I think there is a strong presence in the gaming community that enjoys single player and cooperative play more than some realize. One case in point is CoD: MW. ....not only did they come back strong with a commitment to a campaign worthy of the name, but they also decided to ditch the zombie mode to focus on a more robust coop mode that they plan to support in the coming years.
15 minutes ago, buttlint said:On the other hand, I fired up the original RDR on my old PS3. You can still play RD online and without paying Sony. (Free) The servers are still working but I mostly ran across folks that didnt speak English. (The one guy that did speak English was a Ukrainian fellow. Turns out, he just wanted me to trade him some guns for information on Arthur Morgan.)
The leap between PS3 and PS4 gaming is amazing. When you play both versions of Red Dead, side by side, you can understand why horse stacking became so popular in the original game. (The horses are uncontrollable a$$holes in the original game. Shooting them doesnt make you feel bad....at all!) If the jump from PS4 to PS5 is as striking, it should blow our socks off. Same for Xbox.
Yeah..... I can't wait to hear more details on the PS5. I'm also ecstatic that I'll be able to continue to play my PS4 titles on it as well.

There's even people that cheat and find / use exploits on console. My point is that people will always find ways. I know PC can be much worse in this respect as games tend to be much more vulnerable to hacks, etc.
All I can say is that R* is just barely releasing even some of the more basic details about the game at this point so everyone is still waiting for more information. I'm sure hacking is something they are well aware of and (hopefully) will address concerns before release.

Ah so no PC exclusives as of yet. Maybe they will release some special gear or something in the shop down to road.
I'm not saying no exclusives for PC. .....just confirming some of those were early release for PS4 owners that were later made available to XB1. I just don't know off hand if everything they listed was in the console versions.

Isn't this the same set of stuff you got for preorders when the game first was coming out for console?
Unless I am forgetting something. I figured they'd have something special for PC players.
Yeah, some of this stuff was PS4 exclusives but then released for XB1 later if I'm not mistaken. Not entirely sure about all of it though. Maybe someone else can answer that question.

The only new details I have seen was the following they ust announced today regarding system requirements, some additions to PC, etc.:
I'll wager we hear much more in the coming days / weeks before release though. I'll be posting anything coming over the R* Newswire in this forum when available.

Does rockstar have an official game forum? How do we report issues, and bugs?
Hi @Peaky Blinders and welcome to the site.
No, R* does not have an official forum. However, RDR2.org is a fan site with a great community that is more than willing to help with your issue if they can. I would recommend reading through and/or posting your problem in our Technical sub forum here:
https://www.rdr2.org/forums/forum/25-troubleshooting-technical-issues/
Even if someone doesn't have the answer to your problem you can sometimes get feedback on their experiences with R* Support, see if your issue is shared by others and even get news if others already received an answer.
To submit a trouble ticket with R* Support, use the link below. Their responses are usually within 24 in my own experience but I think they ask that you allow 48:
If you simply want to submit feedback /ideas (more like a suggestion box), they have a special website set up for that here:
https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadonline/feedback?step=decd9bdb
Hope that helps and I hope you consider sticking around to browse and perhaps share / contribute some of your own experience, ideas, etc.

I'd be more willing to bet that they'll release a "remastered RDRII" for the PS5, much like they did with GTAV when the PS4 was released.
Could be..... I think there will be a lot of factors involved in that decision including the sales of PS5's, new R* titles, RDO's success, PS5's new features, etc.
I'm sure part of the choice to create an enhanced version of GTAO was the fact that PS4 wasn't able to play PS3 games. .....which would limit the lifespan of their game on that platform as playstation owners begin to migrate to PS4, etc. However, the new PS5 will be much more flexible in that respect and Sony is even planning on cross play between the two.

Well, Sony had already confirmed backward compatibility with the PS4 a while ago although there is very recent news that questions how far that will extend but it's based on a brief blurb translated from Japanese: "dev team is putting all power on verifying whether they can secure a complete compatibility. Please wait for more information."
The problem is that some are interpreting this as perhaps the PS5 will not work with all PS4 titles while others thinks it means earlier generations like the PS3 and PS2. .....but that is pure speculation as information had already been that PS4 was included in the comp.
Either way, I think it's a relatively safe bet PS5 will be able to run our PS4 games when it launches in a year but stay tuned for more details about it to be confirmed.

Hi @EaglesLanding and welcome to the forums.
It's a good community as you may have noticed already given your post count. Glad you're here.

