  1. ....so in other words, the Summer Update may not release until closer to the end of Summer which is Sept 23rd which (quite frankly) shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

Unless they reveal some new information on a concrete date, the only safe assumption is that it will release sometime before Summer officially ends.  If it comes sooner, great.

Personally, I never expected it to come sooner but certainly hope it would.  In the meantime, I simply keep myself busy with other titles until the release.  ....and then I'll likely switch back to RDO as being my main title that I play for a while.

I was in the OTT, too. All I'll say is it was underwhelming, the complete opposite of Wildlands when I played its open beta. Breakpoint is far too Division-like and definitely isn't going to be for me. As I said on Ubi's forums, it's fine with me if they don't want my money this time around.

Yeah, I loved GRW and it was probably one of the most fun co-op experiences I had in a very long time.  We loved the fact that it was lethal for both the player and the enemy.  No over the top, mingun wielding, heavily armored humans, etc., etc.

Sure, there were problems but we enjoyed being able to play the game our way.  ....which was typically without any targeting, without drones and minimal HUD.  One of the closest titles to a tactical shooter we had on console in a long time.

Breakpoint doubles down on aspects that people ridiculed in GRW & the original Ghost War (PvP) like the drones.  ....jokes about "drone wars", etc.  Ubi says they listen and they do to an extent but I'd gladly give up bloused boots and fence breaching to get rid of the tiered loot, leveling of weapons, silly tech, classes in PvE, more spongy enemies, etc.

They obviously have made mistakes they essentially admitted to when they made the announcement to add back the team AI and getting rid of the class limitations on weapons.  ....both of which they caught flak for.    Their biggest error was combining PvP with PvE IMO as it basically brought those stupid elements into the solo / co-op game those folks never wanted.

    .....totally out of touch IMO.

The new Call of Duty Modern Warfare gameplay looks amazing.

I like the idea that they tried to tone down the "over the top" gameplay in PvP but it's still very much a twitch shooter.  They would be idiots if they didn't continue to cater to that audience.

I'm not big on twitch shooters but the hardcore mode (Realism TDM) and co-op (SpecOps) may interest me.  They did mention that the co-op will be a bigger part of the game this time around as there is no zombie mode and that effort is being thrown all into SpecOps.  Again, not really interested in campaigns that are on rails which this seems it will be.  There's really no replay value in them for me and they are usually quite short.  It was also confirmed that the campaign will be about as long as past ones which means there isn't much to look forward to IMO.

I'm also looking at Ghost Recon Breakpoint but hate the direction they are taking this one in the franchise.  .....drones, killer robot tanks, heavily armored baddies, etc.  played the online technical test and was not impressed.  ....but I'll try the beta and make a decision from there.

In the meantime I have been playing GTAO (the new Casino update and heists I never finished) as well as DayZ.  .....loving the new private server option in that.

Can't wait to hear more news on the 2019 release of Insurgency Sandstorm though.  That will be my new PvP kick depending on how it goes for the console release.  Finally, a tactical shooter with some decent hardocre / realism elements.

I just joined RDO yesterday after completing solo and I was so disappointed. Every 5-10 minutes I get that 0x20010006 error. I even tried my mobile hotspot just for the sake of different internet connection and I had 5 bars on Verizon network. I was so excited about playing it and now it's like WTF?!? I hope they solve this issue soon

Hi Chumpus and welcome to the forums.

I would suggest submitting a trouble ticket through R* Support.  I wouldn't assume it's something they are already working on as a known or widespread issue.

I have found though  3 star pelts are wrth more kill absolutely everything quantity over quality makes you much more money a 2 hour hunting trip with herb picking makes me around a 200 dollar trip for me. Though I cant speak for everyone thats what I do and it works.

Yeah.....  Better quality pelts make more money but like you I prefer quantity over quality.  I find herds of deer, etc. and then go to town.  ....shooting as many as possible.

I'll also take the better quality ones and put the whole carcasses on the back or the sides for those small game.  When the meat fills up in my inventory, I stop hunting that particular animal and go for the next.  Like when hunting deer, I don't keep collecting pelts when I can no longer harvest the meat.  I'll switch to birds until the same thing happens with them.  .....then go to the market, cash out and do it all over again.

Also, hunting spots are important.  There are some areas that you can farm by simply riding back and forth through them.  ....and if they are less frequented by other players, that's a bonus since you will have fewer interruptions.

