    Thanks for that.

My feeling is if you have to go into network settings to try and manipulate the game that isnt for me.

I mean I Want to avoid griefers but I already do that for the most part just by fast travelling to the other side of the map, when I do run into people it isnt that bad and honestly when you never run into anyone it does get kind of boring, even running into passive players who dont bother you can be fun at times.

That seems a little extreme to me.

The MTU setting doesn't have the same effect in RDO as it does in GTAO Lumper.  In fact, if you try to change it by any significant amount in RDO, the game won't load.   ....believe me, I tried when RDO was first released.  ;)

When I mentioned the MTU trick it was regarding GTAO exclusively.  .....where encounters with randoms are very fast and chaotic.  Also, it's only manipulating the game in that it helps force you into sessions by yourself or just a few others who (surprisingly enough) are typically quite friendly as they are usually trying to do the same.

The alternative is that I would have uninstalled the game long ago if I hadn't.  Personally, I have zero problem with it because 1) I'm not using it as an exploit to gain an advantage over other players  2) It has given me what is essentially infinite replayability of a game that would have otherwise been limited.

I still play GTAO and have since it's release on PS3.  I was just providing a way for others to potentially still enjoy the game too.

  2. Had some connection issue trying to join a friend's game last night.  We had to play around a bit and get a little creative on the join but it it did work after a couple tries.

Also had a problem with another friend who regardless of what we tried we could never get all three of us into the same session.  .....bummer.  Had to continue with just the two of us.

This was the first time in quite a while I had problems like that.

No complaints?     The current direction is what exactly?

Yeah, no real complaints as in I'm willing to just play the game without much issue in regard to the anti-griefing mechanics or griefers themselves.

No problems with griefers?   Then you must enjoy battling them..    Which if that's what you mean, I agree.

No, not al all.  ......but then I know you're just being facetious and/or choosing to belittle my opinion / personal experience on the subject at this point.

I'm not lying about my experiences HuDawg.  I simply don't have the level of issues you think I have with griefers in this game.  In fact, I came across one last night that I would be hesitant to even call a griefer as they were simply acting oddly and then participated in our side mission.  ....killed me once, grabbed the loot and then I retrieved it after killing them.  Killed me again (left myself wide open) after the mission so I actually got to use the parlay option for the first time in many months.

We also had other players near us at Thieves Landing doing things that were suspicious but they didn't interfere nor impede our progress.  Most of that was our own fault for playing side missions, etc. in the same area in which we spawned into the game.  Normally, I travel to another side of the map first.  ......but I've explained these kinds of tips many times before in these discussions.

Thing is.., anything that takes away players freedoms in FREE roam.  Players will take it as players trying to turn into Hello Kitty Island.

Well HuDawg, I'm really sorry you're so bitter about the game and perhaps those of us who helped provide our feedback to R* during the beta.  I actually enjoy playing it with the exception of some bugs I encounter from time to time (e.g. couldn't have our friend join our session last night) and a desire for more content.   I never really had a huge issue with griefing after the updates started coming and much less so with the latest being implemented (opposite of the apocalyptic picture you keep trying to paint around here).

I'll say it again...  I don't share your cataclysmic vision of an Free Roam ruled by griefers exploiting all of the anti-griefing mechanics in the game neither in theory nor in actual in-game experience. Again, I get that some will always find ways to exploit the game's mechanics but it's just not happening the way your trying to paint it.

Perhaps I could be a little more sympathetic to your opinion if you weren't so dismissive of mine.

While I definitely don't agree with the original posters ideas of what would make the game better, I feel like their intentions were good and maybe they just got a little excited before weighing the pros and cons. I'm a bit surprised at the somewhat cold reaction considering this was their first post.

Everyone is entitled to share their opinions but I do believe there is a certain way of providing feedback while being conscious of that person's "new" arrival. This game gets a lot of people excited and some even become so engrossed in it. I don't think the OP meant to be cocky, I think they may have been going for more "cheeky".

Not sure if we'll be seeing more of this person now lol

I can't speak for others but I didn't imply his intentions were anything else.  I also didn't think my response was cold but simply honest.  I do think he was being a little cocky as it carried throughout his post (not just the thread title).  If pointing that out make some feel I was being rude, then for that, I apologize.

