Same here.  I like a lot of the new additions / changes.

The gunplay was never anything I considered "realistic" in this game nor in GTAO.  It's the whole experience that sells it IMO.  Gun fights seem more like simply going through the motions rather than something that's really engaging like a good tactical shooter.  ....but again, that's ok for me because I don;t mind the arcade-like mechanics of the weapons in a game like this.

Quite honestly, the reloads were already ridiculously too fast to be anything close to reality.  That was one thing I wish they would have slowed down instead and took into consideration when balancing the weapons.  This would have made guns like the side loading repeaters, the Schofield, etc. have an edge in that regard.  Also would have made having two sidearms more meaningful as the real purpose was typically so you had two fully loaded weapons at the ready given that reloading can take time, etc.  especially with an SAA, tube loading rifle, breach loaders (compared to bolt or repeaters), etc.

I would love more realistic mechanics in this game in that regard as it would certainly make engagements more exciting and IMO more immersive.

I never like the PvP events in this game as it was always full of twitch-like gameplay and run & gun tactics.

I agree with this... Nothing in a video game (Save maybe the invention of the holodeck) will truly capture the reality of a gun fight... the closest you will get is firing a course on the range with real guns, and even that is a lame simulation... I’m happy having a character that knows what to do and does it with a couple button presses...

Update is cool. I only started Collector's path and it's good. Makes you wonder the map, switching eagle eye here and there. But i experienced something weird and i wanna know what is that. One of the collections is about rare alcohol bottles. I found one and i drunk it cause today's Collector's challenge was about drinking a rare booze. Then i found another one and when i checked on my progress screen i saw 1/9 found instead of 2/9 cause i drunk it. Moreover the 2 bottles i found appeared lit but only one was ticked. So will i find again the one i drunk or is this a bug? Anyone else with this issue? Also sadly i have those disconnections and crashes after the update. Pity, cause i had to reach Rank 2 in support 2 months ago to fix this. :/

We’re they the same kind of liquor? I found two goose eggs but they only counted as one find Firth’s collector...

Yes sir ! I'm looking for standard 2 gun holsters. One on each hip. I like the offhand but would like me some Bullitt belts strung across my shoulder too. Can't wait to see what's coming !

Well, in real life I like the set up for red dead... but I also shoot one gun at a time out of my strong hand and change guns rather than reload. For a dual wield, I’d wear one on each hip.

  4. Yes... I really don’t like most of the faster animations... looting, reloading, etc... it feels so wrong when you get everything out of the guys pockets by barely reaching a hand out. Where’s the risk? I agree they made it feel to much like a PvP arcade shooter with a lot of the changes, it does take away some from the role play like feel.

  5. I never noticed anything about the trading missions... though I admit I have one one one long delivery... however I did pass danger close to a red-blip player who was on a rampage. He didn’t come my way (either he had no interest in engaging another player, or he wasn’t notified to take me out). I did see the message that rival traders can steal my supplies... I’m not sure if that means only traders can get notified, or if it’s proximity base or what... just not enough time in to know the answers...

  6. I was doing my first delivery and came across a woman selling a treasure map. I found some eggs for my collector while taking in a bounty... like I was trying to say, it’s all sort of blended into the background in such a way that it kind of just gives purpose to the things we’ve been doing already while giving us a few extra activities...

  7. Well, my internet kicked in and I tried out some of the new material... I started up cripp’s trading co., got my bounty license, bought my collector kit from the gypsy girl and joined the wheeler elite club or whatever it’s called (I knew all that gold I’d been hoarding would come in handy).

My first impression of the new roles, I love them. They’re just passively there adding a purpose behind everything you do. Cripps takes your hunting odds and ends and at some point fills his wagon for you to deliver. I made $68 for a long delivery.

bounties are available all over. Just pick a poster and go catch one if you feel like it. I haven’t done much for the collector yet,  but once you start a collection (in my case eggs)it starts out like a treasure map. Then in your travels if you nearanother item, you are prompted to go investigate../

going back to the survey pole, I’m officially changing my answer to ‘dabbling in all three. I like the new feel.

considering rockstar is making the game all about money rather than earning things in an immersive way. Especially with the only viable way to make gold/money is stranger missions (dont like showdowns) i'm going to necro this thread in hopes it lives once more.

I can’t say how it will pan out yet, but it seems to me with the coming update they’ll be adding plenty of immersive way to make money and earn things... on top of the ways that already exist suck as hunting, fishing, stranger missions etc...

