    Does GTA have "role" mechanics?

No, but then again, I think R* has made it clear that they are not particularly interested in using everything from the GTAO playbook in RDO.

I hope the new mechanics will not help make the game more insular or sanitised. It would good for them to increase player interaction rather than diminish it.

I can't imagine these roles would make the game feel more sanitized or diminish player interaction (quite the opposite) but again, we really have no idea what this new mechanic will include so....

Personally, I see it as hopefully a way to give players what they want out of the game.  Those that enjoy more risk, engagements with randoms, etc. could have that.  ....those that don't, won't.

I honestly agree with you @Harlock1796 we do need outlaws in this game or there would be no fun for honest cowboys. We gotta have villains to chase and bring to justice or it would be quite dull ! Hope the bounty Hunter role let's us chase and capture villains as it would really up the excitement !! Lol here's to Hopeing. Good luck out there my fellow gunslinger !

I'm curious to see what the new "role" mechanics bring to the game as well.

  3. Hi Milk and welcome to the forums.

I don't have an answer to your question but I'm sure someone will.

Also, please don't double post. You made a similar thread in the Q&A section of the RDR2 forum which I will let stand.  .....I will close this one out instead.

    Good luck.

Today I tried Showdown Series and Showdown Series Large, none worked so I submitted a ticket and received this from a "Rockstar expert" <eye roll>

    Hi,

I am Joseph, I am a Rockstar expert. I will be assisting you in this matter today.

This is a known bug with the game and Rockstar is currently working on it to get it fixed.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

IMO, that's generally good news as they don't typically say that unless R* tells them that it's an issue they have acknowledged exists and are working to resolve.

You're welcome, glad it helps & happy everyone likes it.

Any Moderator members can combine this topic with the RDR2 Animal & Item location request thread

Only reason I made a new topic was, because I noticed only 10 member downloaded my v3 map in a few months. I didn't think many members knew about it or saw it.

Compared to 20+ members downloaded the v4 map already in the past few days.

Do you want me to combine it for you?  If so, I will.

While i strongly agree with opening tickets and insisting to these, i'm a bit sad that R* on their side do not read forums dedicated to Red Dead like this one. Usually these places are full of ideas, new problems and glitches and most of all serious people discussing situations and not some 11 years old kids spamming the twitter news with trash.

When i was opening tickets i suggested to them (with links) to start watching this forum here as it has many goodies.

OnTopic: Showdowns are completely broken for me the last 6 days. Losing daily challenges and all.

Fact is, you can't assume someone at R* is monitoring this site and if they are, they will likely never respond directly as that is not how they operate.  You need to open a trouble ticket to communicate with them directly.

R* doesn't have an official forum and RDR.org is in no way affiliated with them nor 2K.

Thank you for clarifying. I was apologizing for using derogatory comments towards the player in my video.

No worries.  To be honest, the remark is borderline but not aimed at someone here or anyone named and I really didn't pay much mind to it.  The only reason I brought any of this up was to clarify the rule when it was questioned by someone else.  This has been the 2nd time in the last few days someone challenged it and I just wanted to set the record straight.   It's all good.

The only reason I posted the video in this topic, was because the 1st post talks about players griefing / trolling or poaching said player.

I just wanted to show members on this forum that it could even happen in a Fishing Challenge. A player griefing / trolling me by trying to prevent me from fishing & winning.

I was hesitated to make this post due to the quote I used, my comments about the player & providing a video of proof.

I didn't want to be a troll or griefer myself & wanted to follow the rules of the forum. So I blurred out the name. Hoping that it would comply with the rules.

I thought Liquor's quote was a perfect representation of what that person was doing to me and to the member in the 1st post.

Sorry, I won't do it again. If there is a next time, I'll just post the video without any derogatory comments.

Why are you apologizing?  You've done nothing wrong.  .....quite the opposite as I've stated here several times.

This whole debate HuDawg brought up had nothing to do with anything that you did wrong.   ....you were actually following the rules.  Ok?

Still don't see how its naming and shaming.   Maybe im wrong but...

If I post a clip of something in game and it just so happens to show a players Gamer Tag..  Im not gonna go out of my way to blur their name out.  Its just a game..

