Hi Ruby and welcome to the forums. Please feel free to browse, contribute and/or ask any questions you may have. I think you'll find this community quite welcoming and pleasant to interact with.

Hi Johnny and welcome to the forums.
Thanks for your contributions here and we welcome your insights, ideas, suggestions, etc. for discussion. However, when I saw that you said "official" forum I thought I should point out that RDR2.org is a fan forum. It is official forum of R* nor 2K. The only official website I know of for providing feedback on the RDO Beta is the RDO Beta Feedback site:
https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=decd9bdb
Again, we welcome your points for discussion here as well and hope you will continue to hang around.

Well hopefully by or before June 11th we will find out, and hopefully the new system will help prevent some of this stuff, we can only wait and hope, but it is close, iwthevery passing day we get closer to the final product.
I saw one UK article where they said the update would hit this month (May) but they had no source / backup of their claim.

The current problem of the blip system is that is punishes players for defending themselves.. With a kill tax and easy to see blips.
....and the next update looks to help take care of that but yeah, we already had that discussion and I understand you believe that won't work due to griefers exploiting it. IMO, griefers will always find way to grief but then again, I really don't have that big of a problem with them in the game's current state. I've been able to avoid them easily enough and even defended myself without much issue. ....and I didn't automatically turn red myself for doing so as I don't press home the point like some do with these guys (e.g. repeatedly killing to the point where I become marked myself).
The posse and one-kill parley were also welcome changes as I had been on the receiving end of one of those assaults a couple times where different high ranking members of a posse continued to kill my group until we were forced to leave the session. I never got killed enough times by one member to parley with them and even if I did, that wouldn't stop all the others from railroading me. ...that was until the update of course.
With the next update it's nice to know that I can retaliate without consequence and also play in a defensive mode if I want to where auto aim is not a factor, etc.

Seems to me that if only those who ride, run or shoot are visible, then griefers who are hiding and waiting to ambush would have a huge advantage over other players. At least now with proximity blips, other players appear on the edge of our minimaps so we have time to react.
I never liked the idea that anyone is visible from any part of the map regardless of what they are doing (shooting, riding , etc.). IMO, it's better that it's based on relatively close proximity. ....although the game also does briefly extends that range a bit when you shoot.
Being a blue dot has advantages and disadvantages for all players. You never know exactly where another player is but you will both become visible to one another when you are within each others proximity range. I still prefer it this way though as I still have time to evade and now with the proximity blips, I can actually escape from their sight once out of range (I can double back, take another route, etc.). ....before they could simply keep tracking me all over the map if they wanted to which has happened to me on more than one occasion in the past.
4 hours ago, HuDawg said:The person in charge of RDO seems to have to clue what they are doing. Its almost like they are purposely doing the exact opposite of what myself and many people expect. So that's how I feel about the current state of RD O.
I still find the game enjoyable.. Its just, feels like R* is just pooping themselves and not caring about it.
...Im just sitting here waiting for the Beta to end to see if this game is still worth caring about.. OR will it just be a last cause.
Again, I disagree. I think they are listening it's just that some people don't like what or who they are listening to. ....which is fine. We all have a voice and those of us who had been asking for those changes used ours to help get them implemented.
While I don't agree with everything they have done, I actually like most of what they have changed so far and what they said they have planned to do. One thing I didn't like was making player kills a part of daily challenges as that only seemed to promote the very thing they were trying to help mitigate. .....but they listened and they will be removing those from the daily challenges in the Spring Update.
I wouldn't mind different session options but those haven't even been confirmed let alone mentioned so if Free Roam is to be this one-for-all solution, then I prefer current this vision of theirs.

I have to assume he means delivery missions for mail, etc. where you have to drop off the bag(s).
How exactly do they "ruin" the game? First, you don't have to accept them and second, they don't ruin anything IMO. ......I'm guessing he means it harder to kill those running those missions when they have SB?
.....we may never know.

That is what I've heard. .....that there is a max amount of times you can reset.

