Yeah, me. And probably the vast majority of high ranking players that you haven’t met.
Ok so a percentage of people claim to have never used an exploit, thats awesome, you have obviously put in a lot of time playing to get there.
I remember Rockstar offering XP bonuses a while back and more than once, everyone here most likely took advantage of those weeks, its not an exploit but it certainly is an advantage that players today do not have.
I am sure lots of people have, Im only level 41 but I am with ya, I never did anything but grind all by myself out there to get here.
But that doesnt change the fact that a lot of people did use exploits that were out, do you think any of them are going to chime in?
lol no, you will most likely only hear from people that didnt use exploits to get there and they are mad that others have it easier than they did.
I dont mind at all, I think level 60 players have been around a while and arent noobs anymore, its not like giving explosive ammo to a level 15 player.

Wait ..what in the blue hell are you talking about? Joking..kinda. What players are you talking to? Tons of players got to high levels the legit way. I am one of them. Don't make blanket untrue statements. Tons of peoples level up in this game without being a lame ass. You most player with people like that. I'm sorry. And you can grind solo or in a posse. Not very hard. If you hate Free Roam, just grind Showdown. Solo players can still level up as fast as posses. Not that hard. I only run with a posse when I want to, not because I have to.
Just callin it as I see it man.
Im a noob, a level 41 noob.
Ive been grinding alone everyday.
I keep running into players while Im out there hunting, fishing, running missions, etc.. and the ones who dont shoot me then quit, end up chatting a bit I have learned it is better to be pro active and get out in front of these people sometimes, and just saying hello can defuse a potential situation.
Lately after meeting new players who are very high levels, they tell me how "it used to be"
How great it was when.....
and Im over here like, yeah good for you but it doesnt help me, at all.
So it just made me think, this is similar in that people are going to be upset over this and others are going to take full advantage of it,

Just made rank 82 so right in the neighbourhood for the pamphlets I was really looking forward to getting and now anyone at rank 60 can get them? Seriously R*? Way to piss off the most loyal portion of your player-base. Why not just introduce the Oppressor to Red Dead already and be done with it so I know not to waste any more of my time?
Ive read of few of these comments now, I see it both ways I am grinding the old fashioned way, all alone, and no exploits, and yeah it stinks a little to think of players being able to gain access to things I have worked so had for, but then I remember that many players over level 90 got their with exploits, and shenanigans.
Not all but definitely many, and so whats the difference? If I have to grind out all alone, one level at a time with no exploits, and I am playing against players who were able to level up much much faster do to techniques no longer available, then isnt that the same thing?
Either way, Im glad to see something happen today, we do need a player base fella's and if this will bring some people back or new people in then I say do it!!
Its only a week, its not forever.

Well, this makes me very happy!!!
The only two things I have wanted to get were a Turk and a Trotter, but I just hit level 41, so to me those were way out of reach, until this morning!!!
Psyched.
It does seem a litle much to drop the levels so far especially after all the level grinding Ive been doing, but meh, Im not too worried, the only folks that wont benefit from these things are people who are above level 90 and have been playing for a while and I would expect that they already have explosive ammo.
As far as horses, I was able to get the Thoroughbred, Arabian and Shore all before level 40 and the thoroughbred anyway is great, I know a trotter is supposed to be a little better but not so much that it is giving players an advantage or anything.
13 minutes ago, Savage_Reaper said:Exactly. I busted my ass to get high enough to get a top horse and those pamphlets. Feels like a straight shot to the balls. Guess this is their way of trying to bring players back for a week before we enter a content drought.
Well more and more I keep hearing from players how they were able to use this exploit and that, and cougar duplication and cop killing, and etc.... to get them to to higher levels fast, so.... if they stopped all those ways and means and a bunch of people were able to level up quickly using those techniques and now players can not, this may be to help balance that fact and give incentive to those newer players who have to go a much slower harder route to get there.
Now I am sure there is someone who got all the way to explosive ammo pamphlets the old fashion way hunting, and doing missions, grinding with a posse etc.. But I havent talked to any in game, the people I met love to tell me about their favorite exploit that "used to be available" and now that they are gone, now people dont have shortcuts to level up, especially players grinding alone out there.
Im excited about the horses, Ive been thinking, damn I have a long way to go to get the Trotter, loving this update.

Here's what I use for a winter outfit that's actually rated for cold weather when you look at the outfit as a whole in your wardrobe. I have a sheepskin coat, wool shirt, buckskin vest, buckskin pants, moccasin boots and cutter hat. I always put this outfit on when I'm up in the mountains.
Thanks.
Ill put something together.
Ive never bought an "outifit" but I have bought a lot of clothing items, so I am sure I can piece together a cold weather outfit.

