My mother mentioned she was thinking of getting Amazon Prime so if she's getting it, I may as well benefit from it lol
Otherwise that was my other option but I imagine these Twitch Prime benefits will continue from month to month.Yeah, well... If she's cool with you having her login info, why not. I think I opted out of the adverts and such so I really don't even notice.

Question:
Did someone once post that if you had a family member with Amazon Prime, you could link it to your Twitch to receive Twitch Prime?Thing is, you have to tie in your Amazon Prime account with Twitch Prime and then you R* Social Club account. IIRC, I had to log on to my Amazon Prime at some point.
Why not just do the 30 day free trial with Twitch Prime to get the current freebies?

I actually got a question and what peaked my interest was the roles, and change in mechanics but most of all taking less damage in defensive mode.
When you play GTO in passive mode can you take any damage?
You're not supposed to be able to take damage while in passive mode but I'm sure folks have ways around that (hacks/exploits/glitches). To be honest, I never use because I'm never in a public session. .....or at least one with other randoms.
I use the MTU trick to force myself into my own session or with a relative few who are usually just minding their own business too. I can do many of the business missions and even preps for some of hte heists, etc.
My other time is spent in private sessions with freinds to do everything else. ....I don't do races or public events usually but that would be the rare case I would play with randoms.
15 minutes ago, Dissention said:Last week or so some low level noobs been trying their best to hit me. Maybe they get me twice, if their lucky, B4 I torture them to the point they leave the server but it gets annoying after a while.
Some days/nights I just want to grab a couple of dailies to keep the streak going and get off and do something more productive with my life.
And I originally called update in time for earnings report and will admit I was wrong but they did put the press release out on the Friday b4 the call, but I also guessing they got all those casino players to brag about Monday, and we won't see nothing till end of the month/September
One big difference with passive mode in GTAV and defensive mode in RDO (besides the obvious damage, etc.) is the the fact that you can't play many of the missions / activities in GTAO while in that mode. RDO only limits you in that regard to only a few types of missions, PvP events, etc.
....although some of the new classes may be limited as well I suspect like the Bounty hunter. Either way, RDO Free Roam is a far cry from being the free for all that is GTAO Public.

Doubt it..... There are to "later this Summer" and "in the weeks to come". I still anticipate a mid-Sept release (end of Summer).
7 minutes ago, Born Homicidal said:Yeah the movement even to aiming/sway if so clunky, which has been one of the main arguments against free aim which I agree to an extent. Hopefully it's smoother and less delayed
Yeah, I use free aim in other TPV / FPS shooter but more so in tactical, military genres. I might have even used it in GTAV and RDR2 if the gunplay mechanics didn't have such an unnatural feel to them. That's why the absence of AA session doesn't bother me as much as it does some. That is simply not an aspect of this game that brings anything to the table for me considering the problem I have with the core gunplay mechanics.
I really hope they nail it with the improvements they have planned.
-
I'm obviously intrigued about the new roles but also really jazzed about this:
"Substantial, across the board changes are being made to combat and movement to allow for a more responsive control system that still feels natural. Additional damage reduction to Defensive players is also on the horizon, and the game will now remember your preferred playing style (Offensive or Defensive) when you exit and relaunch the game. There will also be many more lootable items to be found throughout the world, like containers on wagons or the occasional Gold Tooth on an unfortunate soul.
The next Red Dead Online update with also feature the ability to reset your character’s appearance and much, much more."
That is one thing I was hoping would have been improved in RDR2 but unfortunately remained very similar to previous games like RDR & GTAV. The movement and gunplay is one area in R* games I always felt was to arcadey / clunky. I hope the new mechanics make it feel much more refined.

Hi Wings and welcome to the forums.
I would suggest contacting R* Support via this link:
Provide them with as much detail as possible regarding the circumstances, etc. While it seems for most RDO is stable, there are still some players complaining of errors like this making the game essentially unplayable or nearly so.
I would open a trouble ticket with R* Support and be persistent. Let them know if you're able to run other online modes in games without issue and what those are.