Hi Viper and welcome to the forums.
I have to tell you though that this is a fan site. RDR2.org is not affiliated with Rockstar or 2K.
Having said that, R* does have a website for the RDO Beta where you can provide feedback if your intention was to speak to them directly.

Edited title for inappropriate language.....

I have a first gen PS4 and never really noticed anything that I would consider jarring in that respect. I never really considered rendering in this game to be particularly bad or "shoddy". Predictable in some cases, yes. .....but not particularly bad.

You said,
"Your painting a picture of Arch as someone who is seeking out players to indiscriminately kill when that's not the case at all."
But he said,
"anytime I see a player with Never Without One or Slow & Steady coming my way I just shoot them."
So.. I disagree with your assessment, he clearly is paranoid of players with certain loadouts and of his own admission said he shoots them on sight for no reason if they have those cards loaded, that is paranoid and afraid and aggressive.
....meh. I guess it all depends on what he means by "coming my way". I've shot people coming my way too especially when I'm off trail and they make no effort to change course once we appear on minimap to one another.
Personally, I don't make a it habit of approaching people so I rarely have problems with being shot (see my etiquette remarks). As for profiling, I don't agree with his logic on that one but I also do it too. If I see a player with a name like IHUNTUDOWN or such, yeah, you better believe my trust level is zero.
....as for mics, I hardly ever talk to randoms in the game world. First, I find most annoying and the comms between my teammates are not as clear as they are when using private chat. I've also had a bad experience with rude folks whether that was through racial slurs/insults, eating, digestion noises, kids, incoherent mumblings, playing music, etc. ....no thanks.

....exactly what I meant by them being able to take a series like that in so many directions. They don't have to be tethered to any one format when telling the various stories in the Division world.

Mostly because the only true fix was invite only lobbies and leaving the game bare as bones. Simple fixes are the best fixes.
Next update won't penalize someone from defending themselves is what R* claims. But as someone whos been 10 steps ahead of R* logic for years now. I can already point out problems even tho the next update isn't out yet. Hell the current problems everyone is complaining about now, are things I pointed out would happen long before the blip/bounty system was added.
And then there's Defensive mode.. AKA. The ability to troll players while using a protective magical shield. And at the same time, starting free roam missions and then attacking defensive mode players.
If only this game was in a Beta. R* could fix and tweaks things on a daily/weekly basis.
Personally, I never had a problem with the blip system and in fact, it made life even easier for me.
I never trusted players before that change and still don't now (regardless of color). When someone is red, it makes no difference to me if they were killing NPCs or real people but at least now, I can avoid them much easier and they don't know exactly where I am. As for blue dots, they have the same advantages and disadvantages I have. I just stay aware of my surroundings and approach / avoid with caution as I would anyone else before any of this was implemented. I actually like it more now as run-ins with other players feel more random vs. knowing where everyone is on the map at any given time. I liked the idea folks were pitching about proximity blips before the betsa hit and I really like it now. ....as well as the color system.
Seems RDO isn't turning out to be anything you would have liked it to be and I'm sorry you can't find the game enjoyable. I don't see these changes at all in the light you do but that's just a matter of a difference of opinion. ....nothing wrong with that.
6 minutes ago, lumper said:Just because I have an aggressive loadout doesnt mean you get to shoot me, thats a lame excuse to shoot people.
If you took a more civilized approach, the rdr2 world would be a better place.
But ok, that is how you play, fine, this is why we ALL have to wait while Rockstar implements a hostility system to protect the community from people like you that act like you do in game......
.......I love hearing the reasons, your reason is that you are paranoid, and afraid, ok, thats fair enough.
I would like to offer you one suggestion, a mic, a free ear bud, or 5$ cheapo, put on a mic, so you can talk to free roamers, it is easy enough to issue a warning, and it works.
I have diffused many situations with a mick just by explaining, hey, Im not a griefer, Im hunting, no worries man you dont have to worry about being shot in the back from me, etc... this has stopped a lot of needless attacks and even made a few friends.
I couldn't disagree with you more on this.
Your painting a picture of Arch as someone who is seeking out players to indiscriminately kill when that's not the case at all. I'll tell you this..... I believe there is an etiquette that "civilized" players do and should follow when interacting with other players they don't know. For example.....
- When passing on roads I give a wide berth.
- I never approach someone while they are vulnerable (e.g. fishing, skinning an animal, etc.).
- In town, I don't hang around someone or in places that would make my intentions seems suspicious (next to the butcher, etc.). I do my business and move on if I see others.
- I never make a bee line for someone off the trail.
- I never tail someone by matching their moves.
Personally, I think this is all common sense if your intentions are truly honorable. Your suggestion is to give everyone the benefit of the doubt but my experience is that route will only get you killed most times.
I would pass players all the time in town or on the road that never did me harm but then again, they seem to follow the same rules of etiquette I do too by making themselves appear non-threatening. ......but, if you make moves or take actions that appear aggressive, I have no problem with someone who takes them out first. Hell, I wouldn't blame them if they killed me for being just as stupid.
This is nothing like the griefer mentality you describe. It also has nothing to do with being frightened or paranoid. .....it's due to personal experience in most cases.

