So basically you will have to have a whole different mode. Every mission can be tampered with the exception of a few. The game actual rewards you for doing so. So players that are afraid of player interaction will either need a whole different server . As it is now, you take a money bag mission and another player takes your bag, he is a griefer (in many eyes).

I've joined open posses but either get kicked, kicked then attacked, or wait around too long for nothing to happen. It was wishful thinking I suppose, but probably wont try that again; for some reason some people have open posses but don't want anyone to join.
Not always true. I sometimes leave it open if a friend tells me they are loading in. But in that minute someone always pops in. The invite feature doesn’t work properly all the time, leaving it open temporarily is the only option.

I disagree. They should parley, leave the area or leave the game. They crossed that imaginary line the moment they opened fire depending one how and when they shot.
Lol?
Maybe I do need a shrink. This is my brain when I start fighting against griefers..
Dope song and I feel the same way. Guess we both need the same Dr.....lol.
Meet the Monster by Five Finger Death Punch .......sums up my mood as well in RDRo when I get popped unprovoked. Lol

In all fairness, a player who keeps charging at you guns a blaze. Aren't poor innocent victims. They are participating in PvP. They are openly begging for your assists to respawn. Regardless if it be you, HuDawg, or any other player, everyone is participating in PvP. Go to town. Have fun with it.
Please don't confuse catering to and balance as being the same. The DZ was chaotic, it could have been balanced as well. It never was once again Ubisoft and Massive didn't want it balanced. They wanted wolves and they wanted sheep. Yet they advertised PvEvP. They advertised it as PvE where PvP could happen. They also made it the End Game and gave players no option but to play PvP. Yet I enjoyed both, pending on my mood. Now when you have 20 PvP players standing there and doing nothing but waiting for some PvE farmers to come in and take down a landmark. There is and issue with your PvP. Though they claimed not to fear dying in the DZ, none of them wanted to take a chance and become a sheep. They all wanted to be a wolf. So they stood around bored until someone volunteered to be a sheep. By the way just incase you are one of those, "Don't touch my DZ, leave it as is!" die hard PvP players. You got a DZ that got dumbed down, not balanced, cause they kept striving to force PvE players into the DZ. Each update they kept nerfing the DZ, cause fewer and fewer PvE players was going in. The PvP players kept pushing them out, cause they refused to PvP with their peers. All I can say is being a Day 1 player, sure missed the Day 1 DZ. Back then PvP meant something. PvE never really did get any End Game and TD2 sounds like it is going to be treated exactly the same.
On the other hand, at least a PvE player does have a chance to fight back as where Ubisoft and Massive created 2 different builds either PvP and PvE. Where a PvE player couldn't hurt a well built PvP build. Ubisoft really hated PvE players. Lost 90% of their player base in just a few months and said good riddance.
I played Division for a good 18months(Day1 player). I just burned myself out. But I had no issues with players. I enjoyed farming, rouge hunting and their version of raids. I sometimes would have people in the Dz with me who thought they should be able to farm in peace. Their refusal to even attempt to defend themselves hurt not only just them but the team. I understand if your playstyle is PVE....but why play games that force you to PVP too? I don’t know why you would do that to yourself.

Why exactly, would you kill another player 50 times for killing your friend once? During those 50 killings, is there at some point that, that you may stop and ask yourself. You know this player hasn't stopped me yet? Just maybe he or she may have learned their lesson? At some point they may have just stopped firing back at you? Just saying, at some point it is you being a di*k. Your point was probably proven 47 killings ago.
As stated before, they quit blocking content and private lobbies could be a fix. They always block content, cause they want us all in the same servers. So your Band-aid server fixes nothing. Now what you are calling band-aids are weak ass attempts at fixes that they had no interests in fixing. Proven by them giving new and better ways to grief. If they want to fix, they need fixes. Your private lobbies where they punish players for PvE. Is super weak ass attempt at fixing. Cause they aren't fixing anything they are running away from it. They are separating their player base and then have to push players back to where they want them. PvEvP doesn't work without balance. FFA is called fortnite, or gunrush, or PvP only modes. Just remember PvP doesn't need the PvE. They can settle on some small map and be perfectly fine.
To be fair, a lot of these morons will keep running at you . You have to kill them repeatedly. They are dense and can’t take a hint. But I will happily kill you as many times as you like. No need to chase you because you keep coming to me with your lemming mentality.
Much like The Divsion, people want an open world game to cater to a certain pve crowd. The DZ was a sh*t show but I loved the chaotic vibe. I bought the game knowing this and was fine with it. I wouldn’t expect a game to cater to my play style. If I don’t like it, I move on ( ie For Honor). This argument will never end because PVE only players want to hunt in peace and harmony, others want to watch the world burn and people like me learn to adapt. Best thing R* can do is stick to whatever their vision is for the game. When you start chopping and dicing core mechanics.....you end up with a waterdown product. This is the main reason I left Destiny 2. Bungie listened to the whiners, causing a watered down product.

