How about having separate characters for PVP and PVE like MMOs do ?
I wouldn't like that. I shouldn't have to restart entirely just to join my friends that chose to play in pvp.
I still think removing players from the map would be all it takes to stop the trolling. That way, everyone can still play together without any segregation or separate servers. Trolls can still troll, but they'll have a much harder time finding people to screw with. Casual players can actually play the game, while still having to watch their backs.

- Kill 5 Flying Birds from a moving train
No matter what you shoot, you're gonna get accused of a crime shooting form a train. Those damn guards can even hear the bow from 4 cars away. I rode the train from Emerald Station, waited till a large flock of birds flew over and blasted them out of the sky. Start at morning so you have plenty of time to ride the train and wait for the large flocks, otherwise they'll stop the train after you shoot and you'll have to find another train and go again.
I ended up getting this one AFTER fighting off the law. First attempt, they stopped the train and tried shooting me. I rode off for a minute and came back to find a completely abandoned train. I ran up to the front (after looting of course) and got the train going again. Quickly hopped out and shot down 4 birds (already had credit for 1) with time to spare. Far less frustrating than having to find another train, but I got a HUGE bounty for stopping the train in a populated area.

Initially I didn't have HDR setup right so I played RDR2 without it.
I just made the upgrade last week (to the xbox one x) and couldn't tell the difference. Then I realized yesterday that I have to actually change a few settings for things to work correctly. That's my project for tonight...
Hopefully adjusting the settings will make it better. I was really disappointed that it looked the exact same...

Let me help you with that. A show is the thing you just sit and watch without any interaction. A game is the thing you do with a controller in your hand. Hope this clears it up for you.
What about the first 2 hours of the RDR2 story? I didn't need my controller for most of that lol

But that's the only one lmao
I think this is another one of those things that could be prevented by completely exiting the game when you're done playing instead of just turning off the system. The "instant on" is a convenient feature, but it causes a lot of weird bugs.

Panther is by far the hardest one to hunt.
My tip I quoted a few posts up has been reliable if you're interested. Took me hours to get my first one, then I figured that out. Now it takes more effort to ride over there.

I have more luck (when being attacked) on my horse. They knock you off instead of instantly killing you, but then the run off to circle back for the kill. This gives you just enough time to pull out a gun and line up your shot.
Anytime I've been attacked on foot, they've killed me (unless I noticed the dot)...

It's been a long time coming. I've known the value of the mighty bean since my first burrito, so it didn't take much convincing.

The other day I watched a panther attack and bring down a deer. It looked almost exactly like something you would see on National Geographic. The cat was eventually wrapped around the front of the deer, at its throat, while the deer struggled on the ground.
First cougar I encountered was chasing down a few deer. I should've watched it, but it made for an easy kill and made up for how much time/effort I spent on the panther.
I also found 2 wolves rolling around playing with each other. Got myself 2 perfect wolf pelts with no effort.
Came across 1 wolf eating something while 2 were laying down nearby. I watched for a minute through binoculars (I was up on a mountain for some reason) as the 2 got up and chased off the other before returning to their free meal.
The little things like that are what make this game great.

I spent two hours in that swamp/forest last night and saw a total of 2 panthers. One killed me because I was trying for a headshot after being knocked off my horse, and the second was only a one-star pelt.
That's how it went for me as well. Took me like 4 hours to encounter it the first time...
Now I know exactly how to spot it before it spots me:
On 11/12/2018 at 10:35 AM, Truth said:
It spawns south east of Braithwaite Manor. There was a pile of bones near the crossroads where I noticed a random dead boar. Figured it was the panther's feeding grounds and dropped the bait there. The rock was just across the road. Watch on your left (directly west from that rock) using eagle eye and you should spot him. (this person marked it where the guide marks the map, I found it a little farther north)
You can actually drop the bait anywhere around that spot and wait.
I did go back and test this (needed more panther pelts for the trapper) and it's definitely repeatable. I've literally spent at least 8 hours in that area, this is THE BEST way to kill it (that I found).
I don't think it ever took more than a minute for me to spot it. Takes about a day to respawn after killing one.

I was hunting legendary coyote and he just keeled over.
That must've been a funny sight
I've noticed rotting boars and deer all over the map. I also just figured it was predators. Hell, a dead boar is what lead me to the easiest way to kill a panther.

i used player blips to make friends... i'd hop in a lobby find out where all the people were, hop in some random guys car ride around get shot at shoot back etc..
Sounds like something I would do once in a while, but we're definitely in the minority there. Most people just use it to troll. There's no way to ignore that fact.

You absolutely are. Im fine with the game as it is now, and would like to continue playing it this way.
I'm supporting a change to the existing mode, not suggesting an entirely new mode... I don't understand why you're so confused by this...
4 minutes ago, sLLiMM said:but you got people who don't want player blips removed for various reasons..
I can't think of any good reason to keep them other than for trolls, but I also haven't played online yet. I'll assume (for now) that there may be a decent reason. In GTAO it made sense. For one, there were phones (a realistic way that one could assume player locations would be communicated). Second, you could stop someone from completing a resupply/delivery mission and make some money (not sure if that's possible in RDR).

You being upset about this shouldn't be what removes the entire incentive in the game to watch ones back among other things for everyone else.
I'm not asking for any extra modes at all (read the whole post you just quoted). We went over this yesterday...
Just because other games have (or do) do it, doesn't mean I'm supposed to like it or want it in this game. GTAO has flying cars with rocket launchers, doesn't mean that will work in RDR...

I agree with the OP, having separate severs for PVP and Passive players is a good idea... like in gta when some A**HOLE is repeatedly killing me so i decide to get some revenge then POOF he's in passive mode and i can't do anything about it that sh*t sucks man, and if not separate severs there needs to be something done to avoid situations like that.. maybe just bring back "bad sport" lobbies but tweak the requirements
I think removing players from the map would solve the problem. Like I've said before, you can't troll me if you can't find me. I don't really want a passive mode, I would rather it remain one mode that EVERYONE can enjoy. You still have to watch your back, but you're far less likely to encounter people that log on strictly to ruin the game for others.

That's exactly what you're saying...

Also had another leg coming through his chest... I tried to ride him like that, but it made him normal again. I was hoping I could ride the abomination around for a bit.
The screenshots don't really show how ****ed up he was.
Imagine the standard movements a horse makes while it's just standing there, but all contorted to match his new structure.
