Can you folks confirm what kind of crashes (e.g. the error codes)? Were they all blue screens like mine? I had the CE34878-0 error code on a blue screen.
I'm also assuming everyone here is on PS4. I'm pretty sure DNMNetTech is. I wanted to let R* Support know this is not an isolated incident as more people are reporting it here on our forums. If in fact, were all experience the same type of problem(s).
I would also encourage you folks to report your own particular crashes to R* Support iff you haven't already:
Just keep in mind that they may not acknowledge it as a problem at this point until they begin receiving more complaints (assuming they even do).

Just had two more last night. I submitted a trouble ticket with R*.

I've had two "CE..." blue screen crashes on PS4 in two different sessions since the TU.

I agree with @The_Liquor that there may be some confusion here with red enemies who are engaged with you and if they are actually red because of their hostility status. Sounds more like the former the way it's being described here. A player who is red due to hostility should not be changing like that under those circumstances.

I have to believe they will implement properties. .....along with vehicles of course. With the properties will come new ways to spend money on decorations, safes, gun storage, etc. Stuff for people to grind for.

I would suggest contacting R* Support for clarification. I couldn't find anything on the subject unfortunately although I wouldn't be surprised if an article pops up about it at some point.

Have to agree with HuDawg to an extent here - I do believe the playing style function will be abused and possibly to a game-killing extent when people get bored of the content.
I had the first sign of it yesterday when a player came to the hideout I was clearing and started looting bodies. Sure, if I'm close to him I can blow him away with shotgun but I'm defensive (and he can see that) so from a distance I've got to try and sort him in free-aim with enemies still shooting me.
HuDawg's examples were intentionally extreme to make a point but if something can be done in an online game sure as hell some idiot out there will do it, however ludicrous it might sound. Mark his words.
.....and no one is saying trolls will stop being trolls. Of course they will find new ways to exploit features like this but the point some of us are making is that it likely won't be the ominous, "dark future" being painted here.
Similar things were being said about the gameplay back when the blips / proximity changes were implemented and it didn't happen then either.
None of us are saying the system is perfect or that it won't require tweaking along the way. ....even R* admits this. I just don't see it being the complete disaster some people seem to be portraying it as.

i knew the progression of the rifle, from the prototype to the Winchester 94, but not the exact dates so i had to cheat and look those up.
History is a passion of mine, and guns and the wild west are way up on the interest list.
If you get a chance you gotta go see that Firearms museum, i go there every few years when i visit my uncle and get lost for hours.
Doubt I'll ever find myself up in Cody, Wyoming but if I am, I'll check it out.

I killed a dozen civies yesterday. .....first was an accident and then of course I couldn't let the witnesses go. My honor went down a little but my hostility was unaffected.
My honor went back up after hunting.

Yeah, I know you never could, that's why was asking if we were still unable too. I've got guns that I just don't use, so it'd be nice to be able to sell to the Gun Store shop keep. Same with Tonics.
No joke. I wish I could unload some guns simply because I don't want to scroll through them. Maybe at some point when we get properties they'll allow us to use a gun cabinet similar to how GTA works.

.....then there's the whole history of cartridges and the changes / advancements being made during that time. Stuff I'm familiar with but rarely could remember off the top of my head like you. .....I'm impressed.

Sell guns? You were never able to and still can't AFAIK. As far as tonics, I couldn't tell you. .....sorry.

I had played up to about lvl 150 on GTA5 on the XBox. Stopped playing and then bought a new gaming PC. I bought GTA5 for PC thinking that I wold be linking up to my account I already had, a'la FortNite, but the PC was it's own world, so I had to start from scratch, which I didn't.
Oh, I see.
Yeah, they are treated as different platforms in that case. May as well have been a PS4. .....but who knows. Maybe they might do something for MS customers this time around.

I heard hunting and plucking birds does it. .....seems to help me as I can mow down a whole flock at a time, especially now that they don't despawn when further away as they used to.

I'd be psyched about this, if I wasn't sure that the PC version would have it's own online world like GTA5.
Not sure what you mean there. PC would most certainly be stand alone.

Yeah, Tumbleweed (IIRC) was also a $25 buy in. ....I chickened out for the meantime.

