Ok! I learned something today! , been far more into a new run trough in the story mode.
What is it people do to max out the missions? - When we start on ex the Fort mission, what is it people do, that can max out money and xp? I dont get it 😮Clear the fort, after you kill Samson's partner set a timer for 25 minutes but don't blow up the supplies until 25 minutes has gone by. During that time you just do whatever, hunt, fish, pick flowers, take a nap, make dinner. For whatever reason Rockstar felt that they should reward you for how long it takes you to do the mission rather than how fast.
Also big tip, Do NOT die. One death is acceptable but try not to. Take out the dude with the machine gun first, most people duck inside the cabin directly to the left just be careful there's a guy in there with a shotgun. I've found it easier to tackle and execute rather than just try to shoot him. Samson's partner can be difficult as you are better off shooting him through the window rather than kicking the door open cuz he too has a shotgun.

A lot of it has to do with people not mic'ing up or communicating in PUGs. Two weeks ago I ran into two players in a mission who explained to me what they were doing, and I was more than happy to go along with the plan. It ended up being quite enjoyable--much more so than aimlessly wandering around the map trying to grind out pelts for cash.
This game was designed for grouping up, there's no two-ways about it. I loathe grouping with randoms, but I got lucky and found a couple groups to float in and out of who are of a similar mindset, and clear communication does a lot to make the game more enjoyable in the absence of actual endgame content or a "passive' toggle. Now, when I'm on, I actively look to group up because the game is a completely different experience than playing solo.
They probably should have told you what they were doing, or they assumed you were aware of the exploit that R* has built into missions. The intent isn't to "ruin it for others"--it's to help others maximize their time in the game.  Every group I've been a part of the last two weeks has implemented this strategy to get the biggest XP and $$$ payout from the mission they're playing. Once someone explained it to me, I was more than happy to go along for the ride. It also made the game far more enjoyable as I met some fun players to talk to, and eventually group with in Free Roam. Â
And let me tell you, riding in a group of three or four in Free Roam has been a game-changer. Duos and single players keep an eye on you from afar, but they don't dare get close. Safety in numbers is a very real thing in the FR experience. But getting back to the groups; if you want to smash out missions as quickly as possible, you're probably better off finding a group of like-minded individuals and forming a posse, or else talking to the people in your pugs about what you want to do instead of judging them for having a different (albeit legitimate) strategy for completing the mission.
I did overlook that in my response. Personally I've met a few cool people by letting them know what we were doing if there was just 3 of us and we get a random if we didn't ready up fast enough.
And I can attest to grouping up being a game changer. The thing with delaying missions and being in a large posse really sped up my ranking. Also allowed me to learn from them and the things we experienced together.
I'd invite you @BropolloCreed79 to join us some time if you like. Most of us are 100+ but there are some lower too. Usually there's enough online to form two posses or more. Loyal yet rambunctious group lol. Add me if you like. I'll be online in a couple hours.

Also good for those slippery bastards if you don't have paint it black. Or even if you do and want to see people fly. Or knock people off something you either can't get up to or have difficulty getting to.

Did you consider the fact, that the reason i wrote what i did, is because i did NOT know that was their intention? 🙂 Chill down!
- I have like others experienced players, who dont do it for any benefit, either than ruining the experience for others.. So i am a bit Skeptic!
I am chill. I am just explaining what they were doing.
And I've come across a lot of people that can't comprehend how the high ranks got ranked so fast and label it as hacking or some other thing.

If that WAS their intention, i wish i had the ability to strip their level, and bring them back to level 1, losing all their stuff!
Its so unfair, people trying to ruin it for others.. Those are the ones we should all team up, and kill together.. Over and over again! 😧How is it ruining it? They are doing that because the longer you take at the mission the more exp and me money you get, maxing out at $60 and 1057 exp. While also being able to hunt and dynamite fish and sell stuff during the wait. So it's benefiting you, not hurting you. Unless you like getting 200 exp and $10.
That's partially how those high ranks got their ranks. Same formula goes for free roam missions, wait until the last 10 seconds before turning in and you get more at a maximum of $30 and 747 exp. Again hunting and fishing while you're able to.Â
Don't hate on people who know how to maximize their time.

