When Lonestar asked me if i would like to be a moderator on this forum, I accepted because I felt RDR2.org was a good fan site with a good, friendly, helpful and welcoming community. Probably the best community in that respect than most any other forum I frequent. .....and a great staff to boot. I also liked how they work to promote and maintain that atmosphere.
Personally, I enjoy it. This is the kind of community I like being a part of. ....so when you say how do I cope with it, I understand what you mean but I don't see it that way. It's not a bother to me and we welcome members participation on the forums. ....as long as folks follow the rules of course.
Being semi-retired also means that I can pop on here throughout the day while I'm doing other things.
btw, there are other active moderators around here and even Lonestar views these threads, approves new members/posts, catches spam, etc. Stuff that goes on behind the scenes so to speak. I guess I just tend post a lot so maybe some folks see more of me but I kinda did that before too. We all share in the moderation responsibilities though.
As for the game, it will pick up eventually. ....and while I may be taking a break right now from RDO, I will pick it back up as I have done in the past.

Don't know DayZ but as far as Zombie Apocalypse games I am eagerly waiting for the Last of US 2.
DayZ is a hardcore survival, open world survival game. It started out as a mod from ARMA 2 and eventually became a stand-alone game. It's been in development forever on PC and came to console via XB1 Preview program. It then released as a full version and then shortly for PS4 which is when I purchased it. It's still rough with bugs but updates are coming much faster now with content and fixes.
It's not only you against the environment/elements but also zombies and other players. You have to scrounge for food, water, fight infection, find parts to repair vehicles for transportation, build bases if you want to, find light sources to survive the night, etc., etc.
There are military bases you can loot for much better armaments and equipment but its not without risk since there are a lot of folks trying to do the same thing.
1 hour ago, Dissention said:I got Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 for Switch but hate the Switch Controllers, don't want to drop $60 on the pro controller, and it's hard to rip that switch out of my kids hands.
...but back to my original point on this thread... I just think going forward I think it's realistic to expect that they're just kinda building this game Ad-Hoc and going to drip feed as long as they can. I don't think updates are going to be regular as compared to other games I've played. I mean just pulling, Fortnite off the top of my head...updates are consistent and well communicated.
In all honesty, RDO is not the worst but the second worst in recent memory for stability, bugs and frequency of updates.
The other thing is R* should have never stated Summer update or have communicated delays better . You got threads all over the social sites for RDO blasting them for the term Summer and they've frustrated a huge percentage of their player base.
and personally I'll admit it I'm a money hoarder and don't want to lose my streak again (I'm up to 60 days even after 4 days off in June). IDK probably serve me well to just let it lapse for a week but that 1 gold bar a challenge is enticing and about all I have left to do accomplish in RDO at this time....earn money and fight off raging griefers.
As far as the game itself, it's the only place I can walk outside and start shooting up animals or just fish on a whim, still love it, but want to see it grow. Right now seems like it's just moving sideways an backwards.
Yeah, I wish R* would communicate better but I don't put much thought into folks complaining about the game on social media, etc. in regard to the success of this game. Personally, I think RDO will be around for a long time and eventually it will grow into something much more robust than it is now.

My whole thing is game is kind of boring right now and I'm also doing as many dailies as I can and logging out, got a stack of cash and gold and a stack of almost everything I want.
I'm in the camp of I don't care when they release the update but I'd like to see some of all of these bugs fixed.
I got a 5th horse that's unusable, PVP is broken ...and the other 90% of the time it just counts down to 0 and pops me back into free room, guns are inconsistent, cleaning my horse doesn't register, etc etc...
Today for example...game crashes and I come back with no health, dirty guns and the wrong dang horse. Plus all the distance I traveled and time spent with no hostility was lost.
Edit...now it crashes Everytime I reach one day with no hostility and my skin menu is different. Stuff like this drives me nuts
Content is king but bugs need to be fixed. Don't be pouring new code on top of spaghetti code
I also found RDO a little boring which is why I've switched to other games in the meantime. Been really enjoying DayZ as of late.
Personally, I think it's important that they continue releasing the quarterly content drops along with any bug fixes although I wish both were more frequent. All in all though, I like the direction R* is going and look forward to many more hours of play in RDO as new features are added, etc. If I didn't, I wouldn't be wasting my time here or with the game.

I was using semi autos first and they were great. I wanted to try Mausers tho and imo they are better. Semi autos are a bit (a little bit) faster than the Mausers but have less shots, and less dmg.
Mausers tho are insane. They are dead accurate as well and dead fast too ofering more ammo. I never got back to semi autos after trying Mausers but i see some serious pvpers in showdown using semi autos too. For me Mauser is better. Try them - you will not regret it. The hip salve from those close distance is something beautiful.
2 days ago in Gold rush game i was using only them and won the match with double the points to 2nd place. Had 23 kills and 6 deaths and ppl were stuggling to kill me to get the suit. I combine them with PiB and WS of course without painting - just fast tap
btw, the Mauser is a semi-auto. ....the Cattleman and Schofield are single action by comparison and the gun the OP is talking about is a double action where a pull of the trigger will perform the task of cocking and releasing the hammer by itself without having to manually cock it before trying to fire (single action).