How about this for a solution? You want to kill other players fine, but make it so that doing so triggers the wanted system like killing an NPC. If a witness(player or NPC) sees you killing another player, you are reported to the law. When the law brings you down, you are placed in "jail" effectively locking you out of online play for a set time period, say a couple of minutes. The more you kill before the law gets you, the longer your "jail" time. I think that would be a more realistic punishment for murder.
There is a flaw with this though. What if a player/posse is attempting to kill me and keeps getting killed by me on respawn. This idiot just keeps coming and coming. I kill him say 10X he kills me say once. Now I have to pay a fine for defending myself against this moron? How is that fair to me? This happens daily with me. Guy pops me from behind with a shotty and keeps getting killed from that point forward by me. But under this system I would be penalized for self defense? That isn't right. Sorry. I'm not going to run away from a fight.

I 100% agree.
Hell last night I spent an hour killing some random griefer while my friends hunted and fished.
At one point I swapped cards and went to my slippery bastard build.. and just kept tying him with a lasso and burning him alive with moltovs. LOL
Man I love putting on Slippery Bastard and watching griefers get all confused. LOL. I have used the lasso/moltovs combo too. Good times.
We were holding a wagon for a mission last night (get that xtra Xp), and this 4 man posse kept trying to get to it. For 6 mins these fools kept coming and coming. I loved every minute of it. Your typical Varmit spammers who couldn't figure out how I was tanking headshots. Thank you Slow & Steady. We all racked up tons of XP .
My Posse does this as well, we will maybe have a player or two fend off the troll/s while the rest complete the missions. Works like a charm. But than again I roll with a lot of trigger happy gunners who have no problems shooting back. I use to run with a crew that was timid as a damn field mouse and it would drive me nuts. Not one of them wanted to stand their ground. They always wanted to run away or switch servers. I had to stop playing with them because I am not wired like that.

That's what I'm saying. People just wanna sit here and complain and not try to do anything about but want the game to completely change because they too weak or bad. I got my ass handed to me when I first started out. But I learned, adapted, got better, ranked up hard. Now I dare a mofo to roll up on me and try something.
Like if you aren't that great in pvp then posse up, network. Or get better at running out avoiding stuff.
Thank you. Exactly. I wasn't the greatest at first either. I spend most of my time cursing Varmint users. But I forced myself to get better so that I could hold my own. Otherwise I mind as well shelf this game. But I got better, maxed out ability cards, met a good core of knowledgeable players, etc. Like you, I now have the "I wish a motherfu**a would attitude". It takes time and work to hold your own, and that is what I loved. The game FORCED me to get better. Adapt or Perish.

Funny because that's exactly what I think every time I see you going on about trying to control players actions. (Yet offer no real solutions)
Either Bring your own balance and accountability.. Or ask for Private lobbies.
The game is designed to be a FREE FOR ALL. Theres nothing you can do about it without ruining the free for all aspect of the game.
I find the best way to deal with griefers or whatever, is getting better or having some gunners in your posse. This keeps them accountable. If they attack you and you annihilate them, they will retreat most times. Learn to defend yourself. I remember I use to sherpa groups in the Dz(The Division), and it would drive me nuts when the group got jumped people rather flee than fight. Why not fight back??!! It was part of the game as much as it is in RDRO. Predators always go for the easy meal. I don't want this game to get watered down into a Western Farmville. Private lobbies is the balance, otherwise you kill the essence of Free for All. Many players don't mind being among the wolves and hyenas. For players that don't, Private servers would be your safe haven.