  7. Why would the new roles even cost anything?  I didn't get that impression at all.

As for the purchase of things within the activities (if required), I'll wager that these will be in cash or both. I don't see R* locking progress like that exclusively behind a pay wall.

As far as earning cash, I've never really had too much of an issue. IMO, it's never been too difficult to earn money through hunting or just playing missions, etc. to buy what I needed. .....then again, I don't waste it either on frivolous stuff.

I usually keep around $1,000 on me and try to maintain that balance so I have enough cash for things I need as they come.  .....but you do have to grind for it. On the other hand, I've been surprised how much I can earn when I just forget about it and play a bunch of missions / activities over a few sessions.

You could try to lower your MTU settings to like 800 to put yourself in more of a private lobby. RDO does not have dedicated servers from what I can collect but uses P2P... that being said some of the players in your lobby might have a crap internet connection causing you problems.

The MTU trick folks use in GTAO doesn't seem to work in RDO unfortunately.

Did you report the problem to R* Support like I suggested?

Yes, I forgot about Wildlands! That on the fly view switching was great. It was very satisfying to put targets down in less than 3 accurate shots and then switch attention to the next. I'm excited too. A lot of stuff to chew on. I just hope we don't have a plethora of errors again like the Spring update introduced.

Something else I forgot to mention was the lethality was also a lot more realistic in that game in the higher difficulties which went a long way to making the gunplay feel right IMO.

....by contrast, games like GTA and RDR are simply arcadey in that respect which again lends to my relative indifference to free aim in RDR2.

This. I feel like when I try to go into free aim, say in a race where aim assist is turned off, I could be looking straight at an enemy player in front of me, with them dead center on my screen and the second I hold L2 to aim, my gun is pointing down at the ground just above my horses head, or wildly off to either side and it's so slow to move the reticle on target. And why does our character stay in the slower walking speed for several seconds after we've stopped aiming?? It just feels extremely clunky or non-responsive. I even turned my look/aim sensitivity up. I'm so tempted to switch to First Person view for that movement speed but then I lose out on the field of view around me.

A TPS that has free aim that feels amazing is the Uncharted series for PlayStation. If Rockstar can try to get it closer to that, I'd be soo happy.

Yeah, it all just feels wonky to me.  AA helps me get past that in this game.  Other elements in the gunplay are also very arcadey like reloads and such.  The weapon handling feels numb and not very engaging.  ....but to me it's more about the overall experience with their games.

As a comparison, in some other TPV games like Ghost Recon Wildlands the gunplay feels a lot more smooth and natural to me.  I also like how you have the option to transition into FPV when you ADS.  I love to play that game without AA or the reticule and it really had a good, responsive & authentic feel in gun battles, clearing bldgs/rooms, sniping, etc.   I also felt that way about some other TPV & FPV titles which is why I also play those in free aim.

The thing about R* games for me are the game worlds they create and all the little, neat details that make them immersive.  They have that in spades.  I always wished they would improve the combat and movement but that was something I could overlook and AA just helps in that respect.  ...and it's not like these games are designed as tactical shooters.

I dunno.....  Maybe I'm more excited than most about the radical changes they say they have planned for these mechanics but I really can't wait to see how they improve the gameplay.

  13. 11 hours ago, HuDawg said:

I don't care how you are, id bet people money if they play through the single player campaign with free aim, it makes the game more exciting and intense with every single shoot out.  Red Dead has the best gun mechanics in any R* game.

....not asking you to agree or even care about how I feel about gunplay mechanics in R* games.  I'm also not suggesting everyone feels the way I do.  It just so happens I disagree with you on this one point and that's fine.  I can get used to a lot of things but like I said, it simply doesn't feel right to me.  Free aim in GTAO and RDO is simply not fun in my case. However, there are other TPV games that simply feel better to me in free aim.  .....more responsive and natural. Has nothing to do with being more accurate, just

Thing is, the only reason I even brought it up is because R* mentioned that they will be making "substantial" changes to some of these mechanics.  We'll have to see what those will entail but yeah, maybe they came to a similar realization and/or are making the changes based on input from the community.  Either way, I'm happy to hear they are.

Not sure what's happening in yours though.  Are you in a region that will allow it? If not, maybe it was a fluke that you were able to access it at first?