I hope they dont follow the GTA V model, not a big fan of heists in that game and can do without them in RDR2.
I think the biggest thing unknown that is coming are the three jobs so far announced and hopefully others later.
Heists are sort of like some of the story missions that you can do, so if they add them in that format I would enjoy that, and I do believe they are going to continue that story with more content as well so in a way I do think we will get the equivalent to heists via story missions yet to come out, but we will have to wait and see.
That's exactly how the heists are handled in GTAVO. They are part of the gameworld with characters from GTAV making an appearance, etc. with cutscenes not unlike the story missions in RDO as you point out. .....so I do think the story missions in RDO are essentially our equivalent of heists in GTAVO.
Personally, I would prefer the ability to rob stores, banks, etc. in the open world rather than having to depend on story missions to do stuff like that but I also do enjoy the missions.
16 minutes ago, lumper said:One thing I hate about GTA V is as a new player when you go online it is super overwhelming, so many updates, add ons, challenges, heists, businesses etc.. It is just way too much for a new player to pop in and try to sort out and I would hate to see that happen in RDR2.
I love the way you start in RDR2 everyone starts exactly the same way and then has choices of how they want to level up, you can try story missions, stranger missions, random encounters, hideouts, hunting, etc.. with no telegrams coming every two minutes from another obscure contact asking you to do a particular mission or activity.
I just would hope they keep it this way so no matter how long you have played or if you were to buy the game this week and jump in you wont be completely lost and overwhelmed while all around you are players with over the top weapons, horses, items, etc.. that makes you a bunny in a lions cage, in RDR2 you can pretty quickly get yourself to a point that you can survive no matter what level your attacker or opponent is.
What I do hope they do is introduce a judicial system and use both Sysika Penn and Guarma as well as the gallows, and courts, it would be interesting, to have the option to capture a bounty alive, and turn them in to see them appear in court, or be hanged or sentenced to prison or exiled to Guarma, plus the obvious missions it would allow makes it a very interesting possibility.
Well, you have to understand that all of that content in GTAVO came over the course of several years. If you drop someone in the game now, yeah, it can seem overwhelming trying to figure out the businesses, heists, equipment, real estate, upgrades, etc. It is a very complicated game world but it wasn't always that way and took a long time to get there. RDO will eventually be too as updates, content and complexity continues to be added.
Personally, I look forward to all of it as I will have the choice what I want to participate in and what I don't. Anything that adds more playstyle options and gameplay choices will be a good thing IMO.

LMFAO!!! another two weeks until we find out if its another extended time or if it finally releases
Just because we don't hear anything on a Tuesday doesn't mean they won't release more news on the Summer Update or the update itself on another day. The most recent example was the new details we got about the update on a Friday (8/2).
....so, my point being is that we could hear more about the update at any time.

Summer ends either at the end of August or toward the end of September depending on whether you go by meteorological or astronomical definitions. Using my better safe than sorry approach to things, I expect that R* is going by the astronomical calendar which has Summer ending this year before the Autumn equinox (Sept 23rd?).
......so, we possibly have a month to go with no concrete date or idea that it is closer than that. I wouldn't rack your brain too hard and just expect that you won't see the update until the end of Sept unless you hear something different before then. .....something official.

That's because the Cattleman is based on one of the best known, most recognizable handguns from that era, the Colt Single Action Army. Kinda funny because Uberti (who makes replica firearms) makes a Colt SAA replica called the Cattleman. Kinda wondered if that's where they got the name.
.....while the Schofield in the game is the S&W Schofield. I always liked that firearm and the top break design. I'm disappointed though that they didn't take such things into consideration in reload times, etc. when balancing these weapons.

From what I understand, it only disables achievements for the session that you had used cheats in. Saves are also disabled so your only option is to reload one of your previous saves when starting a new session. ......again, from what I had read on the subject. I never used them in this game so I never confirmed.
I'm sure someone will chime in soon though who knows for sure.

I think IGN should review the full game features but not story mode only, or at least put a (Story mode review) this sort of words on title so won't misdirect gamer.
That's on IGN if they somehow deceived you into buying a game you thought they reviewed unfairly. .....but without a link to the review you're referencing, I couldn't even comment any further on it.
I would suggest providing a link if you wish to discuss this point further.
QuoteSeriously I was quarrel with my girlfriend more than 3 times because 2pcs of this game is not cheap and yet the ending is not what we expected.
....so, you're upset about the ending of the story and are unhappy with your purchase in part because of that? I'm not sure what you mean here. As for the price of the game, the campaign alone was worth it IMO. RDR2 was on par and/or more robust than other SP games out there. Tons of content, huge map, long story, etc.
.....but yeah, that depends on the individual. RDR isn't the kind of game for everyone.
QuoteWe have opened the port and clear cache, yet no luck, worst case is we want to feedback but the feedback page is down. Twitter them no response at all. Finally I know got cheated by Rockstar. I swear to God, won't buy their games anymore and will post this issue to reddit to alert other gamers.
I'm not sure what to say on this one. You can't play online at all?
Just to clarify, their Support page is not down. It was working fine when I provided the links and is today when I checked. The issue is that you cannot access it on your end.
Have you thought about any of these issues possibly being a problem due to your location, service or because of the region you are in? Where are you located btw? As for warning others not to buy the game due to your own disappointment of the campaign and connectivity issues, that's your choice but we are here to try and help if you can fill us in. Someone around here may be in the same area or had the same issue, etc. that may know the answer