It's just that when someone implies that they are here to save the day, you should expect that you might catch a little extra flak if those ideas don't measure up to the hype.

btw, I'm one of the most inviting people around when it comes to welcoming new members as I'm always monitoring and responding on the "Introduce Yourself" thread, answering questions, etc.  I'm not trying to be rude to the OP and I have nothing against him.  I simply think his anti-griefing idea is severely flawed.

oh, and welcome to the forums @armaggeddon:)

#2- when a player is killed there is no gain but that's not very realistic...i think a player that kills another player should be able to loot the corpse.....i know what your thinking...relax.....ok it should be a sliding scale example= ( if player is the same level then upto 5% from what the player carries on hi/her person can be looted, if the levels differ then depending on the difference  as little as 1% can be looted). this takes us into my other points...i see many banks around the game, allow players to deposit their money into the bank...  this money would be safe from the various robberies that take place in game and would not subject to said robbery, this way players can deposit money and not carry it on their person ( the money carried WOULD BE subject to looting if another player kills the carrying player.)

This would only serve to exacerbate the problem as you will legitimize the act by implementing a reward system for doing so.

Think about it....  Trolls would camp merchants waiting for players to sell goods, ambush them after missions, etc.  In GTAO, you have the opportunity to deposit your cash via your phone.  In RDO, this would require visiting a bank every time.  .....something I doubt many would enjoy doing.

Judging by your cocky thread title, I know you probably think your ideas are the "bee's knees" but this particular one is horrible.

Once again many thanks to a member for helpful advice.  I learned a lot doing RDR Story mode and now I am embarked on another steep learning curve. What for most of you guys is 'common sense' is strange and new to me. That reminds me of a line from a Robert W Service poem (The men who don't fit in) Something like, ... For they are strong and brave and true.  ...  But they years for the strange and new." Like 'Dangerous Dan McGrew" - 'hairy chested poetry. I'm rambling. Thanks Buddy

I'd definitely take up any offers here to ride with others who don't mind showing you around.

I've been sick for over a week otherwise I would have offered up my own services.  .....assuming you're on PS4.  I usually ride with another member on here during the week and I'm sure he wouldn't mind (he's retired like me).

Anyhow, I hope things are working out and please continue to ask questions as there is never a shortage of folks here willing to answer questions, give advice, etc.

PSN Is Down Again, With All Services Experiencing Issues

    AIDAN SIMONDSTHURSDAY, JUNE 13, 2019
    psn down

It looks like the PlayStation Network is currently down. All of PlayStation’s online services are offline, and it doesn’t appear to be part of any sort of maintenance. At this time, it’s unknown what has caused this issue, and there’s no indication of when the service will be back up.

All of the following services are currently down:

    • Account Management
    • Gaming and Social
    • PlayStation Now
    • PlayStation Video
    • PlayStation Vue
    • PlayStation Store
    • PlayStation Music

Hopefully, Sony is working on fixing the issue and we’ll see the service up again in no time. When it does get back up and running again, we’ll be sure to keep you updated. Make sure to let us know if you’ve been experiencing any issues and if the service is working for you.

I know you are trying to help @Kean_1, but the fact remains you need to glitch or buy shark cards in order to play GTA, especially if you’re coming in late in the game (I think my new character has yet to break double digit levels). But I’m hoping for a whole lot more from RDR2. I don’t want a game where I have to cheat when I want to make money, just so I can go back into the freeroam chaos and spend it all on ammo, vehicles and what not for the never ending battle... There is potential for so much more, but at the end of the day, I suppose the market will dictate (I personally think, without any proof of any kind, that the greater market is looking for something more as well, especially the generally more mature RDR2 audience)

That's my point.  You don't have to go back into public sessions unless you want to.  I've been in public sessions maybe a handful of times but even then it was simply to initiate heists.  There is absolutely no benefit for me in that free for all mode as I simply don't enjoy engaging or interacting with randoms.   I don't enjoy the "battle"-like, chaotic atmosphere so I simply don't do it.

......that's my point.  You don't have to.  Call it a cheat, exploit, glitch or whatever but it simply tricks the system into forcing you into what is essentially a private session.  Everything else works the same including enemy NPCs who try to stop your progress, etc.

Experience or level brackets also mean nothing when you are in your own session or one with your friends as you can play at your own pace.  I have also never spent a dime on Shark Cards.

....but again, I enjoy doing those business missions mostly on my own and on rare occasions with friends.  .....never with randoms.