RED DEAD ONLINE UPDATE COMING SOONFEATURING THREE UNIQUE ROLES: THE BOUNTY HUNTER, TRADER AND COLLECTOR
The recent additions to Red Dead Online established the foundation for the game’s future with a range of enhancements designed to allow players to roam freely and experience the world in their own chosen way.
Later this summer, the world will evolve again with the introduction of specialist roles – unique paths of progression, each providing their own experience with tailored gameplay elements and benefits that will allow players to become even more deeply connected to their character and the choices they make as they inhabit the world of Red Dead Online. This fundamental change points to the long term future of Red Dead Online – a world where players coexist in an uneasy peace, choosing to band together or striking out alone, fighting to survive in a world full of threats and opportunities as they build a life for themselves on the frontier.
Read on to discover more about the first three Roles in an ongoing series: the Bounty Hunter, the Trader, and the Collector.

Become a Bounty Hunter for a life of constant action on both sides of the law. A licensed Bounty Hunter can track down targets and capture – or kill, depending on how honorable you are in your pursuits. Occasionally, a nearby player with a high enough bounty can also be a designated target. Progression will unlock special items like a reinforced lasso for extra-tough targets, as well as intricate gun-spinning tricks and advanced tracking skills like the ability to use Eagle-Eye while sprinting, galloping on horseback and many other special skills, items and upgrades.

The life of a Trader is perfect for burgeoning capitalists as you establish and develop a business from your Camp. Thanks to your trusty companion Cripps’ knowledge of furs, skins and butchery, you’ll be able to take on new opportunities to collect materials and produce valuable goods to sell. Increasing your skill as a Trader unlocks the ability to upgrade your Camp with a Weapons Locker, Stew Pot and even allow any canine companion to warn of impending attacks on the camp. As your business expands, you can gain new skills, improve your satchel or add new assets to your business like hunting wagons to bring in bigger hauls and much more.

A Collector loves to explore the world for rare and valuable items. Look for a mystic travelling saleswoman in the wild to get started down the Collector’s path, searching for lost jewelry, rare arrowheads and other treasures to sell as individual pieces or highly valuable sets. As you progress, you will gain access to tools that help your search including Refined Binoculars, a Horse Lantern and even a Metal Detector, as well as gaining additional skills to help you seek and discover the world’s greatest rarities.
As you grow into each role, it will evolve and shape your experience within the world and the characters around you, showing other players how far you’ve progressed down the path of each specialist role. You’ll also be able to play and progress across all three roles simultaneously or choose to ply your trade in just the roles of your choice.
There is much more to reveal about becoming a Bounty Hunter, Trader and Collector in the weeks ahead.
ADDITIONAL ENHANCEMENTS
And in addition to these roles, the next update will also deliver a variety of new content and improvements aimed at enhancing all your experiences inside the world of Red Dead Online, whether within roles, competitive modes or simply exploring free roam.
Substantial, across the board changes are being made to combat and movement to allow for a more responsive control system that still feels natural.
The next Red Dead Online update with also feature the ability to reset your character’s appearance and much, much more.
Stay tuned for more details to come and check back for new weekly events in Red Dead Online.

Ok guys so I found a solution about this bug and the reason it happens.
The problem comes when you have 5 horses in your stable. After buying the fifth horse, one of your horses, or the one you just bought, migth get hit by the glitch-bug. Basically I don't know what triggers the glitch or what you have to do in order to enable it, but my friend, who owns 5 horses has not faced this problem, at least for now. Unfortunately in order to solve this you have to discard one of your horses (I know guys, it's hard, but you have to do it if you want your horse back). So this is the solution in order to fix this BUG.
I've discarded one horse that I didn't want (the cheapest one)> made a different horse active > left the stable > returned to the stable and made the glitched horse active > left the stables and fed it. And that's it.
Apparently there are reports that even when you do this and you have 4 horses, if you buy a fifth horse you will have the bug again. So I came to the coclusion that if you get hit by the BUG once, you will have this bug forever, or at least until R* does something about it. Again ... this is just a theory, I bought a fifth horse just to test this bug and i have no problems for now.
If you could share this information with R* Support, that would be great. Thanks for posting this and going through the trouble of trying to find a possible root cause.

