  1. Most of the Stranger missions carry over to John, including the rock carvings and dinosaur bones (there are a few dinosaur bones in New Austin, which Arthur isn't supposed to access due to the Van der Linde gang being wanted in the southern part of West Elezabeth and New Austin). The only one that doesn't, which I'm aware of, is The Mercies of Knowledge which triggers during Chapter 4.

ok, i got a rat and a cardinal, now i need a woodpecker. any good hunting spots? here on rdr2.org the location info is quite vague, so i guess finding one won't be easy. and knowing my luck, getting a perfect carcass will be even harder.

A couple always spawn on the north end of one of the large islands to the west of the Clemens Point. I think it's the one directly south of the one with the shipwreck on it. But you have to be quick, because they spawn hidden in the vegetation. And use the bow with small game arrows, because the varmint rifle will always drop them to two stars. If you have the deer trinket, there's a small chance a two star will be upgraded to three when you pick it up, though.

Edit: And approach the spot from the south, because they always fly northward when startled.

This was also a problem for me. I go to the north of Saint-Denis for a 3 start bull. I find it at a farm, with 3 3-star cows. Then there is this guys coming on who falles from his horse and i bring him to the doctor who amputated his arm. Then I return to the farm to kill the bull, but all of a sudden they al have only 2 stars... Wasted time... again.

Check Carmody Dell (Bob Crawford's farm, the one Arthur and Hosea rob in The Spines of America) and Hanging Dog Ranch. Those are two other places that bulls spawn.

Strange little factoid: I've found that if you kill a bull with the bow, you don't lose honor for some reason like you normally would for killing domesticated animals.

  4. The Classic Raccoon Mountain Hat, the one that the loudmouth mountain man in the Valentine saloon wears, won't register as owned in John's wardrobe. I have it in another game as Arthur, but when I picked it up off the floor as John, it wasn't flashing and putting it on doesn't add it to the collection of hats on his horse or in his wardrobe. Is there some kind of trick to getting it?

And just to clarify, I'm not referring to the similarly named Raccoon Mountain Hat that the trapper can craft.

  5. No, not a bug. You can only remove large pelts (e.g., bears, elk, etc.) from your horse, medium-sized ones like deer, pronghorn, and such remain on it until you give them to Pearson, sell them to the trapper or butcher, or die. Game's functioning normally, so just go do what you were going to do with it.

I heard there's a glitch that lets you get into that area during chapter 4. Thing is, I haven't got that far yet, so I can neither confirm nor deny.

I think that glitch was patched out.

Does anybody experience the characters calling you out by your real name? im in story mode not online mode and every now and then ill hear my name yelled out.

Unless you share your name with one of the Van der Linde gang members, I can't conceivably see how this could be happening.

  8. State-wide stay-at-home order went into effect at midnight this morning for California. All non-essential businesses are closing. Or rather, most. GameStop is refusing to close and considers itself an essential retailer, telling any law enforcement agencies to defer to corporate headquarters. At least I'll still get that copy of Far Cry 5 I ordered this morning. 😆

I have a beef with Rockstars fashion sense also. It's obvious that they spent a ton of time and money on the weapons but yet they make me tuck my pants into my boots.

I have worn boots all of my life and haven't tucked my pants into my boots since I was 6 years old! It's just the wrong way to do it. It looks stupid and unless you're knee deep in pigshit, there is no reason to do it that way. Pants should be worn on the outside to prevent sand, bugs and other garbage to filter down into your footwear. The last thing you need when at full gallop, cruising down I-75, is a friggen wasp stinging the p!ss out of your foot!

So yea, I agree with Junko. Let the ladies (and gentlemen) have some nice threads and let us old guys see a little ankle before we are shot in the back on the streets of Blackwater.🙂

You can wear pant legs tucked inside or outside boots by choice in Story Mode. Seems odd the mechanic isn't extended to Online.