    Yep, TLDR

Didn’t expect they’d be 2 types of wagon so once I read the first line I thought that was it for wagons. Not entirely sure why different wagons are needed...

Well, if I’m  buying a bulk order of quality goods from you, I sure wouldn’t want you to bring it to me in your dirty old bloody gut and carcass wagon...

From the first time I saw the new roles I knew I wanted to be a Trader but now I'm not so sure anymore, I don't want to deal with griefers attacking my deliveries and/or be forced to leave Defensive Mode when making a delivery, etc. It's too much like GTAO's businesses, which I don't do at all unless it's a Nightclub selling mission and I can find a session in which I'm alone or almost alone. I really hope it won't be that way, I'm just not cut out for this kind of stuff, I want to maintain my business in peace and without griefers. Ah well, at least the Trader business set up will be free for me since I'm a PS4 player, so I won't be wasting gold bars on something I don't like in the end. (And the Collector as well, I've collected the cards in GTAO, so if everything fails I can still try out the collector.)

I'm really happy the update is finally coming though. Things WERE getting a bit... boring. (I am trying to be nice. lol)

It does sound similar to GTA businesses... yet not exactly. For one, we have the proximity based radar blips and I don’t see them changing it. Also, they haven’t made it overly ridiculous with overpowered DLC yet. Also, they mention spotting rival business wagons at a greater distance, so It sounds like the act of taking them out will be something more than ‘look, someone is doing something. Go kill them everyone.

  11. I have to admit, the camp business thing sounds very similar to biker businesses in GTA (only they haven’t released flying unicorns that sh*t always on target  dynamite yet)... but overall I think it’s the kind of thing being asked for... butcher right at your camp? Hunt down anyone who gets a bounty? (And talk of jail time for the bad guy). Hunting wagons and bounty wagons? Attacking other business,  or being attacked at camp or making deliveries... hunting other PCs with bounties... Personally it’s the purpose behind PVP I have been praying for

Yes and No, the difference being two parts, a judicial system and non npc bounty hunters with a refined system, like the spoke about a new rope for bounty hunters, I do think this is the first step in doing just that, so you cant just wiggle or cut your way out if you are captured alive you are brought to justice,

I want to see courts, sentences, jail, prison, exile and hangings.

So yeah robbing banks would be fun, IF there were very serious consequences if caught and getting away is harder than simply outlasting a short search by npc's.

Like your crimes should follow server to server day to day, you robbed a bank, if you were identified then your name is on a list and you are wanted until caught, period, you can jump servers but this follows you, and when caught the game keeps track of charges, so you can get a fine, or a 30 day sentence or be hanged, depending on how far you took it.

Essentially the difference of people running amuck and killing everyone they encounter or trying to not gain such a reputation as a cold blooded killer so when you are caught you dont get hanged lets say, obviously a hanging would be like a death, BUT in this case you lose 50% of your money and gold if your crimes warrant it.

I would like to see something similar to this. Maybe make use of the jail (hanging would be just too easy). But you get caught, your are sentenced to x hours of play time stuck in the prison (which could evolve to have its own little world with missions and opportunities). Say killing a blue non defensive player gives you an hour, killing a defensive mode player gives you two. Add 15 min for each NPC murder (30 min for cops) looting, robbing etc. Can all tack on sentence time. Your bounty becomes payable after you get caught and all time on your sentence must be served with active play time (sure, I suppose there will be those that just rubber band their control for 8 hours and go to work... that’s a problem that can be worked on).

If the jail was developed right with some thought behind it, there could be missions you could do. Perhaps some could be rewarded by lightning your sentence. Others could earn you some money/items but increase your sentence. Plus the interaction with other players in jail that could cause problems in your jail time... it might actually be fun. But I haven’t spent much time thinking it all through yet.

  13. I stopped at black flag... it was fun, but it felt a lot like Sid meier’s pirates. Honestly, I haven’t tried much on the PS4 yet. I bought it specifically for RDR2. Though over this winter I’m sure I’ll be digging through the used bin at EB Games and the likes, whe I have time for games again lol.

I think the reason we don't see this anymore is what genre would you like to see?   Too many games have been made and it is hard to come out with a block buster IMHO

Well, I love games with a lot of story to them. I bought up all the Metal Gear games. Assassin’s creed was a favorite of mine for a while. It’s what I love about the more recent GTA games.... there are infinite stories to be told in this series. As well as RDR. There’s a lot more stories to be told in the American west than Ductch and his issues....