I agree with Foxtrot.
Also, whether some folks will agree with it or not, R* has repeatedly sold RDO as a continuation of the SP campaign. Online is essentially the continuing story but this time instead of playing through what is basically scripted characters, RDO is about you in the RDR2 game world.
As for John Marsten's story, its told through RDR1. I don't expect that they will release any DLC for the campaign but one never knows. We may see another Undead addition or something similar.

Personally, I’m not even turning the game on until the summer update comes out. Good timing since it’s summer, I have a brand new baby and I want to get out of the basement. I haven’t been around here much either though, so for that I feel a little bad lol.
Ah, I remember those days.
I actually cut the cord on TV when I noticed we hadn't picked up the cable box remote in over 12 months when we had our kid. It took all we could just to get a good night's rest during that first year or two especially while working full time with a long commute. ....forget about having time for games.
I don't miss those days although it's all worth it in the end.

Today I was doing daily challenge near Elisian Pool. When I was going to do challlenge (I was in defensive mode),
the lady came slowly to me from behind and shot me in the back of the head ... Then she immediately disappeared.
First, I would never allow a random to approach me in Free Roam. Doesn't matter what I am doing. If I'm trying to avoid contact with randoms I will leave and use Defensive Mode (DM) to my advantage.
Second, DM isn't a passive mode and was never intended to be used as such. It's simply provides players a bit of an advantage to help evade and/or retaliate against aggressors. Using it like you're immune to attacks or assuming others are going to treat you with respect is only going to lead to disappointment and frustration.
3 hours ago, Evpatij000 said:Should we have any ethical norms? Rockstar can fix killing from the cover in challenges. So they can fix bad behavior and punish for it.
We should be humans even in games...
Ethical norms? RDO is a one-mode, PvEvP experience. That's not changing anytime soon and (for now) it doesn't appear they will be introducing any sort of PvE only option. As such, the risk of being killed by randoms will likely always exist in this game on some level. I agree with @Saffron in the sense that if you don't agree with a game maker or a titles "ethical standards", simply don't purchase or play the product. Find one that supports the standards you prefer to play by.
......but, you can also look at it another way and see where R* is heading with this title. Sure, they are really pushing for an all inclusive, one-mode experience with Free Roam, but they have also been taking an interesting tack with RDO that you don't see with GTAO. They have listened to the community and (for example) are introducing ways to help mitigate griefing and IMO, it has helped. .....as long as you still do your part.
In the Summer Update, we can look forward to new roles that will also include ways for people to bounty hunt which apparently includes going after aggressive players. DM is also supposed to receive a buff to make it harder for griefers to kill you.
RDO is an evolving game and the experience will change as new features are introduced (including those that mitigate griefing). However, for those looking for an absolutely sterile, no risk experience when it comes to interactions with others, R* has made it clear that is not their goal in Free Roam. ....and they have no interest in introducing private or invite-only sessions at this time.
Either way, R* has made a lot of progress on mitigating the griefing issue IMO / IME but a lot still depends on the individual. You have to make an effort if your goal is to avoid trolling by randoms. Simple things like spawning into the game world in one region and immediately relocating 2-3 states away (since spawns usually put you in an area clumped together with others). .....or taking precautions when riding into town, etc. Simply playing with others can help a lot in this sense (covering each others back).
Personally, (unlike GTAO) I'm happy with the direction R* is taking RDO including their handling of unprovoked attacks by other players in relation to gameplay balance. There is much more to come and the game will certainly evolve as new features are introduced and players have new tasks, roles, businesses, etc. to keep them busy.
Some will never like RDO or R*'s vision and that's fine. I don't like some games or developers either but then again, I tend to avoid them.
btw, if you don't know already, you can provide your feedback directly to R* via their website. Several of the changes they have made so far have been a direct result of this input so I would encourage anyone dissatisfied with an element in the game, offering a suggestion, approval, etc. should submit their feedback via this link. Depends if you go by astronomical or meteorological.
Technically, part of Sept can still be part of Summer depending on who you ask. I'll wager R* uses the solstice and equinox dates as I mentioned earlier. .....astronomical start and end dates.

With you? ......sorry, no.
I can understand that you are having disconnect issues but quite frankly, there's a whole lot of people that aren't. ....or they are part of a larger, temporary issue which eventually gets fixed as Liquor pointed out.
.......but I'm not going to boycott a game or join a cause against it when it works for me and I enjoy it.
Sorry you can't get your particular problem resolved but perhaps it's time you cut your losses and move on if you feel this frustrated and betrayed. I've had to do the same with a couple games over the decades. It's not worth stressing over.