Hah ! Was thinking about this y-day while playing. How can i get my weight back down. This 125% core drain starting to piss me off.
Since y day i stopped eating. No meat, no canned food what so ever. Ill only smoke cigars and drink alcohol (Lol
) like Renascent said. When ill need my cores 100% ill just sit down and relax a bit by the fire. We will see where it gets me and how long will it take. The whole weight gain/loss thing is broken. They need to fix it.
Add to that drain being cold, today I was in Colter with what was supposed to a winter coat, and I was cold, my drain rate was -900% lol
I could see it drain, it was unreal, I ate a can of kidney beans and then peas and nearly filled it, within 3 minutes it was about empty again, I had to get to warmer climates fast.
Anyway I will try the camp to refill cores, I do let them run out, all the way, only bars left, but I am usually out hunting or something away from camp, Ill adjust it so I can use camp everytime I need to re charge, it did charge real quick today the one time I used the camp to rest.

Its broken after the last update. You can run across the map without any result and this is a known bug at rs so strange they gave you that info. Those support guys should get their sh*t together seriously.... The last couple of replies i got is embarrasing coming from one of the Worlds largest gaming company, they dont even answer my questions just the copy paste reply over and over

I had to starve me dude to get his weight back down and even then, I have to do it now and then when he puts on weight. It is insane what they did.
Ahh that sucks, but thanks for letting me know.
I had two issues, I made my guy overweight not knowing it would result in a -125% core drain rate, all the time.
If I knew that I would never have made him that way.
The other thing is there is a glitch with certain jackets and vests that look all screwed up because of his shape.
I was less annoyed with that than I was about the core drain rate penalty, that just sucks, but if I cant fix it by forcing him to lose weight then, wtf im going to be stuck with this penalty permanently.

When I read your post
I would say that is really good enough for me. Since past 2 month, i'm having disconnectivity for every 10-15 minutes. Or on a good day it extend to 20-25 minutes.
I try to pretend everything is okey , thanks to my friends who understand & didn't ask why I'm gone during mission.
Lately it getting worse. The disconnect problem has cause my router to explode..!!
Nah....I'm joking. Not explode, but the plastic cover broken. Some electronic board break into half. Maybe the antenna missing or the power cable is cut into pieces.
The amount of stress plus disconnect just rise heat of moment. It all happen too fast. At the end, I saw my router flying to the wall because don't know who I should mad
So,,f*# k me for that. Now I'm living with the consequence. Oh....that incident also the reason why I got time to write this,
Sorry for listening the same bullshi%+, it just...too much to keep it to myself
Dude, im sorry to hear this man.
My issue was that one day, then it happened one other time, and since then, not at all, so knock on wood, Im good to go, But I feel bad for your situation, I hope they get it fixed for you or you can find the problem.

system is completely broken, good luck though.
I think eating pure Big Game Meat makes you fat, i think canned food is good though.. like i said broken system (arguably pointless) so idk
Thats exactly what I am going to find out and demonstrate one way or the other.
They said stay away from snacks and biscuits specifically so I will do that
Ill eat kidney beans and stuff like that.
See if I can show that it doesnt work, or it does one way or the other.
-
So, long story short,
My guy is over weight, I made him that way on purpose.
BUT, I didnt realize that I would then have a built in penalty for the entire game, of a -125% core drain rate.
I asked R* about this, and they actually said the following.
" Related to your characters weight you will need to have the character run around in the game an stay away from sweets and biscuits to promote weight loss. Character adjustments such as this a re by game design."
So,
Off I go to hit the gym, literally in game.
I am going to take a before pic with no shirt as well as in a few outfits that currently glitch out and then I am going to use in game time to diet and run everywhere, if you see a long haired fat old man jogging, thats probably me, heading from Annesburg to Blackwater for a fat free yogurt or some nonsense.
I dont feed my character in game unless he is about to fight and then I only use biog game meat with thyme usually or plain bog game to refresh cores, I never feed him other stuff.
So I dont have much faith this will work, but I have nothing to lose so I am goign to try and record the results.
Ill get some pics later and add them to this post, it will be a diet/exercise thread to post results, before and afters.
Im sure I am not the only person to have made a chubby character so this may prove useful to someone else later on.
I really think they could add a warning to the game when you are building your character to avoid the penalty though.

