  1. Had a bad feeling about it due to the delay and some of the remarks from developers.  ....in one article they even got a little defensive about being considered yet another zombie game.  Nothing substantial to cause worry but just a feeling I had that the game might be "meh".

I figured I'd wait until after release, catch some in-game footage, read some reviews and then decide if it's the kind of game for me.  Wasn't too thrilled that they didn't include co-op either and I'm not really looking for a solo-only experience right now from a game.

Have you played it?  If so, what's your thoughts?

well , ask any good PVP Players and they will tell you that the game is fun and have alot of content to pleaase you in your Online Experience , if you are not good in pvp which is like 75% of the game   Pvp /  hunting, fishing /  online mission .    if you are not good at pvp of course this game will look bad with all these missing content , but it a beta so we know it incoming

PvP is only as dominate in this game as you make it.  There is much, much more to the game than that.

.....and being good or bad at PvP has absolutely nothing to do with someone being critical about the game lacking content they prefer, etc.  We are simply not going to see eye to eye on this but that's ok.

you guys do realise this is a beta right ?  Do you know what beta are made for ?  Take Feedback , suggestions most of you giving bad comments on RDO online , are probably not doing really good in pvp  i understnad that game miss few content like a chat , activities by exemple poker room , darts , new team shoot out like they has in saint denis   16 vs 16 , but this is a BETA !  we are playing on a game with like 60% of his potential. so my point is ... stop crying and feedback.

Not sure what being good at PvP has to do with providing one's input on the game but yeah, kinda what the forum is here for.

  4. What @Ozy8753 said about Free Roam.  You just need to make sure you're on your horse so you can put one on from your inventory wheel.

.....but after the Spring Update, this may be sort of a moot point if you're in Passive Mode.  First time head shots won't be lethal as they once were and auto aim will also be off.

As for PvP, I dunno.  I never play those modes because I don't typically find them enjoyable with the current gameplay mechanics.

The free aim and movement is a bit clunky,  I won't argue that.  But most shooters are too over simplified in the 1st place and have spoiled players on how shooting should be.

Most are, I agree.  Have to play on PC to get any that are really any good IMO but then they are considered too "milsim" by the masses.  If I was still building PCs I would be playing a lot of those games that you just can't find on console.  ....or come around way too rarely.

GRW had a good "feel" to me and wasn't over-simplified IMO by comparison (for a console game).  I also liked that you could ADS and clear rooms properly, etc. I liked the cover system and ability to go prone.  Enemies were lethal but so was the player.  Too bad the butchered the PvP mode by increasing the TTK, adding special abilities and all the other crap that makes me hate games like CoD.  They wanted to appeal to the masses.

Personally, I can't wait for Insurgency Sandstorm later this year.  Realistic reloads, animations and a lethal damage model.  About as close as we've had to a milsim title or good tactical shooter on console in a long time.  I also hear that they will likely not have any AA option at all but that has yet to be seen.

Anyone whos ever shot a real gun in real life and moved around while doing it.  You're not just gonna move around twitch shooting everything that moves, that's now how things work.

In RD..  The auto aim is too accurate.

I don't think anyone here has made the argument that auto aim or RDO is anything like shooting in real life. The shooting and overall weapon handling / mechanics in RDR2 or GTA for that matter are very arcadey IMO which is a big part of the reason why I just use AA in these games.

I do agree AA is too overpowered which is why I mentioned that I scale it way back.  I'm not happy with AA but I'm also not happy with the way the mechanics are without it.  For me, AA simply doesn't bother me as much as the clunky mechanics do in free aim.

.......and yeah, you can say I've fired weapons in "real life" and even own a few.  ;)

In pvp it turns into ability cards or diving around.  Because every time someone presses LT they lock on.  Theres no real thrill in it.

......kinda the reason I don't play PvP modes in this game.  Way too arcadey for me.  Big reason I don't play other PvP shooters either where players can bunny hop around, etc.

PVE..   30 NPCS are nothing but auto aim fodder.  The only way to die is to get so far deep into NPCs line of sight, that you can't auto aim fast enough.  It makes things extremely boring.

....boring for you but not for me.  I found a decent compromise turning down the AA as far as I can.  Again, that's not to say I like AA but I also don't like the way the gunplay feels in free aim (in this game).

As I said before, it's simply feels too unnatural to me.  .......nothing to do with being not easy enough, it just feels clunky.  GRW felt good by comparison and more natural as it would in real life.  .....relatively speaking.

The best part about free aim..  Even if its a bit clunky.  Is that shoot outs become more exciting when you don't expect every single shot to land on every target close to you, just because you pressed LT.

RDO has great gin mechanics..  Spoiled by auto aim.

Hell,  I dare anyone here to round up 4 people and play the co-op missions with free aim and no ability cards slotted.  Pretend auto aim doesn't exist..   And I bet you'll have the most fun you've ever had in terms of pve.

I will agree with you there.  Free aim would change the dynamic in RDO.  ....for the better IMO.  However, I don't know how much I would like living with free aim in this game the way it is now.  If they ever do come out with the mode, I will be trying it though.

