  1. Nice!  Those super match rifles aren't cheap.

My nephew bought a Scout before I did.  .....the little punk.  ;)  He promised to take me shooting with it though.  :)

Had the chance to buy a Garand many years ago for cheap.  .....not hard to find back then.  I should have just made the purchase but we all know how that goes.

Rockstar did have something planned in terms of additional single-player content for GTA 5 at one point. “For those ready to jump back into the story of Grand Theft Auto V, we have big plans for substantial additions in 2014 continuing Michael, Franklin and Trevor's action, mayhem and unexpected adventures in Southern San Andreas,” Rockstar said in a post on the Rockstar website in 2013.

But that DLC never came to pass. Instead, Rockstar focused its efforts on bringing the game to a new generation of consoles and on Grand Theft Auto Online — a move that certainly worked out for the studio. Grand Theft Auto 5 has since sold more than 80 million copies, so it’s hard to fault Rockstar for its efforts.

So pending on how the story is told, it existed.  It was a business decision.  Now I want to say there was one article that claimed all three characters each got a additional story extension.  They said FU to the PvE only players and supported PvP Griefing atmosphere.  It made money!  Everything they seem to say vs what they are doing for RDR2, whether online or campaign.  It is following in the same business model as GTA5.  I would be very happy to be proven wrong, but their actions speak volumes, when there words aren't.

I don't think we've ever seen eye to eye on the subject of RDO and this is no different.  I see the same things you are but obviously not in the same light.  .....c 'est la vie.

.....you guys were another reason why this game was so enjoyable to play, not once, when people asked for help, did any of you treat us like a pure diddy, you took the time to answer and offer suggestions on how to solve the problem, so I thank you all for that.

That's one reason I joined this forum.

Folks here for the most part are welcoming, patient and considerate.  Yeah, we get the occasional individual who seems their only intent is to stir the pot but we have a great moderation team who helps keep this kind of stuff in check.  Even when folks disagree around here they tend to do it without the usual toxicity you see on some other sites.  .....perhaps a little ribbing here and there but mostly in good fun and civil.

Glad you liked the game and also glad you like the site.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Online Is extremely broken in so many ways. From the toxic community that stabs and shoots you in the back for no reason, losing all your hunting pelts and other materials because of players shooting you or you disconnecting, dying and having all your cores back down after having just used $15 worth of food items, the large amount of players level 300 (figure of speech) having unlocked extremely over powered ammo that is able to over power any new player, and finally the worst thing, spawning, getting locked on and killed instantly. If Rockstar is so desperate to have an auto aim system, at Least make it so that players don't instantly die after walking five feet from spawning from some guy that sits on their ass all day long. It's just so Unskilled to be able to so all this. They not only have auto aim, they also have bloom. A very annoying system that makes no sense. There are just so many things wrong with this game. I know it's a beta, but you as a developer need to get this stuff fixed. It's annoying a lot of players I can see that all over the Internet and it's really stupid. I paid $80 for this game and I expect it to be functioning properly and in a good state.

P.S. If you as a reader disagrees, let's have a civilized conversation with out saying "your bad at the game" (since you really can't be) or "its just a beta".

Hi @Ghostreaper240 and welcome to the site.

After reading your post I noticed you seem to be referring to us when you say "you".  Please note that RDR2.org is a fan site and not and official forum of R* or 2K.  However, R* does have a website they specifically created so people could provide feedback on the Red Dead Online Beta.  Below is a link:

    https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=f2e50892

Obviously, you're welcome to discuss these topics here and we encourage you to do so.  .....but I just wanted to let you know in case you thought your comments here would automatically be viewed by a R* / 2K rep.

I read the article from one of the head guys on that.  It was decided that their was no profit in Campaign Mode.  So they invested all their time and money into PvP.  In the gaming industry, some idiot decided that only PvP ( actually griefers who play PvP) will spend money.  Everyone else can go straight to hell.

