    I solve the problem by having 2 colts... it’s much faster to change guns than to reload... Lol.

    On the changing cylinder thing, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen Cullen do it a few times throughout the Hell on Wheels series.

    ....and in all honesty, if the reloading times were more realistic in the game, that would add so much more value to having a second sidearm IMO because that's exactly right.  .....and I'm sure a reason those that did carry more than one, chose to do so.  Dual wielding is a Hollywood thing.

    Haven't watched HoW yet but I will someday.

    lol....  Yeah, just minor cheating with the swapping of cylinders.  ;)  I vaguely recall Clint Eastwood doing that with a cap and ball revolver in one of his movies.

    Mine is a Blackhawk as well although I have the 6 1/2" barrel and it's a New Model (modern cocking system; can unload/reload while hammer is fully forward).

    I've watched a few of Gil's videos before.  He's really talented.  I'm also an owner and big fan of 1911s so it was good to see that in the video too.  ;)

    I noticed we're getting a lot of Mexican/Spanish themed stuff lately with the clothing especially. One of my new favourite things to do is to ride the little Donkey found at Flatneck Station all over the map, especially down to New Austin. Why these aren't available as mounts is beyond me. It's got a smidgen of health and stamina but it's a surprisingly hearty little bugger! If you time your spurring just right, it goes like the Energizer bunny. It's pretty fast too!

    This should have been the default mount instead of the Scrawny Nag.

  4. I have to agree with @Miltonastic.  .....at least with my own experience too.  I simply haven't found the differences to be dramatic enough to even warrant a change.  Heck, I'm still riding around with my freebie Chestnut Arabian.  I've never felt outmatched trying to evade or chase down targets, etc.

    I guess if I were into horse race events where perhaps every bit matters I might reconsider.  ......but yeah, spend your money on what matters to you.  I'd still like a Black Arabian though simply because it would complete my "look".

    I do a lot of shooting with lever action rifles and revolvers (yes, it is possible in the UK, despite what you may have heard!) and auto-aim feels much closer to real life shooting than free aim with a console controller does.

    As I say above, auto-aim isn't perfect, I agree it's too accurate, especially on horseback, but if we're talking about realism, free-aim isn't the answer.

    How to solve Auto-aim, IMO:

    Adjust the size of the shot landing circle, and how quickly the circle shrinks, based on the following factors:

    - Weapon type;

    - is shooter on horse, or on foot;

    - note, different weapons to behave differently  - a revolver is overall less accurate, but is easier to aim than a rifle from a moving horse;

    - is shooter moving, if so, how fast;

    - is shooter standing, or crouched;

    - is target moving, if so, how fast;

    So, to take one extreme, if you're galloping on your horse, trying to use your rifle to shoot a target who is also galloping on their horse, you are going to have a very large aiming circle - you'll get them if they're very close, but otherwise, it's pot-luck, and that circle isn't getting any smaller until you or they stop.  At the other end of the spectrum, you crouch immobile behind a tree with the same rifle and line up on a buffalo that's standing still, your circle becomes a pinpoint very quickly.

    All of that is easily doable - some of it is kinda there already - and would reduce the cheesiness of auto aim, if, indeed it is a bit cheesy (I'm not saying it isn't).

    Good ideas there.  I might add that since there is no crouch/kneeling or prone in the game, perhaps it takes shooting from cover into consideration as well in reticule recovery and accuracy to mimic someone taking a shot from a more stable position.  Personally, I think stamina/recovery should have played a role as well so someone running & gunning can't shoot just as accurately as someone in a resting position.

    I would also wish that they would slow down reloading in the game.  It's simply way too fast.  Guns could be rebalanced to compensate for this and perhaps even TTK.  Maybe even make it a little slower for folks on horseback as that is something that isn't quite that easy to do while riding.  With all of the other ideas, folks might be a little more inclined to slow their roll as they say lending a little more value to tactics in the game.  Folks would give shots some more thought and it could make running out of ammo a lot more intense in a gunfight.