Clearing the cache lol - R* answer to every problem, solution to none!
Yep, its the first like on their script of what to say to customers.
So, worse than the glitch is there is a built in - 125% core drain rate as a result of making a character look heavy.
Had I known that I would not have messed around with it I feel like that is a little much for a penalty, and ok, if that is the case, there needs to be a red pop up screen when building your character that pops up and says,
"WARNING!! by adding physical attributes such as body weight you will incur a core drain rate penalty that will be built in and forever!!"
So others can avoid being accidentally burdened by this.
I am going to start a new thread about diet and exercise and do this as an experiment.
-
Well, R* said to dump the cache with a hard off/on, so I did that but it remains, then I went through all the clothes and listed the 4 or 5 items affected.
It is mostly a few coats that do it, others are fine.
There is a vest that does it too, if I wear it if glitches through the coat.
they said to let them know if it worked and we would go from there, Im probably just stuck, the only thing I can see to do is edit the character and make him average weight to avoid any glitches, but you cant do that without starting over and no way am I starting over now.

Your frustration is well founded, I totally understand.
There are good people too, not as many, or at least you dont seem to meet as many as we tend to avoid strangers online when possible, and the ones that just run up on you are often out to push the limits.
But, it is the nature of kids and video games, people of all ages act strange when others try to control them or take their control aweay it is natural, I love boxing games, not ufc but actual boxing, Fight night champions was an incredible game and still hold up actually, the online could be amazing, BUT it is not, lol as you have a few good people on there and then a thousand that will quit early if you are winning, and will use all sort of spams to beat you in the first place, I got to the point I coudl hold my own against most players, but I never enjoyed it as much as I wanted too due to the number of cheats, poor sports, quitters, whiners, etc..
COD WW2 is about the only online multiplayer I have played that I can say has the least amount of problems with other players.Until RDR2O came out it was about all I played as far as online goes, I cant wait to go back to it after a few months off.
I bought the season pass with all the dlc's so I dont think I have even sen the final map release of the season pass yet, Ill get back to it eventually but for now I am still 100% rdr2O

Just to update this, after catching nearly 3,000 fish I can say for 100% sure all you need is one lure, any lure.
You can use any lure in any body of water and you will catch medium to large sized fish, no need to have the swamp, lake and river lures, just grab one and go.
I use the river lure for everything.

Ozzy thanks man, that is exactly what I was asking about, I wish we had one for everything, like value of animals towards xp, and other things you can do earn xp and what they pay, but this resource is great!! thanks
On 3/29/2019 at 1:00 AM, nshanny73 said:dude... honestly... there are no shortcuts... sure, you could go for the newest exploit and risk your account being reset... not worth it
you just gotta grind what makes the game enjoyable for yourself... I don't care about xp so I hunt and fish alot... dailies, hideouts, gold story and stranger missions till the clock ticks down are what you're looking for... then grind an hour of showdown
there aren't many options so choose the ones you enjoy the most
and sorry, but I get a LARGE amount of xp from hunting... LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION
I am not looking for any shortcuts, I just want to know where to invest my time, where the pay outs of XP are highest so I use my time well and earn the max amount of xp that I can as I go, rather than waste time with things that pay little to no XP at all.
The list Ozzy produced is great, at least it shows you what to expect for those stranger missions.
Im now at level 37 and doing fine, but I would still like to find a resource that outlines the xp pay outs.

@lumper I got sick and tired of grinding and didn't know how sick and tired I really was until I got another guy to ride in a posse. And then a third guy joined us. Instead of grinding by fishing and hunting and fighting off Griefers, we started running story and stranger missions and the levels just piled up as did the treasure maps. It was a whole lot more fun. The 'noob' in my Posse was a level four. Two weeks later he was Level 28. I am now a posse member with a guy in Australia and another guy who is in great Britain. I'm in the central time zone but I make it a point to be online at 5 a.m. Central to play-- and all of a sudden I'm at level 94. Hooded stirrups, Gerden Trail then upgraded Gerden Trail saddles make just about any horse competitive!!! I don't even worry about ability cards. I did buy one expensive pamphlet for explosive shotgun slugs and those are reserved for Griefers or battles when we are outnumbered or against guys with extremely high levels. Just food for thought for you, Lump
Friend Me, XBox Gamertag: The Grey Hare and if you see me on I will activate my Posse and good things can come of it for u.
Thanks buddy thats great.
Ill look for ya, you can add me, lump321 on xbox.
I did just hit level 37, mostly grinding, but I did the 6 story missions, several stranger missions, cleared a dozen hide outs, but mostly hunted and fished my way.
I was invited into a group, the Northern Empire?
They seem to have a cool thing going, whereas if you are on and hassled by an organized group like a group or several large posses that are all one group, etc.. these folks will come out from discord and get your back.
They wear uniforms and do not tolerate toxic players, they claim to have discipline so we shall see what it is all about, but any alliance sounds good to me.
I am not sure how any of it works, it would be fun to play with some like minded folks form time to time to advance things a bit.