If I have no one on, I will join randoms. Big issue most make no attempts to communicate and they make no attempts to coordinate. They just do their thing and hope you follow along.
Down side is I am starting to run solo far too often. Not much need to join co-op if you don't get to co-op. I just hope more friends will come to the game or hope that those few I know start playing more when I am on.
Most of the people I use to game with are still logging crazy hours a week on Destiny 2. I just got burnt on the grind , in fighting among clan mates, mind numbing grind, etc. So I haven't touched it since last DLC. No one I knew played RDRO. I stumbled upon a great community of people and I feel that makes RDRO fun. Now I had run into a ton of annoying players that I ran with once and that was it. But when you find a good group of players, it makes all the difference IMO. It is amazing how much you get done when you have a group all on the same page. Much like Destiny 2 , being part of a good group of people makes a world of difference. Games like this are more fun with others.

I have just learned to avoid people and quickly determine friendly from hostile. If I just want to hunt and fish I go to areas where no one is around. If one area that I want isn't clear then I go to the next. I have many hunting and fishing spots. I usually don't have any problems anymore now that I do that. I do check the map every so often. And if someone does come near enough that it picks up in the minimap I check to see what they are doing and get ready to run/fight. I had a pretty clear day last Friday doing the moving around thing solo. Got a lot of missions done, hunting in between, very productive with minimal pvp.
Otherwise, I don't think I could play this game without the threat of pvp. It wouldn't be challenging enough, in my opinion. I love having to be alert. I get that some people don't want to be that vigilant though. I am in favor of private lobbies, just don't change how the pvp is now.
I do think there needs to be a few more 'safe" spots to relax (ie. the damn butcher, y'all know the pain).
I hear you. I do 99% of my hunting solo, and that is just to replenish supplies. I might grab a panther every now and than because it is good money. I never have an issue hunting or fishing, but I don't go in areas where I see a bunch of erratic pink dots either. Can't emphasize enough that the Companion App is your best friend. I also may knock out some missions solo .
I don't shy away from the PVP , I actual welcome it. This is a big reason I was excited for Online. My posse and I welcome people trying to interfere with our missions. We all like getting the extra Xp a gun fight provides. Hell, we even hopped to another server to answer a challenge/setup recently. But it was probably one of the best experiences I have had online.
I'm all for private servers, but please don't change things. I don't mind a fight and will never shy away from one. I love the challenge. I would be bored out of my mind if other players were not trying to mess with me. There is no better feeling than making a player leave a server after he thought attacking you was a good idea while you were skinning a gator.

RDO way more fun with friends than alone. Anyone can play solo but helping out friends, co-op'ing in missions and simply sharing the whole experience is much more rewarding IMO / IME. .....and I do mean friends, not randoms (that's a whole different story).
To be quite honest, playing with friends is probably the only thing still keeping me going right now with the lack of content.
Very true. I enjoy running with my friends laughing and having a good time. Also providing protection to lower level players in the group is satisfying. Easier to keep the wolves at bay when you have legit backup. If it wasn't for friends, I really don't know if I would be playing as much either.

Lone wolf is fun, but taking over a server is the best (IMO). We had three 7-man posses running the other night in the same server and it was awesome. Everyone just grinding out missions and watching each others back. Going to try and lockdown a server completely so people can fight club , hunt/fish, or do missions without any worries.

Sadly by you saying your "friendly" , you can cause wolves/trolls to flock to you. It can backfire on you. There are some chill people out there though. I always have the Companion App up watching other players movements/activity. I have had a player roll up before and kinda trail our posse cautiously. I finally asked him what did he want. He was just trying to posse up and I sent him an invite. Really cool dude. So it isn't always bad.