    First time I saw my character reload the Cattleman in the game I laughed.  I wish I could reload my own single action revolver that way.  .....and while I can unload and reload in fairly short order, it's nowhere near the lightning speed shown in the game.

  6. The only thing that ever "feels" closer to reality to me are usually FPSs and/or TPS with ADS.   .....like Ghost Recon Wildlands as an example of the latter.  That's actually a decent comparison because aiming feels a little more natural to me without AA enabled although it isn't that overpowered.  Enemies are also not bullet sponges.

    Gunplay in R* titles just feels really arcadey and that has never been one aspect of the game that I would say I thought was all that good.  However, for me, it's all about the overall experience, depth, detail and fun factor in their games that keep me coming back.  Playing RDO without AA feels way too jenky to me and even though I think it's overpowered in this game, I still use it.

    Fact is, using controllers, mice, keyboards, etc. will never be the same as shooting in reality.  However, some games tend to better than others to help bring a little bit of that "feel" to the player.  Other than some of the sounds, RDO isn't one of them but for that kind of experience I usually turn to tactical shooters like Insurgency Sandstorm that is set to release sometime later this year (which looks really promising).   .....more realistic handling, reloading, good sounds, etc.

    Personally, I don't care if my name gets thrown out there in a forum. I'm an adult and things like that don't bother me in the least. But rules are rules.

    Well, we care and we would hope our members can appreciate why it's in place as its also there to help protect them from false accusations and personal grudges being aired out on these forums.

    This rule isn't unique to these forums and there is a good reason why it's in place. We would hope folks can at least respect that.

    Again, just use the reporting features in game, through R* Support and MS/Sony.

    Too bad about the naming rules. Cheaters should be called out so others can avoid them.

    ....and what's to prevent folks from "calling out" otherwise innocent players.  What's the standard by which people are accused and who determines that?  ....etc., etc.

    There is a good reason why naming & shaming isn't allowed here.

    For in-game problems, report players using the methods mentioned. ....for issues related to this site, use the report features and/or contact a moderator.

    Yeah, you may be right about the biker missions. However, being an adult with children and a night shift job, most of my peers that actually play video games play at times other than when I manage to get online... so I haven’t tested it.

    But my points still stand. If they keep everyone together then there is more incentive to (at least make a solid effort) keep the game balanced and playable. I too think it’ll become like GTA if they start modelling  the game after what they did with GTA.

    No doubt.  That was my fear of what separate lobbies might be if they were ever introduced in RDO.  Quite honestly though, I just don't expect that is the route R* wants to take with this game.

     The majority of the content is mostly co-op missions, races, captures, pvp modes and adversary modes.  Especially user created content.

    For me.. I have a lvl two high level characters.  Most of my money and levels where gained out of free roam.

    Guess it all depends what you want out of the game.  Either playing CEO stuff like Stealing and selling cars or running a night club  or playing other game modes outside of free roam.

    I did a mix of everything. But the bulk of my money came from out of free roam.  Free roam is where I always lost money.   Because insurance frees and ammo/explosives cost a lot.

    Yeah, I was speaking mainly to businesses and related activities.  Obviously heists, races and such are outside of private and public sessions (their own deal).   I like the heists but not the races or any of the PvP modes.

    1 hour ago, Ragee503 said:

    Ditto,

    LOL I would go through 100k of ammo and explosives an evening in free roam.  The Doomsday Heists was my favorite.  Could be done with 2 people in private lobbies after set up missions.  I would make 2 mill in evening doing those.

    We should do a few heists and such in GTAO one of these days.  I haven't had a chance ot most of that content since I really never had friends who were interested in GTAO.

    I removed the profane label from your post but more importantly, that link takes you to the Feedback page.  The one you want is this:

    That is there Support page and the subsection that allows you to report a player and/or group.

    How do you report things like this?