To answer your question no. There is no option to sell back gold bars for real cash or in game cash. At best hold on to them to buy other junk when it comes out.
Its too bad you can sell it or trade it to other players, even for cash.
-
So, I made a guy to look a little older and a little heavy, I was thinking of old Bob Dawson from Tales of Wells Fargo or The Old minor from The Big Thunder Mt Railroad, etc..
I was thinking it would be funny to make a guy that reminded me of Walter Brennan in an old Western, so I made my guy with long whiskers and hair all white, and a little pair shaped.
Now had I known the graphics would do this I would never had bothered but, the coats or vests and often even shirts show through the lower sections of coats and vests and it is a graphical error.
It is super annoying.
I cant do anything about it though, I dont want to start over, and there is no way to edit the character I would keep it as is, just change the weight thing.
Attached is a pic of how it sometimes looks if I wear a coat.
It shows better in other pics, but I only uploaded these two for now.
Does anyone else have this problem?

Just a thing i would like to know from more exp'ed players since i strated playing rdro in mid february.
Currently i have 3 horses:
1. The one i got from the start (ill sell him after i get the 5 horse achieve)
2. Arabian from lvl 52 i think
and the one i use now - black Arabian from lvl 70 i think. Is this the best (fastest) horse to have now or are there better ? I noticed i have almost full "circle" of health and stamina on it. It misses the final bit to be full. Is this a saddle thing ? Im using the special "gator" saddle on it. Should i buy a better saddle for it or is there a better horse out there.
Need to buy two more horses so maybe some suggestions on which ones should i buy?
I have three horses also.
The Chestnut Arabian, a Shire and a Thoroughbred.
I would like to try a Trotter in time when I level up, but I have to say the Thoroughbred is awesome, great stamina, isn't spooked easily, runs fast, and is a good size which is important in a fight.
The Arabian can be trampled easily, my Shire is massive!! if you haven't seen a Shire go check one out, for some stuff it is great.
I am thinking of using him for those races not for speed but for his sheer size, you bump into him, your going down!! lol
But honestly the Thoroughbred for the $140 I think? is the best horse Ive come across so far over all.

Its good to see so much lively debate and it shows the passion some have for the game and the various ways of playing and enjoying it.
I think there is definitely merit to a "sharing system" withing the game, but for now, it was just a thought, just an idea I had one day while hunting is all.
I say to those who dont see any need, it wont take anything from their game to have it available to those who want to utilize it so although you may disagree I dont think there is any reason to object to it being there,
Especially sharing between players, ammo, pelts, foods, materials, valuables, etc.. whatever you have, can be traded or gifted to another player.
Anyway the forums are for discussing things related to the game, so, I feel all in all this has been a good use of the boards and a good discussion.

Try it, close range, 50 feet or less, it is way better and I think does more damage.
It definitely feels like it,
I carry both plus dual volcanic pistols and the shotgun is the most fun, I use the repeater for distance, but the shotty for just about everything else.

This games player base is decaying and there no question about it.
From reddit.. to forums, to social media. Its all there..
This game is not running strong. Its limping along...
This game is not a MMO.. Its an action game where the action barely exist.
Everyone I know is dying for actual pvp modes.. And they simply got fed up of begging for basic sh*t that should already exist in a R* game.I think people got too excited too quickly and forgot, they arent done, they ran out fo time, this beta thing sucks but it was just to get it out so we coudl start finding bugs while they buy time to actually finish it.
People bailing on it entirely at this point is kind of dumb, I mean take a break sure, come back once a month and check it out, I do think that given the time they need this game will be great, we just need to be patient and realize everything isnt perfect and wont be until they have had a chance to fix it, threatening them, leaving the game, etc.. isnt going to speed up time, they need time.
The numbers are way down as people in general today have low attention spans, and with so many other games out why not?
as angry as I get at times, I still remember this is a beta lol it is not finished, I cant judge a game based on the performance of a beta.
I wish it were coming together faster but meh, it will in time