Welcome to the Troubleshooting & Technical Issues sub forum. Here you can discuss your technical issues, bugs, glitches, share possible solutions, etc.
Please keep in mind when posting that we are a fan site and not affiliated with Rockstar Games or TakeTwo. We are simply fans like you of the game. However, we do have a knowledgeable community here with all kinds of backgrounds and experience. Chances are, someone might have the same problem as you and possibly even a solution or helpful advice.
Also, we would encourage you to submit a trouble ticket with Rockstar if you are having problems with the game. Even with known issues it's important that people continue to submit their reports with R* as it might help provide them with an idea of what the problem may be and perhaps even expedite a fix. Try to be as descriptive as possible in your feedback.
Below is the link to the Rockstar Support site. Responses are typically within 24 hrs during the week IME but I believe they ask to allow 48:

Added 11/12/19:
- If you find a resolution to your problem, please report back what worked for you. You solution may end up helping someone else.

SERGIO VINCENZA: DANGEROUS MILITARY DEFECTOR ON THE LOOSENEW LEGENDARY BOUNTY, PLUS UNLOCK THE SLAUGHTER MASK AND MORE
The anarchist agitator and former military sharpshooter Sergio Vincenza is this week's Legendary Bounty. Since defecting from the military, Vincenza has been on the run and his accuracy with a rifle has passed into the stuff of legends. The glint of sunshine reflecting off his scope is said to be a grim harbinger and an omen of death.
His last major operation was a botched assassination attempt on the Governor of Saint Denis, and he is rumored to be holed up in the fire tower at Roanoke Ridge. But beware: Vincenza's men are highly-trained ex-military who are said to have rigged the hills with traps and explosives. Approach with considerable caution.
Licensed Bounty Hunters can take on Vincenza and his anarchist gang by picking up his poster at any local sheriff's office.
Wheeler, Rawson & Co. has a new selection of clothing available for a limited time only, including the Folwell and Dillehay Hats, the eye-catching Prieto Poncho, Eberhart Coat, and the stylish combo of the Morales Vest and Carver Pants.
For seasoned players looking to test their nerve, a tense survival match awaits with this week's featured Free Aim series, Name Your Weapon. Compete in teams and Free-For-All variants; the more difficult the weapon you use to fell your opponent, the more points you earn.
This week, wandering saleswoman Madam Nazar is seeking the Naturalists Collection. Acquire the Cherrywood Comb, Egret Egg and Bitterweed, and deliver all three to her for a healthy remittance.
Newcomers to the frontier looking for adventurous undertakings would be wise to search out the Legendary Bounty Hunter, Cripps or Madam Nazar this week, and take advantage of a limited time 5 Gold Bar discount on the Bounty Hunter's License, the Trader's Butcher Table and Collector's Satchel required for Frontier Pursuits, but only until October 14th.
Of course players who connect their Social Club account with Twitch Prime can still receive the Bounty Hunter's License for free, while active PlayStation Plus subscribers can still claim their free Butcher’s Table through October 14th and anybody who has successfully nabbed all the hidden playing cards in GTA Online will get the Collector’s Satchel free.
There are plenty of additional rewards on offer this week, including 5,000 Club XP simply for playing Red Dead Online and 30% extra Character and Role XP for all Role missions, challenges and events:
- Bounty Hunter: All Bounty Missions including Legendary and PvP Bounties
- Bounty Hunter: Manhunt and Day of Reckoning Free Roam Events
- Bounty Hunter: All Daily Challenges
- Trader: All Sell Missions
- Trader: All Daily Challenges
- Trader: Trade Route Free Roam Event
- Collector: Collecting Coins, Family Heirlooms and Wild Flowers
- Collector: All Weekly Set Sale and Collectors Set Sales
- Collector: Salvage and Condor Egg Free Roam Events and Daily Challenges
Completing the Sergio Vincenza Legendary Bounty will land you an exclusive colorway of the Inglett Scarf and 100 rounds of Express Rifle Ammo within 24 hours of completion. PlayStation Plus members who log into Red Dead Online between October 8 and November 4 will receive an exclusive tint of the Killiman Vest within 24 hours of logging in.
Celebrate the Halloween season with the terrifying Slaughter Mask. Starting Thursday, simply play GTA Online between October 10th and December 12th and you’ll unlock this free mask to wear in your adventures in Red Dead Online. The Slaughter Mask will be added to your Camp’s wardrobe within 24 hours of logging into Red Dead Online.

He doesn't play the game because his platform is PC.
His concern is about hackers in RDO based on his past experience with them in GTAO apparently getting other people banned. ....if I read that correctly.
Personally, I believe he's over thinking it and should get the game or not based on whether he's interested. Obviously, there are a lot of non-hacker folks on PC who enjoy GTAO.
If there is a concern about cheaters taking advantage of the game or others in the early stages of release then maybe but it a few months later after release.

No one really knows but if they have the same plans for PC as they do with console, then the answer is likely no. .....for now at least.
On console at least they have expressed a desire to focus on one game world for all. That's not to say that they will never change their minds but even in recent discussions, this still seems to be R*'s vision. .....at least on console. I just don't imagine that changing for PC unless they feel differences in the platforms warrant it or perhaps they are looking to go that route across the board. .......but who knows. We can speculate all day about it.