    You can use the link I provided above which I would recommend especially if you see someone using hacks / exploits.  Obviously, if you have evidence (e.g. screen shots, video, etc.) that would help.

    Also, there is an in-game feature in the Free Roam menu that allows you to report players for predetermined reasons.  As a PS4 user, I also tend to block these types of folks if I have had bad experiences with them in the game.  This will ensure they cannot msg me, follow me, etc.

  13. 1 hour ago, The_Liquor said:

    Sure, you can race and the likes. Or cycle through the missions if that’s what you want to do. Private lobbies are nice for just hanging out, making videos or what not, if that’s your thing. But personally, I was excited to jump in and start up a biker crew and the likes. For me, splitting up the lobbies did absolutely nothing except give me the option of not being able to enjoy the content I want to play, or hanging out in a public toilet full of human turds...

    You can still build a biker business in private sessions but most of the missions require at least one other player so you'll need a friend(s).  You can also do the related businesses, resupply missions, etc. (from what I remember) in the same mode.

    However, essentially all of the VP and CEO stuff is locked out which actually makes up a majority of the content in GTAO which also happens to be the most profitable in the game.  .....e.g. Import/Export, Gunrunning, Smuggling, Nightclub and other CEO / VP available missions.  .....not to mention the bunker, hanger, garage, HQ, etc. that you need to run these businesses.  That is all basically locked behind public sessions which is why I use the MTU setting to allow me to still play all of that content by myself or sometimes, with a friend.  Wish I didn't have to but there it is.

    Personally, I wasted millions on businesses that I should have spent on other more beneficial ones.  If I would have watched some of the YT videos others told me about, I would have got much further much sooner.  ....but I still had a ton of fun playing a lot of the missions (many of which you can do solo).

    One reason I had reservations about private sessions in RDO is a fear of repeating the GTAO model where most content would be locked behind Public / Free Roam sessions.  .....and then Free Roam being a free for all crapfest just like GTAO without an option for those of us trying to escape unabated griefing to participate in a good portion of the content.  That is one reason why I (personally) am glad R* took the route they did with Free Roam.  I won't mind separate lobbies as long as they don't lock out content like that.  .....obviously some things simply won't make sense in solo / invite-only sessions which is understandable.

    I will PM you about it as there are some things we need to iron out to keep in step with forum rules (namely the requirement of only one registration per user).

    ......and that right there plays a much bigger role than I think some would care to admit.   I couldn't agree more.  Although it's rare that I get griefed in this game, I'll go as far as to say most of the time it was my own fault usually for being too complacent.

    Things like Defensive Mode do help but if folks don't do their part by adjusting their playstyle, none of these features will make much difference as they will continue to be victims to some extent or another.

    Agreed. In fact, maybe players should just boycott matches until they let us choose what type we want to play. It's rediculous that we can't by now. I actually can't believe Rockstar is so arrogant funneling players into specific ones the way they do.

    If a type of match isn't popular then remove it. Quit trying to force it on people.

    People will already typically avoid games, modes, etc. if they don't like them.  .....and they'll play them if they do (or at least like them enough).

    Personally, I don't play them because of this.  I don't want to cycle through a bunch of modes I hate just to find that one that I might enjoy.  .....and then not being able to play it because it doesn't come back up in rotation.

    Submitting our feedback to R* is a start.  Even though I don't care for PvP in a game like this I also made the suggestion to give players the option.

  17. Interesting......

    That hasn't been my experience as we see hideouts still pop up with a waypoint selected.  Last night for example, we ran across two and I'm almost certain my posse leader had waypoints set up both times as we rarely travel without one.

    rockstar has to do something with this thing. people must be able to choose what to play.

    Personally, I would make sure to submit your feedback on their site.  I'm guessing their reasoning must be that they don't want to split the player base at this point and maybe that will change if/when the game's population ramps up.  ....but honestly, I have no idea.

    It's a shame really as I actually don't like the PvP modes for the most part and this keeps me from playing the one or two that I do.  I'll wager that this changes over time though.