Unfortunately, I've run into a couple low level loaners that no matter how many times we put them down they continued to come back for more. They were determined to be as irritating as they could even though they were no actual threat to our safety. .....we just couldn't continue to do what we were doing.Â
There's no fun in being steamrolled by greater numbers and/or superior leveled players but there is also no joy in having to continually kill the same player over and over again because they won't leave you alone and accept defeat. .....griefing comes in many forms.
Seems we used to be able to run off players like that but now more seem to just keep hanging around trying to be as much of a bother as they can.
Then if they are that persistent we just let our more trigger happy members distract them while we continue to do missions. They are more like flies than anything at that point.

If it's more than two people then the whole army of friends we've built will rain hellfire down upon them. This happened last night against 4. Three friends (most of us over rank 100 nowadays) turned into 12, and they saw how many of us kept popping up and ran then left the session.Â
Same happened in strawberry, some cocky rank 40 shot one of our members for no reason and we were fairly nearby and we all lit up red. He probably sh*t himself, cuz he tried to run then ran into an NPC then I guess left the session or disconnected.Â
So yeah that's how we handle griefers, scare the sh*t out of them with numbers/force.

Literally read that in Will Arnett's "Lego Batman" voice.
I will admit to restarting my online character about four or five times for the right facial look, and spending some of the free gold R* provided for the "shirtless with black overalls and flat cap" look that I was going for (he looks like an 1890's meth head but with better teeth). But the only thing I ever shop for now is the occasional resupply or a new weapon.
Speaking of new weapons, would it kill R* to add in some more melee weapon variety? I would love to use a shovel, myself.
That is a very attractive look that I've seen on some characters. I got ganged up on by 4 dudes in that style and I couldn't even get mad at it lol.
I did spend like 30 minutes on character creation, I'm still not completely satisfied, but it'll do. My current favorite is the light blue paisely vest (i had arthur wearing it most of the storymode so it's mostly sentimental), white rolled up sleeves shirt, black bandana, the ultimate edition gunslinger hat (black with a feather, really need that trapper to come into the game maaaan), fitted jeans, some boots i can't remember what they are, but they look more feminine.Â
And I mean I thought we had a bunch of melee weapons as it is. But yeah I would like to see some non blade melee weapons though, ngl. And to be able to set traps other than dynamite. Fightin tactics right up my alley right there.

I fail to see the issue. Efficiency and skill should be rewarded, not penalized. It'd be one thing if people could be induced to purchase gold to "level up" quicker in a P2W scheme to unlock weapons, but literally the only reason to buy gold is for cosmetics; either with clothing or guns, so letting folks level efficiently though missions makes far more sense than having them just tool around for 20-30 minutes to max out XP and cash in a mission. The missions, are far more entertaining than most of the content in free roam. It'd be on thing if the enemy hideouts spawned more often, but since they don't they aren't.
I fail to see the issue as well. But it's something I've seen a previous mmo I used to play do, except at least rockstar made it like this from the start (the other mmo would present an event or content, and then realize that the players are "too good" at it, then nerf the drops or make it so that people couldn't do it so fast and get more out of it).
You know there's gonna be some people, a lot of people probably, that will be willing to dish out $20 or $100 just to buy clothing. Cuz "you can't fight crime if you don't look good". And they don't want to wait for the rank. I have a couple friends who literally spend a couple hours at the tailor every few days making new outfits, it's crazy (I personally don't, picked an outfit out a month ago and stuck with it).

That's something they need to address. I was in a group the other day that did this, where we wouldn't finish a mission and go hunting, shooting, etc.... based on the mission we were playing, and then load up on pelts/feathers for half an hour before finishing the mission for both $$ and XP.
If anything, the missions should reward speed and efficiency, and there should be diminishing returns for certain tiers of speed. Why they have it set up the way they do is beyond me.
It's because the missions are easy and people, like my posse, can get deadly efficient and quick. We'd be banging out probably 20+ missions I'm less than an hour if it meant getting more money and exp. The more pay out with time is meant to slow is down, not for our sakes but because it benefits the company on how much time we waste in the game.
Something like that...