I can't help but think the current state of RD O player base and unhappy players will push R* to rethink its mindset when it comes to RD O. And this will end up being a good thing in the long run. And hopefully gets rid of the people in charge of RD O for being completely clueless and bad at their job.
Because if RD O was successful, nothing would change. Just more of this, for years.
Im literally the only person left out of tons of friends who own this game that still plays RD Online.. And when I say plays it, I mean 1 hour a week. Compared to end of 2018 and early 2019 when EVERYONE I knew was playing and I was playing this for many hours a week, (Its kind of sad 😪)
I've gone back to single player. Because I can play FREE AIM in peace, no ability cards.. no bullsh*t.. with a world that actually seems alive and is built around fun.
The end of the BETA is going to be R*s second and probably last chance to really bring players back and keep their attention... And give players what they need instead of what Take Two wants.
I play online now more than ever and it is mainly due to the decline, fewer players means fewer problems, it is still loaded with plenty of people I wish would get bored and move on, but it gets better everyday.
Trying to get your stuff to the butcher in Tumbleweed is nearly impossible, so the whole lower part of the map is basically off limits, everytime I go to hunt, I end up having to run for my life or lose all my stowed carcasses it isnt even worth the trip anymore.
Ill be glad when they implement this hostilely system but until then, at least in a few corners of the map you can still do your thing without people distracting you from what you are trying to do.
Id like to see the game succeed but they already succeeded with the single player, if they cant get rid of all these red dots and A holes then the online part will never be fun except for the people who enjoy ruining every one else's game time, Im watching the numbers decline and loving it.
Ive only this past week had a chance to really play the online like try the pvp games for instance and those are fun, and they beg the question why are people still griefing everyone instead of joining a pvp session where killing is the objective?
Why arent they playing more and why do they find it fun just starting trouble everywhere?
It is a frustrating conundrum.
I was getting bored just grinding for cash but now I am past all that, I hit my goals and bought everything I needed, now I really dont need anything, so I am trying the various games and most are good fun, they really help learn the fighting part well.
The most annoying thing I see is a high level player with two others with him, lower levels, and he is the posse leader, so you might think, ok they will do some caravans or mail deliveries or other stranger missions as a team right?
Nope, just hang around town, wait for unsuspecting players then ambush them for nothing, these people are the real problem.
But I digress I know this has all been addressed and they are working on it.

This is getting old today.
4 times in 2 hours, it seems like every time I get my horse really loaded down with pelts and carcasses and some items stowed, I get disconnected today, I re-spawn and it is all gone!!
This really irritates me, as hard as it is to earn money in this game, as much as Rockstar went through to keep people from taking too much money to quickly via pelt pices, and animal prices and availability in general, for them to keep taking my money away from me making me have to begin again isnt fair and it is really irritating.
I am only playing for cash today as I want to upgrade my last ability card to tier 3, I needed to make $500, there were so many griefers in my favorite place I had to go elsewhere, I got there, put in the time, and boom disconnected, rinse and repeat, 4 X!!
Anyone else experience this today, did I miss a notification telling us to expect random disconnects today or something?
I want my money back it may only be $45 to 80$ each time, but thats still important to me when I am trying to accumulate $500 and I have to keep starting over.
What I have all day do screw around for absolutely nothing?
This is another reason I disagree with all these hunting videos, I get it in a perfect world you can maybe earn more, plus xp, but fishing, I can hide away in a corner if a person kills me I still have my fish and it takes no time to catch 30 fish that sell for $75, when I need quick cash I think I am just gonna stick to fishing, Ill hunt for xp or when it is easy, but Im done setting out to hunt, between the constant disconnects, the people waiting to kill me within sight of the butcher and the fact that after a few hours, for whatever reason the butcher and stables glitch out on me and I cant engage either I just stand there and they will not allow me to buy/sell or otherwise engage, I have to leave and re enter the game and of course twn I fdo I lost my stuff, ugg I know its beta but I really cant remember having so much trouble hunting before today.
What a waste of 2 hours.

UPDATE 4/9/19
in Red Dead Online
Posted · Edited by lumper
No I didnt mean it to sound that way man, im just saying that is the slowest way to level up, all alone, in a posse you have many advantages its all Ive heard from R* and players here since I joined, they all say, dude posse up its so much easier you will get further faster etc..
So I just added that players going it alone, and not using any exploits are going the slowest route available is all.
Ive played alone everyday Ive played and done 99% free roam, I did the 6 story missions once and I have done a handful of stranger missions, but otherwise just free roaming hunting, and fishing for cash and whatever daily challenges I can do.
Everyone has their own story, the point is I dont think we need to be all upset over level 60 players getting a bonus this week only, how many folks will it really affect?
When I joined I just missed the 30% xp bonuses I played that Sunday, the last day of it and didnt earn very much I didnt understand the relationship to the game at that point, I was still looking around trying to figure it all out.
I think most people on here worked very hard and leveled up the hard way too.