Thanks for the update Kean, but lordy... when is R* finally gonna release that update? Who knew when they said "Summer" update they basically meant the week before September, at this rate. Yeesh. Suppose I'll just have to keep myself preoccupied with the EXP and Money boost.
Well, Summer is only half over right now and doesn't end until around the last week of Sept.
Personally, I never expected the Summer Update to hit in July and I have doubts it will be released this month either. I figure it will be sometime in Sept and then perhaps an announcement for a another quarterly update for Winter. You never know but I wouldn't pin any hopes on August. ....although it would be nice.
In my case, RDO is like GTAO for me. .....a game I never uninstall but don't necessarily play all the time either. I revisit these games usually when new content is released or XP/$ bonuses on activities I enjoy, etc. In fact, I've been playing GTAO ever since the Casino update and revisiting heist missions I never completed before since I now have more friends to help (thanks to an RDO buddy).
I am also playing DayZ on occasion with a couple other friends as well as some others games which include freebie PS+ titles I never got around to trying.
Thing is, some of those other games are ones that I will end up deleting from my hard drive while games like RDO will remain. It will take some time but RDO will slowly grow as more updates are released. ....I just wouldn't expect them to arrive much faster than they already are (e.g. quarterly or so). In time RDO will be a much more robust game I suspect just like GTAO eventually became.
-
As Dissention mentioned, it certainly sounds like a bug and I would follow his lead in reporting it to R*. The more people that do the more chances of them fixing the problem.
....and while video footage isn't necessary, it certainly helps in legitimizing your issue and helping R* solve it. Screenshots and/or video are always good to have when submitting trouble tickets.

Hi Syco and welcome to the forums.
I see that you created at least threads on the same subject. We ask that you please not spam the forums with the same topic. I have moved one of your threads to the Posse Recruitment subforum and will delete the others. I suspect due to the review process you may have thought your other threads did not post.
Thanks, Kean

RDO isn't hosted on separate or private servers in that way. All one can do is join a Free Roam session and invite friends. People can still choose to RP with those friends but you won't have any control over any other randoms in the same session.
I'm sure there are RP groups out there though. Perhaps if you have enough people to join you can essentially take over a session simply by sheer numbers.
I'm going to go ahead and move this to the Posse Recruitment sub-forum. You might also be able to find folks there who share your interest in RP.
Welcome to the forums by the way.

....just a reminder to make sure to upvote answers that lead to resolutions in these Q&A sub-forums.

i have 105k now on my jeep. I haven't done any major repairs either, not that i could lol, mostly the basic maintenance and a few mods i've added to it for fun. Was talking to my dad last night about this, he's way more into mechanics than i am. He's adding new turbo and doodads to his Ram truck, 2500 turbo diesel , i think it's an '02 or '03, and he's been tinkering on his charger adding a few things. It's an '07. he didn't mention what he was doing on it. Guess he wants to surprise us next time we're there. He gets a kick out of modifying something then saying "hey you wanna drive the charger (or truck) up town with me?" lol
Yeah..... Fun times. I used to love wrenching on my carss but age and old injuries have caught up to me.
28 minutes ago, Kormath said:Anyway, from what he remembers on all the cars and trucks he's owned things were mostly imperial until about the mid 70's when they started importing more parts. His old Dodge '73 PowerWagon is a good mix of metric and imperial.
Curious..... I recall running into more of those hybrid scenarios with late 70's and 80's cars. My Dad's '73 Sportsman van was all imperial from what I remember. ....but then again, I can't recall what I had for lunch yesterday either.

Ugh..... Most of the 70's were a bad time for cars. ....even the early 80's.

