I think releasing it early in the month means a lot more people who are in college will have time to play over spring break and also they won't have to panic so much if something does go wrong. The closer to summer the game gets released the more people will be on it daily and for hours.

What doesn't make sense is that Rockstar has never really been one to showcase anything at E3. So yeah. I don't see it happening.
That's from last year. When rumours about a possible new Red Dead showing at E3 were at an all time high. This justification of Red Dead not being at E3 because "it was cancelled last minute" probably comes from a well known bullshitter called Raiden. I just can't find the post now but if you go to /r/reddeadredemption and search for "Raiden" you'll know what I'm saying.
