If it wasn't for you posting these updates, I would not know about them. This sounds interesting but not really my cup of tea. I don't mind more PVP things being added but I want something that will tickle my fancy better.

The big Spring update that's coming will have some game changing mechanics in it.

HA!! Yes, I know you were and so was I. I was trying not to talk too much about it since this is an RDO board.

My reference was to those wandering armed NPCs out on patrol or looking for supplies that have stepped in sometimes when I'm being outgunned. So when I see other NPCs about to be executed, I return the favor when I can.

    Oh, gotcha.

Hi,can anyone help, does anyone remember that glitch when this game first came out where you could pick up gold bars over and over in that burnt out town ? I started this game but didn’t have time to continue it until now, so I want to start from the beginning, I know they’ve probably patched it but if i reinstall the whole game turn off patch updates so it’s at 1.00 collect the gold then save and then update will that work ? Thanks

If I'm not mistaken, it's been patched.  Also, I heard R* had reset some other player's ill-gotten gains who were using other exploits so I would use any of these at your own risk.  In other words, your effort may be for naught if you do.  .....ymmv.

Try YouTube if you're really interested in cheats, exploiting glitches, etc.  I don't really think that's something management really wants to encourage or condone here.

I also appreciate your RDO updates. Please keep them coming, they save me time and keep me informed when I don't log in.

And about that thing I quoted, I can't leave them hanging when I see them either. On occasion, some of them have just wandered up and saved my bacon, so I try and do the same for them.

Thanks.  Yeah, regarding the updates.  I still visit this site regularly in between other stuff I'm doing throughout my day (usually when I sit down for a minute, check email, etc.).  I'm not going anywhere unless mngmnt has other plans.  😲

....and about the quote, I was actually talking about the Division 2.  That's what Creed and I have been playing lately.  I'll be revisiting the game when the Spring update hits and maybe even before in between other games.  It's just not my go to title at the moment but will likely always be one I play to some extent just like I do with GTAO.

I'm just now getting into the endgame, and cover/tactics are absolutely necessary for survival--really, they're the game's core mechanic.  I solo most of the content (though that may change if it gets too much harder), and the days of walking someone down with a shotgun or standing out of cover with a sniper rifle are a thing of the past--even in the jump from TD1 to TD2.  The enemy AI balance between skill deployment, tactics, flanking, and reliance on teamwork are amazing.

I've only slept for six hours in the past two days combined.  Much like RDO (when I can manage to stay on for more than ten minutes at a time), it quickly devolves into "just one more mission/bounty/checkpoint/stronghold...." like an oblivious alcoholic telling themselves, "I can quit any time I want to..."

I do like the strategy change in this iteration of the series.  Cover is absolutely essential and for what it is, I do enjoy it.  .....but while tactics are necessary, they're also relatively limited or simplistic IMO.  A lot of that has to do with limitations in the mechanics of the game though.  For example, if crouching or the ability to go prone were introduced, this would certainly open up new ways in which you could approach engagements, use various bits of the environment for concealment/cover, sneak up on positions, etc.  As it is, you are limited to available cover that you are allowed to "snap" to.

Personally, that was one aspect of GRW that I loved even with it's flaws.  .....especially the lethality.  That was the most fun I had playing with friends in a game in a long time.  A lot of freedom in the way you could approach objectives, choose roles, etc.

.....but, TD1 and TD2 are still fun for me.  Just a different kind of fun.   ....and yeah, when working with a friend or two, it is satisfying when everything clicks.  We usually establish fall back positions when possible and communicate as we push forward, suppress, flank, reloading, etc.  The folks I play TD2 with were the same folks I played GRW with so we already have a rapport going and know how to communicate with one another.

It's even fun solo as I've already got 43 hrs into it (and 21 hrs in coop). .....much, much more to go.

49 hours down, and I JUST hit L30 last night, with 5-8 missions to go (unless I'm missing something).

And that's just to start progression through Endgame and World Tiers.

    Then there's the

      Reveal hidden contents

    Hunters

and the Tidal Basin Raid drops on Friday.

I've got 43 hours in solo play and 21 hours in coop play.  For my solo character, I'm at level 24 and still have about 1/3 of the map to really explore.  .....not including side missions and other activities I still dabble in within the other zones I've cleared.