There are plenty of decent folks out there that you can team up with. Even if it's just one or two friends, it can make a difference in the experience as long as you're all on the same page.
I would take advantage of our Posse Recruitment page here and let others know what you're looking for in a group:
https://www.rdr2.org/forums/forum/16-posse-recruitment/
You can also try the Posse Directory here:
https://www.rdr2.org/forums/clubs/
Sometimes just playing with a bunch of random people will help you discover that one person you find to be a perfect match. Networking is not a particularly easy thing to do when you're just starting out. It takes some effort but once you start to find people you can play with, then it becomes much easier as friends of friends join, etc.
It's just a matter of finding those folks that share the same interests you do and they are definitely out there. .....it just takes a little while to build your list with some games.
-
Well it most definitely has a stigma to it with some folks (dare I say most) who look at RP as a little weird to say the least (like me
). .....but again, I think it depends on just how far it's taken because people do take on roles in games already. For me, it gets plain weird when people go beyond the structure of the game like they do in GTA RP servers on PC. These folks create worlds where they assume roles as cops, average citizens, bad guys, etc. They have back stories and stay in character as they interact with each other.
I don't know about most others, but when playing a game with friends, we sometimes pass the time talking about real life or game mechanics, updates and the like. We are not pretending that we are actually the characters we are.
On the other hand, when playing milsim games like SQUAD (for example), simply playing the game conversations might sound like RP'ing (and to an extent perhaps it is), but it's part of the game and the way you need to communicate with one another to be successful. .....it's far from games like CoD. Some of those sessions can actually sound almost like real engagements.
That kind of gameplay I don't mind as it simply feels natural to me. .....but then again, these folks are not pretending that they are not playing the game. They will ask each other how to perform certain actions, talk about respawns, glitches, aspect of the game (as a game), real life, etc. ......whereas in strict RP-specific gaming, it is common that such talk is verboten.

-
You know, it's kind of funny. I know RP has its fan base especially on PC but to me it's kinda goofy seeing people putting on an act to the extent that they do in some cases (like in GTAO). Especially in those situations where participants aren't allowed to break character, have to act like they are really in the virtual world they create, create backstories they have to stick to, etc. Where they go beyond the boundaries of the game / story / mechanics.
....and then there are games that tend to suck players further into that virtual world on their own. It's not necessarily RP in the way we are discussing but simply playing the game. I recently had that experience in DayZ where encounters and dialogue with other players can seem to be a little more tied into what's going in the game than IRL. Most conversations I have are regarding food, health, inventory status, navigation, trade, threats/extortion, etc. Thing is, we're not pretending it's not a game.
Not sure if that makes sense but that's kind of my take on it. Personally, I'm not a fan of RP'ing in the sense of having it be a requirement. I guess it's just a matter of whether it feels forced or natural and a lot of that has to do with design. ....and to what extent. In a way, many games themselves are essentially RP experiences.

Time goes so fast during the summer for me bcoz i run private business at the sea and work in my regular job at the same time. I feel like June started maybe a week ago and its the end of July. August will fly fast as well so im feeling the "end" of summer. I hope they implement the update till then.
I never tried GTA V and GTAO but liked the older wersions and played them all. Maybe ill buy a copy today and have a look.
EDIT : But yeah Casino update..... not im my Country im affraid. I dont even have poker in RDRO.....
GTAV was a fun game IMO. GTAO can be fun too but in public lobbies, it's a really crap fest. I only play in private sessions with friends or in public but only after adjusting my MTU setting so it places me in a session typically by myself.
Yeah, I read that the new Casino Update isn't available in about 50 countries. It's a shame.... The gambling is proving to be pretty fun and we're also enjoying the missions. I also got a free penthouse, some chips and some other benefits through their Twitch Prime promo. Been having a blast so far.