    This makes no sense..

You like auto aim?    And you play for immersion?      Auto aim breaks immersion.     Especially when combined with ability cards..

Its got nothing to do with skill..

Auto aim makes the game brain dead stupid on every front.. From PVP to PVE.   RD is a shooter.

Playing a 'true free aim pvp game'?  Well if RD had free aim, it would be a true free aim pvp game.

I can relate to his remark although I still wouldn't say I like auto aim personally (especially in this game).   I simply use it (dumbed down as far as it can go) to overcome what I feel is a relatively clunky system.

I was never a big fan of the way free aim feels in GTAV or this game either.  .....nor the damage, fine movement, gun handling or overall gunplay mechanics for that matter.  I don't know the right words to express it but free aim just never felt right in these games to me which is why I chose to use scaled back AA in the campaign for both.  .....perhaps shallow is a better word.

On the other hand, a somewhat recent example of a shooter (tactical shooter in this case) where I do use free aim and really enjoy it is Ghost Recon Wildlands which also happens to be TPV.  It just feels right especially with the lethal damage mechanics, movement, ADS, handling, gunplay.  Just feels more natural to me in free aim where GTAV and RDR2 don't.

Having said that, I do hope they offer a free aim mode and I would likely even try it myself.

  7. .....but then you still have to go through the cards to select them which (to me) is the issue.  It's clunky.

They really should have a "loadout" option where you can create customized selections, name them and then select them from the menu.

EST and usually on after work (7-11PM) all weekdays, and all weekends. How about you? Also down to play GTA V Online.

I'm PST and unfortunately just barely getting on by 8 - 9 PM (11 PM - 12 AM your time).  :(  .....sorry.

I have a couple friends who live in the EST time zone but they don't start playing until close to midnight (their time) which works out for us.

    @Kean_1

Once I've done that, how do I get it in here?

I like to photo the weird stuff that happens now n then using the ingame camera, either to take a selfie or just a pic of something weird or interesting.

I had been to the Rhodes butcher & sold my pelts, exited back to the game and turned round to find an npc trying to drive a wagon across the front of the bank while another npc sat reading a paper right behind the wagon.  The wagon kept breaking in 2 & the horses kept dying, so out comes the camera and I line up for a pic.. suddenly another player jumps in front of me n does a crazy lil jig (turned out he had paid RD$150 for an emote, n trust me it was well worth it).  It was hilarious & I grabbed a "what just happened" n sent it to him.  Incredibly, no sooner had he done his jig than the glitching wagon sorted itself out & drove away.  I couldn't have scripted it better if I'd tried, the timing was perfect.

I'd love to make his photo-bombing exploits famous in here by posting the game clip, but have no idea how to get it from xbox to here.

cheers for any advice that allow me to post the vid here.

On XB1, I'm afraid I have no idea.  MS may have photo sharing capabilities built in you can use, etc.

On PS4 you can capture screenshots within the game at any point and you can share them through FB or Twitter IIRC.  ....or download them on to usb drive and so on.

The videos you capture can be uploaded to YT as a way to host them and shared by providing a link.

  10. Given your post appears to be a direct plea to Rockstar, I thought it only fair to mention that RDR2.org is a fan site and not an official forum of R* or 2K.

If you're intention was to get R*'s attention, I would suggest submitting feedback via their RDO Beta Feedback website here:

    https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=f2e50892

....unless of course it was just rhetorical.

Yeah. Might be the wrong place lol. Oh well, not much I can do about it.

Well, if he/she decides to come back to be part of the discussion I'll move it for them.   ......otherwise there's not much point.

Having said that, I don't buy into this whole notion that people who purchase Gold Bars are somehow at a great advantage over other players who choose not to spend money on MTXs.  Items locked behind GBs are essentially all cosmetic and other items that can be bought with GBs can also be bought with in-game cash which anyone can grind for.  Personally, I didn't find it too difficult to buy the weapons / equipment / perks I needed to help defend myself, etc.  In all honesty, I stopped playing for now because there wasn't much else for me to work toward after lvl 65.

Now, if you want to talk about OP advantages due to leveling, I would tend to agree as higher level players have quite a distinct advantage over other players.  Personally, I think explosive rounds should simply go away.  ....but none of that has to do with microtransactions, greed or whatever else you want to call it.  It's simply game balance or lack thereof.

btw, R* is a publicly traded company so whether you like it or not, it has to be about the money.   ......but it is also about making a quality product which is necessary to succeed at making money.

The GaaS model is the future of gaming.  Folks can villainize MTXs as much as they want but in all honesty, these are what give games like this longevity.   GTAO wouldn't be the overwhelming success it is without them.  ......a game I still enjoy yet never once spent a dime of my money on a Shark Card.  As long as the model isn't P2W where items that provide an advantage (e.g. weapons, etc.) are locked behind real money, I'm ok with MTXs.  Besides, R* has long since confirmed that MTX locked items in RDO will only be cosmetic.

The game needs more options to suit more playstyles, more content ,etc. but certainly not some drastic overhaul as suggested.  .....IMO.