It all eventually comes down to personal preference. Some say Arabian is better, others turkoman, I prefer the foxtrotter as I've had the best experience with it.Â
But yes overall, on paper, the black Arabian is better than the white one. Even if at full bonding you can recover the stamina, still better to have a more full bar than not.Â

It's funny. I usually select free roam in Ambarino so I spawn in away from everyone else. I still end up with other players in my general vacinity.
Must be very unlucky cuz I've only spawned in once where there was a posse leader and one other nearby but they rode past me fortunately.Â
It is gonna make me a little more paranoid when I go into town with pelts though. I'll have to break out my ultimate sneakin tactics.
Also I'd hope they disable the player list when you open your map you can select someone and see exactly where they are. I don't mind the player list on the D pad, but the map one needs to go for sure.

Those player blips would have been useful last night. Cuz I had a posse of 180+ come from Annesburg to strawberry where myself and a few friends were, just to grief us (we range from rank 45 to 120). I'm assuming it's just because we were the only high ranks in the session. Seems to be happening a lot lately. Which is a good and bad thing.

Is there a difference in speed once horse bonding is complete? It says the black starts off with more speed but they both have the same max speed bar.
It's only a difference in stamina and health. Same speed and acceleration.

Ok, so I tested this throughout the weekend and I'm pretty certain that having a hi level carcass on your horse makes hideouts and outlaws spawn more frequently. The first time I tested this I went to 10 hideout spots without an animal on my horse and one hideout spawned. I then joined a new session  and went to the same hideouts and 4 spawned with an ambush as well. The second time I stayed in the same session, repeated the test and found 0 spawned without the deer and with the deer I got 3 hideouts/2 ambushes. I also looted 2 treasure maps as well. It's also worth noting that both times I spawned in tumbleweed and fast traveled to Rhodes, so my side of the map wasn't filled with other players.
Ya know I noticed that too. I was up north of annesburg hunting. Had some 3 star pelts and a cougar and I was just traveling along the railroad killing stuff as I made my way slowly to Valentine as StD was too full of people. I ran into 3 hideouts and an ambush. I hardly ever see anything when I'm not carrying stuff.

I'm not saying you're wrong - you're probably right, but its kind of pathetic, isn't it?! There is literally no penalty for dying in the game (if you aren't carrying pelts/carcasses, or are killed by the law, obviously), it's weird where some people can find their fun.
It usually takes most of a minute to leave and rejoin a free roam session. That seems like a higher punishment for the fool headshotting a random player minding their own business than anything that can be meted out in-game.
They just go find some other poor sap to do it to. Had a 176 and 164 come after me, pop me after they had rode by and even waved. Killed them a couple times after then went to my camp. They stood there awhile, then when some random rank 16 rode nearby, they darted after him and started on him. Went out and blasted them couple more times with dynamite arrows long enough for the lowbie to get away.
Some people have nothing better to do.

I've experienced this, too.
The weird thing is that there ARE no consequences for griefing, so I'm not sure what they are trying to escape from.
Escape from getting their as** handed to them in a fair fight. If people wanna start sh*t they better be ready to get hit. But everyone's afraid of pixel death so there's a ton of cowards around.

That's all I got. I'm still thinking maybe March or April. But I'm just guestimating at this point judging by how he said a few weeks.

I immediately report users like this for disruptive behavior and then block them. Knock on wood but I've been lucky so far in being able to do this before they log off. Â
Personally, I would also submit feedback on the R* website. IMO, this is something beyond the normal griefing issue given that people using these kinds of hit & run tactics could certainly make things worse over time. Even with the anti-griefing mechanics R* has talked about implementing, I could see something like this being used to escape consequences if this exploit isn't taken into account when they implement them.
Yeah they need to make it like other mmos. Where if you're in "combat" or recently attacked or was attacked, you can't log out. But then again they could just close the application. So I don't know what else could be done to moderate that once anti griefing tactics finally hit. Make it so that if you hit and run you automatically get a fine. I don't know man. Luckily I've only been killed once and only cuz he spawned right next to me, but my friend though man he was killed like 5 times in an hour by 5 different people lol.