I just don’t see it. Maybe it’ll happen, but I think it’s unlikely and the odd case that pops up will be an isolated incident. Besides, being annoying isn’t really a capital punishment type of crime. If you can’t stand someone doing the prospector jig or flipping you off or something while you are fishing, to the point you pull out a gun and murder him, you kind of deserve the negative consequences.
as for trampling on my kills, well, fine. But I hunt for volume over quality anyway. And if I really needed that perfect kill badly enough, again, I’d just kill them and be red for a while and shell out my 15 cents when I get back to the post office. Besides, I’m skinning those kills while they’re riding around like lunatics, they’ll probably accidentally hit me and become enemies anyway. this system isn’t there to eliminate all idiotic behaviour, it’s there as a deterrent and effort at balancing things. It’s not likely ever going to be 100% fool proof. If you’re going to troll someone or be so annoyed at the meet presence of someone goofing off in your general area that you need to resort to lethal force, you kind of deserve what’s coming either way.
....couldn't agree more. I don't believe the apocalyptic scenario being painted here nor did I when we had similar conversations when the blip / proximity feature was first introduced. ....and that never came to pass either.

Thanks thats a usefull and good comment I addded a like.
Lets hope for the best.
Current new Hobby of my opposite seems to be to shot me (first!) and after i killed them then 2 or 3 times back, to send a report message.
Thats a verry strange kind of behavior or?
I start to send one too now, to Show them how it feels if you did Nothing and still are blamed.
I dont think they are read by someone or analysed I think they add to your redskill and therfore ist in special unfair to report without a Need.
Would´nt an excessive reporting not lead automaticly to only red Players on the map in the end?
The reporting feature is simply that. I don't what their process is for acting on complaints or if they do. THey may only collect it for data or perhaps if an individual gets enough complaints from several sources then they investigate. .....I don't know really.
However, I can tell you that they don't use the reporting feature to affect someone's hostility level. That is regulated solely by their aggressive actions in-game toward other players and/or NPC's, etc.

Yes, RDO is out of beta. All references to the beta have been removed as far as I can tell. .....even on the Feedback site.
.....going to move this to the RDO forum.

I think it will come. Actually targeting a deer and having a smart palyer who runs into that line being defensive him self, might Change this set up, so you Count as having him targeted and he shots you then under full Passiv protection.
There is no targeting of other players while in Defensive mode. Either way, pointing your weapon at someone doesn't take you out of the mode and auto aim won't work against them. However, if you were to shoot them, then that's a different story.
Seriously though, the level of skill someone would have to have to wander into your sights (without you being aware) so that you take a shot at them just as you are about to fire at an animal is highly unlikely IMO. .....but again, this goes back to what I've been saying about situational awareness and the fact that the defensive mode is not a passive mode. You still need to be aware of random players around you and IMO, should always be wary of their intentions otherwise you're setting yourself up for being trolled, killed, etc.
1 hour ago, CPUTestUnit said:Did any one check alreaddy how Passiv Players are seen during an ongoing FR Mission? Are they still protected?
It depends on the Free Roam mission. Missions that include other players as rival participants are marked with an icon and there is a also a pop-up window that will tell you that you'll be placed into Offensive mode if you accept. However, there are other missions where you will remain in Defensive mode although that means nothing against NPCs (just real players).
It says in the description that Defensive mode is restricted to certain FR missions.
1 hour ago, CPUTestUnit said:We will see but i am still not really convienced, also think about eralier GTAO issues of the same kind by missusing the passiv parts and as said before, we had it yesterday and I really would like to understand how to stopp such Players Ingame cause having them protected so you´re Exploround does´nt really hurt them while they kill you several times is for sure not how this System should work.
You were in Offense mode and there's still the question as to what your hostility level was at the time because that will affect whether or not someone remains in Defense mode if they engage you. Also true if you had a low hostility but engaged them in when they were in defensive mode. They will remain in that mode.
Quite frankly, I don't see this defensive/offensive mode the same way I do the passive mode in GTAO. Now, while griefers are going to grief and find ways to still troll people regardless, I think this new mode in RDO will work out and if they need to, they'll adjust it. .....but again, folks can't treat this like a passive mode. You still need to do your part to avoid those situations where you might be griefed, etc. It's simply added protection. For Offensive players, perhaps even moreso.

Most folks were probably too busy checking out the new features like poker and playing the new missions, PvP events, etc. After folks have a chance to explore all of this, I suspect the "dishonorable" among us will go back to doing what they used to do. ....or maybe some won't due to the new Hostility features.

Evans vs Lancaster
in Red Dead Online
Posted
I have both and still sure the Lancaster. IIRC, when I was trying the Evans I found it slower to acquire targets and any edges it had over the Lancaster weren't enough to make up for the shortcomings compared to it.
....but yeah, it all matters what you're comfortable with in the end and who well you use it.