I never recall R* or 2K ever saying anything about the SP /campaign aspect of the game not being "profitable".  In fact, they have been huge advocates for SP / campaign components in games while many in the industry have either been scaling them down or ditching them outright from their titles in favor of MP / PvP.

Here's one of the articles from 2017 where Imran Sarwar (from R*) talks about why they never release DLC for GTAV:

    Quote

No, it was not really a conscious decision, it’s just what happened. We would love to do more single-player add-ons for games in the future. As a company we love single-player more than anything, and believe in it absolutely – for storytelling and a sense of immersion in a world, multiplayer games don’t rival single-player games. With GTA V, the single-player game was absolutely massive and very, very complete. It was three games in one. The next-gen versions took a year of everyone’s time to get right, then the online component had a lot of potential, but to come close to realizing that potential also sucked up a lot of resources. And then there are other games – in particular Red Dead Redemption II. The combination of these three factors means for this game, we did not feel single-player expansions were either possible or necessary, but we may well do them for future projects. At Rockstar, we will always have bandwidth issues because we are perfectionists and to make huge complex games takes a lot of time and resources. Not everything is always possible, but we still love single-player open-world games more than anything. I don’t think you could make a game like GTA V if you did not like single-player games and trying to expand their possibilities!

Now, whether that means RDR2 will get DLC in the future, if it may in development now, etc., we simply don't know.

Something else I've also considered is R*s obvious direction in RDO to make this online experience more PvE and solo friendly including their future expansion of the online story and stranger missions.  In a way, the RDO experience is an extension of the story mode.  A way for the player themselves to become part of the RDR2 experience with their own character paving their own way in the same open game world.

IMO, R* has shown a distinct change of tack from GTAO with RDO.  They have shown with  past updates and future plans that they want RDO to be a more friendly environment for players than GTAO.  The Spring Update promises changes to daily challenges and even more anti-griefing measures to help mitigate the indiscriminate killing of other players.  .....and we still don't know what the future holds in the final release and beyond.

They may be taking some cues from the GTAO playbook but RDO is certainly shaping up to be a different animal.

Whether we get DLC for the story mode though, who knows....

  6. @James Hickok_1837,

Hey James. I know your intentions were good but I removed the description for the hack in your post. I would rather we not have anything repasted here from such sites that might unintentionally promote their purchase/use.

Personally, I would open a trouble ticket with R* and submit the link to them.  If it does work, it seems users would be able to get away with quite a lot.

  7. Their last announcement of a schedule was for four weeks which ended on 4/9.  The big Spring Update was announced for release in Spring.  There have been no changes to that plan as of today.  .....so, folks can still expect the update to hit sometime this Spring which ends in June on their calendar.

Personally, I never assumed RDO would be anything more than a beta rather than a full release and while I perhaps expected more content to roll out by this time, I never knew for sure that it would.  We can only go by what we know.

I will say that I did prepare for the possibility that RDO might take a while to get off the ground and that I might need to shelve it from time to time while things got rolling.  .....which I already did about a month or more ago.  I haven't logged in since and been playing another game in the meantime.  However, that doesn't mean I've given up on the game as I will most certainly be returning again and yeah, maybe even taking a break at some point and then returning and so on....

Unless something really gets screwed up (which I doubt because so far, I like the direction they are going), I'm in it for the long haul myself.

I haven't.  I tend to stick with names i know and trust for my toys of death.

I went out on a limb for my PSA AR15, but only cause my brother has a few of them in various calibers.  He got a .308 a few weeks before i ordered my .223.  His .308 kicks about as much as i'd expect this .223 to kick.  His 6 yr old shot it from their deck, using a bipod on the railing in standing position.  he fired it 3 times and wanted to shoot it more.  If that would have been my Remington .308 my nephew would have been imprinted in the wall about 10 ft behind him lol.

I'll have to look at RIA, never heard of them before.