So I've noticed a weird trend this week and I am sure it's not people just disconnecting coincidentally. This happened to me and my friend/posse as often as 5-8 people an hour. But like, someone will either run up or suddenly spawn next to or near me. Either shoot at or kill me, then immediately log out or run away and log out. This happens almost everyday and I can't for the life of me think as to why someone would log in to shoot someone once then log out, or run up to you and do that then log out. Anyone can enlighten me?

I’ve grown used to the Arabian. I also have a vid where I’m charged by 3 wolves while on horseback. I wheel around, draw my dual sawed offs (so you know this is all happening close range), and take each of the 3 wolves in 1 shot as they charge at me down the road. The horse only reared on the 3rd shot, because the wolf literally gets so close it skidded to the foot of the horse virtually when I shot it, from momentum. Even then, the horse didn’t throw me, it was a pretty controlled single rear.
Â
I was not pressing L3 at all during all this.
Â
I shoot from the back of this horse ALL the time and have the horsemanship damage card. Do you think the game is so complicated that each horse gets accustomed to gunshots the more you shoot from it? Because mine, while it ‘red warning’ indicates here and there, doesn’t buck me no matter how much I fire. It DOES get a little fidgety to the point I can’t just cold swap to a scoped rifle because it very subtly is shifting, that requires sometimes an L3 pat. Then we’re good again.
Â
PS: I like a spirited horse such as the Arabian. Like @Renascent I like the fact the horse has a mind of its own, and I like that in certain situations I can count on the fact it WILL getting the hell outta dodge. For instance, I often whistle so my horse follows along on cart/coach missions, and it does a good job of getting out of the way if I’m not on it while gunfire breaks out.
I kind of feel like each individual horse has its own personality or it does get accustomed to you shooting from it. My other Fox trotter that I have doesn't perform as well as Lucy does. And I find that kind of weird. Lucy is my main horse I ride almost all the time. I can get her to cross rivers to get to me. I left her on one of those islands and I thought to try to call her to me to see if she'd actually come. She tried crossing 2-3 times, then she finally got across but her stamina was in the red lol. I have a video of that too because I was honestly surprised.
She has a killer spirit just like me <3. I called her once and she ran a deer over and killed it running to me lol.
And the L3 thing is mostly a precaution and habit at this point. I don't want to end up in a situation where she actually does buck me off and it gets me killed. But I find that out does steady them faster or they don't get upset as fast.
-
Got a video of my horse with about 4-5 wolves. She rears up but doesn't buck me off. I was holding L3 down the whole time which is why she doesn't seem too upset for awhile. Also her name is Lucy  💗

It really comes down to opportunity for me. When I spawn in, I get shot in the head by some try-hard with a Varmit Rifle within about twenty seconds while I orient myself about half the time.
If I have time, I whistle over my horse and take off for the largest gap in the player blips on my mini map until I get some distance to plot my next move. More often than not, I spawn into firefights if I just enter free roam, and even when I select region-specific entries, R* tends to put me into a game that's densely populated when I spawn (probably by design).
IMO, it's more than a bit ridiculous to have people wait to load, spawn, and then spend ten minutes riding across the map for some peace and quiet, or attempting to do a mission.
You could try choosing to spawn up in Colter (snowy area). There's almost never anyone up there. And even if there is they are usually pretty far away.

My Foxtrotter is hella calm. She doesn't start getting upset unless I'm rapidly firing shots (ie killing birds), and even then she stays put. I've only ever been bucked twice and it was reasonable (bear right on me, 9 wolves surrounding me). They can also apparently take 2-3 shotgun blasts and still stay standing. (I charged someone that was trying to kill me and ran him over).Â
Just remember to HOLD L3 down to keep them calm, no matter what breed of horse. And unless a grizzly is about to bite your face off, you can almost always keep your horse chill.