A blue blip player could target you for no reason... You end up killing the player over and over again in self defense, Your blip is now Red.
.....which is going to change in the Spring Update so you are able to defend yourself without being penalized/turned red yourself. ......but I know that won't make a difference for some.
Like Chris and others, I use the NWO perk as a means of self defense as many do I would expect. .....but then again, I will shoot first when someone appears to be riding up on with purpose while I'm off trail. Rarely had an experience where someone had good intentions in that scenario in the past so I don;t take chances.
.....but the whole NWO choice might change as the new update will also include a passive mode that will essentially provide similar protection.

I would suggest that not very many people have completed the story mode, myself included. I had read somewhere the percentage, maybe on this page, was really low for completing story mode.
I'll wager there were folks like me who didn't finish it because RDO came out before they did. I just hadn't got back around to it but I know I will eventually. I't not because I didn't like the campaign (quite the opposite in fact).

Well then, spread the word my friend. Get folks over here.
I'm assuming a good portion of folks also participate over on Reddit, etc. Personally, I prefer the caliber of folks this site tends to attract. I think others do too which is why some of them come here. I think if more folks discovered this site, they would too.

Yeah, that is a bummer. I find the app extremely useful and quite frankly, feel naked playing without it.
My old phone just happened to be on its last leg when I got came across a killer deal on a Moto Z3. I tried it again on that phone and it worked. I would never get a new phone just for a game. .....I don't blame you

What can I tell you? I don't have any idea what devices folks have out there or what OS they are running.
I do know that the app will require a more recent Android OS to run. It didn't work on my previous phone which was about 4 years old. I have no idea about IOS as ih ave no Apple devices.
Try it. If it works on your device, then it works. If it doesn't, then it doesn't. .....pretty simple really.

Thanks to all of you for your replies. I guess I will have to just keep my guard up at all times but it makes it a bit stressful. If I am honest, I can recover from being shot but they go for my horse deliberately and that does actually make me a bit angry. I know they are supposed to pay a damage fee but they don't seem to care. Thank you for the advice and hopefully RS will improve this all with the upcoming Spring update.
Yeah, the Spring update will have even more "anti-griefing" features that could help.
Something else I should mention which I don't think gets touted enough is the RDR2 iOS / Android app. You can have this running while in game and see the big map without having to switch to it on your monitor. You can zoom out / in, see some potential threats before you would on your minimap, etc. It just provides an extra level of situational awareness. You can also use it while fishing since your minimap disappears during this activity but the app will still show what's around you.

That's a very good idea, indeed.
I usually have avoided posse invites after joining groups that wanted to just shoot everyone --not my style, at all.
Wish there were groups that just wanted to fish and hunt, haha.
There are.....