Yeah, I can imagine that Remington leaves a lot of the recoil for your shoulder to absorb.  :)

I don't hunt but I had my eye on a 700 at one point.  .....but then I always really wanted an M1A and given I'll probably now only ever buy one more rifle, that would be it (.308 Win). Most likely the Scout model which is a good compromise with the 18" barrel or the standard version with the 24".  The SOCOM 16 is just a little too out of touch with the original look of the gun for me.

I also like to stick with names I either have good personal experiences with or have a reputation for quality / reliability.  When I was shopping for a 1911 I narrowed it down to Kimber TLE/RLII and Springfield MC Op.  What won me over to a Springer was the warranty and an arguably better reputation.   Kimber had a 1 yr warranty IIRC while Springfield offers one for a lifetime.  .....and their custom shop is well respected and has a really good rep.   The Kimber was also $200 more although I simply couldn't see anything that justified the mark up.

The reason I mentioned RIA is due to the number of owners I used to hear talk about them on the 1911 forums I would frequent.  ......I don't recall hearing much about the PT1911 but then again, that doesn't necessarily mean anything.  Still, there are folks will turn their noses up to either of those but I'm sure that's also due in part to their price rather actual experience with them.  Obviously, I wouldn't expect a $500 1911 to feel as refined or maybe even as dependable as a comparable $800 - $1000+ 1911 but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be unreliable.   Even so, with some custom work, any potential issues could likely be sorted and you might still be below the cost of the more expensive options.

  9. I typically post up things that are "official" and forego the rumor news.  .....so if something comes up that I catch, I'll certainly create a thread about it.

Having said that, I hadn't heard any of those particular rumors until I read your post.  Newsbot usually creates and posts articles on the the more popular rumblings though.  Unless a rumor gains traction and/or comes from a source that has proven to be reliable, I don't bother wasting my time with it to be honest.  There are a lot of things people are claiming out there and in some cases, just to get attention.

    That's a nice one.

S&W was the first handgun I owned so i've been looking at their E series

    https://www.smith-wesson.com/firearms/sw1911-e-series

But then also i love my Taurus 9mm so i've been debating between the S&W and the Taurus.  Taurus has better prices and i really like the black and stainless look.

A Ruger 10/22 was my first gun I bought myself.

I like S&W but one thing that turns me off on their 1911 (and other like it) is the external ejector.  Has nothing to do with functionality, just never looked right on a 1911 to me.  Guess some say the same about a rail though.  ;)

The PT1911 is certainly an inexpensive entry in the 1911 market.   .....about half the price of the SW1911 and about 1/3 the price of what I paid for my Springer (although there are other models they offer for less).  Between the two I might be tempted to go with S&W because of the refinement and my personal experience with the brand.

Have you checked out RIA?  Of the entry level 1911s they seem to have a good following.

  11. I do love a 1911.  I have a Springfield MC Operator myself.  Sweet shooter although I always intended to ditch the wrap-around Pachmayer grip with VZs like the latest model has.

....again, not a picture of mine but the exact same one:

  12. There is no update so I am not titling these Promos as "updates".  I will only create a thread with the usual "UPDATE **/**/**" title when there is a patch, new content, etc.

I will title these kinds of weekly specials as "Weekly Promo **/**/**".

  14. Something else to consider is using the iOS/Android App as well.  While fishing, your minimap is not available but you can still view in the in-game map with the app.  .....helps lessen the vulnerability when engaged in this activity by still providing some situational awareness.

  15. The OP hasn't been on the forum for over a month and wasn't on for a while before that.  As I mentioned in this thread  last year, they only come on weeks or months later to simply say the same thing about the game which they have long since given up on.

.......wasted breath IMO and not worth the resurrection.

  16. There's more to it than that EC.  I would watch some YT videos like Dredd mentioned.  There are signs of where fish are that you need to pay attention to, etc.  It's not overly complicated but a good tutorial will help show you what you need to know and it would be better IMO to see what to do in this case than for one of us to explain it through text.