RDO was different from the onset.  Even without the anti-griefing measure they implemented it was never going to be the same as GTAO simply due to significant differences between the two like transportation, weaponry, etc.  The proximity mechanics and other changes made even a bigger difference in the gameplay and for the better IMO.

I like the direction RDO is going and with the MTU settings, GTAO still provides enough entertainment for me to revisit every now and again.  It gave GTAO replay value for me where it would have had none.  .....I would have uninstalled it long ago in other words.

Yeah, I’m well aware of the glitch.... but maybe I’m old fashioned, but I feel a game is broken if I need to cheat just to play, and this feels like cheating to me. I likely will just to make a few bucks here and there, but as far as I’m concerned GTA is broken beyond repair and will be something I only visit every once in a while because I just like GTA... I have higher hopes for RDR2 still

Well, your choice.  Just providing an option that could help you enjoy the game that you bought.

It's not really a "cheat" IMO as I don't use it to gain an advantage on others since I don't choose to engage randoms in the game. However, this way I get to participate in the CEO business activities, make loads of money, buy new weapons/vehicles/aircraft, etc.  It's still loads of fun without the involvement of randoms ganging up on me.

The issue for me was the fact that the game allowed me and my friends to participate in other activities like MC missions, related businesses, etc. but essentially all the other activities (e.g. CEO and VP) could only be experienced while in a public session.  The MTU trick allowed me to continue playing all of the activities without the interference of randoms as I had enjoyed in private sessions.   .......still does.  :)

This right here is my biggest fear with separating the lobbies. The idea that sure, you can have a griefer free lobby, but you can’t do anything useful there. I tried gta on PS4 after a long break. I literally can’t do a single profitable thing due to some jackass flying by on his oppressor and blowing up my stuff without the ability to even try and fight back... yet I cannot make a private lobby and still make some money to be competitive.

Change your MTU setting in the Network settings from the default 1500 to around 800 - 820. That should put you in a session by yourself or perhaps just a few folks.

Works about 90% of the time for me and you usually stay in the session by yourself for quite a while if not the entire session. Even then, if the numbers don't grow, most that are in there with you I find are usually doing the same. .....just doing their business.

I've kind of fallen out of love with these "on the rails" kind of military shooters - they all end up being pretty much the same and have little to give once the short campaign has finished.  I don't play online, so spending £40-50 for 12 hours gameplay isn't really worthwhile to me.

    Same here.....

To top it all off, the campaigns became shorter and less interesting.  Replayability in "on the rails" stories is also essentially non-existent for me.   Exceptions might be games like The Last of Us.  ....a game that was quite long and after a while I might forget certain levels, encounters, etc. that I don't mind exploring again.  Even so, I tend to not complete a campaign like that a second time (quitting before I get there).

These days, I prefer open world campaigns/stories like the Witcher, GRW, GTA, RDR, etc. where there is much more replay value for me.

If CoD made a MW that was open world, I would probably be all over it.   I just really have no interest in corridor shooters anymore.

If they’re going the same route of open world chaos that they did in GTA, then yeah......

They're not which should be quite obvious after the last few updates if it wasn't before to some people.

What was also made clear is that they want to keep this "one size fits all" mode that is Free Roam.  ....right, wrong or indifferent.  They have no interest in creating separate session options at this time and directly addressed that.  I'd be for private or friends-only sessions too but that depends on what is included.  If it's anything like GTAO where essentially all CEO and VP activities are locked behind Public sessions, then no.  I would rather have what we have now.

Personally, I think the anti-griefing measures have helped but for those expecting a truly passive experience in Free Roam, that's simply not going to happen.  ....and you can't play the game expecting that any of these options will provide that.  Whether that changes in the future, we'll have to see.

From my own experience, my issues with griefers are quite rare.  .....but then again, I essentially use the same SOPs as I always have in regard to randoms to help avoid being trolled.

Thanks for the public callout of a sweet hunting spot, 😠

You could have sent an PM instead. No wonder everybody is chasing alligators in St. Denis now...

As mentioned, this is pretty much common knowledge already and besides, that's something that sets this community apart from some others.   ......it's members are mostly welcoming and helpful.

If others muscling in on a sweet hunting spot are your concern, spawn into a session at least a couple regions away from Lemoyne and then travel there. The game tends to spawn players in areas with others.