I'm taking my time and there's still tons of action.  I try not to use fast travel too often and I get involved where I can in random activities (e.g. friendly engagements, faction fights, hostage rescues, wandering enemies, broadcasts, supply drops, etc.).

Don't worry, won't be visiting this site anymore.

    Not even worth the time.

Anything mentioned from me is 90% viewed as moot point to a good majority.

    Ya'll have fun.

    That's your choice.  Good luck.

So, I got The Division 2 to play after RDR2.  Made it up to Level 4 so far after a couple of sessions.

I got reminded immediately about how well Rockstar has done with RDR2.  The Division doesn't have the glorious graphics, it doesn't have the personality of the story, and is over-complicated in terms of the resource management aspect.  I do like the cover transitions though - they're pretty neat.

Yeah, definitely a different ball of wax.  TD1 and TD2 are RPG looter shooters.  In that genre, I think the franchise does it well as I'm not a big fan of Destiny and the like.  Hell, I'm not even a huge fan of the Division but I like it better than most in that type of game.

I would really rather be playing tactical shooters than looter shooters.  Although they stopped short of delivering what could have been a really cool game, I thought Ghost Recon Wildlands was one the best things Ubi had released in a long time.  .....until they started dumbing it down instead of building on what made it unique in the console market.

Just curious has anyone managed to get the fishing challenge pop up during free roam?

I have been online, doing free roam for at least four hours, 5x now since release and nadir, doodly squat.

We have an active thread on the topic in General.  I will merge this thread with that one.

seriously though, it’s an online game with built in voice functionality. I hate how 95% or more don’t use it. Even when you try to initiate dialogue. It’s a personal gripe of mine when it comes to the other players... hell, even having my head taken off with a double barrel for no apparent reason would be easier to handle if the shooter followed up with ‘sorry. Daily challenge’

It's the kind of stuff that looks great on paper but falls flat on execution.  Most players out there playing online games either don't have mics or refuse to use them.   .....and those that do either abuse it or would rather not deal with those people so they mute or use party chat.

I can't tell you how long it's been since I actually heard someone else talk in RDO when playing Free Roam alone.  I've checked my settings several times just to be sure.

  11. @The_Liquor is right.  This should be no surprise and what we should expect up to at least April 9th (next Tuesday).  That is the end date of this schedule they provided to us.  Whether that means the big Spring Update comes the next week after that or we should expect more, smaller updates, I don't know.

For me, I'm neck deep in another game right now and haven't touched RDO for the last 3 weeks or so.  I'm just waiting until the the big one drops.  I'm in it for the long haul.

I really dont want it to become another carebear island. It should be harsh, unforgiving world of the wild west ! There are tons of carebear games out there. Hunting, farming and so on.

I have nothing against the hunting, fishing, pickings herbs or even peaceful exploring in this game. That's not what my post was about.  It's obvious that these activities are all part of the overall experience R* wanted to provide it's players and I don't mind it.

I was simply saying that I personally don't see how a food share program works in all this or feel that it's even needed given the ease of acquiring ones own food. It also (IMO) doesn't fit into the whole idea of how people are required to work/grind for their items, money, etc.

With food, you are required to either aquire it by hunting/cooking, looting/robbing or buy it through vendors.  If you're hunting with friends, you can already share parts or whole kills.

The whole thing is being blown out of proportion.

    I agree.....

My own take on this whole food share idea is that it's really a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.  Gathering food is already ridiculously easy enough for anyone to do as is cooking.  As for actual sharing, you can already do that with friends or randoms nearby (if you want to take that chance).  I do it all the time when I have a good carass, large pelt, meat, etc.  I'll let my friend take it or vice versa when we go hunting together.

A good portion of the RDO experience is about the grind and some of the routines folks need to go through.  .....and hunting, cooking and/or buying your own food from a vendor to maintain your character is part of that.  The same an be said about leveling and earning enough money to create or unlock certain ammo types for yourself.

Why does enjoying survival games make someone creepy? 😕

I meant if you like creepy and enjoy HC survival....   In other words, The Forest is a creepy, HC survival game.  .....not that you would be creepy for liking it.  😄