Naming and shaming is more about going out of your way to actually do that.  Like "Stay away from this guy" and actually making a point about their gamer tag.

Showing a game clip that just so happens to show someones gamer tag due to game play design, is pretty much the opposite of naming and shaming.

    C'mon HuDawg....

When you call out a player because of their actions like in C20s example (even made a derogatory remark toward him) , that would be considered naming & shaming and he was right to blur it out as it would have otherwise been deleted and subject to a warning.  The whole thread was about players who poach and those that do it.   C20 recognized that he would be naming & shaming and kudos to him for respecting the rules by blurring it out.

You can't get a more clear cut example of naming & shaming than this.  I don't have a problem with someone disagreeing with this rule but I would have a problem if they chose to ignore it because of it.  It's not up for debate.

In this case, it would have been naming and shaming if the user name was included.   .....simple as that.

Gets better. Cannot pick up mail from post offices. Only way to get ammo is to a gunsmiith. Read the reports r*. Sort your life out.

Continue to report it to R* if you're not already. Provide screenshots and/or video evidence.  If you're not satisfied with answers they provide, don't let them close the trouble ticket and try to escalate it.

Like Lumper mentioned, not all problems are widespread so there may be other things at work here.  Not saying that is isn't an issue, just making sure you are also trying to work the problem with R* as well so they can attempt to resolve it for you.

I blurred the name out to comply with the no name and shame rule.

Thanks for doing that and respecting the rules.

I don't think showing a video of a player that shows their gamer tag when that players is messing with you is naming and shaming.

Think naming and shaming is when players make topics and rage about a specific Gamer Tags... and go out of their way to cry about specific players.

No, the above also falls under the naming and shaming rules.  Even with evidence that shows someone is trolling, cheating, etc. in the game, we do not allow the naming & shaming or "calling out" of any other players and/or fellow members regardless of the circumstances.

We urge folks to use the in-game reporting features and R* Support site to report such activities and to submit their evidence.  If a member here is being trolled or harassed in these forums, via PM or otherwise, report the post and/or contact one of us (the staff) so we can handle it.

From the bits I saw of the video, that example should be fine as C20 blurred out the offender's name.

If anyone has questions about the rules, please ask us.:

Name and shame: Please don't be tempted to"name and shame" or call out other players in Red Dead Online that you might have had a dispute or other issue with. We don't allow those sorts of posts.

Defend yourself from griefing if you need to, but don't hunt other players.

In the examples given in this thread, that's exactly what they are doing but also reciprocating the attackers action.

Just because some people choose dish it back out to griefers doesn't mean they are going to go hunt down innocent players.

    How to detect possible trolls/griefers:

On Xbox you just look at their gamercard. It tells you a lot of your opponents playing style...

If they are "offline" or "seen on XBox app/Nextflix  x days ago" there is 90% chance that they are trolls/griefers.
Add that to a 3 digit level over 170, they are probably cheaters too...

Always check out your nearby players, and you would be amazed...

I had a member in another thread question why we don't allow naming & shaming within these forums and this is one good example.

Plenty of folks play offline for various legitimate reasons including myself.  Maybe I just don't want others in my friends list, etc. to know I'm online. Sometimes I just forget. I use my console as my media center and I don't want to be bothered most of the time it's on.

A 170 level also proves nothing and quite frankly isn't all that high at this point in the game.

.....and there are plenty of griefers out there who are low level.

Haha depends on what you mean by “launched.” I assume he meant more like “knocked out of the saddle” which would really depend on some physics if we want to get technical haha ie Target’s travel speed, balance on object (are they hunched over, sitting upright, tied down, holding on to reigns etc), velocity and caliber of the bullet/projectile, angle of travel and contact location -I am sure there is more. Haha

Well, people who are shot don't tend to get "knocked" around either.  I'm not going to provide any links here due to the sensitive nature of the content but I could show you plenty of examples of people being shot.  Someone on a horse would likely just "fall off" due to their reaction to being shot (e.g. lose their balance) or simply by being incapacitated where in that case, you'd probably just drop like a sack of potatoes.

Being blown back, thrown/knocked around, etc. is mostly just Hollywood dramatics as @The_Liquor mentioned.