I made the same mistake leaving my posse option open as well and your right about people joining really fast. At the time three people joined me in just a few seconds, so I started a online story mission Kill Them, Each and Every One and guess what! They were all head strong fool blazing right into the action getting blow to pieces! After two retries they finally got the gist.
Ha. I just kick them. A friend may be logging into the game, so I leave it open for him/her. Someone always seems to jump in before they can. Sometimes they get real pissed when you kick them and attempt to "grief" you. That never ends well for them. Some people take it really personal I guess.

I wonder how many people actually Join Posse Up? Who wants to join a posse with unknown people?
Quite a few. If I leave my posse "open" , someone will pop in quick as hell. Sometimes I forget to make it "invite only". But you never know who your going to get in the Posse Up feature. You really are rolling the dice.
-
No reason to be in chat unless you are in a posse. I don't want to hear sqeakers screaming, Jabba the Hutt mouth breathers , your crappy choice of music , your feeble attempt at being a tough guy, the fact you know more than 4 curse words, etc. If I am not in a posse with my friends, I mute everything. It is sad it has come to this, but I started muting years ago when I was playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. If the OP is looking for people to talk to/play with, I suggest using a forum like this or the many Discord channels that have RDRO players. But this isn't a RDRO issue, online gaming has been like this for years. But you shouldn't let that deter you from enjoying a pretty good "beta".

Easiest way to level is just by playing the game normal. I'm almost in the 80s , just by doing stranger missions and constantly resetting awards/belt buckles. No need to troll in missions or climb a roof. I'm not powergrinding by any means though. I am taking my time.

I'm rank 77. I started a week after launch. I was going pretty slow until I got into my ever expanding posse (some 25 people that we can choose from or fill up a session with on a good day).
The posse has made it extremely fast in getting those ranks. If one of us gets messed with the whole gang and then some will hunt you down. Even our solo members will come help.
Nice. It is good to roll deep. I too find it more productive and you just soak up XP. But I have seen large posses jumping from server to server in search of other large posses these past two weeks.

Remarkable that the Turkoman is still higher rated in the poll, If you look at the stats of both horses they basically tie counting all of them.
Fox Trotter - Faster and more Stamina
Turkoman - More health
I assume most people ride the horse more compared to fighting on horse - logically the Trotter should be the choice. Naturally this is personal preference, but for PVP the Black Arabian would appear to be a better alternative due to handling/health compared to the Turkoman. That being said I haven't acquired the Turkoman yet and will most likely get it relatively soon as my 3rd horse. Perhaps I change my mind then.
I have both horses but like the Turk a tad more because I like bigger horses. I do a lot of fighting from horseback and those 2 work the best. The Turk also regenerates its stamina quicker than the MFT. Both are good and you can't go wrong either way. For me personally , the Turk works better in combat. I currently own 2 Turks and 1 MFT. Couldn't be happier.

Or have a life and know what they are doing.... It is good that explosive ammo is very limited in rounds though. As for the animal fat it is only limited to 10 and used in a lot of items so there are quite a few restraints to using them. Although I am fully stocked on all ammo types I cannot recall ever having used explosive ammo on players. Fire and dynamite arrows give much nicer special effects
Exactly. It is all about time management. A lot of people spend hours online but not really maximizing their time properly. If you are a day 1 RDRo player, it is really easy to be over 100 . My buddy is very very efficient at grinding stranger missions. I rank up so fast riding with him. Some people grind Showdown religiously. I am Level 74 and work full time plus go to gym daily for 2-3hrs. If I really pushed myself, I could easily be 100+. Saying someone has no life is harsh and kind of ignorant to be honest. Someone out there is already Level 350+. Now that dude clearly does nothing but sit in front of a console.

No. Every horse I have bought is on the brink of death. I just looked at my two back up horses, and all their core are red. Hope is gets fixed soon. I'm the only one in my posse that is effected by this. They thought I was crazy until we ran into another player this weekend that is experiencing the same thing.

My buddy is Level 150ish and always carries them .He is always getting jumped. I don't know if it is his high level or what . Every time I ride with him I feel like the whole server is chasing down our posse. He uses them as "get out of jail free cards" or when severely out gunned . Besides , collecting all that animal fat is a pain so you think before you use those rounds. lol.

Time for a huge question to be answered.