I'd be weary of it, personally. I've always felt open world and first person view don't mix very well. I've played GTA V and RDR2 using their FPV modes and I don't get the same sense of being "surrounded" by the game world that TPV gives me.
I think a lot of it is because the player lacks peripheral vision in FPV on a flat screen and you can only widen the FOV so much within reason. TPV helps gives you that situational awareness FPV lacks. On the other hand, I think FPV can also be more immersive especially in regard to gunplay or a sense of being the character from their viewpoint (you see what they would see).
Personally, I've always found R*'s gunplay and player movement kind of jenky. I don't enjoy playing GTAV or RDR2 in FPV. The exception is vehicles in GTA because that is one area I think the game really excels in otherwise clunky mechanics and it can be fun driving or flying in that view sometimes.
I do think franchises like Far Cry and Fallout do quite well as FPV titles in an open world. ....or milsim-like games such as SQUAD on PC, Hell Let Loose and Escape From Tarkov where TPV would give an unfair and unrealistic advantage in tactics. The upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be a FPV game and I'll wager it's going to be quite successful.
Then there are games like Ghost Recon Wildlands where I think they blended the two perspectives quite well. ADS brings you into FPV but it's essentially still a TPV game.
In the end, I think it really boils down to how the developers design their games and a players personal preference. I know folks who only like PFV games and others who prefer TPV. .....and then there are folks like me who like both. I also think both can do well in an open world environment but again, a lot depends on design, genre, etc.
CoD campaigns are essentially on rails and that severely limits my choices and the replayability of the game for me. I was ok with that back in the day but not so much anymore. Unless that changes in the new game, I'll be making a hard pass most likely and perhaps waiting for a steep discount before I even consider it. Even if it were a semi-open world, that would be better than the experience of previous titles IMO.

i'm not very mechanically inclined. i can just do the basics like oil change and tire change and spark plugs and such. On my '11 Jeep it's all metric that i've run into so far.
That's a good example right there... Many cars have been using standard imperial sized spark plugs for years like 5/8" or 13/16" for example. I have to use a 5/8" socket to replace the 16 spark plugs in my 2010 Challenger R/T. ......using my 3/8" socket wrench and extensions.
This is one example of some legacy parts or sizing that tend to stick around in the automotive world while other components have made the switch. ...but yeah, everything else so far has been metric on my Challenger as I recall up to this point. I haven't needed to do any repairs on my car up to this point so it's just been brakes/rotors, filters, plugs, tire rotations, bulb changes and the installation of a Mopar CAI up to this point (about 100k miles).
btw, my wifes 2008 Forester (one of the models made in Japan vs. Indiana) is all metric but it also has 5/8" spark plugs. My '69 Charger is all imperial and my all original '86 4Runner is all metric from what I recall except the spark plugs which are 13/16" IIRC (22RE).
I used to be a lot more active in major repairs on my vehicles but these days with my back and leg, it's simply not worth the pain. In fact , I just paid my mobile mechanic to have a bushing replaced on my wife's LCAs and an axle that I would have happily done myself a few years back.
1 hour ago, Kormath said:I rent now so i don't do much around the house like i used to. most everything back then was screw drivers or metric on the appliances.
My house is almost 30 years old. I still find myself breaking out imperial wrenches for plumbing, lawn equipment, some appliances or other things that I might be working on.
For the most part however, yeah, more stuff is metric these days than imperial.

I really was hoping for the summer update bcoz tbh summer is ending so it's confusing. Especially bcoz imo R* has many updates ready to go but is sitting on it to postpone them as much as they can. When the playerbase frustration reaches its limits- bang update. That is how i see it.
Treasure map is cool and all but srsly. We need more.
I love the game and play everyday but its starting to be a bit boring for high rank players. We need new content and new money sinks.
Summer is ending? It just started a month ago. We're only 1/3 into it at this point. We still have until late Sept.
I agree that RDO is lacking content which is why I'm playing other games at the moment including GTAO and the new Casino update.
EDIT:. Looks like Vader and I were typing out responses at the same time.

There... my feedback was sent to nowhere. Hope in some years we all remember how bad this game was implemented and that nobody did a thing to fix it.

That particular link was to R* where they do review the feedback especially if it is submitted through Support. I wasn't making any guarantees you would get the response you wished for however or a refund, etc.
Sorry you're frustrated but there isn't much any of us can do especially if you've already given up on the game. ....which in that case it's really just a moot point. So, I'm guessing you're just venting which is fine.
